Had my 3rd session at Big Boar with Tate today. Every time I go I learn critical defense skills…read morethat address any shortcomings I have. Tate gives advice and 'homework' that I can take back to practice at the indoor range and dry firing at home. Thanks to Big Boar I am now 100% confident in shooting with iron sights and in reactive and tactical shooting. It's a bit of a drive to get to to Big Boar but 1000% worth it. I've been shooting for 40+ years and in the last 3 months I have improved exponentially. The joy of shooting has come back to me. Before Big Boar, going to the range was kind of like a dreaded exercise session. Since taking my first session at Big Boar, shooting is fun again as well as a challenge and a self improvement, self esteem reward. I can't recommend Big Boar and Tate enough. Photos show targets from reactive shooting at 10yrds with no optics, 2 shots fired in 0.83 to 1.04 seconds. 3 months ago, I wouldn't even have had a clue or chance of doing this.

Asked the attendant hey can I borrow one from them. The response was "sorry we sell them so you'll need to buy one." Any time this has happened at other ranges they've always just tossed me one. So I told the guy ok no problem. Knowing I'll hop on yelp and 1 star you. Then Google and 1 star you and I'll just go back to rifle gear. If I would have known this was their response I woulda walked out before I paid for a lane. Getting repeat business is about the small things. Which doesn't include being small minded.

One of the range hands looked to be 20 at best. Young enough to be our kid. Anyway, he kept asking about my gun case because I had a .40 sitting in it and not at the shooting area. I had explained to him I wanted to shoot it, but they didn't have .40 ammo. He didn't like that my case was open with the gun inside. He asked my friend to close my case which my friend did. I finished going through my two mags, went back to our area and noticed my case closed. My buddy said, "The kid was nervous it was opened and asked me to close it". No big deal, all good. Except, we were asked to leave by another range employee because he didn't like us referring to the other guy was "the kid". There was no harm intended. We weren't being derogatory, it was simply a description, the young man could have been our kid so my friend referred to him as ". The kid ". We were kicked out because of that. It won't hurt them, it won't hurt my friend, and it won't hurt me....but he nor I will return. I get safety issues. I get hate speech, but this was ridiculous

A big shout out of thanks to John, one of the range officers. He was very patient with us and our friends and helped answer questions we all had. I love being able to talk and joke about a range of things ( pun intended ). The range is clean and ran with safety as a priority. The only issue I have is my fat ass feels like I'm about to break their chairs. That's more a "me" issue though. I think I will only shoot here as I feel like family when I am there. Even if by family, I mean that cousin you tolerate. :). Seriously though, this place is an awesome place to send rounds down range. Highly recommend!!!!

One of the owners is an Team USA Olympian and they support a lot of local High School's shooting programs. The grounds are professional and the clubhouse is well stocked with gear. They feature Beretta shotguns and apparel. When taking a tour of the facility I was lucky enough to talk to one of the owners and he let me sample on of their premium over/unders and I was loving every second of it! Long story short, if you are into the shooting sports and in the area, look them up!

Used to go to shoot smart to the private lanes but not a big fan of the indoor ranges. They had plenty of open areas for a 25, 50 and higher distance. As well as a handgun section on the opposite side. We didnt have to wait on either side for access to a spot. They were very good amount the gun safety and making sure everyone was responsible with not only the time to change targets but also with making sure people properly were facing their rifles when down not in the wrong directions. This was my worry at a public outdoor range, but they were on top of it and highly appreciate it. Only downside is no FMJ rifle ammo allowed. So you either have to pay a lot for a box through them or stock up prior to. There was a small group of young people trying to one hand shoot to "be cool" which was kind of irritating, more because of the stupidity factor. But most people at least on the rifle side you could tell are gun enthusiasts who care about their shot and their weapon. Definitely my new go-to range.
