Got there early being a new patient. Greet with friendliness, took my papers, gave me another form to fill out, joked. about not cheating off neighbor. Met with Elizabeth and she took good care of testing and explaining everything. After going over options for hearing aid for right ear and getting Cochlear upgrade then she took me to have Dr. Muckle. He was also friendly and got to know my history of ear problems. First visit and I would recommend them to anyone. My previous ear doctor never made me feel welcome. read more

Do Not Go Here!! Worst experience ever. I unfortunately was recommend to have my mother go here for an ear problem. She called spoke to a representative that asked her which insurance she had plus the standard questions and my mother told them. They then proceeded to send her the email to fill out and booked the appointment. My mom filled it out and waited the 3 weeks for the appointment. They drove across town ( from Buckley AFB) all the way to Englewood for the appt. The rude representative when they arrived Simply told them to sit down without even taking their name. They waited for a few and went back up to try to check in. They then spoke and told my mom finally that her insurance was not accepted and to pay cash of a few hundred dollars!!! My mom was shocked but polite and declined and left. They then told me the story so I angrily called to find out why in the heck did they not tell them their insurance was not accepted weeks ago either on the phone or email?! The representative was so rude and said that it's all my mothers fault and should have called her insurance in the beginning. No apologies or anything. Just disgusting human beings and customer service especially to elder adults just loooking for help. Be upfront and tell people to pay cash BEFORE THEY DRIVE ACROSS TOWN AND WASTE THEIR WHOLE DAY!! read more

Dr Muckle 4 maybe 5 stars Admin staff / office management = 1 star. avg. 2 to 2.5 stars I am not sure who is at fault but waiting 1 hr and 10 mins to be seen by the doctor is way too long. 15 to 20 mins seems to be the norm. I asked the staff checking me out if waiting an hour is normal?" Her response: We CANNOT HELP it Dr. muckle takes his time with patients. Therefore it most happen more times than not. I suggested that it would be nice to know this when checking in. Her response: Sorry there is nothing we can do. REALLY! How about spreading out schedule? Or if the doc is behind schedule by more than 30 mins then call the patient ahead of time. 75% of the US has a cell phone. This place seems to put the doctor(s) and revenue ahead of their customers. The Dr. I saw was awesome, smart, engaged, and really seemed interested in helping me. But the audiologist took nearly 4 weeks to get the correct fitting so that the speaker would fit and stay in my canal. I was left with very little time to evaluate the product. Over all of my visits I got the impression that she either didn't seem interested in helping me, or was simply incompetent. read more

I am suffering from tinnitus, and my PCP sent me to this practice for help. Unlike others, I did not have a long wait or a negative experience with the admin team. The front desk staff was fine and my wait was just a few minutes. I was taken back for a hearing test, and the audiologist was kind and caring, as was the doctor's assistant who settled me in to wait for Dr. Feehs. Unfortunately, my experience took a negative turn from there. Dr. Feehs showed me no personal care--no empathy whatsoever--regarding my condition. He asked not a single question about my tinnitus. He showed zero curiosity about how I was managing an upsetting new condition. He offered me no hope that I might get better. He shared no information about how others have managed hearing a constant, annoying tone for the rest of their lives, except to say most people just learn to ignore it. He told me if it got really bad, I could come back for "devices." He gave me no information about what "devices," were available, nor did he ask me if it was really bad already. He seemed really bored by me and my problem. I am aware that there are simple things that do help people with tinnitus (CBT, playing soundscapes designed to help with tinnitus, etc.), but I never would have learned about these options from this practice. When I mentioned that the onset coincided with receiving the COVID vaccine, he told me it was unrelated. He has obviously not seen any of the research regarding this noted side effect. Then he told me, "it doesn't matter," how I got it--I've got it now and it's never going away. Wow. I know tinnitus is not new to him, but it IS new to me, and I could have used someone who asked how I was doing and cared that I was suffering. I'm not sure where his skills (if any) lie, but they must show up when his patients are unconscious. If you want a caring doctor who treats you as an individual, I recommend you look elsewhere. read more

