NO NO NO NO NO! We rented a popup and drove off the lot. 50 minutes later my car's engine BLEW UP. We tried to call the company ALL DAY LONG and he wouldn't call us back, we finally rented a Uhaul to tow the camper back to his lot and we got there 8 hours later and offered to happily pay for a day or two but NO NO NO, the guy is keeping our money and refuses to even talk to us about any sort of refund. LESS than an hour and my car is destroyed with is another matter. I GET contracts say what contracts say but what happened to common courtesy, just being a decent guy, I mean, our one vacation a year is ruined and we are out a 2008 Mazda but c'mon, seriously, 50 minutes and a destroyed car and the guy is keeping our money and won't even talk to us about a refund of any kind. I was really, really nervous after reading all the BAD reviews that I noticed AFTER I made my reservation for a pop-up camper from Dependable Camper Rentals. I was ready for the worst... so I was pleasantly surprised with the service and the unit I rented. The camper wasn't perfect (... Hello... it is a rental) so I didn't give the full 5 stars, but it was in very good condition. The gentleman that helped me pick up the camper was super helpful and walked me through all the set-up steps in a quick orientation. Upon dropping off the unit, another employee that was dropping off another trailer (unrelated to my rental), came to help me disconnect. They were very nice, very professional and very reasonably priced. I would definitely rent from them again. read more

Great experience with a camper this time, not a pop-up. This camper was 19" Jayco and pretty old as well, but all in working condition. The TV was missing (which we didn't need anyway), there was a small outside piece we had to duct tape while driving, and the sensor for the septic didn't work too well, but other than that, it was great!! We had a great time! It was the same friendly sales man who gave us the tour of the camper and details before we took it for our camping trip. He is very nice and even lent us a hitch, without charging us extra. He mentioned this particular camper is older and will be "retired" soon.... they say that every time it seems. Haha! I did notice the old pop-up we had rented last time was no longer there, so I guess they "retired" it. They have a great selection of newer campers for rent, Next time we will request one of the newer ones! :) read more

I wrote a review of these guys back in March when I rented the camper. But I was so upset that it was long and rambling and a little too personal and abrasive. So now that I've had some time to cool off... Be careful when renting from this outfit. - Make sure you inspect your vehicle carefully before paying for it. - Make sure you understand the intent of the contract and that Dependable will hold you to be liable for damages - even if it's not your fault - or a faulty piece of equipment. - Make sure you have someone sign a receipt for all returned items when you return it. Don't just drop it off with no one there. The first two rentals we had with them were fine - several years ago. Recently though - March 2013 - we rented a pop-up. It was a little run down - holes in the canopy, fridge broken, external gas grill mounts broken, bed supports worn/damaged, no offline battery power. We were plugged in to the campground electric using the few internal lights available and a power outlet to run a boom box. After a while - the power converter fried and smoked up the cabin. We disconnected and I guess were lucky a fire didn't start - good thing we didn't need the AC - the weather was nice and cool. I returned the camper and pointed out in an email the worn condition and fried electric converter. Instead of offering an apology and a discount for the loss of electrical features - he immediately charged my credit card $200.00 for damages, explaining that it's in the contract "ANY DAMAGES". AND.. accused me of not returning some items. Holding the customer responsible for maintenance and upkeep of defective products is not legal under Texas implied warranty laws - I was using the camper in the manner for which it was designed. I argued with him and after a few heated phone calls and emails and legal threats - he finally gave me back my money - but it was a huge hassle. Make sure you understand Dependable's intent with their contract. My experience is, they will charge you for any damage regardless of whether it's faulty equipment or not. So ask and make sure - and "GET IT IN WRITING" for any agreements you make. read more

We rented for 2 full weeks traveling over 1700 miles to 4 different locations in west Texas, Big Bend and the surround area; Marfa/Ft Davis/McDonald Observatory, Lajitias/Terlingua, Big Bend National Park, and Marathon. The upfront instructions provided at pick up were clear and concise. The unit pulled easily, and setup and tear down at every location became simpler every time we did it, taking only minutes. This was my wife's first time to RV/camp. I was concerned!!! She loved it and ready to do it again......wasn't ready to come home!!! I'm a happy camper. Our rental was a perfect size for the two of us and all our personal items needed for 2 weeks. Although the unit operated perfectly, which I'm very grateful for, our unit showed it's age and frequent rental use. It does need cosmetic work and a thorough deep cleaning. My husband and I had a great experience with Dependable Camper Rentals. We were originally going to rent a pop-up camper from them but they only had one left and they told us it had a hole in the canvas and there was a chance of rain that weekend. They rented us a small travel trailer for a really good price instead. My husband had never towed a trailer with his vehicle before and they were so patient and helpful showing us how to connect it. There ended up being a huge storm the weekend we went camping and we were so grateful to have the travel trailer. It was very clean and we had fun playing cards at the dinette table and enjoyed cooking on the stove. Returning it when we were done was also a breeze. Well, so much for the "dependable" in Dependable Camper Rentals. Two days before our weekend getaway I get a call from the owner advising he doesn't have a camper available as someone returned the one we were to receive with too much damage. Additionally, he has no other campers available this weekend. His solution was to rent a more expensive camper from a rival rental agency, at my cost. Nope. I think what bothered me most was that he kept saying it wasn't his fault and that it was out of his hands. Needless to say, my kids are pretty bummed. read more

Low prices, really nice campers and great customer service. I don't really review a lot but when I was looking at email from a recent rental, I was trying to go to their website but was directed to the Yelp page instead. I was blown away at the negative yelp reviews and had to share my story. In August, we rented a pull behind camper for a long Lake Travis weekend. Cold air conditioning!! I called (phone was answered) and met with Jim later that day to show my wife and I the pop up camper that I was wanting to rent. He showed us the pop up but my wife was wanting to see the bigger ones so he showed us all of them. Very friendly guy that answered every question we had The campers were very clean and maintained. I ended up renting one of the larger campers because the price per night was not much more than the smaller pop up camper. Jim showed me everything I needed to do, helped me hookup, loaned me an extension cord and even helped me unhook on return. Everything worked in the camper and we had a great time. Other people from our group at the lake were coming to our camper for the cold a/c. Some friends had rented a camper from other company and they were having some problems with the A/C but not us. I called and spoke to Chuck the owner just to tell him about how great the A/C was working and how cold the camper was as it was almost 100 outside. I did not read the reviews ( I usually don't check) of this business before I rented as I may not have rented from them. Good thing for me because we had a terrific experience. They are close to my house, very friendly, helpful and the camper was just what we saw when we rented. I don't understand the other reviews. Its a really nice rental camper, not the Four Seasons. When I called to let them know my return time the owner Chuck answered as he always had, no problems with any contact issues. Nice and helpful people. I understand its a camper rental business and not a children day care. I will definitely rent from Dependable Campers in Pflugerville again. Thanks Jim and Chuck. read more
