Went to get a haircut here from Avi. One word: Horrible. His main set of clippers is held together by tape. As he was giving me a size 3 on the side of my head with a plastic clipper guard attached, it fell off mid haircut and now I have a large hole in my hair resulting from a size 0. I look like an idiot thanks to this idiot using a cheap ass pair of clippers held together by tape. Thanks. Also, Mike (the best barber here and which many of the reviews earlier mention) no longer works here. He has left for greener pastures. Avoid Avi at all costs. Go to another barbershop just to be safe. My other review mentions a very high quality shop on Hillside avenue that holds its barbers to much higher standards. Go there instead. read more

First off, I'd like to warn that the address provided isn't entirely accurate. Though it's as they listed it, if you try to google the address it says that it's in a small strip mall 1/4 mile east of it's actual location. You can find the barbershop in the Lake Success mall. After once again waiting way too long for a haircut, I decided to try this barbershop out again. I had gone there often as a child when my grandfather took me for haircuts, but as I got older I had found my own spots to go to instead. However, I was in a bit of a rush and decided to check this spot out. It seems they recently renovated the whole barbershop, including a new younger staff and flat screen televisions at most of the booths, so that if you're unlike me and can actually see without wearing eyeglasses, you can watch TV. The place was clean, but so clean as to suspect something was amiss. There were about 4-5 other customers in the store at the time, but the wait time was only about 2 minutes on a Sunday afternoon. Dominic, one of the older barbers, gave me their special, a shampoo, haircut, and shave ($30). The haircut came out very well, considering I'm not good at describing how I like my hair styled, I was pleased with the results. He was very friendly and asked for my input, but didn't spend the whole time with mindless chatter, something I find annoying at most barbershops. The shave was excellent, and he shaped up my beard and moustache well, but didn't do the best job of cleaning up the extra hair on my face. When I got home, I made the mistake of wiping off the aftershave to get the remaining hair off, and had to deal with some pretty nasty razor burn the rest of the day. After just moving to this neighborhood, I figured I'd check this place out and hopefully make it my permanent barber shop. Upon entrance, it looked like a very nicely setup place, small tv's at each barber station. I patiently sat and waited for it to be my turn to get a haircut. Once one barber (Dominic) was finished with the previous customer, he asked if I was next and I walked over to his chair and when he asked what haircut I wanted to get, he replied with "You just have to wait until the barber next to me is free to take you". Then I sat back down and waited until it was my turn again. He cut my hair in less than 15 minutes - fastest haircut I've ever gotten and then he charged me $20, such a RIP-OFF ! The last time I paid $20 for a haircut was in Manhattan. Long story short, I paid him and wanted to tip him and asked him to give me $6 change from a $10 bill and he said "is $5 okay?" I said yes and will never go back here anymore and I'll make sure to tell everyone about my experience. Plenty of parking in the parking lot in front of the shop. read more

Don't follow directions. Gave very clear instructions on the length so there wouldn't be any ambiguity and they cut my basically all the way from an Ivy League length cut to a crew cut. Went from maybe 3 inches of hair to 1 after saying only take half an inch. Was absolutely mortified when I watched him take the scissors and flat out cut all of it off after I said not to. Buzzed the sides and back and didn't blend it so it looks unfinished. He even buzzed it up all the way to the crown of my head so now I have little hairs standing up. There are 7 barbers in the shop and all of them are pretty busy. I just found out that this place have been around for almost 60 years and each barber here has at least 20 years of experience. This is hands down the best barbershop in the tristate area. I have been going to my man the king with the scissors IGOR for about 12 years consistently now. I have gotten to a point where I would not let any other barber touch my hair. I used to go to school 3 hours away, and I would wait until I came back to Great Neck to go to this barber shop to get a haircut. Igor is one of the best barbers in the game and I highly recommend him. As for the rest of the barbers in the shop, they are all excellent and very professional. PEOPLE OF COLOR STAY AWAY!!! I want to preface my review by stating that I am not a racist and anyone who knows me well enough knows that I love all people from all backgrounds and I wouldn't discriminate anyone or any business based on the color of their skin, culture; etc. but by the character, quality, and service they provide. I was in dire need of getting my son a haircut for his birthday party. I realize this isn't an ethnic barber shop but time was of the essence and I wouldn't hold this against them as long as they were well EXPERIENCED in cutting textured hair. I found this barber shop on Yelp. I don't write a whole bunch of reviews because I am just so busy, but I am doing this as a precaution for anyone with coarse hair simply because I wouldn't want anyone to experience what we experienced. Nevertheless, I saw that there were some really nice reviews and some pictures posted on Yelp and although I didn't see any pics of people of color, I said I'll go and inquire of their expertise once I arrive. I met the owner Denis, who I thought was polite when he greeted me. I explained to him that my son needed a haircut, I was forthright about how important it is to have a barber for him who's an expert on cutting his type of hair and cutting it to my expectations because I am not familiar with any of the barbers of his shop. He looked me right in the eyes and explained to me that they're experts and they cut his type of hair all the time. So he calls over a barber who was stationed right next to him, I think it may have been his father and Denis told me not to worry everything will be fine because the barber knew what he was doing. So as the man started cutting his hair I stood about three feet away just to observe for the first few mins because 1. I was pretty nervous and 2. I wanted to make sure he knew what he was doing. I later realized that I didn't want to be 'that guy' by standing over him which could potentially lead to anxiety on his end and make matters worse. He did an awful job and massacred my son's hairline all around. It was uneven and to make matters worse he pushed his hairline hack at least a cm all around!!! I was disgusted and infuriated but kept my composure. I informed Denis right away because I didn't think he spoke much English. After Denis was done cutting someone else hair, he then took over to try to salvage the line up. At that point, it was beyond rescue. If anyone knows anything about hairlines it is probably one of the most important parts to anyone's grooming. Long story short, I expressed my disgust with their services. I basically paid for the haircut although I didn't think I should but I try to be a gentleman at all times because clearly my $10 was worth more important to him than it was to me. Clearly Denis wasn't a gentleman because he lied to me and as a result of this my kid had a jacked up haircut for his birthday and I had to explain everything to my wife who was truly, truly upset when she saw it. We will never forget because we'll definitely have all the pics to remind us. I am convinced that Denis knew the individual he gave me wasn't experienced and wasn't an expert in the areas we discussed. This wasn't right and this is something we will never forget. I would give them 0 states if I could. I will say that he did offer me the next haircut on the house but "fool me twice, shame on me"...I don't think so. You couldn't pay me enough $ to go back there. I hope it worth it Denis. read more
