I am extremely disappointed with the customer service I received at this No Frills location today. This incident happened today at around 7:45 PM. I was shopping for an Uber customer's order and had been in the store for almost two hours trying to find items. When I could not locate a product, I politely asked a staff member who was stocking shelves for help. Later, I found out from another coworker that this person was actually the manager of the store. The first time I asked for help, he responded in an annoyed manner, saying "it should be over there." I thanked him, but he did not respond. When I needed help finding another item, his attitude became even more unpleasant. He told me that he was not required to help me and that I was asking too many questions. His way of speaking made me feel disrespected and uncomfortable. After this interaction, I spoke with another coworker to ask if this was normal behavior, and that coworker informed me that the person was the manager. Whether someone is an Uber shopper, a delivery driver, or a regular customer, everyone deserves to be treated with respect. Asking employees for help finding products is a normal part of shopping, and this kind of response is not acceptable customer service. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and reviews what happened today around 7:45 PM. read more

Product review ... 'shout out' - for one of my favourite ways to purchase pork for roasts and chops. I call it a pork "log", the supplier calls it 'boneless pork loin rib half', and the store labels it as 'pork loin, half centre, and sirloin'. Buying pork this way affords an opportunity for the customer to cut and prepare as desired. After each purchase, I usually cut a roast and chops, and freeze in portion sizes appropriate for future meals. The yield, as I cut and prepared this larger one for freezing was: one good-sized sirloin roast, 12 loin and centre chops, and some extra sirloin. The roast was frozen in a bag by itself, and was large enough for dinner meals, and several lunch sandwiches, and brunch snacks. The chops were frozen by variety, two in each bag, perfect for dinner meals. The extra sirloin was put in its own bag and used in a tagine stew. When sold fresh, these "logs" are usually on sale at reduced prices from other times, when being sold at regular prices, and being sold frozen. For me, the only way I want them is fresh, so I can cut and freeze. Buying them frozen and not being able to refreeze after thawing and cutting is not an option. I purchase them fresh, and have caught some great prices. They are fantastic value buys at those times. Regardless of size, the "logs" provide such a wonderful variety of flavourful pork cuts for many meals. And for me, are so well-deserving of the product 'shout out'. read more

For the last 12 years I've gone to No frills Como Lake at least twice per week to get fresh-er vegetables etc, and many other items. I'm not sure when the last time I returned something to a grocery store, however I believe approximately a year ago I had some cottage cheese that I thought had turned a bit early and certainly way before the BBdate. I walked into Save-on and customer service immeduately apoligized and asked me to get another one complimentary. Like immediately, before I could even explain. Back to No frills, I had half of a litre of milk that had turned early and had a pretty major hassle at No frills. First it was have you got an reciept, I said yes, hundreds of them. Then I was told I'd have to wait 10 or 14 minutes for the manager to come back and deal with this. I finally informed them that I'm in there every week, I'm leaving the bad milk and taking another, along with buying other items i need. When checking out I informed them again that I'd like to take the item and leave the bad stuff with them, more hassle, and a lesson on how long dairy should last once opened, by what appearred to be my mom!! Unbeilievable!! over a couple of bucks worth of MIlk. Great company policy there Dennis! I'm done! I'll go a little extra distance to another store. Grabbed a few things while in the area, but the main reason going inside this grocery story was to pick up some meat for my meals this week. NoFrills in AB is known for lower prices for groceries but I didn't get that feeling here (but I only walked a small portion of the store). There was a large choice of veggies & fruit (included pre-cut items / trays). Price wise though, you might want to walk over to the other option in the parking lot if a small amount of whole veggies & fruit is all you're stopping for. Seemed to have a decent range in price for packaging sizes for bakery & frozen fish. I ended up grabbing a frozen fish package as what I wanted to grab for meat was gone (hoping to pick up a small package of ground beef). The other non-frozen options (pork & chicken) didn't look the greatest for the package & price but I'm very lucky what my meat should look like if I'm paying that much for it. I didn't go further in the store as I physically didn't have it in me to wonder more so I can't fully judge the average pricing or quality of choices but the store seemed large & decently busy in the store & at tills. Staff seemed friendly & things moved quickly at the tills. Large parking out front of store but shaped oddly for flow & positioning of handicap stalls. If you're mobility limited, cross closer to Shoppers so you're more visible & have a larger dropped sidewalk area to navigate. The store has double security bars as you enter (like what you would see at Canadian tire) which I really dislike with my chronic pain & mobility issues. If you're pushing a cart I'm sure you notice it less. Overall, it's a grocery store, seemed to have a decent selection for fruits & veggies & from the looks of it serves the community decently with the amount of people that were in there that night read more

