I decided to give them a try after I stopped going there over a year ago because of poor service and food. This time was great. I ordered the strawberry stuffed French toast recommended by my server. They had a very nice lady who I think was stopping at tables to check on us. She mentioned she was a new manager at Dennys and wanted to make sure our visit was perfect! We like the atmosphere. Charlie is a great server, our food is always hot and delicious and he makes going to the bar fun.

The food is always great but we go back all the time because of the service. We have become good friends with Charlie and Cole, the bartenders. I hadn't been to a Denny's in years, but I used to love the Red, White and Blue pancakes. So since they were back on the menu we decided to go for dinner. We were seated immediately, they were pretty busy. Our server was a younger guy, he was super friendly. We ordered the cinnamon and sugar pancake bites as an appetizer. For our meal, I ordered, the Red, White and Blue pancakes, my fiancee steak dinner and our daughter the kids slam breakfast. So let me just say, all of our food was good and came pretty quickly, our server was friendly and he even gave my kid a special cup that had a slice of bacon toy that came with it. My pancakes came out perfect, they were so good.....But I took away one star our pancake bites were overcooked and because of how chaotic and loud the kitchen area was. We were sitting across from where the food comes out, and there was one waitress in particular who was screaming through the window at the cooks the whole time we were there. Like every time she got food from the window she would have a super loud conversation with the cooks in the back. There were people dressed like they worked there and then there were employees just dressed in regular street clothes, which was kind of strange. The servers and hostess were all in black and the person I assume was the manager was in a button down dress shirt. But then there was a random guy in a football jersey ?? The food is always good but the service is TERRIBLE. Placed an order so I wouldn't have to wait and came 10minutes after it said it was done. But when I come they said it would still be another 20minutes until the food was ready. It was unbelievable. They need to fix their system if it saying it is done half an hour before it is. I'm not generally a fan of Denny's. My experiences in my local area have been lacking to say the least. But we took my grandma here for lunch a few days ago. My mother and grandma both ordered their $6 burgers, while I tried their $6 Chorizo Burrito. We were all impressed with the portions and the food and service at this Denny's. I go to Denny's probably twice a month. Order the same thing every time. MOONS OVER MY HAMMY! Not sure if I enjoy it that much or if I just absolutely love saying it. I've had more negative complaints than positive ones when it comes to Denny's in general. But it's Denny's... what do you expect? Although this one in Albany is nothing short than AMAZING! I was seated right away by whom I'm assuming is the manger. I came here today by myself, sat in a two person booth, he SAT DOWN at my table to take my drink order. I thought that was great! Got my drink in seconds. Got my appetizer within 4 minutes maybe, my meal followed before I got the first pancake puppy down. A different girl brought my food, I was mid bite when she brought it and we used humor and a little unofficial sign language to get my ranch. As I sat eating, I people watched and employee listened. The staff is great! They seemed... happy. Joked a lot and were on top of their stuff. Manager came to my table a couple times to check on me and every time he did it included perfect service with an equal mix of humor. After 35 years of being a loyal Denny's customer, I am happy that I found my favorite one just down the street from where I live. Oh!!!! I went down to Denny's to have drink and play a 20 on the machines. After cashing my ticket and I decided it smelled really good and would have something to eat and was greeted by Brianna who caught my attention upon walking in with a welcoming smile. What followed was amazing customer service I placed my order and then decided I should call my daughter to see what she would want and my phone was dead Brianna went above and beyond by offering her battery pack to me so I could complete my call. She was extremely busy but made plenty of time to check on me twice meanwhile and ask him when I was going and how old my daughter was. After I completed my order she told me to take my time with the battery pack. What came afterwards was the most amazing food I've ever had from a Denny's or restaurant alike the chef Keith even came out and asked if everything was up to par he was very rushed but made time to do that and I've never had that at a Denny's anywhere I have traveled. I'd say to request the manager Sarah then came out and asked me if everything was okay with a concerned look, I told her more than okay and complimented as I've described. She told me that she would definitely let them know but that if I wanted I could leave a help which I've never done in my 40 years but decided you know they did so good that they deserved it. You got a long-term customer in me good job to the two of you and Sarah, you're running a good ship keep bringing people like that with those attitudes and personal personalities not to mention absolutely stellar cooking!!! read more

