We rented an RV from another place and had a nightmare of an experience. It was the day before we were supposed to leave on our trip and the original RV we had rented was horribly damaged and out of commission so we were given a different RV with no air conditioner and an awful smell. The person helping us was horrific, she was nasty and rude and her office had dogs running around that were jumping all over us. It was seriously a horrible first experience renting an RV. Lucky for us we were referred to Karyn at American Adventures in Georgetown. Karyn was very apologetic (for a problem that had nothing to do with her) and vowed to turn our experience around - and boy did she! She got on the phone, made phone calls, got us into an upgraded RV, had her team clean it and have it ready to go in less than 30 minutes. Every person we encountered was so friendly and so helpful. All of this took place on my daughter's 10th birthday. What almost ruined her birthday surprise turned out to be one of the most memorable birthdays she's had so far all thanks to Karyn. I've seen the worst of the worst with RV renting experiences and I've seen the best of the best. American Adventures is the ONLY place I'll trust my future vacations with. Overall, we had a good experience. They are very friendly and helpful. The RV we rented was in good shape, everything worked and it was very comfortable. American RV was very flexible with us in terms of pick up and drop off. Quick note: we are not experienced with RVs or camping. This was our first time in an RV and first time towing an RV. We did have two significant issues. One with towing and one with power. Issue #1- American RV recommended an RV size that would have been better towing with a sway bar. We had to drive at about 40-45 miles per hour in order to keep control of the RV. We were meeting up with other, more experienced RV folk and when we arrived late because of how slow we had to drive, they told us a sway bar for anything over 5,000 lbs makes it much easier to tow. American RV provided a sway bar without the required hitch or simply telling us that we needed a specialized hitch. That info would have been so helpful as it is pretty scary to drive on the freeway with a 7500, 28 ft RV attached with a regular ball hitch and no sway bar. We managed to do it, though. In addition, we were told that we would be provided a ball hitch, but were not. We had to buy one. Issue #2 - The second item and the most critical issue is that we got to our site and realized that we could not find the main power cable for the RV. It was not on the RV with the other cords and adapters, or anywhere else that we could find. We looked everywhere for the cord. Which means that we did not have the ability to hook up to a power source or the generator that we rented as a backup. It would have been a cold, miserable night for us if another RV didn't happen to have a power cord that we were able to borrow. Without that, we probably would have left the site and gone back home. Overall, nice flexible company and RV was in good shape. Two critical details almost ruined our trip, though. We will rent from them again, but will confirm the towing requirements, asking about sway bar recommendations, and make sure they provide the Main power cord. Now that we have had one RV trip, we understand a little more about what to look for and what to ask. read more

Unfortunately I should have read the real bad reviews of this company, since they did the same trick with the tires to us. Here is the list of the issues we found while using the RV. We reserved the RV May 1st, 2021, with a first payment of $500 then June 2nd, 2021, we paid the total amount of $3,725.62. AARR had a total of $4,225.62 a full month before we picked up the RV, and had more than adequate time to ensure the vehicle we reserved and prepaid for was road ready with all systems functioning as advertised. We were shocked to find many safety issues during our trip. Any one would have been unacceptable; altogether AARR should be extremely ashamed as these put our family at risk on the road: - Texas vehicle registration sticker on the windshield expired in June. - The front tires (driver and passenger side) were deformed and worn. We had to take time out of our vacation to change them during the trip, after deciding that we could not trust the judgement of AARR to give us a vehicle in safe working condition. - Rear passenger blinker and brake light not working. There may be a short circuit in the RV or maybe just the bulbs are out, but either way, not road worthy? - Bracket securing the spare tire was loose. - The excessive heat from the engine on the cabin floor (116 degrees) while driving, makes the dashboard AC ineffective. The inside temperature of the RV was only 5 degrees cooler than outside. In addition to being entirely uncomfortable, this condition also causes excessive fatigue while driving. - Fridge did not hold the required safe temperature for keeping food cool, causing items to spoil and rendering the fridge useless. The following list details items not maintained, and not ready for our