We went this past Saturday, excited, a local, small city camera shop - they're rare, mostly big box stores. But, we waited for 10 mins after opening, supposed to be noon. Not sure if someone called out or not but I made the trip especially to go there from a nearby city - 45 min drive. But we made lemonades, there was an outdoor thingy nearby. So no real review of their merch or service but big strike for me, it's a business, hours of operation are just that :-). read more

Cool dude, talked to me about cameras and helped me get started on my starter camera!

I came in last week and sold my oooold camera kit (canon t3i) to upgrade. I do dog videography for sports and needed something that could keep up a little more in different lighting as well as be more functional from a slo-mo standpoint. The shop keeper talked me out of the upgrade I was going for and suggested instead a Canon 90D. I am SO glad I listened to him! It was the perfect upgrade without sacrificing any quality. I make it out here once every couple of months to get film and and have bought a few camera's from here (a point and shoot and SLR). Armand is very knowledgeable and the shop has a great selection of analog cameras, lenses, filters etc. This is by far my favorite camera shop in the DFW. read more

It's so small that you may miss it, but the giant letters saying "Denton Camera Exchange" on the back wall guide you to the front door. It's small, dark, got a cool Indian rug, and embodies that old vintage vibe that camera geeks and photo hipsters love. Every wall is literally covered with tons of usable or decorative aged film cameras. They have your Holgas, a few Yashicas, the SX-70s, and an always dependable Polaroid One Step to purchase. The guys up at the counter are really cool and extremely knowledgeable. They can also repair cameras too. The biggest thing that I love is that they sell tons of instant film along with negative film to purchase. They even sell Impossible Project film - which can get pricey with shipping. It's great for browsing and the best place to pick a gift for your photographer friend. read more

I needed to get my film camera fixed, because the film rewind broke. It took out all the pieces. Not only was Armand able fix the film rewind, but he did so while saving the film inside my camera. He's a wizard. He didn't charge me for it either. Cool guy. Knows his stuff. read more

In a word: BEST!! Holy cow, these guys have EVERYTHING for the film photographer! A very large selection of (very reasonably priced!) film cameras. A ton of hard to find vintage Brownies and Polaroids to boot. A wide selection of film SLRs and lens to go with too. Film, tripods, bags, disposable cameras, paper, you name it, it's here. I highly recommend me coming here even just to marvel at all the cameras. I could easily be lost in here for days and I can't wait to go back! read more

Wanting to support a local camera shop, I dropped off my one roll of film to be developed. I was told it would take two weeks, which is a pretty long time for development, but I didn't mind. I stopped by the shop two separate times to check on the progress of development. Both times I was promised "It should be done by next week." On one of these visits I brought along a friend who purchased a film camera, which ended up ruining the rolls of film he put through it. Almost two months go by and I finally go to the shop to find out they haven't even began to develop my film. I ended up asking for my undeveloped film back. After the horrible customer service and rude comments from the owner of the shop, I wouldn't give this shop a cent of my money again. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT go to this shop; please make the drive out to one of the handful of reputable camera shops in the DFW. read more

They are an absolutely great place for camera advice. They develop film, buy, sell, and appraise cameras, repair all of it! As for the film development comment below. They only develop black and white film as of now and they only do it in bundles. So my suggestion is bring 4-6 rolls of film and they can get it done faster. It's also cheaper this way for them as a business! So yes if you bring One roll in you just might wait 2 months for your film. The owner has been nothing but a pleasure to work with and he always has great advice on cameras, seeing as I myself collect vintage cameras and use them. I'm a wanna be photographer with a lot to learn! Nonetheless I absolutely love my camera and was pretty upset when it started acting up after loaning it to someone. I brought it in and Danielle spent about 5 minutes looking at it figured out what was going on! So happy to have my camera back in working order and to have a place to bring it to for periodic cleanings and such. I look forward to giving them my business in the future! read more

I was hoping for the best on my first visit but unfortunately terrible service over the phone and a little better in person but need improvement. From the tone of voice the gentleman had over the phone you would expect he would have had his info on his he gear correct.... at least if it worked witch over he phone he said it did. Once trying to figure out flash information on others since the original clearly could no longer be made he had no valuable information to give. Very sad I drove 2 hours with 3 camera stores in my area for only false hope. Cheers for the service guys read more
