UPDATE: RIP Mowgli After $10k+ of medical care, Mowgli passed away traumatically from a seizure that wouldn't respond to medication. We are devastated, and our 4yr old is still asking about him. He developed EPILEPSY with grand mal seizures which had resulted in numerous ER visits. I've never been a fan of puppy stores, I have always been an advocate for pet adoption. But three weeks ago we walking into Puppylannd just to take a peek and have our daughter interact with some puppies. The staff were very pleasant, professional and accommodating. The facility was very clean and the puppies were well groomed and all appeared to be in good shape and spirits. Long story short, our daughter found her match. Price range $$$$$$$ was way more than I would have ever imagined paying for a puppy, but at the end of the day we walked out happy & excited. Our vet examined our puppy and found him to be in great health. And best of all our pup made himself at home since day one. He's been doing great with potty training, no issues with leach walking and sleeps throughout the night in his kennel. I'm about to have to put down my precious Cavalier after less than 2 years because of genetic issues. Our baby was sick on arrival! I do have vet records matching less than a week from purchase. We loved our girl though so I paid a few hundred dollars for treatment and isolated her for 6 months until the parasite was undetected. I see many reviews here that are just ridiculous so I wanted to provide my experience. First off, you have to follow their rules to see the puppies which I appreciate. It helps keep the pups safe and safeguard from stealing. I went in randomly to look and see if they had a Pomeranian. They had the cutest little fox face Pomeranian so I brought my husband back to look. We sat and played with him for awhile. He seemed very vibrant, healthy, and definitely show quality. My husband had to have him so we took him home. Puppies are pure bread with breeder information provided. They come with a month of AKC pet insurance which pays for your first exam. They ask that you take your new pup to the vet after a couple days. He also came with everything you need to get him home and cared for for at least the first month. We took him to the vet and just as we thought he is very healthy. We have had him for over a month and I am actually shocked that he hasn't had any digestive issues as purebreds seem to have. Overall we couldn't be happier. I must mention that they are pricey BUT they do provide the opportunity to walk out with a dog as opposed to meeting a breeder and getting on a list and waiting for months. We liked that as we had been looking on rescue sites for years with no luck. You need to do your due diligence in making sure the dog seems healthy and fit for your life. Dogs don't magically come trained although we were told he was already partially trained and he was even though we were skeptical. Ok I have a long list of pros and cons - trying to be objective here with and give solid, honest information. We got our girl here last September and she is perfection - she is a phantom mini poodle and she is the best dog. So here we go: PRO: - the service: the team was amazing, you could tell they all loved the doggies and were knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. I never felt pressured, they showed paperwork on every dog we asked to see and made sure to explain hygiene expectations and I appreciated that they separated the dogs by age and vax status to keep the puppies from getting sick. - you get really extensive paperwork and history on your dog including complete vet work up, which you should expect when you buy a dog anywhere especially one that claims AKC certification, but we were able to trace lineage, look up the breeder, and the vet - our dog is super healthy! when you purchase, you agree to take your dog to the vet within a few days for a check up. you run the risk of certain hereditary issues with pure bred breeds, we had paperwork clearing our puppy of all, we had copies of her x-rays, and we had our vet take a look as agreed. we had a clean bill of health, a slightly loose patella but we put her on a joint support supplement and waited until she was 8 months to get her spayed and she's doing just great. - she came to us well socialized to other dogs and people, and she has an amazing temperament Ok, now for Cons: - puppy mills suck. It's so sad some of the conditions that birthing dogs live in. It's really sad, I did extensive research on my puppy and the breeder was on the humane society horrible 100 list so I felt extremely guilty for contributing to the continuation. On the other hand, our baby was already born and she needed a home and we needed her. - price! all in, we paid around $5500 which is outrageous. that was without the puppy protection plan. they did include a crate, pillow, and a full bag of food and vitamins - we applied for puppy payments and ended up paying cash. honestly this is the way to go. I would not recommend the payment plans. They're pretty risky, you're likely paying between $200-$300 a month and the interest rates are astronomical, like 70%-80% and if god forbid something happen to your baby you're stuck with the payment for forever Obviously I can't speak to how the dogs are treated when there aren't customers in the store, but from what I saw, the place was clean and the animal well cared