rental: - Generator broken. - Electric surge protector not provided. - The GFI does not stay armed, as a result none of the GFI outlets in and out the RV can be used. Possibly a fuse out or short circuit in the RV, either way an electrical issue that should not have occurred. - None of the storage locks can be used (none of the keys worked). While we were parked, anyone could access our belongings in the storage. - Front and rear ceiling vent flap cannot be opened. This contributed to the extremely hot temperatures in the RV while travelling. - Steering wheel is not straight, or alignment is out. Was the RV involved in an accident before? - Gas level on reserve with no indication of how much was left in the tank. - No cleaning was done between the previous client and us since we found a pink bra and air pump left in the RV. - The 2 screws on the left side of the bed cabin net do not hold while they were fixed in front of us during the orientation. - No screws on the side door doormat, making it difficult to open the door. - One ring rubber seal is missing on the water outside the socket to fill up the freshwater tank. - Rusty grid in the freezer and fridge. - Bottom shelf of the fridge cannot hold weight. - Bathroom doorknob does not work 1 out of 4 times. One screw is missing, the other one is rusty. It forced us to dismount and remount the knobs to have the person exit the bathroom. - Bathroom mirror detaches from the wall as the top right attachment is missing and the lower left one does not stay in the wall. - Bathroom pipe cover on the floor not fixed to the wall. - No extinguish fire. While we were on the AARR site to pick up the RV, after an hour, it was announced that the generator was broken, when in reality it had been broken for several days. AARR provided no option for our family to rent the vehicle with the features we had paid for, and put us in a position where we had no alternative, nor did AARR offer any alternatives. When we returned the RV, we had to insist on having someone to proceed to the check-in. As of today, no one has returned the Check-out/Check-in document, nor the invoice. Part 3 of 3 We dropped the RV off on Thursday March 4th at about 10 AM. I waited until the following day Friday March 5th 12:44pm for a call back at which time I decided to call AA to see if I could speak to Karen then ...I spoke to Cory and he informed me that she was not in and he would pass the message over to her again for her to call me. Monday March 8th still no call back I decided to call hide my number and call AA at 1:26 PM and finally got to speak to Karen. Now this is the 1st time that I actually spoke to Karen since day 2 of the honeymoon, February 26th. At this time I was so disappointed at the customer service or lack there of that all I could speak of was the reimbursement of my out of pocket expensive. During the conversation with Karen I asked about her unfortunate fall she had and inquired on how she was doing but there was no mention or question on how disastrous our honeymoon trip was. She seemed only concerned about the total of out of pocket expense I had (which was given to Cory already) and even ask for me to write a review. The COOLEST Family Vacation EVER (thanks to American Adventure RV Rentals)! We always wanted to take an RV trip, but I never quite could muster up the courage for what I was afraid would be a very expensive and very difficult experience. Could I actually drive one of those massive palace on wheels through the mountains? How do I handle all the difficult connections (electricity, sewage, water, etc.) at the campgrounds? I never had done anything like this and was petrified at how tough "I thought" it would be. Well the time came that I finally faced down my fears. The family wanted a trip to Colorado, and I'll be damned if I'm going to give another penny to the airlines and fight the madness at the airports. We did our research, talked to everybody in town, and selected American Adventures RV Rentals for 2 big reasons: 1. Even though they were a little more expensive up front, they included all mileage and generator charges (costly, unpredictable addons at all the rental other places). 2. Jeffrey (the owner) and his staff were incredibly friendly, and informative and made us feel very much at ease. So we bit the bullet and rented a 40 footer! WOW! I can't even put into words what a phenomenal trip we had. Pictures and memories that will last a lifetime. At the whole experience couldn't have been easier. Jeffrey even gave me his private cell phone number in case we had any questions. And I had to use it a couple of times when I ran into some questions at a campground on a Saturday morning. The problem even ended up being with the campground, but Jeffrey's expertise, and willingness to help me, helped me get everything cleared up in a matter of minutes. Sad Note: We travelled over 1500 miles without incident... and then I made a bone-head mistake while going to refill with fuel for the final time after returning home. I actually scraped a concrete barrier and caused some pretty significant paint damage. I was horrified. Not