They take great care of your eyes but the wait time at an appointment is absolutely ridiculous. I've waited up to 2 hours at a scheduled appointment. I know they double up on appointments since a woman was checking in for the same doc for the same appointment time. During your examination the Dr. Pethe speaks to you in plain and simple terms that you can understand. When finished you then get to select the eyewear that is so comfortable and good looking. To assist in this process I was fortunate enough to have Rolf the Optometrist perform his magic. First he refitted my old glasses as the got a bit twisted. When he handed them back to me it was a perfect fit. Rolf's approach to the process is amazing and so enjoyable he is a GREAT GUY with years of experience. I walked up to the front desk and they said there was an emergency waited another 45 minutes - I asked the front desk if this happens a lot with Dr. Carlson and they all looked off a bit and barely answered - sounds like something may be going on. I finally grew tired of searching for my reading glasses and unfortunately chose InSight Laser to get lasik surgery. After calling repeatedly and leaving messages that were never returned, I set the 1st appointment that took a two month wait. When I came for the appointment, I waited an hour in the overly full and dirty waiting room to meet with a technician then Dr. Johnson. Dr. Carlson gave a very polished presentation. I clearly stated my entire objective of this surgery was to get rid of my reading glasses. InSight's greatest focus and time spent was with the business manager so I clearly understood the high charges. My insurance would pay over $4000 and I would pay almost $4000 out of pocket. They set another appointment 3 months away. I needed to change the appointment time and again experienced calling repeatedly and leaving messages that were never returned. I received minimal surgery instructions and needed clarification and again experienced calling repeatedly and leaving messages that were never returned. A few times I finally got a receptionist to answer who would tell me to call their surgery center and experienced the same non-communication. Foolishly, I proceeded to the surgery arriving on time and left to wait 1:20. The receptionist was quick to get my final payment but offered absolutely no updates when my surgery would actually occur. Once in the cold surgery area, we were robed and left to wait again. Once in the surgery area, I picked up my head to ask the doctor a question only to have him grab my head like a melon and shove me back on the table. After the surgery and even many months later, I have what appears to be a very annoying dirt or debris on the inside of my lens. Not only do I still need my reading glasses but I had to go to a higher strength. This experience was a complete waste of time and money leaving me with worse vision. read more

Dr. Amiel seems knowledgeable and was wonderful at answering my questions. His staff on the other hand is HORRIBLE! After my appointment I was turned over to a surgical coordinator. She had to Google the procedure and diagnosis! I wanted to know if my insurance would cover the procedure and how much my out of pocket would be. She said she'd get back to me. A week went by, no word. I called her, she had no recollection of our conversation. She told me to call someone else for my answers. That person also didn't return my call. Finally got ahold of her, she told me she needed to ask someone else and someone would get back to me. A few days later I got a call from yet another person who assured me she'd get me some answers and would call me back. Guess what...she didn't. I had to leave her a message. She called me back and told ME to call yet ANOTHER person. Who also hasn't returned my call. I finally called and asked for the office manager. I've now left TWO messages for her. And still no return phone call. I guess I'll have to find a doctor and staff that actually care about doing their jobs and taking care of their patients. read more

The doctor I saw was amazing and took time to listen to what my problems were. When it comes to the other staff, absolutely terrible. I ordered my glasses and after over 2 weeks I stopped in to see if they were ready. I was told no but that he would call me with an update. Never heard from him so I called 2 days later and was told they were in. When I asked why I was not called and the guy said he was too busy and hasn't called anyone but would call me once they're ready. Another WEEK went by and no phone call so I stopped in, only be told my glasses still haven't been inspected so I said I was happy to wait. When attempting to adjust my glasses, the employee started telling me why he couldn't adjust them, that my eyebrows are uneven as well as my ears!! The employee then continued to sit back in his chair, watching me try to adjust them myself! I heard nothing but excuses from this employee and wasn't willing to try to help me figure out what we could to with my glasses. Don't go there if you need to order your glasses... I would recommend their other office in Denver. This was a horrible experience! read more

The wait times here are ridiculous. I took a half day from work arrived 1/2 hour early for an initial consult. After an hour and 15 min I finally got into an exam room. I immediately told the staff member that I would need to leave at 5pm (2hrs after I arrived) and she told me that it should be "no problem" and that "my eyes are super easy and I should be in and out". Not the most assuring statement in my mind when consulting on eye surgery. After a quick vision check I was told to sit back in the lobby and wait again. After being at the clinic for 2 hrs and never seeing the doctor I left. Poor customer service and communication. If the doctor was so behind, they should have said so at the outset and have me reschedule rather than make me wait and potentially leave my kid waiting for a pickup while they tried to get me to do my surgery with them. I was also told I would not be able to meet the surgeon until the time of the surgery. Not very assuring when trusting your vision to this person. With this level of service at the outset, I can only imagine how bad their service would be after they had my money! The big takeaway for me. This place doesn't seem to care about their patient's experience or time. My interaction was poor, at best. If anyone else feels the way I did, JUST WALK OUT. read more

