Spent $70 and forgot one item. When I turned around to add it, without even removing my bag from the counter and with no one waiting behind me, I was told I would be charged an additional 50 cent transaction fee. This is not about the money. It is about principle and basic customer service. Penalizing a long time customer for immediately adding a forgotten item is absurd. This was handled poorly and left a very bad impression. There are many other stores along Victoria Drive that actually value their customers and understand how to treat them. Looking at other reviews, it is clear this store does not appreciate its customers. Why spend your money somewhere that does not value you? DO NOT GO HERE!!! That man was unbelievably rude! He shouted at me instead of speaking properly. I only step out of their parking lit for a moment, because I got a call saying my food order from the store next door was ready. I just needed 10 seconds to grab it, and then I was coming right back to shop at their store. I've been a customer since 2024 because I work across the street. Today, I wasn't working, so I picked up my lunch from Western Lake and planned to buy a drink and other stuff from their store after. But when I tried to explain, he yelled at me, 'Nice try!!! If you're picking up food from them, you need to buy something from us first!' He looked stressed and haggard, and I didn't want to make the situation worse, so I even moved my car out of their parking lot just so he wouldn't freak out more. After picking up my food from Western Lake, I actually came back to their store to buy a drink and more items, just like I intended. And then he had the nerve to say, 'Are you trying to prove a point?' And he is shouting outside I don't wanna hear it and step in to the store!!! Crowded, family-run grocery store caters to the local Asians. Aisles are narrow, probably a result of the store trying to cram as much product in as little space as possible. They offer a large variety of Asian and Southeast-Asian food products. Their fresh fruits and vegetables are decent quality and very low-priced. They also have a butcher section at the back with chicken, pork, beef and other assorted meats. I'd probably steer clear of the meats, however, due to concerns over cleanliness....but, that is probably true of any Chinese butcher shop. The two brothers that own/operate this grocery store are approachable and bend over backwards to meet your needs. You might even be able to negotiate a better price if you are making a large order. Parking is horrible because the lot is small, and you have to navigate around slow moving elderly patrons. The parking in the surrounding neighborhood is not much better since a popular Dim Sum Restaurant (Western Lake) is across the street. There are usually at least 2-3 checkout cashiers to make your wait in line short. It helps if you speak Chinese, but it's not mandatory. A great Asian grocery store for those with lower incomes and those living too far away from T&T Market. read more

Stocked with everything you need from an Asian market, from sauces to noodles to canned/packaged goods. This place is busy for a reason! I make a point of buying my groceries from here whenever I'm in the area. Tiny parking lot, so I usually park in the residential area. Credit card accepted, yay! read more

I had 5 extra produce bags that weren't used and I decided to take it home with my groceries until the cashier embarrassed me saying I'm stealing the bags and confiscated them. It was an embarrassing moment and very cheap of this market to make a scene for something so petty that only costs a penny per bag in the large quantities they purchase them. It was shocking to see someone act so cheap for something so petty. She didn't even tell me to pay extra and just confiscated them. read more

I call this the chaos on Victoria Drive more than the plaza which houses the London Drugs. If your ever cruising through this part of town on any given day, especially on the weekends and your on 34th and Victoria, and you wonder what the heck is going on, it's probably the people trying to get to this supermarket that are causing the double-parking, crossing the street, people turning right (or left) which is holding up more cars and busses with people walking through the crosswalk stopping cars, and all crazy-ass affair to try to get to their location (which is here). Word to the wise, park a block away, or you may start swearing under your breath, or swearing out the window before you even begin your shopping for groceries. This place is practically the Chinatown of the drive. As like every grocery store, this one puts their produce outside for you to shop, usually you will see the locals come to this place to pillage what deals they can get, as the produce is pretty fresh from what I saw. Once you enter this market, you will see everything from more produce, to canned Chinese goods, to dried noodles, to a packaged butcher shop in the back. I even saw facial products hanging on one of their display rack's, weird, but I guess this place is more convience store for the local folks than I thought. From people knowing the old routines of not lining up to pay for the daily Chinese newspaper and dropping their coin while the cashier is taking money from another patron, it's sheer chaos that works. The walkways aren't as roomy as your superstore, and you have to maneuver yourself between the tight spaces and the people who are shopping in the isles, some of them of age, and using walkers and any other assisting devices, so there is an art to shopping here. Definitely for the locals of this area, or if your in the area, it is your one stop shop, the only thing it doesn't have is cooked food from my visit there. read more

