My family moved here recently and decided to go to this Dental Clinic, I have never felt so unwelcome at a business. The atmosphere is very dry and the workers don't seem to be cheery of their job in any way. Most places you walk into you're greeted almost instantly. Don't expect that from here. No one has said a word in any of my visits. ALSO expect waiting for 30 minutes up to two hours. The first time we came we had to do paperwork so I get it, it took maybe 10 minutes for me and my family to fill it out but for them to make sure that the information was all present and given took quite literally over an hour and a half including jus waiting to be called. We ended up having to reschedule bc I had work later that day and even after a little more than two hours of waiting we weren't called in. They need to better space out their time slots if there's a shortage of dentists bc the wait is insane. AND if paperwork needs to be done don't make the appt time for 9:30 and take patients at 11:00 give a heads up in an e-mail call or text ANYTHING, or ask us to come early SPECIFICALLY for paperwork so we finish it before our SCHEDULED appt time. Very Very disappointed and displeased with the wait time for a dentist cleaning like this. I will say however the ACTUAL dentist and his assistant were kind and apologized for the wait time, but they need to work on staff attitude at the front desk, and either hire more dentists or span out times of appts better.

Dental Nightmare would be an appropriate name. Be forewarned, DO NOT COME HERE! Mainly because the place is dirty. First step to Health is to maintain a sanitary environment. After my x-rays, I did not want any other services from this location. However, they submitted a request for further work with my insurance. When I asked them to release the request, they did everything but. It prevented me from getting the services I needed elsewhere. I contacted my insurance provider several times, and they had to intercede and call their office. My premonitions were right, they were never going to honor my request. Furthermore, they were rude and did not know how to operate the platform. Ignorance is not an excuse to keep a client's health at bay. Picking up the phone and calling the insurance company, Like I did, would have been an easy first step on their part. The front house reception: I spoke to Kinnea, Shelby, and a third girl who were all incompetent. A bad Yelper, I should have read all the horrible reviews but I thought a routine visit wouldn't matter. Wrong! The dentist and assistant were okay, but not enough to win over my confidence.

I cannot recommend Ann Arbor Smiles enough…read more I hadn't seen a dentist in ... and embarrassing amount of time ... and a dental emergency is what finally got me in. I went here on recommendation of a friend. Dr. Kennedy (Sr.) was so kind. They NEVER said anything bad about my absence from the dentist (my childhood dentist was all about the scolding). In fact, I think it's a policy or something, because every staff member I've ever seen has practiced only positive reinforcement. I couldn't believe what a difference this made in my comfort level. As others have said, AA Smiles is not cheap. When I had really bad dental insurance, I usually had to pay the difference between what they said a cleaning would cost and what it costs at AA Smiles. THAT SAID, I've never had them upsell me. In fact, they make a point to go over estimates ahead of time, have you sign off on them, triage the care you need, and even contact your insurance ahead of time to help you figure out the actual out of pocket cost of a procedure. Beyond that, you can tell that they invest in equipment and staff, not in fancy fountains and TVs for the waiting room. Also, I'll pay for a quality office if it means avoiding weird strip mall dentist offices. In the aforementioned dental emergency, I needed a whole tooth replaced with a crown. Rather than the usual 'take a cast, fit the crown, get a temporary crown, wait a couple weeks .. ' that takes several appointments, they scanned my mouth and a 3D image appeared on the screen. Then they matched my tooth color exactly and machined the crown in the other room. The whole appointment was less than an hour and a half. On top of that, Dr. Kennedy did a beautiful job shaping to tooth to look natural in my mouth. He also took GENUINE JOY in helping me. I've since gone back for countless procedures and cleanings (with Chris? Kris?) .. I now see Dr. Emily Kennedy and she's fucking phenomenal. I recommend her to anyone I know with dental anxiety.

