Wow! What a find! I'm completely in love with this place. They have all sorts of exotic birds one can dream of and everything needed for their care. They even have an onsite bird boarding hotel. Parking is easy to find and the store is located in a great area to escape the hustle and bustle of Seattle. I will definitely visit again!

Denise's Parrot Place could not be FURTHER from a conventional pet store, where they do what they have to to skate through, taking care of the animals efficiently (or sometimes, not well enough), so that they can move "the Product" through as quickly as possible. Denise's birds are not products, they are individually hand-raised and well loved creatures. First of all, all of the birds Denise sells hatch in her aviary or those of her two local partners. No mass-produced, anonymous birds here. Next, all of the babies are hand-raised in the breeders' home, taught basic things like being gentle, kisses, how to be carried, and the commands you'd want a bird to know. Many of them also learn to talk a little bit. The store is fantastically clean. The birds are bright-eyed, perfectly feathered, and happy and curious. No droopy feather-pickers here! Denise and her staff make sure that all of the birds get plenty of physical and mental exercise every day, that they are handled every day, and that they eat species-appropriate fresh food. All of this effort shows. I have never seen such a lively bunch of birds! Her store is well-stocked with a wide variety of parrots, small birds, and exotics. She will take reservations for birds that she has not yet hatched. She is very careful about matching people up with the right bird for their family and experience level, and would probably refuse to sell you a bird if she thought your home would be unsuitable or that you would not provide adequate care. Her website has a lot of great information for people considering getting their first bird, or choosing an addition to their existing pet bird family. They also do bird boarding (with strict health requirements and a great level of veterinary care) and grooming; bird day care that can help you address behavioral issues with your bird, and 24-hour phone support for your bird's entire life. The great care put into breeding and hand-raising the birds does result in a slightly higher price than what you'll see at Petsmart or other bird dealers, but you'll know the entire life history of your bird, it will come to you much more trained and tame than many of those commerically-produced unsocialized birds, and you'll have a great ongoing source of support and information in Denise. I think the extra couple hundred dollars are worth it when you're considering a family member who will live for 50 or more years!

This store is a lot of fun. The owner is great. They took their time explaining and showing the birds and parrots even though we didn't buy anything. A fun store to visit with lots of chirping and great aymosphere.

I take my budgie here to get his nails clipped. They are very quick so it seems less traumatic for him. Recommend.

Words can't express all the hard work, time, passion, and love she has put into her wonderful birds and also into supporting and educating their families. Barbi's Bird House is the place to go for a new bird (and for toys and other supplies)! My family brought home our precious baby budgie, Bondi, from Barbi just over a month ago. What a joy the whole experience has been, from initially contacting Barbi, to multiple text and phone conversations leading up to our appointment. I've had 4 budgies over the years so am not a newbie, but I always want to keep learning how to care for them better. I've gotten great new information and tips from Barbi. She has all the food, toys, and supplies you could need, and is available for questions anytime. She's passionate about bird health and diet and will support you in giving your birds the best life possible. She takes the time to make sure you and your new bird are the right match for each other and you're fully prepared before heading home. And if you order toys from her, she knows exactly which ones your bird will love. You're not just buying a bird from Barbi; you're gaining new friends in her and her husband Roar. They are so kind and welcoming, you will feel like part of their family. As someone who adores budgies and feels they often don't get nearly the care and appreciation they deserve, I am so grateful to Barbi. Finding anyone who breeds them has been difficult, let alone someone who will put in the time and effort to hand-feed them. It's been evident how this pays off in greatly reducing stress and speeding up adjustment to a new home. Right away, Bondi was already months ahead of a pet store budgie in being more used to and positive about people and not getting scared of new things. Knowing that not all budgies receive very good care, I find that getting to see what Barbi puts into them is a balm to the spirit. Thank you, Barbi!

Most recently I came with my mom in March 2021 looking just for the suet. It is a cool store with lots of bird-centric products. I could easily see walking through the store just looking at everything, but the day we stopped we had frozen food in the car so had to make our trip quick. Workers are friendly and insightful in their interactions. We found the suet easily and the COVID-19 procedures were clearly communicated at the front of the store. Prices for the merchandise are fair. Products are artistically displayed in such a way that jump-starts the creative process for potential new items for the critters in the back yard. The store sign on the outside of the building makes the store visible from the street/parking lot. Parking is available in a large parking lot that is shared with a number of other businesses at the Lake Forest Park Town Centre. Last year, our kids were given two gerbils who were around four years old, so when nature took its course (RIP Nibbles and Snugs), they were heartbroken. After holding a memorial service and cleaning out the cage, they looked up at me with hopeful eyes and a "Dad... do you think maybe...?" Yeah yeah, OK. There are lots of big box pet stores in the area, but I'm making the assumption that a smaller local shop likely treats their animals better and hopefully sources more ethically too. In any case, I'd rather shop local when I can and the prices are competitive. I called to see if they had any gerbils available and Aela let us know that they had some males in store. She said to ask for her when we came by. About an hour later, we dropped by and found Aela. She brought the gerbils out in their enclosure and was great not only with the animals, but my very excited children as well. She answered our questions and seemed to really enjoy her job, which makes it so much more fun for everyone involved. She took care of getting them in a box with some bedding and sent us off with smiles all around. I'm so thankful that Denny's is part of the neighborhood, and for great employees like Aela who make the experience fun.

The first day Suzanne met Cricket, Cricket felt comfortable enough around her to fall asleep, which a scared bird would never do, so that was a huge sign to me that Cricket was in good hands. Suzanne was also kind enough to send daily updates and pictures to us via email, which, again, helped us feel comfortable that Cricket was truly getting the best care. My husband and I have always had a hard time leaving Cricket when we go on vacation, but we now have the peace of mind in knowing that when we do have to leave our baby bird behind, she will be getting the same quality care and attention that she gets in her own home. That's priceless to us! (but, speaking of which, Suzanne's prices are very reasonable considering the level of care. Bonus!)
