I took my parents (both in their mid 80's) to get their license renewed at the Canton location. They were dreading it and actually lost sleep over it. The lady at the front door counter was so helpful and courteous. We waited for less than 5 minutes before their names were called. The ladies at the license counters were also helpful and courteous. I was allowed to assist my parents when needed. The whole process from getting out of the car to getting back into the car was less than 15 minutes. I lost my license and expected the worst when I arrived at the DMV in Canton (long lines, not having the documentation, etc.) but it was anything but! A friendly associate greeted me at the door and got me started, and then directed me to the next step where I would have my picture taken. The wonan at the 2nd station was just as friendly and efficient; I was in and out in less than 10 minutes! What a great government experience! read more

I got one of those 10 years driver's license thingie and about a couple months ago I got a blue post card in the mail telling me that my 10 years was about to be up. Currently in the state of GA you need the following 3 items in order to get a valid driver's license... 1. Current Bank statement or utility bill with current address 2. proof of US citizenship (passport or birth certificate) 3. Social security card I was able to get in and out in about 20 minutes or less. Super easy. For some reason I got the idea that I needed to make an appointment and it could take a couple of hours...I guess maybe if I lived in NYC in the disco era...because there was nothing to it....thanks DMV. On line it says they open at 730 but they do not open until 8am. Last time I came it was a short wait to change my address on drivers license. This time for a state ID for my 16 yr old. People arrived early to line up at the door. Quick over all for simple services. Not friendly though. read more

This was the most pleasant experience I've ever had when visiting the DMV in GA. I filled my application out, stops behind two other customers, got my number, sat down & was about to pull my phone out to put it in silent & my number was called. I had four separate actions to address. 1-Star is being generous. Absolutely the worst government office experience in my life. A program of "useless" headed by a supervisor who lacks any real idea about public service, and exemplifies this sub-standard before the other co-workers. Notice has been sent to the Ga. Dept. of Revenue that this office has a serious problem. Any further discussion or questions will have to be made in person. Under no circumstances, will I go back to this office for virtually anything, ever . It's reputation of Zero-Star service is far more common than the Commissioner, or Yelp, even knows. read more

The staff here is actually so rude i mean they wouldn't even let me get two words in before telling me to go away when I was trying to pull up the website to pull up the print after I got an email saying I could do a license upgrade 7 days before I turn 18. I drove all the way out there and she just told me the email was fraud and wouldn't even give me a chance to show her their legit website where it said I could do it. As I was walking out I talked to the lady and the front and she just didn't even know and the lady who was supposed to help me was getting in her car so i'm just assuming she wanted to get out of there and didn't want to get stuck helping me. Pretty sure a qualification for this job is to be a Karen. First Lady was so nitpicky with everything. Had to get back in line 3x because she wouldn't let us use her pen for 2 seconds. Then after waiting for the drivers test for a half hour the testing lady told me she couldn't let my son test because we didn't have the small tag sticker. I told her we did have it but my husband forgot to put the sticker on, but that the information is valid and in the computer. They have the ability to look this up. My husband works in law enforcement and even said to deny a test for the sticker not being there is ridiculous. Stickers fall off and are damaged often, so despite seeing in the computer our tag was valid, she denied us the test and we had to drive home 40 min and come back. Thankfully Karen #2 who made us leave wasn't doing the test, as I believe she'd fail my son just because. Second Lady we dealt with was nice. No issues with her but we will never use canton dmv again. I'm the past we've used Kennesaw and never had any issues. read more

Most of the people here are professional, even nice, particularly the ladies in the front who direct traffic, but I rate this one low because of the one unprofessional young lady, the youngest person I saw working there, who was at one of the desks and who had such an attitude of hatred toward me personally. Still 1 star. A bunch of m************ h********** (seriously it is entirely and 100% deserved!) 5th time coming in (FIFTH!!!!!!! For an address change!). Got a ticket yesterday for expired tag! Well, it has been over a freaking month, almost 2 l moved to this freaking slowwwwwwwww pace area (slow to the point that bored police officers are just looking for people with a 1 week and half expired tag. Got stopped 3 different times already but thankfully received only 1 ticket. Wow I'm even to the point where l am happy and thankful about a ticket) and have been trying to change this address at the DDS in order to get my new tag. Today AGAIN, didn't make it, because after a LONG wait (due to not enough counters available once again), Mrs. Barbara L told me, when l brought all the possible documents required (l even looked at the website yesterday to make sure nothing wrote there was missing), that one document (NOT on the useless website) was missing. Like seriously. What are your computers for? Can't you look up things with some numbers we can give you? Don't the state departments communicate among themselves. Spying on us and sharing our information with non needed services is ok (like unwanted credit cards offers or random institutions sending me birthday cards inviting me to try their services. Like how did you even know it was my birthday, l have never heard about your company or been there), but sharing information among needed departments of the state so we don't walk around with our important documents EVERY time we need something is not ok? The lady could not care less. " Sorry sweetie. " yeah right, please stop patronizing. Your behavior and facial expression was clearly screaming I DONT GIVE A D****! Can't wait to close this counter! Almost 2 freaking months going back and forth. They are slow, nonchalant. Like can we kinda "update" the staff there to start with? Annoyed beyond words. We love to complaint about waiting and blaming it on them if they can't helps us with our issue. We want them with a big smile, WHY? they are doing their job!! you didn't bring all the documents requested... your fault, why would they make an exception with you? I filled out the paperwork online and I was there for 15 minutes the most, the lady at the window wasn't with a big smile on her face but she wasn't rude either. The only reason I give this a 2 star is for the lady at the front desk and the amount of time that I spent there. I was in and out within about 15 minutes which was great! A woman who seemed to be a manager of some sort is the reason for my low rating. She was completely unprofessional and extremely rude; basically laughing in my face over my marriage certificate. When she approached me she said "sista, now tell me where in the world did you get married???" She proceeded to tell me that my marriage certificate was invalid and could not be used by DDS or Social Security. With my new social security card placed in front of her, I explained that it was validated by social security which means she shouldn't have a problem verifying it. She seemed hesitant to issue me a new drivers license with my new last name on it. I'm still not completely certain why she ended up issuing me my license. It may have been the fact that I pointed out to her where the "certified" portion was on this license. Along with the 5 signatures on the license. Although I have never gone through this process before, I would have expected issues with the office of social security if my "hand written" certificate was a real problem. Because of the way she handled this situation, I will not return to this location. She laughed in my face, loud enough for the entire lobby to hear. Livid. read more

