Close to 5 stars but had to drop one because on my way out (before they'd technically opened yet -- it was THAT quick and efficient of a visit!) the restroom had no toilet paper. Folks, when your establishment has just opened first thing in the morning, you'd think that something like TP would've been stocked! I've used this DMV before and always with speedy and positive results. One tends to think of Patty and Selma from the Simpsons and how terrible going to the DMV can be, but the Gainesville location is pretty great. I got there 20 min. before they opened, and in all fairness, had all of my paperwork in order and had completed the online "Skip-a-Step" form. The friendly gent at the entryway had just printed out my number and while handing it to me, my number was called over the loudspeaker, resulting in a comical "Woah!" response from me when my sunglasses fell off my head in surprise at being summoned to the counter that fast. Christopher helped me and he was easy-going and helpful. Seems that after this renewal I won't have to return to do it in person, so I'm glad that I'm peacin' out the Gainesville DMV on a high note! read more

It was quick and painless. Everyone was very friendly. The check in process, I struggled with the computer and the greeter help me fill out the application. I waited maybe 15 min. i was absolutely amazed at how amazing of an experience this was. from the amount of parking spaces, to the greeter at the door. They explained the entire process for what needs to be done to get a Georgia State License., and i had additional questions ,that the lady was willing to assist me with as well. While i was sitting down waiting for my number to be called, a few people overheard my conversation and striked up a conversation with me as well, giving me some 'hints' on good foods in the area and where to go / where not to go. it was amazing on how nice these people were, especially since my only previous experiences with the DMV had been those in NY...(which were horrendous) When i was called up to the desk, the lady behind the counter and i had some small talk. she told me that she had lived in GA here entire life, and that she loved it there (i had asked her how long she was living here) She also mentioned some key areas to check out, including Lake Lanier, Mary Alice park and old federal park! (those are now on my to do list). after taking my photo and doing a brief eye exam, in addition to taking my documents (old NY drivers license, birth certificate, SS card and a copy of 2 bills), i was issued a temporary GA license. I'd give 0 stars if I could. I went to take my test on June 13th, at 3:00pm, and the lady in the car with me was maybe middle aged, possibly Hispanic and she was incredibly rude to me the whole time she was with me. She gave me no feedback, talked over me and didn't let me on the road. I failed parallel parking and reversing into a space and she failed me for the whole test. Everyone inside was nice but the lady in the car with me was silent the whole time, and I don't know why she treated me like that. I'm 20 and now too anxious to get in the car and drive. I can't call them and complain because their call service isn't very good. I don't know if she was discriminating or what but I didn't like the way I was treated. I'm going to go down and talk to them because this is unacceptable. read more

Was treated very rudely when inquired to the gentleman named Dominique that he looked sad, what could I do to make him smile or some thing similar. I will no go into what he said I said, just letting you know was treated ver badly. When I left I said God Bless you, he actually said the same back. I have never been treated so nastily by any government official in my 36 years in Hall Couny. DDS is developing a reputation for rudeness. Business was accomplished by friendly exchange was not. Hell is really the only appropriate term for this bastion of ambivalence and contempt. If you really, truly want to know where the worst of the worst of government employees are visit this location. They hand you forms to fill out but no pen, no clipboard and no location to fill them out. They willfully refuse to listen to what you just told them and you have to repeat yourself over and over again while they smirk, acting like you're squirming under their thumb. On a busy Saturday after a holiday employees are snickering at patrons, speaking loudly and rudely snapping orders. No one is pushing back though, it is difficult to see little ladies and immigrants just having to take the abuse the employees are dishing out. It's crowded, its loud and the atmosphere is soul crushing. The employee at the door doesn't speak English, and doesn't understand English, he stands and stares at you without speaking. The large, loud manager frequently pauses to yell contemptuously at the large group to order us around in some way or other. One of the young clerks, who I figured might be nicer, berates an elderly woman because she left a document at home. God this place is awful. The large, loud manager yells at my son that he is standing in the wrong place. If only I weren't 5 foot tall! I have dreams of taking a running leap to knock her why loud, dirty, rude ass to the ground. Never again! They treat you like shit at other locations, but not quite as shitty as they do here. read more

I had the worst experience on the plant. I got there at 2pm, and I left at 5pm. They didn't have enough driver instructors, and they were switching between people. If you make ONE mistake, they fail you automatically. When you try to explain what happen, they don't believe and only believe the examiner who wasn't even paying attention.The people there are unfairly, and they love to abuse their power and authority. They shade you, and make jokes about their mistakes that they did to you. I HIGHLY recommend not to go there. They love failing people, and seeing people upset. I recommend Cumming. They are the exact opposite. read more

Went in on the Friday before Thanksgiving 2016 to renew my DL. Arrived at 11:45 am and was literally driving out of their parking lot at noon sharp! 15 minutes, Incredibly fast!! Now i did do the "skip a step" process online which i highly recommend. I also checked the list of documents listed on the Georgia Drivers Services website that are required for DL renewals and came prepared with everything I would need and then some. For SS# i brought a pay stub with my address and partial SS# on it cause it was listed as on option on their website and i don't like giving my entire SS# if i don't have to. Desk clerk just verified with supervisor to see if that was ok and it was, just like the website said it would be (i had my SS card with me just in case). All in all this place was well organized and run like a well oiled machine!! Mind you this was on a Friday, which generally tends to be busier everywhere AND the week before a major holiday. I wanted to write a review that explained everything I experienced today. As soon as I knew I had to renew my driver's liscense, I went online to find out information. I created an account and filled out the online application (skip a step). I received the blue reminder card sent by mail, but more importantly, I READ it. The card told me EXACTLY what I needed to bring. I gathered my birth certificate, proof off social security identification, and two documents with my physical mailing address on them. For that, I used a bank statement and an insurance notice. I arrived at 9:50am on Wednesday, April 4. I took all of my documents with me and walked inside. A nice person met me at the door. I told her I needed to renew my license. She asked if I had filled out the online application. Since I had created an account and filled out the application, she pulled my number, B148 from a different machine. I sat down and notice B146 was being served. B147 was called next. I assumed I would be the next person in that line. I was called to another line before B147 finished. The person helping me was Allison. She was wonderful! She asked for my application and documents. Then, she asked for my current license. She asked me to stand in front of the blue screen, and she snapped my picture. I paid the $32 fee for an 8-year license, and then she gave me my temporary license and explained when I would receive the new one. The total time I was in the Gainesville DDS was 10 minutes. If you will go online, fill out an application, and follow the directions, you will be in and out quickly. I received fantastic service! Thank you Gainesville DDS and Allison! read more