I encountered a horrible and troubling experience at the store today. I walked into the store with my two daughters, and we went straight to the banana section as we wanted to make banana bread. We just happened to see some bananas bagged in a clear plastic with 50% off sticker. We grabbed three bags and walked to straight to the cashier. The first greetings we got from the cashier, Julie was "did you put those stickers on", referencing the 50% off stickers. I was stunned and shocked momentarily. I have never been asked that question in all my life. I am not sure where this question came from or what motivated her to do that. Was it racially motivated? We literally spent less than a minute in the store from entering the store, walking to the banana section and heading straight to the Cashier. I am deeply offended and hurt by the action of this employee at Dennis No Frills. Her action amounts to making accusation of theft. I will be sharing this experience with others and on social media. Around my work there are a few options to grocery shop. This is definately one of those options, where you have a clean store, and cheap prices. I thought that No Frills was only back east, and was amazed that this one was nice and hidden. It is, what it is, a Loblaws/Superstore, with lower prices, and also the same selection. The nice thing about this location is that it is in a plaza, and unlike Superstore... you can at least walk around and do other things, then just going directly to your car! You'll save acouple bucks here, I'm sure of it! read more

This store is pretty big, lots of products available and SUPER CHEAP!!! Nothing can beat that! Very friendly for my pocket certainly! Most of the times I find everything I need but you wouldn't find specialty products, just the basics. Vegetables and fruit are good and cheap, the meats aren't great but it is still ok (chicken has been always good). Sometimes they have this awesome sales because the expiry dates are close, but honestly, if you are looking for something to make dinner the same night, it works out perfectly! I find it pretty convenient and good for the budget! Do not expect the greatest service though but who cares with those prices! I don't! read more

Chill out no need to get so worked up about a price match guarantee. Of course it has to be the exact same product. You wouldn't price match a generic brand pop for a Coke or Pepsi. I come to this No Frills almost every week to pick up mainly sale items. If it's in the flyer it's almost a guarantee that it's the best price you're going to get that week. On top of that the store is clean, well lit and most importantly well stocked. I've been to the Vancouver locations and they are all picked over as they run out of stock quickly. Over the past few years we had virtually stopped shopping at Safeway, Save-On or Superstore because the prices were generally better at No Frills. However, over the past couple of months we have seen prices creeping up and a big reduction in PC Optimum points. In fact, surprisingly, vegetables and fruit at Kin's Market are now less expensive than here. And vegetables are generally in better shape at Kin's. 3/1/2010 First to Review Dennis' nofrills?? I thought it was just no frills until I read my receipt. I now know this specific location is owned by a Mr. Dennis Mantel, and Dennis I would like to thank you. Once again my shopping becomes more difficult. That's a good thing though, if you have to go to 7 different stores and farm markets to do grocery shopping you can bet that your probably getting the most bang for your buck and the freshest choices. No frills has become my go to produce place, even over some of the farm markets I have gone to for years. Also they have some great deals and that's generally how i like to shop.... check out all the major grocery stores flyer's find sales that make sense for me and head out and attack them all (it makes me feel like I'm a smart shopper). Just last week I left no frills with 10 cases of water (15 in each), four soup at hands (so handy in a pinch), big bag of cheesie's (clearly a necessity), 1 box of crunch and munch, mc cain fries, and 4 cans turtle beans (a must for my survival) all for 30 bucks. In my opinion that was great. Oh and went back an hour later for salsa makings and as I said all their produce is fresh and they have a way better selection of hot peppers than any other grocery store. Okay so blah blah blah I'm just rambling now case in point Dennis' nofrills has done me no wrong and I highly recommend keeping an eye on their flyer's. One more thing I like that they charge you for bags it gives you that much more of an incentive remember your hippie bags. BRING YOUR DAMN HIPPIE BAGS TO THE STORE WITH YOU PEOPLE!!! read more