only at the damage to the vehicle, but to what I was sure would be an unbelievable expense, and the fear of telling Jeffrey. Once again, Jeffrey handled things like a pro. He was incredibly empathetic and helped relax me. Then he shopped around for 3 quotes and got the lowest possible repair cost. Yes, I had to pay for it (after all it was my fault), but Jeffrey saved me hundreds of dollars, and got it handled quickly and professionally. He didn't embarrass me, make me feel stupid or get angry... just showed me once again, that American Adventures RV Rentals is extremely professional and the one and only place I would ever consider for renting an RV. I went to pick up the RV and they underpaid us and I am spending thousands on repairs. The RV went there brand new and left after three years with much to be desired. Expect everything! They did repairs I did not know about that were rigged only to break again. The coffee maker was gone, the slide broken, missing Jack, missing lights, missing trash can and cover, missing sink cover, the table torn up etc. DONT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! I could go on and on. RV OWNERS PROGRAM BEWARE ----------Jen Suarez (GOOGLE REVIEW), Fully agree with your overview of the owner program with AARVS, as I too had a unit with them for approximately one year that I terminated due to similar issues you had as well. During this period, my unit was broken into while on property and tv stolen. Property was supposed be under video security surveillance 24-7, but was "not working" during the time of the break-in. Really wasn't a break-in as RV window was not properly locked by AARVS. They replaced the TV with an inferior TV and has since been replaced due to faulty equipment. Roof was damaged during a rental and I was not notified of the damages that occurred and "redneck" repairs were made without my knowledge. Had workmanship inspected by two reputable rv inspectors at my cost. Both advised that the roof repair was not done properly and based on the amount of patches/damages done to the roof, it should have been fully replaced. Unit also incurred body damage during one rental and was partially repaired and painted on property using substandard repair processes. AARVS also implies that your investment will have the required proper maintenance completed, such as oil changes (engine and generator, etc.). During one rental alone, the generator was ran over 400 continuous hours with only a single oil change around the 100 hour mark. I entered the agreement with the full understanding that damages may occur. AARVS was not forthcoming on how repairs would be handled, quality of work performed as well as completing the timely maintenance and general upkeep of my RV. Found myself making regular visual inspections on my RV and in most cases completed most of the general maintenance myself. Net results, I terminated my agreement early, cut my losses and spent the needed time to bring all damages and equipment up to professional standards ------- at my expense! The 50/50 rental fee split + cost of insurance + repairs to maintain your RV makes this a losing financial decision. without a doubt! Beware of renting from this place. As other reviewers have said, they only care about money. Secondary to safety or comfort. First - on the drive to our campsite in N. Texas, we hit a bump on the highway and the trailer came off the hitch! They hooked it up when we rented, and I strongly suspect it was not secured properly. Thank god it jammed against the truck and it didn't go flying away. Mild damage to the trailer, and some scratching of my new truck. They tout their emergency line - call with any problems! Called from the side of the road, "Karen stepped out for a couple minutes". Never called back. After an hour I walked to a hardware store, repaired what I could, and went to the campsite. I repeat - the trailer came off the hitch, and that wasn't worth a returned call. This was our first time renting a trailer. We thought it was a good idea to rent brand new. Big mistake. They apparently never audited the build quality, and as a result so many big things were broken! Broken thermostat prevented propane heater from working. Ceiling electric heater never worked. 25 degree nights - we froze. Second day I figured out how to 'hot-wire' the thermostat, so we had heat. Too much heat. Spent the night getting up to connect and disconnect the hot-wire. More minor issues, but still points to lousy service - told me the hot water heater was ready to go. Never showed me how to light it. Got to campsite - no hot water. Other campers figured out the propane cans were turned off. Black tank gauge never worked - always read full. Not great for inexperienced campers. Frozen water most mornings, and they had never shown me how to fill the under-bed water. That would have been handy! End of trip, as we returned the camper, they just said - oh well, new trailer build quality is down these days. They are now saying we owe for all damages. So much for the Insurance we bought from them. No indication or proof of repair costs. I'm asking what