Sue was the first person I had contact with, and she was so accommodating to all of my requests. She made sure that she addressed all of my questions. and made some really great suggestions. Shea was our DJ for the night, and he was fantastic. He's friendly and outgoing and everything he played was perfect. He was able to navigate the mood of the crowd and knew exactly what to play. Customer: One thing to note is I have the new macbook pro which requires a different hdmi cable than the standard ones. Thanks! Denon & Doyle: I believe that is a USBC to hdmi adaptor, which we don't have. We use macs, but do not have the new one. You might wish to pick up the adaptor. Customer: glad we had this discussion then before I assumed that your company would have all adapters for their client needs. Denon & Doyle: If you are not feeling comfortable with your rental, please let me know. I will refund your payment. Customer: At this point we just need to proceed. As a customer though, its not a positive experience to have a vendor communicate to a client that I need to provide my own cable. We booked them to DJ our wedding this past June and I have nothing but positive things to say about Sue and the team. Due to COVID, we had to push the wedding back a full year. They were totally supportive and easy to work through while we landed a new date. Then, in the process of setting up our playlists, processional, recessional songs etc. they were really helpful in giving us options, nudging us when we needed to, and then adapting on the fly. I can't even begin to tell you how much of a pleasure it was to work with this team! Between my caterer & these folks, my day was stress free and close to perfect. Between my day of wedding coordinator and my DJ from Denon & Doyle, my wedding could not have been in more capable hands. We were impressed by Denon & Doyle's initial presentation for wedding couples and loved the free wine and snacks. We loved that they never up-sold us anything and were easy going about making changes. Their online wedding planner was key to helping us tell them all the songs we wanted (we spend literally a year picking songs). They were competitively priced and exceedingly professional throughout the whole planning process. The day of, Kevin exceeded expectations. He provided sound for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. He was prompt and professional. He had a great read on our VERY diverse crowd and was familiar with our venue. We hired Tim Phelps to be our wedding DJ last May at Piedmont Community Church and he was incredible. We spoke a few times on the phone before the wedding and he was very serious about making sure that he understood what I wanted. I pushed back on some of his suggestions and he was totally open to it. Normally I'm not a huge fan of going with the "biggest name" in Denon & Doyle so I was skeptical at first. We booked Denon and Doyle earlier this month for our wedding. We could not have been happier with their services. We did all the pre-wedding prep/meetings with Sue and she was great! Sue was extremely professional and so easy to talk to; she made us feel so comfortable and confident during the lead up. The day of the wedding, our DJ was wonderful. He not only played awesome tunes and had some fun games for the guests, but also kept the timeline and tempo of the night perfectly. We also had a photo-booth provided by the company. My wife and I just got married in July 2023 and couldn't be happier with the experience. Denon & Doyle was the preferred vendor for our wedding venue, which was lucky because we were not able to find a more affordable option anywhere in the Bay Area, and staying within budget was one of our top priorities when booking vendors. Not only was Denon & Doyle the best value, but Sue and her team were extremely helpful and professional throughout the planning process! My wife and I were a bit worried about vendors getting booked far in advance, so we pounced and put down a deposit several months out from our wedding date. But then when it came time to walk through the final details our day, Sue had all of our notes saved in a very organized fashion. However, the best part for me was the white glove service related to lighting - we could not decide how many lights we needed to give our venue a strong party vibe, and Sue recommended the perfect amount. We chose Denon & Doyle as our DJ and photo booth vendor for our wedding based on the excellent yelp reviews. We attended their showcase, which they walk you through how they format, manage and announce a wedding, give you some song ideas, and show their line of products they offer and to mingle with the DJ's. We felt very confident we chose the right partner. They have an online planning tools which you can add and change all of your wedding information and songs up until a few days before your event. You then receive a call from them to go over all of the songs you chose, timing, order of events, etc. Sue was very easy to work with, always e-mailing and checking in and was always there to answer any questions I may have. She helped me pick out a few songs and choose our background for our photo booth. After speaking to her about our music choices and the overall feel we were going for, she paired us up with DJ John Sanabria. The day of our wedding, we had paid for an extra hour for the DJ to be at our ceremony and provide the wireless mic and sound. The music and timing worked out well, but, not even 3 minutes into our ceremony, the wireless mic kicked back a loud feedback noise and went out. None of our guests heard our ceremony and handwritten vows and I am still very disappointed about that. When it came time to introduce our parents, the DJ mispronounced my step-fathers name. I am still perplexed by this as his name is Michael, quite easy, but he kept calling him Mitchell. He was corrected yet when we did our father daughter dance, he again called him Mitchell. It is now his new nickname. When my husband and I were introduced and went into our first dance, the wrong song was played. The DJ played a duet version, which was not what we chose. All of our guests loved the photo booth and the props provided were fantastic. I did have to follow-up with them a few weeks after our wedding asking for all of the proofs, but that was the only issue regarding the photo booth. A few days after the wedding, I did email Sue to address my concerns regarding the DJ. She did apologize and refund the extra hour we had paid for the wireless mic and DJ to be at our ceremony, but having our guests hear our ceremony and vows would have meant so much more than what the extra hour cost. read more

