I especially liked seminars hosted by governmental agencies because they offered solid, verified advice that I could apply in my practice. Their main event--the networking event with VC--, however, was a lame. It was nothing more than a bunch of B.S. For Glendale Tech on Tap, again contents and guest speakers weren't bad. But the organizer screwed up on location picking because I could barely hear the presentation by guest speakers. For the most part, the one thing I couldn't absolutely put up with was the organizer's utter unprofessionalism and lack of reliability. Here's what happened. During one of the Glendale Tech Week events I happened to have a chat with one of the organizers from the Glendale Economic Division. After a chat, she was interested in working with me on a project. And her associate, Tamar Bezjian, followed up with me. And after some time of exchanging emails Tamar suddenly cut communication with me. I tried to following up with her but she never responded me. This type of behavior is absolutely unacceptable. It is not only disrespectful of others. It also makes the entire interaction/communication unnecessarily unreliable. My former boss, when he was training me, advised me to be always respectful of others and advised me to always respond to other people's messages because that's the most basic form of showing respect to someone. It's a shame Tamar hasn't learned such a basic professional etiquette. I know this type of "professional ghosting" is pretty common these days especially in Los Angeles but that doesn't make it acceptable. This is especially the case for government workers because their job is serving the community and they are living off of taxpayer's money. I don't know who trained Tamar but I can absolutely see that the city government has poorly trained her. Shame on Tamar Bezjian. Shame on Glendale Tech Week. Shame on the City of Glendale.

Now, because of how they handled my return, I'm dealing with the Franchise Tax Board saying I owe money. So not only did I not get my refund, I'm now stuck cleaning up a mess they created. When I asked for basic documentation like a copy of MY OWN tax return they refused to give it to me. There is no excuse for that. You file taxes under someone's name but won't provide them a copy? That alone should tell you everything. They also claimed they had proof of where my refund was sent, but what they provided wasn't even mine they were mixing my information up with my mother's. That is a serious and careless error when you're handling people's financial records. And instead of fixing it, Rose, who calls herself the "president," was incredibly rude and dismissive. She told me she would "no longer entertain" my messages, said to "do as I want," and told me not to contact their office again all because I asked for answers about my own taxes. Then she had the nerve to tell me to go deal with the FTB myself or hire another accountant basically telling me to spend more money to fix THEIR mistake. This is not just bad service it's irresponsible. Mixing up client information, refusing to provide records, and shutting down communication when questioned is unacceptable. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
