WE ARE SO FURIOUS!! AN ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SHELTER. DO NOT RESCUE FROM HERE. My mom had applied to adopt a cat from this place over two weeks ago. The director said the cat she was interested in wasn't up for adoption yet and she would have to wait. After many days of my mom calling and talking to the lady she basically said that the cat was already hers she just had to wait for him to be available. Today my mom called the shelter again and the director said THAT THEY GAVE THE CAT AWAY!!!! my mom was so devastated. We just lost our family dog and she was so excited and looking forward to getting a new cat. The director said it was because they had heard my mom say she was going to make it an outdoor cat, WHICH IS COMPLETELY FALSE. first, my mom would never do that. She specifically wants a cuddly indoor kitty as a companion, second the shelter specifically said she cant have an outdoor cat and my mom agreed with that part of the contract. It makes absolutely no sense. I could tell from the very beginning something was off about this rescue and I was right. I'm not sure what they're doing over there but whatever it is it's not good. We will probably be getting in contact with a lawyer. DO NOT ADOPT FROM HERE!!! read more

The team at Pawsco is incredibly friendly and efficient - I really enjoyed working with them. The time was right to add a furry addition to my house, so I submitted an online application for a kitten that was recently listed as available for adoption. This was about 2 days before Christmas. I was contacted by one of their adoption coordinators not long after and by New Year's Day I was having a meet-and-greet with my potential kitty. Meet and greet went awesome and I signed the adoption papers that day. In less than a week I'd found my new buddy! The adoption cost ($75) covered neuter, vaccines, microchip and more. I felt great knowing I was rescuing a safe and healthy animal. His foster mom was fantastic as were all the Pawsco people I interacted with. Everyone was very helpful and responsive - it was an easy process and I would recommend them to anyone looking to adopt a pet. read more

We got our dog from PawsCo in September, three months we're still impressed by the job they did. He, at 4 years old, is incredibly well-behaved and loving, it shows that they worked hard to train him. He can be left alone in the house without destroying things, he doesn't chew on things he's not supposed to, and he is appropriately protective of my wife. He's pretty friendly with guests and plays well with other dogs. The gals we met were nice and knowledgeable. It really shows that they put effort into their work. The price for adoption was $125, and if I had known how much happiness that would buy me, I'd have doubled down. If in the future we decide to add another dog, I will look at them first. I'd recommend PawsCo if you're in the market. read more

Please don't offer to foster for these people. And if you do adopt from them, please ask the FOSTERS DIRECTLY for information about the pups. The adoption coordinator is more worried about her professional appearance (which she is far from professional) and she doesn't want to give all of the information to potential adopters. She would rather tell them everything is perfect and the fit is perfect without sharing ALL of the information provided by the fosters. They do not appreciate their fosters and how much love and dedication they provide to these pups in need. Very discouraging and I see why their last positive review was over two years ago. read more