I worked with Dan Ohrman, who was a great communicator and advised on how to coordinate the broadcast. They provided a videographer the day of the event to capture the video from two cameras and to stream the audio. They set up a website with a custom URL for guests to log into, and started the event by broadcasting a photo montage. They were able to involve guests to participate in the ceremony from across the country. It all went off without a hitch. read more

We were excited to see they were still in business. We inquired about them, not sure if they had changed with the times. They hosted a great open house where we could ask questions and meet the DJ's. Ours from all those years ago had retired. But not all was lost. We were given Kevin to DJ. Since we had ages ranging from 90 to 3 he played a great variety of music. Once the dancing started, it didn't stop until the end. Kevin keeled everything rolling along . I still have 2 kids to go. I will be hiring them again. read more

As a woman with a wedding to plan, getting a DJ proved to be a challenge. It is not the same as just hiring a DJ for your private parties. Getting a DJ for your wedding is a more difficult proposition, especially if you also work full time. How so, oh let me explain the ways: 1. If you contact a booking agency, they call you -- usually where they can reach you during the day to talk to you, then they give you a list of DJs that they know are available and their rates. Then you are to contact the DJs and/or have them contact you. This usually leads to lots of phone calls during the day. They are usually not so great at working with email. 2. Let's just say that the booking agency contacted you (1 call and 1 email) and then the djays call you, then you are already at 7 calls and maybe a few follow ups. If you only spend 15 minutes on each call, then you are looking at 3.5 hours or so of time on the phone. On top of that, interviewing the DJ over the phone is difficult proposition in it of itself. You simply can't get very much information other than a few peripheral questions. If you want to see them in action, you might have to crash a wedding that is out of your way and will eat away more time. What I like about Denon & Doyle is that they organize a little shin dig after work hours to showcase their DJs. This means that with Denon & Doyle, I spent 5 minutes on the phone giving my wedding date and contact information, then they send me a packet to present themselves professionally. Then, they invite you to one of their regular showcase, where you get to meet most of their DJs and sit through a professional presentation of what this company does. They serve beverages, wine, beer, and appetizers. The whole thing takes about 1.5 hours and you can decide which DJ you like and make a reservation when you are ready. This also makes it easy for both you and your future spouse to check this out and make a decision together, instead of dealing with a lot of back and forth. They are slightly more pricey but I find this experience less frustrating. Post-wedding update: I took off a star because we had some issues at the event: the DJ messed up the mother and son dance and cut off the song at 1 minute instead of asking others to join in as we requested, the microphone stopped working and there was no backup mic for most of the wedding, and the guest commented that it was difficult to get requests in. read more

BEWARE: Denon & Doyle had all their negative reviews removed from their Yelp site. I know this because they removed a couple of my friend's negative reviews. From consumer to consumer, just be careful about believing what you read, because you are obviously reading only the positive reviews (with all the negative ones removed). In addition, Denon & Doyle is now accusing me that I'm asking my friends to write negative reviews about them. Not only am I highly offended that they have wrongly accused me, but they need to do their homework because I don't even KNOW the person who recently wrote a negative review about them named 'W.W'. And they're accusing me that I know this person?? My friends who attended my wedding wrote their own reviews about Denon & Doyle at their own will and discretion. I did NOT ask them to write a negative review on my behalf. If anything, I told them that it wasn't necessary and it wasn't a big deal because Denon & Doyle gave me a full refund and that I was over it. I wrote my own review and left it at that. And now they're accusing me of "slandering"? Falsely accusing a former client without any proof is what I call slandering. If you were a guest at my wedding and witnessed how the DJ Tyrone Spencer screwed up multiple times, you'd probably write a review as well. Jon was my DJ and he did an awesome job! Not only did he do his job well, he helped to make sure everything was running smoothing and on schedule following the timeline I gave him. Brian is the music coordinator that you will work with prior to the wedding. Brian was available for questions months before the wedding and was always efficient in getting back to me if I needed anything. What truly stood to out to me was when Brian called me the week of the wedding "just to check-in with me" and see how I was doing. He asked if there were any last minute changes and gave me his cell number in case anything came up. WOW. I choose Denon & Doyle because of their DJ showcase - it sold me! They invite you to event where you get to meet each DJ, learn about their different styles, see what packages and products they offer, learn about tips & tricks, all while enjoying appetizers and beverages (yes, beer & wine too). I can't say enough great things about my experience with Denon & Doyle and what a relief it was to be in the hands of true professionals. Never like giving a local business 1 star but this was not a good experience at the end of the day. Awful to say because it started out fantastic. We needed a DJ for our wedding and we reached out to them about a month prior, so fortunately they were able to accommodate us! They we're very affordable and easy to communicate with. Before the wedding I spoke with a nice guy who went over all the details which I loved! Gave me confidence this would be a great experience. But the day of the wedding was awful. The DJ obviously wasn't the guy I was speaking with (but I knew that), however I knew he had all of our details. Let's start with the procession: the music that was played for the wedding part stopped mid way. How awful. This is the first moments of our wedding and that happens... Then when our song comes on the song stops again! During our walk! Such an awful experience. Then comes dinner: while our groomsmen walk in the DJ is announcing names. Now I get mispronouncing a name, but when someone's name is Paterson and you say "Peterson" that's not ok.. There was also some feedback noises during the speeches. Now comes the dance party: this was a gay wedding. Pretty simple play Britney, gaga, Beyoncé. That's it! I had to ask him twice to just play that kind of music then my friend had to ask too... But that wasn't the worst part - during the mother father dance, the DJ had the wrong version of the song. He didn't have the correct song at all, so we had to just choose a different song he had. Can't say that I'd recommend this business to anyone. I was sold by the reviews when I found them, but my experience was not up to par. Definitely do yourself a favor and think twice about this business. read more