Bought a bouquet of flowers there today and the check out girl said that they don't wrap them. You guys know that typically when someone buys flowers anywhere it's usually not for themselves and it's a gift, ya? Wrapping is an essential. Know what she says to me? "That's why they call us no frills!" I responded that I'd be calling that something else. Won't be going there again. Conversely I went down to the dollar store in the same complex and asked the lady there if I could pay her to wrap the flowers, and she did it with a smile and wouldn't take any money. They also get flowers there every Thursday. No frills, you're a joke. Teach your dumb millenials to wrap flowers. It takes 25s, and about 15c of material. How do you justify cutting corners on that when wrapping is at least half the presentation when you bring someone flowers? There's keeping something basic, then there's being cheap and compromising. Guess which end of the spectrum this dumb move is on? Get a clue. read more

Prices are good but I honestly can't stand the parking lot here. The layout of the lot is no fault of the store but the long rows of carts sticking out are a big obstacle. The staff are friendly but some of the floor staff seem overworked. read more

Shop quite a bit in this store...since it opened... good prices, and usually the cashiers are pretty good...when their not filing their nails, brushing their hair, texting their friends, or talking to the next cashier beside them instead of greeting the customer....but I digress... Just this afternoon, I stopped in there to pick up snacks for my family. Cashier at the #1 register standing there blowing her nose.. I put some fresh food on the counter with other items....thinking she was certainly going to grab the hand sanitizer I spotted on the counter...and sanitize her hands as I was taught by the Island Based local competitor when I worked for them....NOT ! ! ! ...she finishes blowing her nose...and grabs my fresh produce.. ( YUCK)..this is how the conversation went... Um excuse me.. Im going to go get more of this...you can toss those...then would you mind using the hand sanitizer...you just finished blowing your nose.. cashier) well I didn't use my sleeve... I actually used a kleenex you know JEES ... me) um NO you need to use hand sanitizer.. I just saw you blow your nose...( this is where she cuts me off ) cashier) you need to stop being rude to me... i don't need hand sanitizer... at this point, a customer who was standing in a line behind her looks at me and says... YEP I have been watching her...she's been wiping her nose with her bare hand while I have been standing here... ( so now my voice is rising)... I'd like to speak to your manger... supervisor come over talks to her cashier and says.. um ok she used a kleenex didn't she ( I was floored..couldn't believe my ears...) I said to this so called supervisor... My husband is currently on chemo therapy . I don't really want to take HER cold home to him ! !...the " supervisor" didn't seem to care much that's for sure....... after I made my vocal infused purchase..and the rants went back and forth between me and the so called supervisor and that rude immature cashier.. I grabbed my stuff and walked out.....as i was making my way to the door....that cashier yells at me...... you need to stop being SO rude.... I just looked at her and said...... You need to be educated on the skills of being a GOOD CASHIER....obviously something you are clearly lacking... So Denis... if you want your customers to return to your store? I suggest all your cashiers take a professional course on customer/cashier relationships...doesn't your staff ever heard of whimis? I had a very unpleasant experience with this No Frills store, and the owner. His name is Dennis Mantel. I went into the store to purchase groceries, and spent close to an hour collecting my items. Upon reaching the cashier, I was informed that the store does not accept Visa. I was turned away with my cart full of items at the store. I then telephoned head office (your customer relations phone number) to ask why they would not accept my card, and he told me that it was up to the Franchisee to decide whether or not they wanted to pay for the Visa transactions. He said that some locations take it, some don't. I then called the owner of the store, Dennis Mantel, and when asked why they don't take Visa. He stated simply "We don't take it never have" I asked why, he refused to give me a reason, and when I told him what office said he told me that what I was saying was untrue, he said "That is a lie, Loblaws would not say that about us to you.", and then started to get more and more irate with me. Instead of apologizing and trying to explain the customer the situation, he instead called me a liar, began arguing with me and condescended me as a customer. I will never be shopping at this location again, nor any other No Frills location for that matter. I will save my money for better quality service, as this location cares about neither service quality nor the importance of keeping the customer happy. I am not a liar and will never be called one by a rude store manager who is too cheap to supply Visa access to his customers. This owner's attitude and blatant disregard for customer care are the direct reasons I and none of my friends or family will be shopping at this store in the future. read more

Cheapest prices ever - same stuff as Extra Foods, but I probably cut 30 percent of my food bill. Small and basic, but it has what I need, and the stockers are always friendly and willing to help me find things. World's tightest and most treacherous parking lot, though, and I have a tiny car. I can't imagine parking a monster SUV in those little spaces. read more