Sadly, doctor's offices are not known for being paragons of friendliness or efficiency, but I can confirm admin staff is bad. I've received more empathy and better service at Arby's. And staff's contempt for their patients is off the charts. This should be unacceptable for any business but it's outrageous for a medical practice. If you enjoy waiting for well over and hour past you appointment time then this is the place for you. They tell you to get there 20 mins before your appointment so you can then wait almost 2 hours before you see a doctor if you're lucky. So if you've got nothing but time and enjoy being ignored then this is your ear doctor. read more

Dr. Zeitler is the bomb. He is a fantastic doctor, but the support staff with Denver Ear Associates is so bad, that not only will I never go back, but my mother and my friend who I referred to Denver Ear are also not going back. Every experience with the support staff is like bashing your head against a brick wall. Calls are not returned, messages bumbled, etc. We asked for an estimate in February for a Cochlear implant for my 79 year old mother, and four months later, still no estimate. I have called 5 times now, left voicemails, messages, etc. Still cannot light a fire under anyone. I even tried calling Dr. Zeitler, but the messages don't seem to make it into his hands, or he does not choose to engage, not sure which. Done with them. It's unfortunate, because I really do think the doctors here are great. read more

I had central auditory processing (CAP) testing done in early January by Jennifer M, a clinical audiologist. This testing is a service provided at a cost of over $600 but purportedly comes with a detailed report of the results and expert recommendations for how to manage and live with any issues which I really needed. After the 2+ hours of tests, Jennifer M told me I would be receiving the report and a physician's note for my employer in two weeks. Three weeks later I received a report in the mail that was poorly written and contained several significant errors. As this report was also sent to my other medical providers and would become a part of my permanent medical record (to serve as a foundation of information in my path toward treatment), accuracy was quite important; in addition to the need for clear and useful recommendations and the physician's note. However, without an explanation as to why, there was no physicians note for my employer. I made three written requests for clarification on the report and updates to make it accurate and professional but was dismissed by Jennifer each time. When I returned to DEA for a physical exam of my ears, I waited over an hour past my appointment time before being seen by Dr. Muckle. He assured me I would be receiving a corrected report once his treatment concludes so I will update this review when that happens. If you are considering CAP testing, I would looked elsewhere. read more

I went here for further testing on August 6, 2019. After the testing, Dr. Feehs recommended i have a CT scan so he could determine the next steps. I met with Angela who called the imaging company and was told they would call me to schedule an appointment. On August 9 in the a.m., I had not heard from the Imaging people, so i called Denver Ear. I was told the scheduler would get back to me. At 3 pm the same day, i had not heard back, so i called again. Apparently "the scheduler" was busy, so i left another message. I did not hear back from the office. On August 13, i called the imaging office - they had no record of any referrals for me. I called Denver Ear yet again and had to leave a message yet again. Today is August 14, 2:00 pm. I have not heard from them. The doctor is good, the audiologists were good. Office staff and management, not so good. Not sure i'll Make my next appt since it depends on my CT which i can't get. Not at all impressed and yes, there wait times are kind of ridiculous. read more

I have been a patient at Denver Ear Associates since 2008. I have multiple diagnoses that contribute to my vertigo, balance, and dizziness disorder. Dr. Feehs has been very engaged in accurately diagnosing my issues, and has been professional, considerate, and kind. I have allowed Dr. Feehs to perform seven ear surgeries, and he is an excellent surgeon. He has also consulted directly with my physical therapist in participating in my vestibular rehabilitation following each surgery. Abnormalities and diseases of the ear are very complicated, can produce debilitating symptoms, and impact the functioning of multiple systems of the body. As such, proper diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation can be an art along with a science, and do take time, of which both the patient and the doctor must participate together. I have interfaced with multiple audiologists for tests such as hearing, VEMP, fistula, VNG, and EGOG. Each person conducting the test was professional and considerate, and explained each test to me thoroughly. There can be a two to three week lag in getting a test such as VEMP scheduled. My experience with the staff has been good. Dr. Feehs medical assistant has been invaluable in working with my disability insurance company and the social security disability office in providing the medical documentation required for claims. The front office staff, including those that answer phones, make appointments, in-process and out-process patients are efficient most of the time. My suggestion to the business would be to have an independent party evaluate the smoothness of the front office interface with patients for potential improvements. read more