I happened upon this wonderful organization by chatting with a faster dad of a pup at the dog park... I ended up adopting the little one he was fostering!!! The Adoption Coordinator took the time to check out my references and really took the time to give me as much information as they had on my little girl. They are a small, non-profit group that truly cares about the pups they are entrusted with and try to do everything they can to match them with the best forever home possible. In all transparency, I have volunteered with this group for brand and marketing work which supports the 5/5 star rating behind this review (seeing it all from behind the scenes)! We also fostered a dog through this rescue, and as a foster last year (in their first year of business) we felt well taken care of. The system is educational and helps to support those volunteering, fostering, and adopting to be sure of the life long commitment involved in rescuing an animal. I'm amazed to see how fast this organization has grown, and how well branded the name and logo have become in a such a short year. The operation itself is so efficient, without a brick and mortar location, all rescues/transfers/fostering/adoption takes place throughout the city of Denver and expands into all areas of CO. I read one other review (not posted on first page) that described a very similar situation to mine. The dossier on Jax read like he was the most easy-going dog in the world. I never really found this to be true. I have had truly mellow and relaxed rescues before, and my home is no hot bed of activity. I suffered a very severe bite on my calf from him in the wake of my other dog crying out when I accidentally stepped on her foot. Other incidents had occurred previously where I noticed him display some aggression, but nothing like this. Then recently he bit a friend in my home because she startled him (he had met her in my home on several occasions and was very friendly with her). He also tried to bite my vet, and this remains in his records at Belcaro. I wound up taking him to Denver Animal Shelter because I was concerned PawsCo would turn around and adopt him out again without taking me seriously. It was a dreadful experience and I cried the entire time I was in there. But they saw my awful bite as it looks now, and in a photo I showed them. The thing that gets me the most is that I emailed PawsCo's president and told her what had happened, and said that I found it hard to believe no one had seen any aggressive behavior prior to my adoption. What speaks volumes to me (and it's too late to change my mind at this point), is that my correspondence was 6 days ago and I never heard a word from them after that...wasn't expecting an apology or admission of guilt, just SOMETHING. I say buyer beware of PawsCo. Though I'm sure they're well-intentioned, this is not a company I would ever use again as I do not feel my dog was properly assessed prior to posting for adoption; either that or information was withheld. read more

Paws and Co. Adoptions really cares that the dogs they adopt out go to the right home for the dog. It's kind of like match making. They truly have the best interest of the dog and the family at heart! They are unique in that it's an all foster based rescue which helps for the foster parents to really be able to know what a good home for that animal is going to look like. We got our latest pup (and first girl for me) from pawsco. We let our yorkie choose so we met a female pup at a foster home. Unfortunately, our yorkie did not care for her. We were matched up with another Foster & our yorkie fell in love. The staff from pawsco were understanding and patient. A great adopting experience. We love our little girl. read more

Working in animal welfare in Southern Colorado, I had the pleasure of working with PawCo from an outside shelter stand point. They are well respected within the animal sector because of their attention to detail and a wide array of support they provide shelters as well as their fosters and adopters. They are ALL volunteer which means along with their full time jobs, they dedicate the time to these animals, fosters, and adopters. Some of their volunteers are certified volunteer, positive reinforcement animal trainers allowing ample resources for training while the animal is in foster care and even to adopters. Their foster homes are CHECKED which although is law, I have found many organizations do not do this. Why would you place an animal in a home with people you nothing about? That terrifies me! I definitely appreciate the process PawsCo has for their fosters. After moving to Northern Colorado, I wanted to continue to foster animals. I was faced with the decision of which of the hundreds of animal rescues I wanted to be associated with which can be a grueling process of elimination. Even though I am about an hour and half away from PawsCo's headquarters, I felt that the support both for the animals but for the fosters, outweighed the drive for adoptions, appointments and supplies. I have been fostering for PawsCo for about 6 months and couldnt be more thrilled with the kind hearted and like minded individuals I have met as a result. read more

Way too many animals end up euthanized even in our animal-friendly state of Colorado. I heard over 30,000 pets were euthanized in 2012. The vast majority of these animals are friendly, loving pets who just need a home to call their very own! Paws & Co. is a newer rescue in Colorado and is 100% volunteer-run. The volunteers truly have the best interest of homeless and needy animals as their #1 priority. They rescue from shelters and "pull" the animals before they're euthanized. We adopted a dog from Paws & Co. back in November. At first it was one of the best organizations but after a couple of months that changed quickly. We ended up having aggression issues with our dog that we adopted. After doing all that we could to make our home the best home for her, we decided to give her back. After notifying the adoption agency, we went through a heart wrenching process. The agency was very rude and did not respect our decision that we were doing the best thing for all parties. Once our dog was back in Paws & Co's hands, they put her back up for adoption, but this time the agency sugar coated her problems and did not notify adopters of the true character of the dog. By not mentioning the true issues that the dog has, Paws & Co is falsely describing the dog and putting people in a situation where they could be harmed and where they are being lied to. If they can not be up-front about our dog that had human aggression problems, I wonder what else they are not being truthful about. read more
