I've Been a Patient Here for Years, and the Care Has Always Been Exceptional…read more I have been coming to this doctor's office for the past few years, and every visit has been a positive experience. The entire staff is consistently warm, welcoming, professional, and genuinely caring, which makes such a difference. The office is always clean and has nice decor. Katrina, NP, is simply the BEST! She is friendly, compassionate, knowledgeable, and incredibly competent. She always takes the time to listen carefully, never makes me feel rushed, and addresses every concern with kindness and respect. I truly appreciate the exceptional care she provides. She provides the same great service on Telehealth appointments. I know some people mention that some providers occasionally run behind schedule, but if they're running late, it's because they're giving the patient before you the same exceptional care they'll give you! The company may only allow appointment slots that are 10-15 minutes, but many patients have complex medical concerns that simply can't be addressed that quickly. I'd much rather wait a little longer than feel rushed through my appointment. As a medically retired registered nurse, I recognize quality healthcare when I see it. Katrina, NP exemplifies the kind of provider every patient hopes to find. I am grateful to have her as part of my healthcare team and highly recommend her and the wonderful staff at this office.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel other patients should be aware of our experience…read more My father is 82 years old, diabetic, and on dialysis three times a week. On June 24, his pharmacy notified us that his medication required a prior authorization from this office. Because the authorization was not completed and the medication was medically necessary, we had to pay out of pocket to ensure he did not go without treatment. Since then, we have called the office numerous times, spoken with multiple staff members, and repeatedly explained the urgency of the situation. Despite multiple follow-ups and escalations, the prior authorization was still not completed in a timely manner. We were even hung up on during some of our calls, making an already stressful situation even more frustrating. At no point did we feel that the seriousness of my father's medical condition was being taken seriously. What is most disappointing is that my father, an elderly patient with significant medical needs, has had to endure the stress and uncertainty of this situation. He is fortunate to have family members who can advocate for him, make repeated phone calls, and navigate the healthcare system on his behalf. I cannot help but think about patients who do not have that support. No elderly or medically vulnerable person should have to fight this hard to receive a medication they have already been prescribed. It is deeply concerning that clinical issues like medication prior authorizations appear to be handled through a call center that is unable or unwilling to appropriately address urgent patient needs. Patients deserve timely communication, compassion, and a process that prioritizes their health--not repeated transfers, unanswered requests, or disconnected calls. The way this office has handled this situation has been unacceptable. I am sharing our experience because I genuinely do not want another patient or family to go through what we have experienced. I sincerely hope this practice improves its prior authorization process, communication, and overall care for medically vulnerable patients.

Great Medical Facility…read more My nephew went in for a visit and I was beyond pleased with our experience at IMS. The entire staff at IMS Primary Care are professional, caring, and go beyond what was expected. My nephew was cared for prior, during, and after his procedure. The admin staff and nursing staff exceeds all standards. Thank you for everything.

I'm saddened to leave this review because I genuinely liked this office in suite 103 I appreciated…read morethat they could do blood work in-house, and I decided to become more proactive about my health by scheduling appointments more regularly. Unfortunately, that's when my experience went downhill. They rarely answer the phone, and that same issue seems to carry over to the specialists they refer patients to. I was referred for a sleep study, but no one ever answered the phone to schedule it. I left multiple voicemails and never received a call back. Later, I noticed an insurance claim for a sleep study diagnostic that I never had. I called the sleep office with no answer, so I contacted my primary care office. They told me they would look into it and get back to me, but I never heard anything. My blood work also showed some abnormalities, so I was referred to an endocrinologist. I was told to wait for them to call me to schedule an appointment. Weeks went by with no call, so I followed up. I was told it was strange and that they would send the office a message and have someone contact me. It's now been over a month, and I still haven't heard from anyone. I'm done with this office. I made the decision to take my health more seriously, and instead of feeling supported, I felt ignored and dismissed. It shouldn't be this difficult to get the care you need.

This was at the location in Avondale. AZ, Westview Family Medicine.

My PA left in September or October and has not been replaced neither. The front office staff also left and were replaced internally with back office staff who may be doing both sides of the office? I should have found a new office at that time. I procrastinated and allow my maintenance meds to get low. So I have been coming into the office weekly for an injection. When checking in for my scheduled exam today. I was informed I had a balance of close to $600. Turns out my weekly injections where not covered by my insurance. Never received a statement, never was I informed of this in each of my weekly visits, nor was I ever called by the office to say hey... This was the last straw and would not recommend coming to this doctors office. Obviously their Accounting is not kept up to be dropped with such a high balance in one shot. My last exam I was not informed of any balance and the injections predates the last exam. They have a niche clientele and would not expect them to lose out on their patients. They showed me today that they only value their core base of patients. This was a great place to come when I was seeing PA Brian Jansen. It saddens me to leave such a low review, but I seem to be one of many others who have not had a good experience here. I hope they backfill the open slots that others within the office have had to cover.

I have been a loyal patient at IMS in Avondale, AZ for 10+ years, so writing this is incredibly…read morepainful because I genuinely respect & appreciate Dr. Sumpter & his Medical Asst. What has forced me to speak out is not Dr. Sumpter himself, but the repeated lack of urgency, communication, & basic follow-through from the office staff &  management. For quite some time now, when in need of reaching out to Dr. Sumpter's office, I'm repeatedly met by the need of having to spend large portions of my day navigating long holds, dropped calls, & voicemails that to date have never been returned simply to obtain routine information such as lab or test results or simply schedule an appointment. On more than one occasion, important medical results were read to me by scheduling staff rather than a medical professional, leaving me confused, distressed, & without the guidance or help I desperately needed. Being told "everything is normal" while I clearly did not feel normal was devastating & left me without care or direction. My most recent experience has been the breaking point. I've recently developed rapidly worsening hearing loss -- a frightening & potentially life-altering condition, especially as a 55-year-old grandmother who wants to continue hearing my grandchildren's voices as they grow. After being seen & told a referral would be sent, days turned into more than a week with no action, no communication, & no urgency. My having to make repeated calls found only continued delays & confusion.  After requesting a return call today from office manager, Elizabeth before the end of the day, no call ever came. The office ultimately closed 1/2 hour earlier than the posted hours while I was still waiting for help. The emotional impact of feeling ignored during a possible medical emergency is profound. Patients trust medical offices with their health, their futures, &  in moments like this, their ability to live fully with the people they love. When urgency & compassion are absent, the damage is not just administrative -- it is deeply personal. It is heartbreaking to consider leaving Dr. Sumpter, a physician I have so fully trusted for almost a decade! Nor did the decision come easily!  But patient safety, timely care, &  basic dignity I feel must come first. I sincerely hope leadership takes a serious look at communication, accountability, & a sense of urgency within this office so that no other patient feels as unseen & helpless as I have. Not just during this frightening medical situation of decreased hearing loss, but as it has been a chronic issue culminating in today's events.