My son was discovered to be completely deaf in his right ear as a result of a school screening. After confirming the diagnosis thru Douglas County and pediatrician appointments, we were referred here by a friend. While they did confirm the lack of hearing, I was told to wait for the doctor to review the results. The doctor took one look at the multiple tests, spent three minutes with my son and announced that we were to schedule surgery as soon as possible, as there was a foreign body and we needed to get it out, not get a hearing aid. I was told prior to coming in that each patient as treated as they were the only patient, and that patience might be needed. It is difficult to remember in our disposable immediate response world that sometimes we aren't the only person who needs help. Instant gratification doesn't happen when you go to a specialist, who is not only a specialist, Dr Muckle is one of the best Ear doctors in the state. You want him to help you. I am scheduled for a week or so out now to find out how well the surgery worked, but I am forever grateful for my referral here, regardless of the endless whining of an ADHD kid in a full waiting room. read more

This place is a scam. They thrive on elderly people. Over charge the insurance company if they think they can get away with it. What the insurance company doesn't pay they will hound you for years even if it is $100. The office manager Lynn Benjamin is a cold bitter unprofessional woman. I didn't need the test they gave me and they waited until the end to tell me I was right about my diagnosis and they had no cure, treatment and they don't even know what causes it. I had to pay a $50 co-pay even though they knew all of this in advance. I filed a complaint with the state and the BBB. Avoid this place. read more

DR. Muckle is great, he's the first ENT doc let alone a neurotologist in 32 years in the Denver Metro area who has suggested putting ear tubes in under anesthesia for an adult. "Do you know how much that hurts?" Why yes, yes I do, as I've had over 30 sets with 10 other docs done without anesthesia. Office staff I haven't had a problem with, although they aren't super friendly, but the surgery scheduler was super nice. I have not had any issues with the audiologists, all of whom at least recognize that fluctuating hearing is the hallmark of Meniere's Disease, and can actually change in the time for one visit. Yes, the practice can run late - they are 2 of only 8 neurotologists in the state, and when they have emergency appointments, of which I've been one, those emergencies can be a threat to someone's life, brain, or permanent hearing. They also rotate being "on call" for several other of the remaining 6 neurotologists. Every neurotologist I've ever seen (10 of them) runs late. Think they should schedule that time for emergencies? I've worked for other types of surgeons, and there is no way to figure out which days are going to be screwed up. BTW, Dr. Muckle and Dr. Feehs are currently the only docs at the practice. read more

Dr. Muckle is among the best in his field at his craft. In addition to being extremely knowledgeable and skilled, he also has an excellent bedside manner. He is friendly, answers all of your questions, and takes as much time as his patients need to ensure they are comfortable with his diagnosis and treatment. His office staff are also very friendly and helpful---they always get back to you as soon as possible, and are never disrespectful. My PCP recommended that I come to this office because of the dizziness and vertigo that I have been suffering with for a long time. Checking in, the staff wasn't too bad. They were not reaching out to be super friendly, but they were doing their job so it wasn't a problem at all with them. Then they took me back for a hearing test. I was surprised by this, not understanding what a hearing test had to do with vertigo. But I wasn't going to question it. They know what they're doing. After the hearing test, and finding that my hearing is incredible, they asked why exactly I was there and they seemed truly confused. When I told them, it was like they cared even less about my needs. When Dr. Z came in, I was incredibly turned off. He was very quick and kept interrupting me, not allowing me to tell him what I've been suffering with. Finally he started to do some "tests" on me but in the end he made me feel like I was wasting his time. He truly did not care about me as a patient at all. He then shoved me off on his assistant to set up MRI's and all these other tests and just left in order to quickly forget about me I guess. His assistant was beyond sweet and nice and really enjoyed her. However, I did not follow up on any tests he wanted me to because the entire time I really felt like he did not care about me the way a doctor should. I would never go back to this place and never recommend it to anyone. And I shared all this with my PCP so she wouldn't recommend anyone to them. I have not received a bill from them, but not too excited to have to pay for such horrible service. Very poor patient care!!!! read more

