I haven't visited here in about 2 years because I moved out the area. The last time I visited, they were nice enough to squeeze me in at the end of the night and wasn't rude about it. So now that I'm local again I figured I'd go back and I'm happy I did. I went on a Friday evening so I prepared myself to wait for a while. I was seen after about 20 minutes which wasn't bad at all considering the weekend rush. I got a pedicure and acrylic overlay, Hannah took her time and checked in asking me how my services were( water temperature, massage pressure, nail color etc). Most importantly she listens to my request of not over loading my small nails with acrylic because I love my natural nail just need a little acrylic too keep from breaking. The only downside I would say is the nail color options are pretty standard and could have more variety in my opinion. But I will definitely be back in 2 weeks. read more

Absolutely disgusted by the way Jenna at Dena's Nails in Wyncote treated me after years of being a loyal customer. She refused to do my nails, claimed she was too busy, and then had the audacity to blame me and say I "only come in for gel pedicures anyway" and that someone else could service me. She even falsely accused me of being late, when I have always arrived on time. Ironically, she is the one who is consistently late, often leaving me waiting 20 minutes or more after my scheduled appointment, and not to mention she take forever to do a Gel Pedicure. The lack of professionalism, accountability, and appreciation for loyal customers is unbelievable. I will be taking my business elsewhere and would not recommend Jenna to anyone. read more

It really upsets me to even write this. I love Dena's nails, and I usually get amazing service. However, I will NEVER get my nails done by Amy (seat #5) again. She tried to argue with me and she knew the job she did on my nails was unacceptable. Her hands are not steady.... The matte on the nails didn't fully cover my entire nail. A waste of $40. This salon uses MMA (methyl methacrylate) which is ILLEGAL per the FDA. It is a monomer that hardens when mixed with powder to create acrylic nails. This heavily damages nails and increases the risk of infection. I did not know this until I went to an at home nail tech who informed me and showed me the visual differences. It took almost 2 hours to remove the set used with MMA when a set used with EMA would have taken maybe 20 mins. IT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE USED ON NAILS!!!! This is cheap corner to cut as MMA is sold ridiculously low as compared to what SHOULD be used (EMA). I should have realized by the harsh and strong smell right away but I didn't know how dangerous this could be. I would not recommend this salon to anyone for as long as they use this product. It will ruin your nails permanently. The lady doing my nails at 18 was also not that kind, I wasn't going to write a review about her as I rarely rarely call out individual employees. She was persistent in what she wanted as opposed to what I was asking which ended up in me being dissatisfied in my nails. She begged me to keep the long... I kept them long although I really wanted a short square set. She got an attitude and rolled her eyes when asked to change the color BEFORE SHE STARTED... she insisted on using a pink top coat when I stated many times I just wanted clear. She was constantly rotating my wrist in a way it couldn't even bend which caused the whole experience to be unpleasant. I will never come here again and would avise everyone to go somewhere that does not use ILLEGAL products such as MMA that are extremely damaging and unsafe. Jeopardizing client satisfaction, product outcome, and nail health is not worth it to safe a couple dollars.... do not come to this CHOP SHOP. read more

I went on a Sunday. Asked for a refill and regular polish, and paid $33 prior to them painting my nails. When polishing, the nail tech was unable to use regular polish as there were several smudges and lumps. It looked so bad that I asked for gel instead. When finished, they asked for an additional $15 more (for gel and shaping of my nails they said). Like shaping already was paid for with the $33 I already paid. I was surprised! I would have been okay paying an additional $5-7 dollars but $15 is outrageous. If staff cannot paint with regular polish, they need to take it off of the services they provide. Paying an additional $15 for gel polish is like paying for the whole bottle of nail polish. And to put the icing on this encounter, my daughter went with me and got the same thing and was charged $38. I will never go back. They wasted my time and took my money. Have you ever called into a nail salon to make an appointment, but couldn't make one because you didn't know the name of a specific nail tech you wanted to make the appointment with? This makes absolutely no sense. What if you are a brand new client and don't know any of the techs yet? What if you are a repeating guest, but you just can't remember the last nail techs name? The point of making an appointment is so that you don't have to wait. So since I didn't know a specific nail tech, the receptionist says I have to walk in. I promised myself a long time ago, after waiting what felt like a part-time shifts worth of time on a Saturday at a nail salon, that I would never waste my time waiting in a salon again. I just will not do it. So I either make an appointment or try to walk in on an off day. But if there is a long wait, I'm leaving. So I asked the receptionist if she could pick someone who is good at pedicures, she said "we don't do that. You'll have to walk in." I said "I've made appointments at other nail salons without having to specify the technician." To which she started to get snarky "that's other nail salons. Weeee don't do that." Well "weeee" just lost a client. Not to mentioned I've called here before to make an appointment same day, can't do that either. I could see if it was 1 or 2 hours prior, but it was like 6 hours a head of time. So why do they even say they take appointments when there are so many stipulations to making appointments? I've been here several times because they are close to where I live. I've been here when they were at the old location, one door over and I've walked in to their new location as well. Their work is pretty good, they're quick, and well priced. But overall, I have had better experiences at other nail salons when it comes to quality of work, ease of making appointments, and pleasant customer service. I was only coming to Dena's for the convenience. However, the nonsensical appointment rules and the snarky receptionist have really turned me off from wanting to return. read more

