The last watch was repaired and we were charged ***$371*** for it without receiving an estimate as requested - and as REQUIRED by Ohio law for giving consumers the right to a verbal or written estimate for repairs or services that cost more than $25. Shameful. * We really had high hopes of Denig and we liked their proprietor, but we are never going there again. Never. read more

Sixty years ago, my wife gave me an Omega watch as a Christmas present on our first Christmas. It fit my small wrist perfectly. Thin as a dime. Self winding. Earlier this year I had Denig repair a broken clasp on a bracelet I had bought there a few years ago. When I dropped it off I told the elder gentleman (who is very friendly) that I wanted to get a new setting for my engagement ring (I received 33 years ago). He took the measurements and said he'd work on an estimate. When I picked up my bracelet, no estimate. I called a week later, nobody knew what I was talking about, but the person promised to look into it and call me back. Never heard from them. I went to Worthington Jewelers and bought a new setting with 1.5 carat diamond and a .5 carat diamond. If Denig continues to ignore customers, they won't last long. read more

We were strolling around Old Worthington when the kid spotted the amazing model train set up that is currently in the front window of Denig Jewelers. We easily spent well over 30 minutes checking it out from both the inside and the outside. The owners were so friendly and welcoming and said that this was precisely why the enjoyed having the display up every year, and they were very kind about getting it going again when there was a little derailment. It was very cute that they had their very own "jewel" filled cars that said "Denig" on the train too. They were having a 75th anniversary celebration at the time and offered the kid some cake, so basically this is the best jewelry store the kids have ever seen before. From a non-kid perspective, the store was very nice and bright and filled with a great variety of items in the dozens of glass cases, including some very nice timepieces, necklaces, rings, bracelets, and the like. Though I wasn't jewelry shopping at the time, the positive experience will definitely keep this shop in mind for when I am! read more

AFTER YOU'RE TIRED OF BEING HUSTLED AT THE BIG, FANCY, HIGH OVERHEAD JEWELRY STORES IN TOWN, come to Denig Jewelers in Old Worthington. Scott Denig is the 3rd generation owner. His grandfather founded the business. His father ran it. He's a genuinely nice guy, and he and his entire staff are honest, friendly, kind and decent. They do the jewelry business the way it was done 40 years ago, and that's a very good thing. First we went to the Diamond Cellar at Sawmill & 161. It was an utterly awful experience. They sized us up, decided how much money they believed we have, decided how much money they would extract from us, and were single-mindedly hell-bent on selling us more than we wanted for more than we wanted to spend. They didn't listen, at all. They tried to steer and shame us into buying what they wanted to sell us. Awful experience. So we walked out. Then we went to Leo Alfred on 161. It was a little more sophisticated sell, but the end result was the same. So we walked out. I should mention that I've done business at both of these stores in the past, but they both just lost my business. And we're not difficult customers. We just know what we want, and don't appreciate someone who doesn't listen and tries to force-sell us something we don't want. So frustrating. Then we went to Denig. Great experience. Nice people. They listened. They tried to sell us what we were asking for. Their prices were very fair - far better than the other 2 big, fancy stores that obviously have to sell you too much so they can pay for their huge overhead. Denig Jewelers are nice folks. They're good jewelers, too. I can't state strongly enough how important it was to us that they listened and were responsive and tried to meet our needs. They've earned our business, and they deserve your patronage... my highest recommendation. read more

Update on my original review. They resized my wedding band and 6 months later it broke.

They set diamond incorrectly it fell out never found. Did not remedy situation. Mr.Deniq fled the scene when police arrived. I lost big time. Dont mess with this business. Also uses bad watch batteries. Soon as I got those back one was broken then the other died a week later. They costed me Close to 2000 dollors didnt even return money from the labor. I am very happy to report the Denig family genuinely care about strengthening a bond! After posting the below review, I was promptly contacted by Scott. They worked together with my wife and I to address our concerns and solve them. I am proud to say that I am a Denig customer and will continue to do business with them. Denig is 600 miles away, an 8.5 hour drive, or roughly 2 hour flight - working with them is worth every mile and every minute of the travel! Mike was tremendous in the care he took as well as showing genuine interest. I purchased the engagement ring and shortly after the wedding ring and my wife bought my ring as well. Over the next ten years we would continue to visit Denig any time we were in town and would ONLY have our jeweler serviced by them, 600 mile journey or not. We recently went back to have the engagement band resized and to tighten the stones as the center diamond was loose. These are the most professional jewelers. Their collection is wonderful and their staff (including amazing Mike) are so helpful. I was referred to Denig by my hair stylist who grew up in Worthington. My husband went to school with the Denig boys. This family business has an impeccable reputation. Scott, the owner is a gem, if you pardon the pun. Natalie Bopp I just recently stopped by with 5 watches that needed batteries. I was told by an associate that Mike was backlogged and that the watches would have to be left. I was perfectly fine with that. However, not 2 minutes later, the watches were handed to Mike and within 5 minutes they were done. This is the kind of service I wish every business had. I have been shopping at Denig's for more than 25 years, and have been consistently impressed with their quality, selection and service. I have bought many pieces of jewelry for family members, had jewelry appraised, repaired and cleaned, and always been completely satisfied with their work. The staff are friendly, patient, and genuinely interested in helping customers find what they want rather than just making a sale. I recently needed a new watchband, which required that the watch be sent back to the manufacturer to avoid damaging it by removing corroded pins. The reason I'm writing this review before I have even stopped in Denig is because of the warm and pleasant reception I received over the phone when I just called them to see if they could help me out with a watch repair issue. How friendly! Before I made the call to Denig, i called another watch repair shop in Hilliard. I recently bought an engagement ring from Denig and couldn't have asked for a better experience. I had never bought a serious piece of jewelry before and knew nothing about rings. They were excited to help me every step of the way, never tried to over sell me, and have been extremely helpful even after my purchase. The ring was too big for my fiance and they worked after hours to get it back to me in one day so she could have it when she went back for her first day of school. Denig Jewelers has changed. We have done business with them over the past 25 years and our recent experience has us searching for a new jeweler. A necklace change required removal of the clasp to fit through the pendant. The pendant came back damaged; the first time the necklace was worn the clasp came completely off. Asking for repair of the clasp, we were charged for something that was incorrectly completed the first time...and with damage to the pendant. They indicated that we were mistaken about the original work requested. We're sorry but they are incorrect. We paid rather than argue, but they have lost a customer! read more