Host greeted me with a mouth full of food. Wait 15 minutes while people walked past us before I asked someon if there was a server. Server was sweet, but the only server there, and she was bussing tables thile two young men stood at the counter by the hot food playing around. At one point I watched the younger pretending to box the older. The server asked someone to ring out guests three separate times while we waited 45 minuts for our two burgers. When she delivered our food ahe brought us one burger and a chicken skillet dish. When we pointed it out she said she must have grabbed the wrong food, but walked over to the chef and said "did I put that order in wrong?" Waited another few minutes for my daughters onion rings to be cooked. When her burger arrived I was still waiting for mustard, and by now the dining room was packed with still only one server who was also still bussing her own tables. I called one of the young men over from behind the counter and started to ask him for mustard right when Heather the server handed it to me. The young man said "Its not my job I am not a server I am a host" to which I said a snarky "well, your not doing that job well either." Admittedly, rude, but in the hour plus we had been there he really had not. His response was the real problem since he asked me to step outside to fight about it. I was so shocked I whistle across the restaurant to the manager. Again rude to all guests, but I was flabbergasted that an employee would take a critique by wanting me to go outisde and fight?!?! The mananger was a young man who came over and I shouted about what had just happened and insisted that he talk to his employee. Instead of offering appologies or even asking for more detail he asked me to explain to him why I upset his employee?!?!? I started to explain some of my concerns, but he was not listening to me, and became defensive rather than supportive. Your employee just threatened a customer!!! After I insisted that he just go and figure it out he told me that I was being rude and he was going to throw me out if I continued. Did you catch the part where an employee threatened to fight and harm a cuatomer???? Anyway he left we started to eat. As we were about finished he returned and said that his manager told him to to throw me out. I agreed to leave, but insisted on a contact number for a manager above him. He refused and told me to leave several times more. I started to leave and he asked me to PAY!?!? You have given poor service, had an employee threaten a customer, told the customer to get out when they tried to address it, and you still want me to pay for the privilege??? He then called his Manager and said " he wont pay" to which I said "you are throwing me out after your employee thretened me I need contact to someone to discuss this." The woman on the phone said to throw me out without paying. I insisted on contact info, and he threatent to call the police, so I sat and waited. He called someone and then said his manager was coming in. While I waited I noticed he was helping in the dining room by sweeping and bussed a table for the fist time in what now was almost 2hrs. I took a picture of a man in black (same clothes as other staff) standing behind the counter on their cellphone to prove my point about employees not working to which he pointed out it was a cook, " and my cook can be on his phone." I sat down and waited. A young lady came identified herself as the GM and we spoke. I explained my concerns and she became defensive at first, but then asked me why I was swearing at her employees whuch shocked me since I admit being rude to the host, and frustrated with the male manager, but I NEVER used a swear word in the entire experience. As upset and abused as I was feeling swearing is not in my lexicon. I offered to pay my bill after sharing my experience and she said "Yes, you will because you ate the food here" I was just tired of the whole thing, and said if he had just given me a number I would have paid and left. Worst breakfast I have ever tried to eat the chicken fried steak was under cooked tasted like flour the eggs over done and tasted rotten, hash browns greasy and salty. We made the trek to Denny's in Albany on eclipse morning, August 21. We arrived at Denny's before 5 AM to a completely packed house, a line out the door and a long waiting list. Denny's wasn't prepared for the deluge of early morning eclipse watchers. That is until Charlie arrived. He quickly took a large group to sit in the lounge. Within minutes he had a trays of coffee and water delivered to customers, silverware delivered to everyone and orders taken. He was fast as a whip, courteous, peppy and never lost his cool. The televisions were turned on so we could watch eclipse coverage and the menu simplified to three options to keep things moving swiftly. Everyone ate and then the bills were delivered in one pass. Charlie's ability to assess the problem and figure out how to deliver service quickly was beyond impressive. Charlie is a prince and I hope that Denny's appreciates and rewards the gem they have with Charlie and the crew that worked that morning. The Eclipse was the main event and the impressive Denny's experience will be part of our memories of that great day. read more

Even though they are busy every time we go and we have to wait for a table, once we get sat drinks are there quickly and even the food is there 5-15 minutes after ordering. They have a really good menu for breakfast. I love the grain pancakes and my kids love the kids menu and the cool cups they have for an additional cost. read more

Well, I have to put a disclaimer on here - its DENNYS. I don't go expecting gourmet. Just hot, fast, reasonably priced food, with no-nonsense service. I went tonight for the first time in ages for dinner. I was alone, which is no big deal to me. I actually like eating alone. My waitress, Kim (I think that was her name), was very friendly, and very fast. She gave me plenty of time to decide on what I wanted to eat, and was quick about refilling my Coke. I chose the Spicy Cowboy Chop Steak. (Don't look at the nutritional info, I may as well have eaten a Whopper). I chose the sides of the 'Smoked Cheddar Mashed Potatoes' and the 'Sauted Spinach'. The potatoes: Small serving with a dejected looking sprinkle of grated cheese. Taste? Fake potatoes, good cheese. Not bad, not awesome. Spinach: Good-sized serving (about 1cp of leaves raw) of spinach, slightly wilted from being sauted. Needed salt, but otherwise good. I could have eaten much more. Yum. Chop Steak: Palm sized piece of "hamburger steak" with pepper jack cheese melted on it. Sauted onions and red peppers and deep fried onion straws on top. A little greasy, but very tasty. Pleasantly surprised. Thinking about duplicating it at home, using less heart-attack-inducing ingredients. Note: Not spicy whatsoever. Total bill: 8.00. The waitress or the manager (not sure who it was) comped my soda. I thought it was a mistake and tried to pay for it, but they declined. For my money, an excellent experience - tasty dinner, good service, clean restaurant. Another note: Breakfast for 2.00?! Seriously - you can get an egg and a biscuit and gravy for breakfast there for 2.00. Blows my mind - that is cheaper than McDonalds. read more

This is my second visit to this particular Dennys. It's great for stopping in for a bite to eat while traveling up or down I-5. I was sat down right away, got my food within 10 minutes, food was hot and tasty, coffee cup and water glass never went empty, waitress was very kind, and service was great. For a variety of foods at any time of day, Denny's is almost always the go to spot for my friends and I. While lately the service has been a little less than friendly, the food has yet to change. Denny's has a huge menu with everything from breakfast to burritos, but I tend to always gravitate toward their Fried Cheese Melt. The Fried Cheese Melt is a basic grilled cheese with mozzarella sticks stuffed into it and a side of fries as well. All of the food in the Fried Cheese Melt meal comes at an extremely low price of $4. The menu is full of great foods and drinks just like this, and very few of them break the price of $10 per person. When you want to eat for cheap, or just want a good meal, Denny's is a great place to go. Unless you hit them on an off night, I can't recommend Denny's enough to anyone near one. They may not be few in numbers, but obviously there's a reason for that. read more