Lucy at the Woodstock office is amazing I've had the best driver service experience for Tags and drivers license since we moved to Cherokee County. The DDS (DMV) here is super slow.... They really need to re-evaluate their current processes to speed things up. How about when you walk in have someone at the desk that will pre-scan your documents, take your photo, check your paperwork, etc; so that when you finally get to the counter all you have to do is the minimum and pay for your license services. Basically you take a number and you wait and you wait and you wait. Finally you get up to the counter and they check all your paperwork, test your vision, and take your money; then they tell you go wait while all the paperwork is scanned and temporary color photo license is processed. So you go sit and wait and wait again. Finally you get your documentation back and a temporary license printed that looks like something you could have just did at home. I guess I got use to the DMV in SC where you get your permanent license without having to wait and wait. I do give kudos to the staff here for being friendly, even with all the pissed off people they deal with. read more

WOW! 5 stars for a DMV? Yep! And I'll tell ya... I'm quite the expert on this location since I had to take my son back 3 TIMES due to failing his written exam (lol). They really do have a great system here. They have numbered tickets that you pull for the reason that you are visiting. They also have a very large sitting area which fills up quickly, but I have never not had a seat to sit in. Also, it's surprisingly clean! Restrooms and all! The last time I was there was for my son's road test (which he passed the first time THANK GOD) they have an area in the back of the facility that they use. Every person that I have dealt with has been super nice and accommodating. Do your homework before you go. Road tests need to be scheduled in advance. read more

If you come to this location you might want to bring your next meal and a pillow/blanket. About fifty people waiting and only two people working. Everyone has a mask on and the chairs are about two feet apart. Most of the people here have already waited 1-2hrs or more. I think you get the picture. I just wanted to say that the employees were so helpful to my 82 year old mother and I when we were getting her ID. We were running late and it was close to closing. They helped us through the process and got her paper copy ID in just a few minutes. They were so nice and I really appreciate their helpful attitude. This was the second time we went to get her ID because we did not have all the documents the first time. Make sure to check online to be sure you have all required documentation and fill out the form online at home. It will save you time. Also, if you have had a name change for any reason (adoption, marriage, divorce, etc) the state requires certified documentation for all those changes. I will be taking my son to take his driving test soon and I do not dread it as much as I did. read more

Wow! I can't believe I am giving a government run business 5 stars but my recent experience blew me away. All 3 employees I encountered were friendly, helpful and genuinely seemed to be enjoying their job. I waited less than 5 minutes (barely long enough to fill out the form) when my number was called. Otis helped me, at the counter, change my address and renew my license. I forgot my SS card, but no big deal - he got the instructions so I could finish the process online rather than having to come back in person. BUSINESS AS USUAL? NO WAY! When it comes to dealing with government offices or businesses that require long waits or long lines, I head for the hills. I always prefer to visit the offices that are in less populated areas. This time I traveled with a friend to Canton, (we had other business in the area), so that she could have her ID replaced. We arrive, take a number and a clip board and prepare to complete the paperwork. Suddenly we hear our number announced. What? Are we in Georgia? Yes, but this office obviously runs on efficiency. When you arrive, there is no attendant to greet you but you have a sign that gives you clear and concise instructions about how you should proceed. It is just that easy and there were no real lines just a few people hanging out waiting to chat with the nice people at the counter. It was a great experience, easy in and easy out. Just be watchful when you are looking for this office, because it sits back a bit but there is a DDS sign to your right. Simple, fast and straight forward, a perfect blueprint! read more

After booking an appointment well in advance, and showing up on time as expected. I walked in the door only to be told that my drivers test was cancelled due to weather. Considering it was only drizzling outside, the thought of a cancellation hadn't crossed my mind. I did not receive a single email or text notifying me!! Due to COVID-19 booking a reservation in the first place was a challenge. The staff couldn't care less of the inconvenience, the building itself wasn't the most well kept either. My only options were to come back on Saturday at 11 or go online and reschedule. As soon as I got back in my car I went online and there was only 1 reservation left in my area within reason at another location. So after driving over half an hour to my appointment, I had to high-tail-it over to a location another 30 min away. I got extremely luckily since there seems to be no available appointments for the next several weeks. Apparently the weather wasn't too much for them to handle! read more