Disorganized, discourteous, unprofessional. I don't write reviews often, but since the quality of care has changed drastically at Denver Ear Associates I felt like it would be helpful to prospective clients. I will start with non-objective complaints and then express my feelings afterwards. Following my initial visit and tests the Dr. said that they would want to try me on a couple of prescriptions but that there were more tests to be done and that some prescriptions might interfere with test results. I was given a prescription to start right away (a steroid) but he didn't clarify if I should actually fill the other prescriptions and start taking them, or wait until after the tests, or until he evaluated the tests or if I would ever definitely be on the remaining prescriptions. When I called his office for clarification, they were as confused as I was and told me they would contact the Dr. and call me back. Two days later I called again to more confusion and another promise that they would call me back. They never did and I found out by a surprise call from my pharmacy that DEA had sent the prescriptions to be filled... even though I was not supposed to be taking them yet. The billing is unorganized and error-prone. My insurance company has been billed incorrectly and then resubmitted to until they are charging me additional co-pays out of confusion! The DEA office sent me to get an MRI, and set up the appointment for me. When they set up the appointment the MRI office explained that there would be a -very- large co-pay (they gave the estimated figure to the DEA representative on the phone) and explained that I needed to be ready for that when I went for the MRI. DEA did not relay that information to me and I was quite surprised when I got to the MRI office. On multiple occasions I have been double-billed, and not billed and there seems to be very little consistency as to billing in general. Even the billing department is confused when I call in with questions. I would like to say that the DEA staff in charge of actually issuing ear tests and balance tests seem wonderful. Extremely capable and experienced, they give a feeling of confidence and concern which is most appreciated by anyone in the rather frightening position of potentially losing all sense of balance and hearing. Now for the subjective portion of my review: Years ago I had a wonderful experience with Denver Ear Associates, and have been recommending them where appropriate ever since. At the end of 2015 I started having vertigo and constant ringing in my ear so naturally went back with high hopes. My first impression this time was an extremely snide and grumpy receptionist. My only consolation while spending time in the waiting room was that I could see that he was dreadful to everyone and not just me. I chalked it up to him having an extremely bad day (In subsequent visits I have determined that this is his default attitude). The physician I had dealt with previously was no longer there, and the new Doctor made me feel as though he really didn't have time for me (which seems odd given how much the visits cost). In addition to that, I felt as though he would not listen to my concerns but rather was just giving me a rather rehearsed diagnosis. Most patients with my condition are chiefly concerned with the vertigo, but I am a professional musician and am chiefly concerned with the loss of my hearing. Even in subsequent visits he really only has any concern for the vertigo and does not address my hearing since (as he mentioned in my last visit) my condition wouldn't allow him to prescribe hearing aids. Something about the way he said that led me to believe they make their bread and butter on prescribing hearing aids and try to do that whenever possible. Perhaps if all you need is to get hearing aids prescribed, and you don't mind fighting with inexplicable billing and errors submitted to your insurance, Denver Ear Associates would be fine. As I mentioned before, the staff actually issuing hearing and balance tests are top-notch. read more