They used to be a good place to get your eyes taken care of, years back. Since then, the practice has declined. Their main weakness is lack of organization, which can make it hard to get treatment. Dr. Carlson is a good practitioner, but, recently, when she went on leave, the practice ghosted us. We left half a dozen urgent messages over a week's time, with as many promises to call back in a few hours. Several weeks later, not a single call. We can only conclude that no one at Insight Vision Group cares about whether all their patients can see. Maybe if they like you a lot, you'll get good treatment, but be warned: they are willing to drop patients without notice. read more

My main reason for writing this review is that I have to give HUGE thanks to Amber, the operations manager. In this day and age, not many people truly excel at their jobs but Amber does. She went out of her way to help me out on multiple occasions without having to ask. why I can`t put no points! My wife have schedule an appointment at 8:00 with is the 1st in the morning. we arrived on time, and finished all pre-test in 10 min, then we start to wait without any time notice. after 30-40 min wait we have asked the assistant then she move us form a waiting room to a doctor office room. it take another 30 min without any person come in.the assistant told us is the doctor with previously patient, but we suppose the 1st appointment of the day? we give up on this and left the office. Meanwhile when we are in the waiting room, the room is not clean with some dust on the coach and the bugs are crossing the hallway! We have take 2 hours off of both our work for get nothing! I can not believe that they think everyone`s time is not valuable as theirs. I am come here to have treatment for my eyes, which is most valuable parts of our body. I can not image if I let them to touch my eye with this unprofessional and informal management team! I was very pleased with my annual contact lens eye exam and fitting here. This is a big practice that does both basic eye exams and has a lot of ophthalmologists for patients with more serious eye care needs or those who are having LASIK. The office was very efficient and my exam went smoothly. Dr. Barber was very personable and helpful. I told him I wanted to stick to the brand of contacts I have been used to wearing for the past 10 years, which he did not happen to have in stock, so he wrote me out the specific prescription so I could order them from home. Unlike other eye doctors I have been to, he did not try to up-sell me on fancy new, expensive contacts. Really nice practice, I will be back for my eye exams! read more

I had a great experience at Insight Vision. The facility was very nice, the staff and providers were prompt and prices were very clearly explained prior to my appointment. The doctor actually spent time with me making sure that my contacts were working out and that my prescription was correct. It's been almost three years since I had my LASIK done at InSight. I've worn glasses all my life and had considered having LASIK done numerous times. I have always been a huge risk avoider, but had InSight recommended to me by several people as well as my regular eye doctor. I went in for the initial consultation and after a good interview with the Drs and staff, and with the support of my eye doctor I decided to go through with the treatment. Their pricing was higher than some of the other LASIK centers that I was aware of, but what's several hundred or even a couple thousand dollars over the rest of my life compared to having problems post surgery? It wasn't a hard choice for me. The day of surgery was a bit scary, but they did everything they could to make it as relaxing and pleasant as possible including a mild anti-anxiety. The surgery itself was relatively short even with my worries that I would for some reason look away which wasn't anything to worry about at all. How about the results? Well as they say your results may vary, but I was 20/20 days after surgery and as the final healing progressed I ended up with 20/15 vision. If you're a good candidate for surgery and looking for skilled professionals, I would recommend this group to you. In fact my mom has had them perform cataract/lens replacement surgery and my brother will be seeing them soon for his own LASIK! read more

First of all, Dr. Barber is a very skilled optometrist who has a great chair-side manner. He listens to the patient and asks questions to understand the patients needs. He takes a lot of pride in his quality of work and service! He has seen my whole family over the years and we wouldn't go to anyone else. The eye glasses department has seen a lot of staff turn-over in recent months, but has finally settled on a few very high-quality people. Terri and Tyler care a lot about the patient and the quality of their vision. Terri helped me understand I was in the wrong frames for my unique vision issues (stigmatism, old eyes...) A former eye glasses optician in the group put me in a very small frame and lenses which didn't work for me. Terri started all over and made it right!!! The larger frame fits my Progressive lenses and it's perfect!! The quality of this group is outstanding!! They take the time to get to know you and make the experience top-notch!! read more

I have a unique eye condition called nystagmus, which usually requires me to see an opthamologist rather than an optometrist. My last experience in Denver was less than enjoyable, so I decided to try Specialty Eye Care since it was the closest place to my office that is covered by my insurance. My wait was rather standard, but my doc was fantastic and caring. I explained to him that I felt my last prescription from my previous doc wasn't right, so he experimented with some ideas to get me back on track. We went through a variety of options and tests until he felt confident with his plan. We even went to another room and tested my vision looking out a window at a stop sign through the lens he was thinking of using (I was having issues seeing at a distance with one eye). He was also pretty knowledgeable about my condition. I really appreciated his desire to get my vision right. And so far my prescription has been far better than my previous one. I also bought lenses from Specialty Eye Care. The guy who helped me initially was kind and did a good job explaining my benefits. When my lenses came in with a scratch, the lady I saw that day said it was no problem and got the issue taken care of. There is another woman who works there that is older who I feel like can be kind of abrasive at times (from what I've observed), but she was fine when I had to come pick up my replacement lens. I did have to wait a while for 2 of the 3 visits I made, but it wasn't too long. Like any regular doctor visit, it's important to have an eye doctor you trust. So far my experience with Specialty Eye Care will keep me coming in for my annual exam. read more

