We had a great experience. The dentist gave a lot of time to us and answered questions patiently.

Needed a new DDS as previous retired. Burns Dentistry set me up with an appt promptly and Dr Bill Burns was friendly and experienced so I felt comfortable with his care. He took care of a nasty bit of decay under a crown in-house, saving me an expensive trip to an oral surgeon, and also saved the underlying tooth with a new in-house crown, again saving me a chunk of time and money. Dr William Burns (the older of the two) really helped me in a bind. I called this office in a panic as my front veneer popped out and I was in town for work. I had never visited before. After many years of not going to the dentist, I decided to schedule a cleaning and exam. Dr. Burns (William F.) did a great job and it wasn't painful or stressful at all. Dang. What a day... I couldn't sleep because my mouth was hurting so bad I knew it was not good... I am an every 6 months to the dentist so it's not from bad teeth... I call my dentist office @10 this morning... Dr Burns fits me in!!! Yep I have an abscess... 4:15. In the chair pain stops with the help of a big Shot... procedure started to get rid of abscess.... 5:15 out the door . Still have to go back in a week, but this could have ruined Thanksgiving... We found this practice through a friend. A good dentist is hard to find and this practice is solid. Dr. Burns takes so much pride in what he does. The first cleaning I had done was entirely done by the dentist. The practice is caring, gentle, take their time, and are quick to get you in if you have a problem. My teeth haven't been this healthy in years. Their billing practice has been smooth. I used to have a rarer dental insurance and they accepted it. In fact, we have switched dental insurance 3x and they have accepted every plan. The practice is very professional and I am glad we found them! They are located off of Lake Cook by the DMV and are located on the second floor. There is an elevator, but I typically take the outdoor stairs. Tip- their bathroom is around the corner from the office. That way, you can brush before you go in ;) read more

Because of this dentist I actually make dentist appointments every 6(ish) months instead of putting off the dentist for years!!! I hated, beyond hated, going to dentists even if it's just for a teeth cleaning but this place they make you feel so comfortable I actually enjoy going. The staff is so so friendly, they're truly the sweetest family. Marsha cleaned my teeth and was a blast to talk to! They recommended only what I needed so I don't overpay. Kids and I had our first cleaning with them this past week. My kids were huge fans (8 and 5)! I was impressed with the time and care they took with all of us. My whole Cleaning was done by the dentist; which was a first for me, usually the hygienist will do the toothpaste. Also, they call their samples for the kids goody bags! How cute as that!! Love this place!! Happened upon them literally by chance when I first moved to the Chicago area (8 years ago) and found myself with a horrible toothache. Knowing nobody in the area, I simply looked up the closest dentist to my office that took my insurance. They got me in same day and were able to fix the problem immediately. I've continued to see them from then on, for my regular cleanings every six months. Dr. Bill is great and so is his staff! Always friendly and always on time. The building, in general, is slightly antiquated, but I have to be honest, I don't care a bit when the experience is this great! Highly recommend! read more

Staff was very professional. Everything was on time, i didn't have to wait. They were ready when my appointment was at. Dr Burns was very professional and answered all my questions. He did an amazing job and i am very happy with the results. I am going back tomorrow and i will keep going there in the future. Dr Burns is honest and will tell you the truth about what you need to get done and what you can do, money is not the primary focus in this office and they do care about your well being and about helping you resolve your needs. I am always nervous before a dentist appointment but walk out asking myself why--After years of going to Dr, Burns (BILL) I should already know nothing is going to hurt My husband has been very ill the last few months but a front tooth crown fell out. The office fit us in that day in the morning and Dr. Bill worked on him in the wheel chair which says a lot about the office. Dr. Burns is kind, professional and always there to help. I want to add one more side note. I had to see a dentist last summer on an emergency call and Dr. Bill was out of town. I went to see his nephew whom is now part of their office. He was exactly what you would expect, professional, kind, passionate and offered the same no pain work. This office is a must for anyone looking for wonderful dentists. read more

I thought for a while on whether I should leave this review - especially since the office said in the voicemail that they would zero out the balance, but I decided I should because I need to warn others about what happened. I received a letter from Burns Dentistry and other local dentists when I moved to the area back in September 2016 to come try their practice and/or make their practice my dentist. I chose Burns based on the 6 reviews here on Yelp... I went here in December - I was a new patient, and I had my x-rays and records faxed from my last dentist's office, and I was there for a regular bi-annual cleaning/check-up. I gave my insurance card to the receptionist, I had a good visit, and I felt that services were great. In January 2017, I received a bill that said I owed $175 (as opposed to what I'm used to seeing $0). I called my insurance and they told me a claim was never filed by the Burns office. I then called the Burns office, they said they forgot and they would submit it. In February (this month) I received another bill this time, insurance did cover the full amount, but I was still being charged $93. I looked closer and it was labeled as the cost for "Comprehensive oral eval-new/estab pat". I called Burns office and the female receptionist had no clue what I was talking about - I told her that I have never seen any dentist office charge for being a new patient - that is part of the 2 annual cleanings per year that I do for maintenance. She could not explain it and instead scoffed at me and said that's what insurance did not cover. (Of course they don't cover that - that's not a billable procedure). I explained to her that I've also worked in medical offices for a very long time and this is not standard practice. She then without explanation, gave the phone to her colleague Oliver. With Oliver it was a similar story, he said that this was standard practice for the area (no it is not, I have dentists in my family, I have two dentist friends in Buffalo Grove, but I chose to go to Burns because of the proximity to my house). I also told him that it was wrong to charge someone this fee, and not let them know ahead of time this was being charged (there were several opportunities for them to let me know there was a new patient fee before I came into the office: in the letter they sent out, while I was making the appointment and asking them what they needed from me, and/or when I was filling out the paperwork before the appointment in the waiting room). He offered that I take it up with the dentist, then said the dentist wasn't in, and I would get a call back tomorrow from the dentist. I received a call back today, from a "no caller id" and the message left was really rude, from Oliver, "that they would take me up on my offer and they don't want me back and that they would zero out the balance." No explanation on my one and only question. I will not go here again, and I caution other folks thinking of trying this place out because they will charge you a new patient fee (which is not standard)- I did quite a bit of literature research and everything I saw agreed that if its an eval for a major procedure sure you should pay if you don't wind up going to that dentist for the procedure, but if you do that cost should be deducted, there was nothing about charging patients a random fee for simply being a new patient and not telling them ahead of time that there is a fee. read more

After scouring the Deerfield area, it was noted that Burns Family Dentistry is very highly rated. Both my wife and I made Dr. William DDS at Burns our family dentist.