compensation for us on the poor experience. Their answer - to start accusing me of not emptying the black tank, which of course we did. Now going on two months later and they do not return phone calls - I guess they are keeping all of my $750 deposit, again with no proof of repair costs and no "meeting me half way". Jeffrey was great...right up until we had an issue. Then customer service went out the window. What a shame. I talked Jeffrey up to friends and neighbors because he was so helpful and responsive during everything pre-rental. Once on the road, we realized the RV floor was filthy, sink was leaking into the cabinet, screws from the door fell onto the floor, neither DVD player worked, and the satellite didn't work. To top it off, the gray water pipe was not connected under the RV and water just dumped onto the ground...easy enough to push the pipes together but it continued to leak. I called Jeffrey because the AC stopped...he resolved this for me. But then I had the nerve to mention the broken DVD players. Jeffrey accused me of laughing at him when he said they couldn't both be broken, and he was clearly irritated that I expressed this as an issue. He said just go buy another one, and said this nor the satellite were a big deal. I agree that tv isn't the biggest thing, unless you have two small kids who are riding in an RV for 8 hour days and the unit is advertised as having "in-motion satellite." I called with other questions twice more on my 10 day trip, but Jeffrey did not answer or return my calls. At return, I asked Jeffrey if I could tell him about the things not working in the RV. He listened for all of 30 seconds before saying the RV is fine and literally storming inside. I wasn't looking for money back or anything else...an apology would do. Instead he told me I was complaining about nothing. Wow...I was sure this was a place that would deliver a great customer service experience. Clearly the good service stops when Jeffrey feels insulted. I would have given AARV five stars if Jeffrey had simply been responsive. Excellent experience. I was a little concerned as well reading some of the earlier posts but decided to check these guys out. It was our 2nd rv rental but first with a class A vehicle. The staff was very helpful and friendly in answering my hundreds of questions. I also came by several times to look at the different units before deciding on the one that fit our needs and timeline. The units are clean and completely decked out with features and amenities. Also everything worked on our rv and we were well versed on how to use everything when we were on our own. Also AARV was there to answer any questions when we were on the road. When we returned our unit we didn't feel like we had the microscope treatment. It was more like we rented from a friend and only repaired any damage that we had done. I was a little hesitant about writing a good review because its like telling people about a good fishing spot. I don't want too many others renting but I'm sure AARV can handle the business. If you want a quality rv which is clean and works well rent from these guys. If you want to rent an RV from a group that truly wants to make your vacation worry free then you must consider American Adventure RV Rentals. I rented from them for the first time because my normal rental group was booked up. I was able to secure a last minute rental on a class A. The coach was perfect inside and out. I showed up taking pictures of every little detail. Amused but approving the owner told me to feel free but not to worry. They were not the type to worry about things that happen sometimes that are incidental. I immediately felt relaxed and when I returned the coach I was reassured this to be true. Unlike many other places, the search glass comes out when you return but is left out when you pick up. Not here! These guys know their fleet because they use them. They understand the condition and if you are honest they love your business and want you to return. Trust me they do not make as much money on paying for repairs as they do on renting so why run off good customers over making things up? Some other rental companies in the area seem to hedge the profits by claiming the same damage multiple times with each renter, but not at Jeff's' place. All the staff asks is to treat the coach with respect and care while you use it. Return it in the same condition (excellent) as you received it. Service - wow - the thing that stands out the most is that Rob asked me for feedback on what he could do to make the next customer happy. I was taken back; he cares so much for his business that during my check-in of the class A Rob asked me on any improvements he could do to improve the experience of his future customers. This is why my experience was so wonderful - he has asked all of his past customers what he could do to improve my experience long before I ever arrived. Do not cut corners, fill up the tank to the rented level, if you hit something - let them know and be honest. The NEW owner cares more about money than the safety or satisfaction of customers. We rented multiple times