Subdays are arguably one of the best days to go as they typically have beer bust for stupid cheap. Unlimited beer or seltzer as do many other gay bars in the area. Joey refuses to acknowledge that he does not own a nightclub that would be better equipped to handle such an event, but rather a neighborhood tavern.

We eventually transitioned to the Rose room so we could chat amongst ourselves. The space is large, with booths and tables spread out around the room. We initially made ourselves comfortable near the stage, but then quickly moved to a booth as it was larger and could accommodate the rest of our friends who planned to join us. I sat on the outer most side of the booth, with a good view of the rest of the room, and made awkward eye contact with a man, who then continued to stare me down. He then approached our table, became increasingly combative and aggressive, claiming the table was his and honestly, just seemed to be looking to fight. I write this review not to dog on the crowd, but rather remark on how safe the staff and other patrons made us feel during this encounter. We held our own, eventually insisting this distraught individual leave us alone, all the while the barista at the coffee bar watched vigilantly, using hand signals to ensure we felt safe. Another table began recording the encounter, which I think further deterred the man from his verbal assault on our group. I've experienced similar at other bars and have been left feeling more scared, but because of the way the community at the Pearl stood beside us, felt regulated after the encounter, and continued to enjoy my night. My only note is that they should lower the cost of wine by the glass, or get bigger glasses! I can purchase the same brands by the bottle at the grocery store for the cost of a glass here. That said, I was surprised to actually find parking not too far away. I did pass a few questionable characters on my walk over, and I hoped my car would still be there when I got back. Once inside, I met up with my friend. Like others have mentioned, the music in the main bar area was extremely loud--too loud to hold a conversation. It was crowded, and people kept bumping into each other, but to be fair, everyone was respectful about it. No one seemed to be doing it with bad intentions. The line at the bar was chaotic, but once I finally got up there, the bartenders were super friendly and attentive. We eventually made our way to the adjoining room, and it was a completely different vibe--much quieter and more relaxed. We could actually talk. I decided to order food. One server--tall, with black hair and torn fishnets--told me I had to order at the bar. But another server, much more accommodating, let me order from her directly and took great care of us. I ordered the patty melt, and it was surprisingly good--definitely better than what the Mercury Café used to offer (which was strictly vegetarian). Ultimately, though, I don't think I'll be returning. The noise level in the main bar was just too much, and the overall environment felt uncomfortable to me. Yes, it's a bar, but the acoustics in that building are rough for the kind of crowd they attract. I did notice they host various classes upstairs, which could be a cool draw for some people--just not quite enough to get me back.

By 7pm it was a big crowd and fun energy was happening. On our way out we had to have some taqueria style tacos from Tacos Martin then went back in to chow down and watch this week's episode of RPDR replayed at 7:30. I'm not a gay bar aficionado but I know what I'm comfortable with and what feels fun and this is it. Kitty corner across the street is the brother bar Trade. Haven't been there but it's a local fave too.

It still is absolutely a dive bar with all the dive bar things like cheap drinks, pool table, semi functioning bathroom. Drinks were super cheap during happy hour ($1 off each drink). A high life can was $2. You can't beat that! The change machine and pool table are a little beat up but that's to be expected. Bathroom was in a similar state. The highlight during my recent visit was definitely the bartender. I forgot to catch his name but he was killing it behind the bar and troubleshooting the change machine all by himself. If you're looking for a true dive bar, William's Tavern is a great choice. Tip: Don't pay to park at the meters on 17th. The streets going perpendicular are free for 2 hours!

The director said the cat she was interested in wasn't up for adoption yet and she would have to wait. After many days of my mom calling and talking to the lady she basically said that the cat was already hers she just had to wait for him to be available. Today my mom called the shelter again and the director said THAT THEY GAVE THE CAT AWAY!!!! my mom was so devastated. We just lost our family dog and she was so excited and looking forward to getting a new cat. The director said it was because they had heard my mom say she was going to make it an outdoor cat, WHICH IS COMPLETELY FALSE. first, my mom would never do that. She specifically wants a cuddly indoor kitty as a companion, second the shelter specifically said she cant have an outdoor cat and my mom agreed with that part of the contract. It makes absolutely no sense. I could tell from the very beginning something was off about this rescue and I was right. I'm not sure what they're doing over there but whatever it is it's not good. We will probably be getting in contact with a lawyer. DO NOT ADOPT FROM HERE!!!

This was about 2 days before Christmas. I was contacted by one of their adoption coordinators not long after and by New Year's Day I was having a meet-and-greet with my potential kitty. Meet and greet went awesome and I signed the adoption papers that day. In less than a week I'd found my new buddy! The adoption cost ($75) covered neuter, vaccines, microchip and more. I felt great knowing I was rescuing a safe and healthy animal. His foster mom was fantastic as were all the Pawsco people I interacted with. Everyone was very helpful and responsive - it was an easy process and I would recommend them to anyone looking to adopt a pet.