My go to spot no matter the occasion. Very reliable and never have any issues with nails or brows.

They just moved to a freshly renovated studio next door to the old shop. It is beautifully decorated and sets a good spa like feel to the salon. However, I am extremely disappointed that there isn't a book for customers to sign their names when they enter the door. As long as I've been going there I have never seen a book. It is not quite that difficult as they are making it appear to be. I spoke with one of the nail technicians and offered the suggestion and she made it seem like it was so complicated because she figured there are some customers who come to see specific people. Well....it is that simple for them to write in the technician's name next to theirs. It really wasn't that complicated. I just do not think they treat their customers with respect in that sense to have them fighting over who goes next. Everyone is busy keeping tabs and some people honestly do not pay attention and then time is wasted. The majority of the customers are black so this is how they are making their money but it seems as though there is a lack of respect for their clients. Hope things change soon. First time at Dena's. I have a wedding today so I arrived at 9am when they opened. There were only 4 ppl in front of me. Took about 10 minutes to get seated in the pedicure chair. They have a nice color selection. Due to the size of the salon you cannot grab the polish you want behind the stations they have color wheels and all of the polish options are painted on the nails. I actually like this because I can just hold up the nail to mine without testing each one. Minus 1 star for the rush pedicure job. I get it's in a busy shopping center but I'm paying good money. She did however take her time on my nails and they are beautiful. I would definitely come back but during the week while most people are at work. UPDATE: They definitely thin out their polish at this salon. After only a week it was chipping off. I went again and got my nails painted another color and the same thing happened. I really needed a pedicure and decided to go to Dena's. Actually I've been to this nail salon many times over the years. It is very convenient for me since they have a parking lot for all the surrounding stores. When you walk in there is a row of chairs to sit in and all the technicians are busy working. They don't have a receptionist and they don't take appointments (that I know of), just have a seat. Everybody waiting knows whose next because they were there before you! Even though it appeared to be a long wait I only waited about a half hour. The nail tech was very polite and did good job. I was pleased with the results. My only complaint with Dena's is they have to step up your game with nail designs. They still have the same old nail design boards from years ago. If you show them a picture of a style you want they say they can't do it! I went there this time because it's close to home and wanted a pedicure and not necessarily anything fancy and the prices are not bad. If your looking for a fancy design like in the magazines I would suggest you go somewhere else. read more

I've been a customer at this nail salon since 2006. On each visit my nails and feet turn out perfectly. The salon is always clean and pricing is great. I chose Dena's last week when looking for a quick mani and pedi. They had just moved to the larger space next door. The new Space was spacious and clean. The wait was really short. So far, so good, But then the tech did a terrible job!! There was no reason for her to rush, which she didn't seem to be rushing, but again, I Am extremely disappointed and will never go there again! I hadn't been to a nail salon in many years but I knew that after she was done I shouldn't have had rough nail tips on 2 finger nails and one toe nail. Worse of all, at least 4 of my nails have split in the nail bed! That has never happened before, ever! I went back hoping they would repair or protect my nails. The manager put a few drops of super glue on those nails. It has dislodged and the nails continue to split! I had strong long healthy nails before their manicure! read more