for. Final thoughts: do you. I have questions about the puppies being ethically sourced, but based on the experience we had and the quality of our dog, this is a fine place to get a furry friend. Found out about the puppy mill sourcing afterwards. The price of the puppy caught me off guard. I haven't had any issues with the dog itself. They had a bunch of vaccines done for him, but our vet said they tend to overvaccinate and overcharge people. Also they have a small reimbursement for neuter/spay services but it took 4 months, multiple emails, and reporting to the BBB to see the check even after they approved it on their side. Customer service is slow and they will keep giving you an answer to put you off for a while. In general, I would not recommend this place. (by the way you can't hold the dog.) you can only play with them on the floor which is WEIRD. After she meets the dog I can tell she's already over the moon in love with this little pup... now here is where it gets weird. Mario one of the workers comes over to talk with my mom and is talking about the dog.. I then asked Mario how much the pup was and he said 6,700! Ok that's a lot of money for a pup however my mom was in love and they did bring The price down to 5,000. my mom got a female Yorkie with the intions of breeding her in the future.. she asked Mario MANY times if the dog can be breeded and he replied EVERY-TIME that she absolutely can. As they are filling out the paperwork Mario is going over all the fees and blah blah blah.. skips some papers and explains another paper and sign her sign her sign here. My mom signs and then we can leave with our new puppy.. THEY finally let us hold our new puppy and we get in the car and start for our two hour ride home when my mom looks at the puppy's belly and sees stitches... they didn't mention anything about surgery? So we look in the paperwork and notice the dog HAS IN FACT had surgery that they didn't tell us anything about and that does in fact prevent her from having puppies! We called our local vet and he said we can ABSOLUTLY not breed this puppy. The next day I called Puppy land and guess who answered the phone.. MARIO! He sold us the dog in the first place. I asked Mario about this and he said "oh I'm sorry I didn't tell you about that your mom was talking a lot... I had a brain fart and didn't mention it." Im sorry... what? Mario stated his manager is in PTO for over a week.. I explained that I wanted to talk to someone now as my mom is about to get back on a plane with her puppy to Arkansas.. He then put me on hold and a women named Macy who is the "team lead." Apologized for everything and stated she would call her boss and call me back by end of day. Im sure you can guess what happened next.. I never received a call. lol. Shocker. I called back the next day and Macy answered the phone informing me that there regional manager was actually in the store and can talk to me.. Alright.. Sabrina then answers the phone and she was about as rude as you can get. She knew the situation already and was quick to tell me my mom signed paperwork stating that Puppy land does not guarentee breeding rights and yada yada .. when I explained that mArio told us nothing about the dogs previous surgery she could care less because the contract was already signed. (MIGHT I ADD nothing in the contract talked about surgery! ALSO there was no paperwork explained or signed about surgery.) They stuff the paperwork in a folder and Give it to you WHEN YOURE WALKING OUT THE DOOR.) I explained to her that Mario didn't tell us anything about the surgery or we wouldn't have picked that pup as the whole reason for buying a dog for 5,000 dollars was to breed her. Overall the experience of pet shopping with them was very good. I got our golden retriever pup who was 11 weeks old from them at the renton store. Staff is knowledgeable about the puppies and friendly in general. Their paperwork was quick and we got the pup the same day in an hour. For instance I was lured into financing by mentioning that it would be soft credit check and there's no interest if paid in 6 months but wasn't told about the $240 additional processing fee. please please PLEASE don't buy a pup from here guys. i went in here to take a look at some potential pups but these poor babies are kept in such poor conditions. they're kept in basically glass aquarium tanks all day with nothing but a water bottle and shredded newspaper. no toys, no entertainment, just keep in a glass cage with other pups. at first i thought it was cute the pups were playing with each other but some were "fighting" in a way that didn't look healthy for them. biting each other's ears, growling in a non playful way when one would get in the others way. some were just sleeping probably out of boredom and absolutely nothing to do in there. it's just such a sad sight. this place KNOWS what they're doing is wrong BECAUSE they specifically ask you "please don't take pictures of the pups in their cages but only in the play pens" because the play pens are well maintained and LOOK like the pup is being taken care of. they don't want you to see the poor conditions the pups are REALLY living in. please don't buy your pup here, these pups are sad and unhealthy due to the poor living conditions they're in, supporting this place feels immoral. their customer service is nice bc they want you to pay thousands for a sad puppy. read more