I had been looking for a particular brand of curry powder without much success. I had been to T & T, Hen Long and a few other grocery stores. I finally did a google search for Oriental grocery stores and started calling stores and checking websites for stores that had a website. I called Teng's Market and spoke to Evan. He said that they carried the curry powder that I was looking for and agreed to hold 4 bottles for me. I picked it up on Sunday. Now I know where to find my product. We stopped in for a look during a recent, weekday morning, walkabout in this area of Victoria Drive. Teng's really appeared to be 'the' market shopping spot in this neighbourhood, and at 10 am, was already very busy with customers. Two of the 'hottest' spots for shoppers while we were there, were: in the parking lot, for bedding plants (in boxes on the ground, and on shelving units adjacent the building), and within the semi-open area of the store immediately inside the entrance, mostly for specials on fresh Chinese greens (neatly stacked up along the walkway into the store). They had a rather nice and varied selection of bedding plants (veggies, herbs, and such), and the greens (bok choy, yu choy, gai lan, and etc.), looked bright and fresh, and were definitely keeping the employee stationed there, busy assisting customers. Prices on the greens were good, and quite comparable to what we've been seeing at Asian markets on Kingsway lately. I did a short browse within the store to check out some selections and prices of stuff & such we tend to look for and purchase in similar markets elsewhere. From my short look around, I was quite impressed with total variety of products, but did find pricing a touch higher than where we shop. I would rate what I saw much as others have described - a very decent market to shop if living in the neighbourhood, or nearby. For us, not a place we would seek out on its own, but definitely a market we would stop by if found in the area, to dine, driving through, or the like (especially to check out their produce specials). read more

good-size supermarket without the Richmond/Chinatown traffic, even their own 12 car parking lot to boot. Like the outdoorsy produce section, feels like you're in another part of Asia. Carries pretty well a lot of things, just not so much of each item but as pic shows, their tea selection is good. Prices are just okay, typical. So very cheap! Tasty stuff, good selection. I mainly visit for produce, but they have good prices on some juices and drinks as well. The other night I went by and got garlic, two yellow peppers, and two white onions for $1.67. Woah. I should mention also that they're open until 8PM right now every day except Sunday (7PM), but I think those hours are changing soon. That being said, because they have so many outdoor vegetable containers, they start bringing them in pretty early, and it makes the store mostly impossible to navigate. So I wouldn't come by later than 7:30 unless you just want to grab one or two veggies or something. read more

A busy supermarket full of almost everything a supermarket needs. I usually come here for fresh veggies and fruits. They are usually half the price of Safeway! They carry alot of local produce/fruits when available and let you know when they aren't. They have ladies outside selling some of the green chinese veggies and it reminds me of Chinatown when I was young and my mom would drag me around. They also upsell the fruit sometimes. In the back, they carry fresh chicken, pork and beef which I've had and they have been superb! They carry most of the chinese items I like, like rice rolls and a huge variety of noodles!! They also carry big jugs of Vita Soy (mmm) and mochi balls and Melona popsicles! I think that their way busy enough to have a high turnover in their produce and I like that it's half the price of Safeway for fresh stuff! read more

This is the second of two of my favorite grocery stores. Here's a sampling of some of the things I get here on a regular basis: Produce, fruit, vegetable buns for the steamer, pocky, free range eggs, soya milk, peanuts, mushrooms, frozen prawns/mussels, frozen lamb shoulder, fresh chicken breasts, green onion crackers, juice. I'm always amazed at how much stuff I end up getting here everytime I go out for a "few things". And even more surprising is how little I spend each time. Great prices. Ok. Great asian grocery store. Produce is fresh and cheap. You can get huge sacks of potatos (10lbs) for 3.49, large bags of rice for 6$, cheap fresh spinach, etc. etc. They also have a good selection of eggs for decent prices at 3$/dozen and dairy and soy products. There is a smaller meat and frozen food selection and a great selection of sauces. They have a small selection of dry goods and canned goods, but this store's focus is the vegetables/fruits and the sauces (soy, oyster, fish, etc.) and oils. As far as the service, it is quick and efficient. Not particularly friendly, but I don't really care about small talk and I understand they are super busy. I appreciate the large read-out so I can calculate my purchases easily and the fact that they take visa/mastercard. They also have a website where you can check out hours/specials. OMG this place is so busy during peak hours it's stupid. Being seriously need to learn how to walk. I get why people are such erratic walkers...the deals and selections for what it is are good. Just calm down people, be aware of your surroundings and don't act self centered. When you bump into someone at least say excuse me. Venting aside this is a good place to get the most reasonable produce. It looks somewhat dirty and the layout is less to be desired but over all there are produce gems to be found. read more

We passed by Teng's market after Dim Sum. They have an anniversary promotion going on but my parents said they don't have any good deals in there. The market is medium sized with vegetables and fruits outside and other canned goods etc inside. Make sure you dress warmly as that place is cold and the odd thing is i felt that it was colder inside than outside! Not sure if they take credit card or not as we didn't buy anything. I guess it is still a good place for groceries for the neighborhood closeby. Street parking available. read more

I was in this store jan 13, 2019 about 12:00 noon with my mom. I had to get something across the street while she shopped there. she was buying a lot of stuff so she was in there for about 1/2 hr. a person calls me up saying they are going to tow my vehicle because i'm there too long. i get to the parking lot and i'm the only vehicle in the parking lot and a unfriendly person says if you don't move it now i'm going to tow it. i said my mom is in your store shopping. he says nobody is in the store. i move my vehicle. i go into the store to meet my mom and we go to the till in 5 min and spend $80 in the store. when leaving the store i check to see if that guy is still by parking lot and say to him i'm leaving with my mom now with 4-5 bags in my hand and he says o.k. no apology just says goodbye. i don't think i will ever go back here again. if there was a no star rating i would give it no star rating. read more