I spent the last 43 years not hearing out of my right ear. Numerous doctors and audiologists told me there was no hope; the nerve was dead. Some said their hearing aid would help, but when I tried it, they were wrong. Having loved music and even singing with groups at various places, once the right ear no longer worked properly I could not hear well enough to harmonize. That was a disappointing thing, but another was when I realized that even talking on the phone was impossible if I used the right ear. Soon I also discovered that I could not tell what direction noise came from. Being young I developed a great lip reading ability and adjusted to what I was told couldn't be fixed. Fast forward to December of 2016.... when I was referred to Dr. Feehs at Denver Ear Associates. Jennifer, one of the audiologists heard my story and discussed with Dr. Feehs how my nerve actually did respond to stimuli. A week later I saw him and he explained that a surgery called Stapedectomy would likely restore at least some hearing in that ear. Can you imagine? Some hope after over four decades! Surgery was performed in February and I am thrilled to once again be hearing in stereo. I can use the right ear on the phone now, and am able to tell what direction a noise is coming from after all these years. I can't recommend this facility, the staff, and Dr. Feehs highly enough. read more

Long waits, staff that doesn't follow through, prescriptions never sent, doctors who are so impressed with themselves they really don't care about the patients. I have been referred to Dr. Robert Muckle by another ENT here in the Denver area. I suffer from Meniere's disease that causes me severe dizziness and imbalance and at time nausea and vomiting. I had seen Dr. Muckle about 5 years ago and then stopped seeing him and moved on to other doctors when I did not receive any satisfying treatment from him. When I began seeing this other doctor this past December, he referred me to Dr. Muckle. Reluctantly I agreed to see Dr. Muckle. On 1/12/2018 I waited a long time, as usual, to see Dr. Muckle. His receptionist Haley, was very snotty to me and discouraged me from going to my car to obtain medical records for Dr. Muckle because I was "scheduled for 11:30 a.m." Based on Haley's discouragement, I did not go to my car, but ended up having to wait almost two hours to see Dr. Muckle. On 1/12/2018 I was scheduled for a videonystagmography (VNG) for 1/15/2018. On the morning of 1/15/2018, there was a ice and snow storm here in Denver which caused me to be 20 minutes late. Instead of being reasonable, Haley turned me away. I went back to the doctor who referred me to Dr Muckle and explained the situation. Nothing was said about me needing a VNG before the steroid injections. The referring physician established another referral to Dr Muckle for steroid injections today, 1/29/2018. When I arrived today, Haley again turned me away because "Dr. Muckle wanted me to have a VNG before he would do steroid injections." VNGs are only diagnostic procedures that do not treat my condition. I have had about three or four VNGs since 2012, and they all confirm the same thing - that I have Meniere's disease. I saw no point in wasting time and money on a procedure that will do nothing more than confirm what every doctor I have seen in the past five years already knows. Dr. Muckle needs to fire Haley!!! If he doesn't, she will drive patients away and destroy his medical career! read more

Run, don't walk away from this practice. My twelve year old son was referred to an otologist here. And we have had the worst experience with Dr. Feehs and the reception staff. Horrible. After spending thousands of dollars on an MRI and Catscan (which Dr. Feehs hardly looked at), we received absolutely no direction for our son. He has significant hearing loss in one ear. The direction we were given was basically "come back and see us in two months." When his ears began ringing --enough to wake him up at night-- we made an emergency appointment (which of course was still four days wait). I took my middle schooler out of classes and took the afternoon off of work (again, this is our THIRD visit), drove 1.5 hours. Sat in construction traffic and walked in the office three minutes after our appt time. The receptionist looked at me like I was a nut, and said, "your appointment was at 2:50." I looked at the giant clock behind her head, thinking I was crazy, and said, "that was three minus ago." She asked us to sit-- we sat for 10 minutes then she told us per Dr. Feehs, we would have to reschedule. Neither he or his assistant would speak to me. Three hours I spent in the car. Time taken off work. A child with a serious problem not seen. I wish I knew what else I could do to make that others do not experience this. read more