My first impression was great, lasik consultation wasn't too long and the Dr was friendly and gave me a treatment plan. Price was a bit steep at $2100 per eye but I was still considering having my work done there. Unfortunately communication afterwards was horrible. The front desk is certainly not trained to return simple phone calls and getting back to patients. I was trying to reach them for 4 days about some additional questions I had about my treatment plan. My eye doctor has also tried calling them several times to set up the pre-op and post-op. No luck. Not even a call back. For those reasons, I went elsewhere to have my work done. I don't have any doubt that the doctors are amazing but unfortunately the staff is dragging this office down. read more

The staff here is INCREDIBLE! I saw Dr. Carlson for a consultation and her knowledge blew me away. I loved how comfortable I was during the whole visit. The day of surgery I was very nervous. The staff gave me Ativan to help calm me down before we began. I must've had a large breakfast because it didn't kick in until after the surgery. Which, looking back now, is totally okay with me. Here's the thing... the nurses/staff/doctors all made me feel so relaxed and comfortable that I probably didn't even need it. Before I entered the surgery suite I was introduced to the surgeon (Dr. Johnson) and he looked at my corneas one last time to ensure they were healthy for surgery. We proceeded to walk into the surgery suite and got started. Of course I was still nervous but the surgeon and the staff talked me through step by step what was happening. Because of this, I felt at ease. After they were finished, I sat up and I could see!! It was milky (like I was under water) but I started crying because it was the first time in my life (since I was a kid) that I could see!! The doctor then checked my corneas one last time and then I was escorted back to my husband and kids (they are two and four years old and the staff was incredible to them too). I CANNOT stress enough how incredible this place is! After a long nap at home, I had 20/15 vision the very next day. You guys... my vision before was -4.75 (contact lenses strength)! The next day, I did a post op appointment and everything was healing great. This place is pricey.. I'll say that... but I would pay it 10x more just to get the care, experience, and expertise that I received. I recommended this place to my mother in law and I hope she does it. Insight LASIK was an excellent business. My husband got LASIK eye surgery here and had a great experience all around. The office area is very professional looking and there's magazines if you get bored. The cool part I found about this experience is that you can actually watch the LASIK procedure being done in a little guest waiting area. An assistant will sit down with you and tell you exactly what is going on in the operating room. So, If you're coming with a significant other or friend it can be very educational!! read more

This vision center always has long wait times I feel like I meet with the doctor for 5 minutes and the most of it is me getting examined by a nurse then waiting for another 30 minutes if not more to meet with my doctor. On top of that even when waiting to just have my glasses adjusted is a 30 minute wait. The glasses specialist Richard is also very rude and not fit to be in a customer service position. He acts as if he's put out by even helping someone i rather work with anyone else. Dr. Barber is a great doctor but I don't think I'll come back to this center after being a customer for 3 years. Dr. Alan Barber had been treating my vision needs since I moved to Denver in 2010. I have been extremely pleased with the quality of his care. In my 40 years of wearing contact lenses, Dr. Barber has been by far the best Eye Care Physician in fitting me with lenses. I have never seen better than I currently do with the lenses he has fitted me with. What I'm most impressed with is the time he invests in each exam and his dedication to always finding the optimal treatment. I went in for a consult on Lasik. Everything was fast, everyone was friendly and let me ask a million questions patiently. I'm rating three stars because I was told it's an extra $300 if I want to finance the procedure through CareCredit. I wasn't planning on financing it but I feel like that's an unnecessary charge. Or if it is necessary I wish it was explained why there was an extra fee. This fee was not charged at 3 other Lasik offices I've been to. The Lasik costs are about the same for all the Lasik consults I've been to and this one was right in line. read more

I highly recommend Insight Vision Group and specifically Dr. Teresa Carlson! The atmosphere is very professional and friendly, and I am a very happy patient that changed from another eye doctor in Littleton after seeing him for fifteen years. I have Keratoconus and have had two cornea transplants. I have worn rigid gas permeable lenses for twenty years, which have been incredibly uncomfortable. I like to call Dr. Carlson the contact whisperer, because she has done such a phenomenal job! She helped me get setup with scleral lenses, which have changed my life. I just went back for a follow up and am blown away to have 20/15 vision for the first time ever. Beforehand, I have had at best 20/30 vision with corrective lenses. As a mountain biker, these lenses are no longer irritated by wind which makes a huge adjustment to my quality of life. The staff at check-in are extremely friendly and attentive. The experience with Dr. Carlson and all the staff at Insight makes me feel like a member of the family, and I highly recommend to anyone interested in getting top tier medical care. Their prices have been very reasonable and their billing department has explained all costs very clearly, so I know what to expect with the treatment provided and the associated costs. As an RN of 45 years I was absolutely horrified to be told that staff wear a "mask" to get within 14 inches of my face during an eye exam. A respirator and full face shield is the standard in this situation. I need my eye pressure checked but prefer not to get covid from inappropariate and substandard ppe use. Absolutely disgusted by them. This is lousy patient care. read more