from the previous owner and always had a great experience. So when we decided to rent a trailer RV for a family camping trip, we came back to American RV expecting another good experience. But instead of that, it became a lesson in buyer beware. Apparently the new company policy is to REMOVE spare tires and tire tools from all their RVs for "liability" purposes. What makes this worse is that they NEVER INFORMED US at any point in the initial checkout or walk-around process that the spare was removed. Had they pointed out that there was no spare provided I would have considered buying "trip insurance". So imagine my head-scratching surprise when we had a blowout on a Sunday afternoon by Lake Brownwood and couldn't find the spare or tire tools. I happened to have one of the cell numbers of an employee from American RV. I called him and he connected me with the operations manager (not the owner). He said I would need to go to a tire shop, buy a new tire, come back to the RV and put in on. Ummm... the only problem with that is that they also removed the tire tools, jack etc. So I would also need to find a service to actually replace the tire with a spare I purchase. We also called our insurance, USAA, for assistance. Neither USAA, nor the operations manager (who was also looking for tire places to help) found any business open on that Sunday afternoon that could assist us. So we were effectively stranded on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. I called the operations manager back and said I was going to unhitch from the RV and drive back my truck back to Austin. He volunteered to come get the RV trailer and pull it back to Austin. He said they would have to charge me for the cost of the tire because I opted out of tire insurance. I totally agreed with paying that cost. The operations manager was very helpful and cool. He said the owner would call me to discuss at a later time - she NEVER called. A few weeks later, I am shocked to find a $750 RECURRING charge on my credit card from them. I called them multiple times, leaving messages for Karin, the owner, to please call me back to discuss. Again, she never returned my call. The last time I called she happened to be the one answering the phone so she was forced to speak with me. She said that she was charging me for multiple costs associated with having to retrieve the RV trailer. I said that I can change a tire in a few minutes and if they would have left the spare tire on the RV, I would have never been stranded. But in the spirit of cooperation and reasonableness, I agreed to pay part of the cost if she would email me the line items of expense backing up the charge. Of course, she never emailed me anything and left the charges on my card. And she never responded to multiple emails asking about the charge details. Her approach is to sneak charges onto the credit card and then avoid her customer, hoping I'll go away. My advice is to stay away from this place. The employees are nice and helpful, but the owner is greedy, unprofessional and cold. read more

It saddens me to give American Adventure RV 2 stars, because it was completely in their power to have made this experience better, and being in a business which relies heavily on consumer reviews (i read them myself before choosing American Adventure) I know how hurtful these can be but unfortunately they earned it. The entire process was not without hiccups but most of the problems came at the end. First off they sent me a quote for an RV that they did not have available despite the fact that they ask for travel dates. When I arrived in person to see the RV (that looked perfect in pictures and is another reason I chose them, it was the bunkman) they informed me that a "glitch" in the system caused a quote on a unit that was not available during my travel dates. The choice that they had available (jayco) wasn't as nice or as convenient for the party I had traveling with me but it was good enough, I wouldn't have knocked them for that. On the day of pickup we met with Wayne and he began taking us through the orientation process. Pretty cut and dry we noticed a few scuffs on the sides of the vehicle but he assured us that he would notate it but "would never charge you for something like that anyway!" I honestly feel like he lulled us into a false sense of security and is something that I highly recommend you beware of if you rent here. He started breezing through more of the walk around; a shower door had a broken knob and again "would never charge you for something like that anyway!" kind of response. The next irritant was with the insurance, they had sent me the paperwork I needed to get cleared with my insurance, I confirmed with my insurance that I was indeed covered and sent them back an email that confirmed that about a week and a half before the travel date. Turns out I didn't send them exactly what they needed but they didn't inform me of that until it was pickup day so guess what, had to buy their stuff. The Jayco handled great, was clean and despite being a little beat up a very nice RV, but after we had left the lot and went home to