I guess it was my fault for expecting this place to be pretty lowkey and relaxing since it was located on the somewhat less frequented side of Cedarbrook Plaza (i.e.no screaming kids or loud/boisterous neighborhood folk). It was anything but! I only came here because it is located on the way home from work and my nails were in such dire straits that I couldn't wait until the weekend to frequent my usual nailery on the other side of town. As soon as I walked in, I was sorry I'd pulled over. The aesthetic of the overall job done wasn't too shabby. The technician did manage to do my refill just the way I like it, very short and dainty (which for some reason always proves difficult for other salons that aren't my normal one), and she also helped to relieve some pain from a bothersome ingrown toenail. However, she ALSO sliced the skin of my little toe with the cuticle nipper because she was moving so fast! I was pissed by this point, but I let her continue. When I go to the nail salon, I want to unwind, but this place is by no means relaxing. It's tight and cramped and full of people (and their children..). The entire salon has the shape of a wide hallway, which leaves very little room to move and walk around. The shape is so odd that it warrants the nail polish be displayed on the wall BEHIND the technicians' tables.This means that you can't just walk up to the polish and observe in your own time. To remedy this, the techs give you a posterboard with every single color in stock painted on an artificial nail & attached to it in order to make your color selection. Maybe it's just me, but I found that to be annoying. All in all, I wouldn't recommend it unless you're in a bind. read more

I recently switched to this salon and had good experiences the first few times I visited aside from one tech that put my tips on crooked. I found a different one that I liked. I came in yesterday and requested Jenny. She had a customer and told me that I couldn't wait because they were closing in 10 minutes since they had started closing earlier due to Covid. I said no problem & that I would come back the next day. when I returned today she again told me that I couldn't wait because she had another client lined up after the person she was currently servicing. I asked if it would be better to make an appointment and she said I should make an appointment next time, but I couldn't make it right then. I was confused as to why I couldn't make an appointment then for the following day, but she just kept saying no that someone else could take me. When I asked why she said the receptionist wasn't there, but her client pointed out that the receptionist was in fact there. It became very clear that Jenny simply didn't want to service me and I asked her to just let me know if that was the case. She ignored me and went back to her station. The receptionist told me it would probably be best for me to work with someone else. I'm not sure what her problem was but there are way too many nail salons in this city for me to accept that sort of treatment. read more

I hate going to rude nail salons, so I will NEVER return to this one!! The young girl who sits at desk #14 was rude and had a nasty attitude the entire time she serviced me. She kept messing up my nails and toes being distracted by her phone and talking to other girls in the shop. I pointed out that she got polish on my skin and she got an instant attitude and wiped the polish off the entire nail and started over. What was that supposed to fix??? There was still polish on my skin! She spilled polish on me looking at someone else, she didn't tell me when to take my hands out from light, she didn't acknowledge me. I don't know if she was acting like that because the owner had left for the night or what, but I refuse to give my money to any business with such horrible service. I have to say I try to find different nail salons I like depending on the area I'm in. This is the first place in while I wish I never walked Into. I didn't have an appointment so I didn't mind waiting but once I was called to a seat I still has to sit there and wait another 10 m before someone sat in front of me. First issue was she couldn't find one of the two colors I picked , and it took her so long that when she finally came over w another color ( she said was similar) I just said ok even tho it was nothing like the one I picked. Then I asked to keep my length and she filed them down too far and the shapes were all different nail to nail. Then even w three coats it was still see through. I know w glitter you have to add extra coats to make it full coverage and she didn't do enough coats. It's still see through and neither color fill my whole nail. There is space on the sides and bottom of my nails that don't have any polish on them. On two of my nails the gel is lumpy and I'm sure will chip off .there is also polish on my skin around my nail. I still paid and tippped Bc I just didn't want to have to be in there any longer than I was. I will never go back Ps - I wanted to add I go to a place when I'm coming off work and they do a beautiful job every time and the full gel manicure is 25 bucks. Here u have to pay for the manicure and the gel polish separate and it comes to 32. I wouldn't mind if they did an amazing job but they don't read more

Unprofessionalism at it's finest and nasty attitudes from staff. Staff sits around and gossips about PAYING customers throughout the day, and refuses to correct mistakes according to the service requested by the PAYING client. There are plenty of salons in the area with competitive prices who provide quality service and a basic level of respect for paying clients. There are also a growing number of Black nail techs in the city now. Quality of work and products used here is mediocre at best, yet prices reflect a higher standard that isn't being upheld.
