I was able to then cancel just in time before month end, and seamlessly move into the new spot without being charged for an additional month. Now that's what I call great service! And I've never had an issue getting in or out. The dude downstairs is always helpful when I forget the number of my unit (I know, sorry). But he's really cool and willing to assist and overall I feel safe here, which is nice, because visiting a storage unit alone almost always feels akin to a scene from a horror movie. "Why are you going in there alone?" "Why are you turning down that dark scary hallway?" The elevator is kind of scary and old and the flickering fluorescent lights are a bit unnerving, but all seems relatively well and safe here. Sure, I'm used to living in the suburbs. But I still feel like it's not terribly convenient to have a storage unit off a big busy street with meter parking (maybe you get a spot right out front, maybe not) when you're trying to pick up heavy boxes of stuff and get them to your car. They have dollys and all, but it's still odd to me to be wheeling personal items down Broadway to your car. Keep in mind they have standard biz hours so you can't make any late night stops!

Horrible place to do business with. In looking at the other reviews, I noticed the company only…read moreresponds to the 'good' reviews... That should say something. They do not prorate rent. If you vacate your space early, you do not get a refund. You pay for the whole month. Every other place I have ever used does prorate their spaces. If I had known before I last paid my rent, I wouldn't have paid it since I was vacating it only a few days later. Rows between buildings are narrow. If you pull up to your space you may get stuck if another renter does the same (often times it's a worker whose business uses the storage there. They have a truck and will set their equipment out in the row blocking others in). Property and elevators are poorly maintained. People have been using the elevators to ride in despite signs saying not to. Then they get locked inside and resort to kicking the metal grills out in order to get out of the elevator. I sliced my arm on one of these grills because the timer on the light for the indoor units shut the lights off. I went to the office with blood running down my arm and they said they would get the grill fixed right away... It took them over a year to fix it. There are so many better places to rent from, places that value their customers and will do right by them. DTC Storage is definitely not one of those places and I'm glad to be out of there!
