40 years old and every dental appointment through my mid 30s I was told no cavities and that my…read moreteeth were super clean! Then a few years ago I went in for a cleaning and the doctor berated me for my vegan diet, told me to come back in a couple weeks because for evaluation of a potential root canal something he should've known that day. He guilted me and made me very scared. I decided to do research and had read on healing cavities naturally, and gave it all I had to attempt to remineralize myself. Then in the past week I had an abscess start on one tooth and another tooth chip. My perfect teeth down the drain. I was emotional. I thought for sure I was going to need to have dentures. I'm still single and never married, so my possibility of finding a man who would accept my dentures was going to be out the door. I have had one skeleton in the closet that no one other than me knew about. My teeth look beautifully white when I smile, but inside my mouth they have been more than an embarrassing mess. I was praying and praying the Lord would heal them so that nobody would ever have to see how disgusting they were. So when I arrived and learned that I only needed a root canal and essentially a partial prosthetic tooth my fears of dentures were resolved. But a root canal? Doesn't that mean they pull my tooth from the root and that will cause some major pain? Dr. Johnson explained exactly what it was to me but I knew it was going to require an anesthetic. The last time I had one of those shots I couldn't help but let out a scream. Medicine has changed so much that there are now topical numbing agents that make it so you barely feel the needle. At the end of the day there was no pain. I'm passing through Iowa on my way home from several months of travel. Dr. Johnson made every accommodation possible to get me moving along. He didn't judge my chosen vegan and alternative natural lifestyle and was willing to work with me on other options. I think that's what we all want. Someone who gives us their professional opinion then gives us the freedom to make our own decision. Those decisions may turn into poor choices but at least all of the information was laid out on the table. Thanks to Dr. Johnson there is hope for me! I might not have to die all alone after all!

They charged me $45 for a missed appointment. They said it was for sanitizing the room. $45? I…read morecan see maybe $5. Wouldn't me missing my appointment save them $45 from having to do it for the next patient anyway? The oral hygenist was good, but I got a different dentist each time. The billing was alyways off so it just seemed very unorganized. And the $45 is just annoying. I will not be going back.

Bondurant Family Dentistry - Maybe this tooth is worth .50 cents. No tooth fairy would pay a dollar for it.

Nice facility, but terrible ethics. If you have platinum-tier insurance and don't mind surprise…read morebills, this place is fine. However, if you are self-pay or have specific coverage limits, stay away. I was extremely clear with this office multiple times about my coverage. I told them exactly which X-rays my insurance would pay for and explicitly instructed them not to perform any that weren't covered. They ignored me, performed the unauthorized X-rays anyway, and then sent me a bill for the difference. When I called to contest the charges, their response was: "We don't let insurance dictate our care." That is a convenient excuse to ignore a patient's informed consent regarding their own finances. The office also lacks any personal touch. The staff is so large and the turnover must be so high that you rarely see the same person twice. It's always someone new who has barely read your notes and has no idea what you've previously requested.

Not hearing this anywhere else. And instead of reaching out to us letting us know they no longer accept our insurance and seeing if other arrangements could be made they back handed dropped us by telling our insurance. Also we have been going there for over I believe 10 years you think they could grandfather us in with their new policy or at least reach out to us personally. I was very sad and disappointed on how this was handled. I don't appreciate being lied to. Now I have to rush and try and find a new office for my family.