To sum up Chris Mowery in one word is asking a lot. If we absolutely had to choose only one, it would be epic. Chris isn't simply a D-Jay, he is a plethora of entertainment. We first met him after attending a social mixer at Denon & Doyle's location in Pleasant Hill. It was a great opportunity to see firsthand the services they provide not to mention you get to meet and select who you want to work with. He was caring, provided suggestions but most importantly successfully deciphered the confusing explanation of what we envisioned for our wedding. Denon & Doyle is a Grade-A service but don't feel that a low budget will hinder your ability to use them. My wife and I got married on a winery in Livermore so our budget was limited for entertainment. Chris worked with us to make something happen with an amount we felt comfortable with. Our wedding was in September of 2012. The music selection was great and tasteful and every one of our guests to this day has complimented the selection of music. Our biggest obstacle we overcame was actually getting to sit down and eat our dinner. He timed everything great even though we were pretty toasted by the time we were to make our table rounds. Successfully made ALL of our tables and were able to eat. We've already recommended Denon & Doyle to other friends who are just now becoming engaged. Dennon & Doyle just did the streaming for my daughter's Bat Mitzvah this past weekend and I could not have been happier. Having an event in these crazy times is full of challenges...thankfully, having D&D do the streaming and manage all the sound was a huge relief. Tyrone was the head engineer and he was amazing...competent and super personable. It was great to know that he was on site, but working with the team back at the main office on all tech stuff. I got comments from friends and family at home at the 3 camera angles were a super cool touch and definitely added the overall viewing pleasure. Plus, because the event is recorded, there is no need for a videographer. It was uploaded immediately so we got to watch the service the day after and enjoy it. Eh, I had Denon and Doyle DJ my wedding last year. Brian was a decent DJ but we had a lot of technical issues with the ceremony. Their sound system which I rented for my outdoor ceremony DID NOT WORK and as a result, most of my guests could not hear a thing we were saying. They ended up refunding our $150 for the rental but it was too little too late. I would have rather that our friends and family were able to hear our vows. This ended up being the one big hiccup at my wedding. If you hire them, make sure they test the sound system multiple times BEFORE the ceremony. read more

I rented a photo booth from Denon and Doyle for my wedding, and they rocked! Here is why i like Denon & Doyle 1. PRICING: I looked into multiple photo booth rental companies, and found the pricing more confusing then my cell phone bill--one price for a certain amount of time, another if you divide that time by if your guests take a certain number of picks, more money if you want a CD of your images, then more again for delivery--and on and on. Denon and Doyle is not like that-two prices, one for with a tech, one without. You get a CD and a custom logo! 2. CUSTOM LOGO: loved it! 3. This was a huge hit, my guests not only loved having pics taken, there was a crowd around the booth all night laughing and whooping over the video 5. SERVICE; Even though we didn't spring for the tech, they still sent someone to make sure the machine functioned correctly all night. At the end of the night, he found me to make sure my new husband and i had a pic of us before he packed the machine up, we hadn't so this was very much appreciated. I cant speak to their DJ services, but if your looking for a Photo Booth for your wedding i highly recommend them-- BTW-- I highly recommend a photo booth at your wedding! We hired Denon and Doyle for our wedding and could have not been more pleased! They make everything so easy and are definitely a stress-free vendor. From their open house (which gives you tips/pointers on music and timing for your reception), timely (very quick!) communications, to finalizing details, to making payments online, it was comforting to know that we were in good hands. They provided our sound for the ceremony, which was tricky, as it was in a park with no electrical outlets..agh, what to do. We didn't want to deal with another vendor or the added stress of setting it up ourselves. Fortunately Denon & Doyle were there to help! Ed Cambong, who was also our dj, set up everything without a hitch. They provided a generator, setup and mics for our officiant and readers, phew! Ed was also our DJ for the reception and we had so much fun which we can attribute a large part due to Ed! Ed clearly went out of his way to ensure my new husband and I were comfortable, asking us if we needed drinks and checked in on timing. He followed our timeline to a T and kept the party going. After the reception, my laptop we used for the slideshow was misplaced. Ed was kind enough to offer to stay behind to look for it, fortunately it was found. But definitely shows how nice of a person Ed is! After the wedding we received so many comments from friends and family that the DJ was great, not only with the music selection but pacing the evening, making announcements and just being all around enthusiastic.