Dr. Lee won him over with his caring, professional demeanor. Dr. Lee has quite remarkable techniques for pain management. He has improved the health and cosmetic appearance of our teeth. He has done bonding and whitening as well as fillings, crowns, and other procedures as needed. The office is beautifully appointed and never has a dental office smell. Dr. Lee happens to be a fantastic professional artist. Pictures he has painted adorn the space over the fireplace in the waiting room and most of the exam rooms. This feels like being in a beautiful home rather than an office. Sheila is a fabulous front office receptionist. We cannot say enough about her kindness and concern for the care of the patients. The dental hygenists and assistants are also very competent and caring. Do yourself a favor and entrust your dental care to the Lee Center for Cosmetic and Family Dentistry. While I have always found the front desk staff and dental hygienists incredibly friendly, the office business practices and my overall experience surrounding a dental crown left me unsatisfied with my care and a new anxiety around visiting the dentist. 1. Many people have mentioned their up front billing methods and constant attempts to upsell patients. While I cannot confirm that I was specifically overbilled for any procedure, I did feel like I constantly was having services pushed on me for extra fees. I also noticed at a certain point they stopped asking me about a flouride treatment that was an additional fee and just started completing the treatment and asking for payment. While this wasn't a massive strain on my finances at the time, it could really cause issues for patients who are on strict budgets from month to month. 2. I had a crown put on in March of 2021, in October of 2023 the crown fell out while on vacation out of state. I was able to book quickly to have the crown put back in but was frustrated with the brushing off my concerns around how quickly it seemed to have issues. When I returned for my normal cleaning a few months later I expressed my anxiety and fear of the crown falling out again and my concern about flossing around the crown pulling it out. I felt the doctor dismissed my concerns without any real empathy and I left the office without feeling at ease about this. 3. When I was without dental insurance for a time and was not able to afford a visit due to strained finances they did offer me their insurance plan which was more than the cost of the cleaning. I'm not sure why they thought I could afford that but not the cleaning. They continued to refer to this and all of their services as an "investment" which for me personally felt gross (though this could be a petty complaint on my end). I have since been able to return to my longtime dentist and am much happier. I do NOT recommend this office, but I do sincerely hope their services and practices improve for the sake of their patients and staff.

Despite me being a new patient, they managed to get me in the very next day! I was seen by Dr. Heys and Silvana (dental assistant). I was told I had to get the tooth extracted since it had already started decaying/getting infected. The last time I had a tooth removed was in elementary school, which left me traumatized and hating going to the dentist. Initially, my answer was a solid no. I wanted ample sedation, and even then, I was ambivalent. With my board exam coming up, I also didn't want to lose even a few hours of studying, leaving me with 2 options: local anesthetics or nitrous (laughing gas). Although it turned out they don't carry nitrous, Dr. Heys personally called another dentist for me that she knew was good, had nitrous, and took my insurance - they would be able to get me in next week. Meanwhile, Silvana continued to reassure me that Dr. Heys is very gentle and that this would be a quick and simple procedure. She spent what must've been at least 30min-1h comforting me and answering my incessant questions (this was well beyond my appointment time). To my own surprise, I eventually consented. They gave me Bose noise-cancelling headphones playing music of my choice to calm me down, dark-tinted glasses to block out the overhead light, and continuously encouraged/reassured me throughout the entire process. At the time, I was still an anxious mess (completely a me-problem), so I'm very sorry they had to put up with that - but in retrospect, it was just as they said - no pain, just pressure. If I eliminated all internal anxieties, that was one of the most pain-free, benign dentist appointments I've ever had. I was told that I'd be sore the next day and that I should stick to mushy foods for the time being (my friends even warned me it'd be miserable). Turns out, the worst part, ironically, was when my mouth was still numb and felt like a chipmunk cheek. I prophylactically took some ibuprofen as the numbness wore off and by that night, I was pretty much pain-free and eating solid foods (bad patient, I know...). To top it all off, I got a card in the mail from Dr. Heys a few days later with a personalized hand-written note welcoming me to the practice. Everwell definitely went above and beyond my expectations. And who knows - this might be the one place to breakdown my wall of dental anxiety. tl;dr: - Empathetic, friendly, and caring staff that go above and beyond - Great at dealing with super anxious patients - High-quality work with great pain-control

After they completed the service the presented me my child in hysterics. The hygienist informed me that he cried through most of the procedure, had to be restrained, and was crying "no no" repeatedly. She said they "couldn't stop" so they put a device in his mouth to prop it open and continued through his cries. At no point was I ever alerted to what was happening with my child. I drove home listening my 3 year old sob and whimper "dentist is NOT nice!" Hours later he still was extremely shook up about it, so I called and spoke to Dr. Clark. He claimed my child was never restrained and didn't seam all that upset to him, a completely different story than I was originally told. When I told him how upset my kid was, he replied that "most kids get over it." I asked him IF we were ever to return if he would allow me to witness how my child was being treated in the examination room, and he continued on with his mantra of "in my experience, kids do better without their parents present" and "it's our office policy." The procedure should have stopped when my child became upset and I should have been brought in immediately. So now I have a young child who had a terrible first dental experience and is terrified to go back to the dentist and I have no clue what really happened. I will never bring my child somewhere where the parent is not allowed to view the procedure again. I should have listened to my gut when the policy felt like a giant red flag. I just hope the experience doesn't color his future dentist visits when we go to our next dentist.
