"Why are you going in there alone?" "Why are you turning down that dark scary hallway?" The elevator is kind of scary and old and the flickering fluorescent lights are a bit unnerving, but all seems relatively well and safe here. Sure, I'm used to living in the suburbs. But I still feel like it's not terribly convenient to have a storage unit off a big busy street with meter parking (maybe you get a spot right out front, maybe not) when you're trying to pick up heavy boxes of stuff and get them to your car. They have dollys and all, but it's still odd to me to be wheeling personal items down Broadway to your car. Keep in mind they have standard biz hours so you can't make any late night stops!

Two years ago, after my mother's death, I sorely needed a place to store her completed artwork, and…read moremany of her other things. I needed a place to put them that was safe from fire and theft. So I went to A Storage Place near El Rancho. The then manager, Richard, helped me immediately, and I was able to move all of these precious things instantly. I have paid by check for two years and never had a problem. Suddenly this spring, I received an email saying that I was delinquent on my payments. It turned out that their bank's check reader had misread my check and had put an extra digit at the end of my account number. They assumed that I had written a bad check. As a successful educator of more than three decades, I have never in my life written a bad check. I contacted my bank and worked through them to try to resolve the issue with A Storage Place. The new manager, Brian, hung up on me three times. He shouted at me over the phone and was exceedingly rude. Then my banker, Lily, try to reason with him, and he hung up on her three times. Finally, our bank manager Helen was able to get him to calm down and talk to her reasonably. She ended by saying very firmly, "Our client did not write a bad check. You can simply re-deposit the check with the correct account number." Apparently he did not get the message. I had to send them another check. The way that I was treated then and the way that I was treated when I decided to move out has shown me that the people who run A Storage Place have no idea of how to behave professionally. If I had treated the people I worked for as a professional educator the way I have been treated by the staff at A Storage Place, I would've been fired on the spot. If you wish to be treated with respect, do not rent a storage unit from this business! There are so many other options!

I recently moved to Denver for Hawaii (as I am sure you well know by now if you have read any one…read moreof my last 5 reviews). The entire process would have been infinitely more difficult if not for the kind, friendly staff of DTC Self Storage. When I knew for sure that I would be leaving for Denver, I took a week or so in May to visit the city and check out various self storage places. Few were as accommodating as DTC Self Storage. I was able to sign the paper work in May and start shipping items to the location in September! I believe the price at that time was around $70 a month for a 10x10. This business was kind enough to not only allow me to ship my items directly to their facilities, but they personally placed everything neatly and orderly into the unit that I reserved. I was even able to order large items from Amazon and Newegg and ship them directly there! Made taking advantage of those black Friday deals a snap. Also, they will allow you to use their delivery truck to get your stuff to where you are moving. I, alas, did not need to take advantage of this (see my review for Seven Brothers Moving), but it was nice to know I could have. A 5-star review does not even begin to express the amount of gratitude I feel for DTC Self Storage. Even as I write this, I am half way tempted to have pizza delivered to them right now. Many, many thanks for making my move that much less hectic. 5 stars - highly recommend "S"

Convenient, yes, but there is no management on site to fix locks and keypads so that you can…read moreactually enter/secure your locker or even enter the premises without long delays should you have such a problem. It is virtually impossible to directly reach anyone by telephone. They require a full month's rent if you overstay by even one day. The units themselves appear to be sturdy enough, but the locks are in terrible shape. The manager told me that they all should be replaced, but I did not see any that had been replaced while I was renting there. Security is questionable -- perhaps they have been lucky. I was able to enter behind another vehicle when my gate code would not work and after I had waited more than twenty minutes for it to be refreshed, and management was still looking for me at the gate. They obviously do not watch the monitors. Snow removal is another problem that transpires from no management on site. It is not as important in a large metro area; but in the mountains, it can be serious. There are shovels for you to take care of that for yourself and the units in the shade have snow, sometimes deep snow, in front of them for weeks at a time. If you need storage and do not want to go very far, this place will do; but I would recommend that you try to find another location.

Each and every employee is very friendly and efficient. Chris has been exceptional to work with. Prices here are far better than the surrounding storage facilities (especially now under new management). Units stay pretty cool or warm because of the way these units are put together compared to all other storage facilities we looked at. Renting a Uhaul on site was an added bonus and again Chris was very friendly and again efficient renting that out to me.

The move in was easy. The move out? Not so much. After stopping in twice and telling someone on the…read morephone about my move out date, I was still called and asked why there wasn't a lock on my unit. My boyfriend with another unit had the same issue. We have both been charged another month now. When contacting the office for help we were told to "call back when some guy's name is here". Called customer service and had to submit a request for a refund even though the rep said it was clearly noted on the account what the move out dates were. Very disappointed!!