pack, we noticed that the luggage compartment did not have a proper key. It would lock the compartment but not open it. Again a minor irritant but a little unsettling to have to travel without being able to secure the luggage. Wayne was available via phone when we needed him which was only once when there was a hiccup with the generator, so for that they merit the second star. The problems really began upon return. During orientation Wayne showed us a panel that covered components for the water heater which he instructed us not to touch, since we would not need anything that was in there. That panel flew off during travel something that I had the feeling we would have to pay for but since we where told not to touch it we told him it was possible that it wasn't correctly closed (it flew off the first day). This is when the BS began, as Wayne told us that there was a "fingerprint" on the latch that would indicate that we had messed with it (not sure when he busted out the forensics kit to determine it was our fingerprint and not his). Now if there is one thing that I will not tolerate is having myself or anyone in my family being called a liar, we paid them over 2k for a week's rental so we are not destitute, I can pay for his panel, I will not accept being called a liar. The next thing was that the glass plate in the microwave was missing an replaced with a paper plate. We never checked inside it during orientation and since we have never traveled in an RV before assumed that glass plates don't come in RV microwaves for safety. Wayne told us that our story "didn't add up" like we were lying about the plate, broken it and where playing stupid! Again don't like being called a liar and he then proceeded to charge us $120 for the plate, something that I have found online for $20. The last thing you have to know about us is that we are the kind of people that are ultra careful with our property, and much so with property that is not ours. We returned that RV in WAY better condition than when we got it and I am certain that had he been able to dock us for anything else (like the scratches our shower door or other little things that we made him notate early on) he would have. Renters beware, it's all rainbows and butterflies when you are picking up the RV but I get the sense that they charge people over and over again for the same things (I am positive they knew that thing didn't the microwave plate and will try and get the next guy on it to). Go over those things with a fine tooth comb and force them to write it down, they have no hesitation to put it on you and flat out call what could be repeat customers liars. read more

Wish we looked here before renting from this place. Jeff seemed like a decent person- made us over-the-top promises for the smaller RV he had to issue us because the other 2 were broken down. GET EVERYTHING HE PROMISES IN WRITING- INCLUDING ALL THE SCRATCHES AND DAMAGE on the RV that he says "not to worry about," because if you ask him to come through on his promises when you return from your trip, he denies, denies, denies making any promises, and then threatens to put all those damage claims on your insurance, if you don't go away. This is one of the most underhanded, two-faced, sneaky people I have ever had to deal with- and I'm from Chicago! I know the lure of unlimited milage and generator is appealing- but not worth this amount of grief and betrayal. Like someone else wrote- RENTERS BEWARE!!! read more

Renters Beware!!!!!!!!!! Update: Received a check from AAR this morning for the balance of the hitch ($25). Have upgraded my rating to 2 but don't feel I can go higher due to Jeffrey's "guardrail to guardrail" personality. Just returned from a weeks vacation in Arkansas. Rented a trailer from Jeffrey (American Adventure RV - Thought the adventure was in the vacation....not renting the trailer!!) Short story: Showed up Friday afternoon to pick the trailer up. Jim couldn't find the hitch that went with the trailer. Searched for 30-40 minutes and then told me his ONLY option was to refund my money. This after we had non-refundable reservations at various locations throughout Arkansas. I told him that wasn't an option and that he needed to find the hitch or buy a new one. He didn't know were to find a new one so I recommended he check with RV Outlet in Georgetown. He called, it was in stock, it was 4:45 pm and they closed at 5:30. Jim tells me he as an appt that he needs to keep and if I was willing to go pick up the hitch myself he would give me $300 to go buy it. $300 didn't cover the cost so I picked up the difference. Had to go back home, assemble the hitch/spring bars so I could go pick up the trailer. Like so many others....Jeffrey was the nicest guy you will ever meet on the front end taking your deposit and having you sign the contract. Don't expect ANY support after that!! Sounds like I was lucky to have Jim and not Jeffrey. After reading other reviews I'm pretty sure Jeffrey WOULDN'T have agreed to buy a new one. Long story: Message sent to Jeffrey: *Arrived shortly after 3pm on the 13th. Jim handed me a lengthy contract that needed