At first I wasn't a big fan of No Frillz. It feels like a warehouse with shelves and they don't take Visa. However, the longer I shopped there, the more I liked it. They have a weekly meat special that runs Fri-Thur. Sometimes you can get fresh chicken breast for as low as $8 a KG, which is about $10/KG cheaper than Safeway. There prices on some things that I've caught one of my buddies who is a manager at Real Canadian Superstore shopping there! The selection might not be as big as the larger grocery chains, but the prices make up for it. I try to do all my shopping at No-Frillz! read more

PRICE MATCH NOT A GUARANTEE! If you saw their claim-SIMPLY SHOW US A LOWER PRICE AND WE WILL MATCH IT you probably thought that it sounds easy - but it's nothing but. First at the checkout they make you return any EXTRA product - there is a limit and of FOUR that it's nowhere mentioned in their flyer that makes you feel bad. But that's not the end. If you happen to find the for example the bag of carrots or coleslaw for 1lb on sale with some other store and trying to get a price match guarantee you will not get it - because the packer in this case has to be exactly the same e.g. Dole for both. Since the store carries mostly Loblaws brand products do not bother to look or ask for a price match and save yourself some humiliation. CUSTOMER SERVICE is another low point. Cashiers are usually rude or totally indifferent at best there is a few of them that I usually try to avoid and would rather wait in another line longer. You can sometimes get a good deal but service is rather poor. I guess you get what you paid for and a little bit extra that you don't deserve. read more

I have shopped here a total of 3 times and it was months in between those 3 times as the cashiers are the rudest, snipiest and have NO customer service skills AT ALL. They have no sense of urgency when they are checking thru the groceries and take their sweet time. Each of those 3 times I was appalled at what little respect they showed for the customers that were giving them a JOB. I've heard nasty exchanges between cashiers and customers - basically arguing with the customers!! Dennis, you had better bring in a Great Customer Service Skills workshop and FAST or you are going to keep losing revenue! It's your choice. read more

My mother bought a turkey from there before Christmas and when she thawed it , it was all rotten and brown. She brought it back and they said Dennis wasn't there and because the price tag had fallen off they couldn't refund her. It was obvious the turkey was from there as it has a No Frills sticker on it. Long story short they took her number and said they would have Dennis call. She left the turkey with them. Well no one ever contacted her she lost the $15 she spent on the turkey and she will never shop there again. I have heard many stories about spoiled food being returned there. Be careful if you shop there that you don't buy food that can be spoiled. Shame on them not giving a pensioner their money back too. read more

This is definitely my one stop shop. Hey, the deals are fantastic, for those of us on a skimpy budget, bring your own bags, don't use credit cards, get yellow "no name" or the Blue Menu items, and bag the bargains! I have known many of the employees there since before it was rebuild & became No Frills, and they are all friendly, chatty & helpful. These days with seafood being full of mercury, deli foods being loaded with processing chemicals that all cause cancer, & bread & baked goods are no good for anyone either, so I don't buy any of that anymore. For basic healthy food - it is the greatest. So really, no fooling, No Frills is bar far the best & it's not too big, so shopping is so much easier than those horrible big huge superstores!!!!!!! Just came back from my second visit to No Frills to get the advertised chicken on sale . After finding the bins empty again I politely asked two clerks when the chicken was too arrive . The first clerk directing me to another clerk whom told me that the shipment had come in earlier and was sold out and more was to come in tomorrow sometime . On the way out I noticed Dennis (the store manager) so I proceeded to ask him . He said they had not as yet received any chicken and that it only came in once a week because it was frozen. I then told him that his clerk told me the chicken was sold out, and I considered that a lie , Dennis answered with a brief and curt reply , my staff does not lie, I then asked him what he considered the comment to be if not a lie. Dennis with no regard for customer relations said (a mistake) If the manager dosen't care if his clerks are trained properly and of good character (who will). By the way the chicken was advertised as on sale from Friday this is now Saturday afternoon and now I understand it won't be in until Sunday (sometime) I understand that customer satisfaction isn't important at this store. read more

Terrible customer service! Yes the food is cheap, but my wife and i have had such bad experiences on several occasions when dealing with the cashiers/customer service at this location. It's almost unbelievable how rude and unprofessional a number of the cashiers are. This is place is cost-effective but wow, avoid this place at busy times. Its a crowded nightmare. The parking lot is atrocious too.
