I entrusted this Enrolled Agent with resolving a serious tax identity theft issue involving a fraudulent 1099-MISC, and the experience was beyond disappointing. After 20 months and counting of waiting patiently , I was left with little to no communication, vague answers, and virtually no sense that my case was being actively managed. As a client, I expected someone with specialized IRS expertise to be proactive, transparent, and responsive. Instead, I found myself constantly wondering whether anything was actually being done on my behalf. Important questions went unanswered, updates were nonexistent, and I had to spend my own time chasing information that should have been provided without me asking. Tax identity theft is an incredibly stressful situation, and hiring a professional is supposed to provide peace of mind. Unfortunately, this service only added to the frustration. I paid for expertise and advocacy but felt abandoned throughout the process. I cannot recommend this tax service to anyone dealing with a complex IRS issue. Not impressed at all! A lot of promises up front that weren't delivered. I have been working on an Offer in Compromise now with Hillhurst for almost two years. They have taken my money and asked me for a lot of information, which I have provided. I was feeling optimistic because Hillhurst required so much information. My Offer in Compromise was rejected by the IRS so I tried to contact my assigned EA at Hillhurst! Despite several emails, phone calls to the EA's direct line and direct phone calls to the main office, there was no response! Complete crickets! At the end of 2016, my husband and I interviewed several IRS tax services to help us address $44k of tax debt I had accrued during my prior marriage for the tax years 2008 & 2010. No star's for this company . A month ago I hired this firm at an amount of 1000$ for two separate issues one for 500$ and one for 200& well 1000$ was removed from my bank account just like that. I had $80,000 in taxes,fees, and interest from years of mistakes. It was the most stressful and depressing situation. . Then there were levies and garnishments. The IRS emptied my account 2 times. It was like there was no solution and to way to fix it. There was no way I was going to have the money to fix it. Then we had twins. Our budget was so tight. The State of California started garnishing my wages. It was an impossible situation. I had called the IRS to ask for an offer in compromise. They said send in 25% of what you owe and they would consider it. The 25% was non refundable. If they declined I would lose Something like $16,000. I didn't even have that kind of money to lose. Finally I went online and found Hillhurst Tax group. I couldn't have been more skeptical . Alex at the GLENDALE offices said they had a program that used the same algorithm as the IRS to add up all of your data and finances and see what if and a settlement would be. Alex said it would be a couple hundred dollars settlement to the IRS. He said the fee for Hillhurst would be $8,500 to get an offer of compromise. He said I could give a deposit and then monthly payments. I really had no other options -so I agreed and had to re file my taxes from 2009 to current. I was so skeptical I thought I would go in there and they would be gone. Like con artists in the movies. No furniture - nothing. If they didn't answer the phone I thought they has split. In less than 1 year the IRS asked for 1 quarterly estimated tax payment to consider the offer. They agreed to the settlement of $100 dollars. I owed them $80,000 and settled for $100!!! I've never had anything like this happen for me in my intire life. I am still in shock. So now I am paying off the $8,500 to Hillhurst and only have $3000 left to go. I am on a 5 year probation with the IRS. That means everything has to be filed on time and paid for 5 years without incident. Not a problem! Hillhurst got my State garnishment lowered and to a fixed limit a month. Basically as I understand it they can not take more than $300 a month. I am self employed so they were garnishing everything -every time I was paid. This is much better. This was the single greatest financial decision I ever made. Actually it is the only good financial decision I've made. It has changed my life. That constant pressure and stress is gone. Every time anyone would talk about taxes I would feel my chest tighten. Pleased with the results of Hillhurst. I won my IRS audit, when my previous CPA of 5 years failed to do so and refused to refer me out to another firm. His final opinion was that I should just pay the full bill. Good thing I went for a second opinion. I attribute a successful case closed to my audit case agent, Kenia. And will leave four stars regardless of several minor shortcomings. I found Hillhurst through YELP, and based on their reviews decided to reach out. They were able to outline the entire audit process, what I should expect to happen next, and how long to expect the full case to take until resolution. Their estimate was accurate and during my interactions with my case agent, they produced acceptable and thorough work. They followed through until the final IRS correspondance letter arrived in my mail. The legendary, Letter of No Change, signaling the end of my audit examination and no additional payments due. In total it took about one year of back and forth with the IRS to resolve my case. The final result was all that I hoped for. My only gripe with Hillhurst is in the shaky communication I experienced twice. I assume both Kenia, who worked on my audit, and Jonathan, who handled my tax prep must have been overwhelmed with work at these separate periods of time. With Kenia, a crucial deadline for us to review and submit an examination response was nearly missed by less than 24 hours. There were no email or phone followups in over a month prior to the deadline, so the day of the response deadline, I called their offices early in the morning and was finally able to speak to Alex, who assured me Kenia would email me later that day. Our submission (200+ pages of documents) was emailed to me 3 hours before the 4pm cutoff, and I was asked to review the packet for accuracy so they could send it out. Needless to say, this was a situation I should have never been placed in and caused undue stress. This incident was pre-covid when they should have been operating at full capacity, or at the very least have an office administrator call or email me with an update. In addition to preparing our submission several days ahead of time for review. The next communication blip was during my tax preparation. I have a complicated return with many moving parts and caveats that require additional forms to be filed on top of the standard 1040. And it requires a hands-on CPA to tackle and review with me prior to finalizing the return for submission. This was noted prior to moving forward with the tax return preparation process. And was evident by the mountain of paperwork produced for my IRS audit. Several of my questions went unanswered during the process. And ultimately most concerning, my question about particular filing requirements were left ignored. Even though I was promised a followup email closer to the revised July filing deadline, that email never came. The filing deadline has passed, and it is on Hillhurst, specifically Jonathan, who handled my tax prep, who I attribute the drop in communication. Overall, I would recommend Hillhurst for audit resolution and tax prep. Their rates are reasonable, and they follow through in most aspects. If you need someone to represent you infront of the IRS, they're a solid choice. Just keeping in mind that communication is not the best, and it may take some consistent followups if your case needs a more hands on approach. read more

I was told by this associate that the matter was resolved after months of going back and forth. Come to find out there was additional payment from the state of California that had been accruing interest in the last 2 years. I made it clear to your intake person that it was not just 2014 and he stated that was not a problem. Why else would I have paid so much?
