Talk about a step back in time-the 79 yr old owner was sitting right there in a 1970's desk, personally greeting anyone that came through the door. All the paperwork was really to be reviewed and more than satisfactory. The inspection had been done at the closest dealers. The son advised me he would pick up my Brother at his home, later that day. "They" would complete everything at the DMV and my Brother could drive his new car home that day. We just purchased a used car from Quail Auto Sales and could not have had a better buying experience! We had been looking for a car for our son for a long time at numerous dealerships. Although there had been cars at other dealerships that we were interested in enough to purchase, we never found sales staff that made us feel comfortable that the information we were given was reliable. For us the car was important; but equally as important was feeling that we had gotten a fair deal and trusting that what we were buying was without hidden issues. This is why we purchased from John and Steve Aidala. Their dealership is locally owned and has been for many years. The Aidala's have been part of the Albany community and pride themselves in maintaining a superior standard of service and fair business practice. We saw the car online on a rainy Saturday 30 minutes prior to Quail Auto Sales closing for that day. My husband called to make sure that they were still open and that the car was on their lot. Their website said they were not open on Sundays and we knew that this Prius was a great find. John answered the phone and my husband asked if he could make it there 10 minutes before closing, could he still look at the car? John told him that the rain would make it difficult to really look at the car and he would be happy to meet him there the next day to show him the car, even though they aren't open on Sunday. Every single interaction after that was the same good customer service, fair dealings and just an over all good feeling purchasing a car from them. I will return again to buy from Quail Auto and have recommended them to friends and family.

Like any good mechanic they are in demand so it can sometimes be hard to get through and one needs to be proactive about communicating their needs. Both when buying and selling, CarMax is up front about price (no haggle, and they honor what they advertise). The sales people offer extended warranties on purchases, but don't 'hard sell' them (note, like most others offered by car dealers these are 3rd party insurance products, not actual warranties). I've also felt that the prices they've offered on trade-ins and cash purchases of my vehicles have been fair and in line with market pricing. They honor their word on what you are getting and what you are paying. Doesn't sound like much, but in car sales to me that is everything. The Bad; While CarMax's business practices and philosophy are certainly a breath of fresh air (compared to traditional used car dealers) their customer service is less than stellar. When attempting to sell my vehicle I initially arrived without an appointment. I was turned away, being told they were too busy and they scheduled me for an appointment the following week. However when I arrived for my scheduled appointment I still wound up having to wait nearly an hour and a half before a representative could assist me. When I asked if they could send me a text or call when they were ready (as I had other things I could be spending my time doing other than waiting around a dealership for hours) they stated they couldn't and seemed uninterested in concern over the value of my time. Also, I find it very difficult to get a hold of the local CarMax location via phone/email. All calls and communications go through a centralized office who then almost always says 'I can't assist with xyz, let me try to connect with the local store'. Annoying.

When I asked about the 3rd, I was told that it was too close to closing to allow me to test drive the third car (it was 6:15). The salesperson told me that I could come back tomorrow and drive the third car. When I told him that we live an hour away, he simply said "oh, well come back when you want." I left and went to Keeler and purchased a car that evening.

Kenta Bond, the owner of this shop is a man of high integrity. He also is a master of customer service. I call him a dinosaur because, even though he is a rather young person, he provides "old time" customer service. His pricing is extremely competitive - better than many - and he truly cares about his customers. The other day he stayed late to make sure my car repair was complete. It was not a simple repair. The car needed an axle. The parts supply house was very late getting him the needed part so Mr. Bond actually got in his car and went to the supply house and picked up the part himself. That pushed the repair completion time back. However, Mr. Bond stayed about an hour past usual closing time to get the job done for me. He does high quality work and is an absolute pleasure to deal with. Please help support this small local business. He needs the support far more than the big chain repair shops in the area and his price markups are far less than theirs!
