Gerbils from Denny's, exploring their new home
Timothy K.

We've been customers of Denny's Pet World for decades (mostly for fish), but today's visit reminded me that I haven't given credit where it's due. Last year, our kids were given two gerbils who were around four years old, so when nature took its course (RIP Nibbles and Snugs), they were heartbroken. After holding a memorial service and cleaning out the cage, they looked up at me with hopeful eyes and a "Dad... do you think maybe...?" Yeah yeah, OK. There are lots of big box pet stores in the area, but I'm making the assumption that a smaller local shop likely treats their animals better and hopefully sources more ethically too. In any case, I'd rather shop local when I can and the prices are competitive. I called to see if they had any gerbils available and Aela let us know that they had some males in store. She said to ask for her when we came by. About an hour later, we dropped by and found Aela. She brought the gerbils out in their enclosure and was great not only with the animals, but my very excited children as well. She answered our questions and seemed to really enjoy her job, which makes it so much more fun for everyone involved. She took care of getting them in a box with some bedding and sent us off with smiles all around. I'm so thankful that Denny's is part of the neighborhood, and for great employees like Aela who make the experience fun.

Look who's excited for his trail mix!

Squirrel food heaven! Okay, I know - squirrel food, not really your typical pet food review. But I've been feeding squirrels for a long time (I lived in Ohio for almost 40 years ), and have tried a fair share of different foods for them. We were out getting our Christmas tree a couple of weeks ago, and happened to drive by Denny's Pet World. It just *looked* like the kind of place that would have some good options for supporting my (super cool) hobby, and boy it did not disappoint! Their own branded bag of "squirrel trail mix" that I bought is full of walnuts, cashews, and pistachios and frankly looks good enough for me to snack on (don't worry I won't!). And it was really well priced! So if you're a backyard wildlife enthusiast like me, this is definitely the spot! The store is HUGE and I also picked up a couple of great cat toys for my indoor kitties. I didn't have a chance to get around the whole store, but IMO it's definitely worth another trip out from Seattle just to check out what they've got, so I can't wait to go back.

I've been shopping at Dennys for 20 years, give or take. In that time, I have seen many employees come and go. They have all been friendly and helpful for the most part and to the best of their abilities. In that time, there have been 2 employees that really stood out when I think of great customer service. One was the old Aquatics manager who was there for a very long time but recently departed a few years ago. The other is Ben, who also works in the Aquatics department. Ben's customer service has always gone above and beyond. Ben is always friendly, patient, courteous, and extremely knowledgeable. In my opinion, Ben is an essential part of Dennys Aquatics, and I've recommended many of my clients to go to Dennys and ask for him if they need any assistance with their aquariums.

What kind of rodents do they have?

Typically dwarf hamsters, teddy bear hamsters, and gerbils. Sometimes they'll have fancy rats and guinea pigs, make sure to call and ask though!

I've been to several shelters in the past year to adopt and it's been up and down. I went here on a Saturday after work and brought home my fur ever baby girl. I'm a proud happy fur mom . This is the happiest day of my life . I cried so many tears of joy when I was able to adopt my new female dog. I named her Sasha. Previously known as Oldsmobile. Sasha is the absolute sweetest girl ever. Sasha is what my heart needed. As a puppy she is very smart. Introducing to crate has been fairly well. Eating wow this girl can eat, run, do sprints around the house, yard and is super excited. I am too lol. Potty training is going very well in the morning she wakes me up with kisses to say she has to go and stands by door we go out. We have a routine. Totally recommend Homeward Per adoption to everyone. I know that you are underfunded but really--why is this so bizarrely inept and broken? Just make a PAPER LIST and call us, like a restaurant hostess would do. I was in a pretty helpless position as I was not due to be home for several days. My son came up with a great idea and checked online to see if our dog had been found and turned in to the RASKC. Sure enough, she was there. My wife went down the next morning, paid the fee and picked her up. She had been well treated, and we are very thankful that they found her and gave her a good safe place until we could come get her. My son said that she was so excited to see him. I love how The Whole Cat and Kaboodle provides adoptions for cats, in addition to grooming treatments, cat boarding, and a bit of retail. This is the perfect place to bring a kid who want to interact with cats and are open to coaching from the adult that brings them. I overheard you can pay for an hour of play and self-serve drinks in the cat room. If you're short on time there are cats who roam the shop, but if you have littles I highly recommend coaching them how to approach a cat prior to coming into the store. Street parking is available as well as pay-per-hour lots. We brought our two tuxedo cats for a nail trim. They are newly adopted and we were unsure how they would do with a full grooming service. Like many shelters in the area, we were required to fill out an application before being allowed a visit. Luckily, we passed the test. In fact, we had a response within a 1/2 hour of sending our application, very late on a Thursday night I might add. By the next morning we had made an appointment for 11:30 that day. When we arrived at Caesars, I couldn't believe how much love the owner had for her rescue dogs, cute, funny looking, shy or not. We proceeded to check out the little black lab mix we had come to see. The Owner used this time to share everything she knew about the dog, where he came from, how she got him, all the shots he had gone through, etc. She had taken him to the vet, poor guy had kennel cough and not-so-great stool. She gave us every last detail in order for us to be fully informed new parents. They even did a home inspection to make sure what we said on our application was true. We have had a couple follow up questions a few days later and have received almost immediate replies to help us on our way. We were provided all the vet paperwork available. Our puppy already had his chip and was neutered, we received all the invoices with that information as well. You could tell she had a definite passion for what she does and takes the greatest care in ensuring the animals are nursed back to health if needed, provided a loving and attentive environment and placed in good homes.

My dog has been groomed weekly her entire life, and for the past two years I've done it myself because grooming is very expensive. Since I was going to be out of the country and my dog would be staying with a sitter, I wanted her to be clean and comfortable, so I carefully scheduled this appointment through the Petco app and provided all the required information. Minutes after checking in, Lacey called me to ask the exact same questions I had already spent 20 minutes filling out in the app. I let her know I was annoyed at the redundancy, and she reacted as if I was the problem. I even told my spouse at the time: "We're going to have trouble with this person." Unfortunately, I was right. On the day of the appointment, the sitter called to tell me Petco sent my dog home because, according to Lacey, she "wasn't able to stand" for grooming. Instead of calling me--something I had specifically requested if there were any issues--Lacey clipped her nails only and charged $26 without my permission. Not only did I waste hours scheduling this, but my sitter wasted time and gas driving, and I ended up having to pay $110 at another groomer to get the job done properly. To make matters worse, the sitter mentioned the Petco grooming area was loud, chaotic, and unpleasant for the pets. Overall, this was a terrible experience that showed complete disregard for both clients and their animals. Never take your pet here.