reviewing and initialed. Spent ~30 minutes on this. Did the walk around noting any damage to the unit. Broken ladder required us to find other means of packing excess items. Both front stabilizer jacks bent, one side so badly we couldn't use. *4 pm Jim noted that he was having trouble finding the hitch. We spent the next 25-30 minutes looking through garage and storeroom. We both tried to call/text you with no response. *4:30 pm Jim said his only option was to refund our money! This after we had been planning our summer vacation with another couple for months and had numerous reservations in place with either no refund on cancellation or with significant penalty. My response was that was unacceptable and that he should look in to buying a new hitch. His response was that he didn't know where to get one. I had to offer a couple of recommendations, one of them the RV Outlet in Georgetown. He called them confirming they had it in stock. Here's where it gets interesting! He said he had a commitment and couldn't make the trip to GT. Offered me $300 and said I could go buy it!!! *4:50 pm I'm scrambling to get to GT by 5:30 before they closed (40 miles round trip). Cost of the hitch was $299 plus tax (receipt attached). I had to pay the additional $24.70 out of my pocket. Would like reimbursement for that. *5:30 pm. Back home to read instructions on hitch assembly. *6:30 pm. Hitch assembled.....back to your place to pick up the trailer, well after the half day you agreed too. *7 pm. Begin the rest of the assembly of the hitch (spring bars to trailer). Didn't have the large wrenches to remove the existing hardware. After 2 trips to Lowes and $40 worth of wrenches I'm pretty sure I will never need again was able to remove existing HW. All this time no call from Jim to see if I was able to get the hitch and needed any help!!! *8 pm. Call to Jim to see if anyone on your team could come by to make sure I had this hitch assembled properly. *9 pm. Jason stops by to check work. This was how my Friday evening went instead of being able to pack the trailer for the early Sat departure. We get to our first location and noted the following additional issues with the trailer: *No septic hose. Jim assured me that everything was in the black tote. Only the adaptor to connect to a hose was in the bin. Had to go get a hose! Left it in the septic hose compartment. *Front stabilizer jacks bent; one unusable. Had to use my own truck jack to stabilize *Leak above kitchen area. Had a couple of rains resulting in a leak requiring a bucket to catch the water. *Awning broken. Right side bracket with 2 screws close to falling off. Slide on right side of brace bent beyond use. *No jack. Sunday morning cleaned the trailer, called you for return at 9:40 am, well before the half day on the return. I believe you would agree that this is clearly not an acceptable experience. I believe that it is fair to expect reimbursement for the $24 tax on the hitch. Would ask that you also reconsider the request to discount the rental fe read more

Not going to bore you with the details... Their customer service is the worst I've ever been a part of. Long story short; RV broke down in small town New Mexico in middle of night where my family of 9 was stranded on side of highway for 5 hours, towed to truck stop parking lot and told by AARvs that we were on our own to get home to Austin. No apologies, no nothing!!! So if you're thinking at all about RVing, by all means do it because we didn't let this ruin the experience. BUT by all means, rent from somewhere else!!! read more

DON'T RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!! Rented a 2006 Monoco Knight Rv from Jeffery super nice in the office but 2nd day into what will be my fathers last vacation we broke down in Kansas spent 3 hours first day getting oil, air & fuel filters changed only to chug down the fwy at 45-50 spent next 3 days in two more shops trying to get on our way with Jeffery sending another RV which broke down in Oklahoma THAT ONE NEVER MADE IT TO US!! So we had to skip the first Part of his trip to make it to the rest which was RUSHED - had trouble with the generator the whole trip - leveling equipment didn't work - washer was missing door - mirror was falling off - satellite tv & radio didn't work - rattled an was so out of balance the you couldn't hear the person next to you!! Soo much more not enought space. When Jeffery told me to leave the F....ing RV on the side of the road an he would come an get it -WE KNEW THEN WE HAD TO HELP OURSELF!!!!!! When I took it back he said hello and when I answered back with the things that were wrong he told me that he didn't have to listen to me because I had an attitude. GET OUT !!!!!! By the grace of GOD we finished the bucket list trip for my dad despite JEFFERY !!!!!!!! I'm posting this in hopes that I can save another family from having to go thru what my family did :/. Jeffery knew what this trip meant to my family an was so rude an disrespectful it makes me WISH I HAD READ THE OTHER REVIEWS before I rented NOT after!!!!!!! I believe this has been under new ownership in the past year or two, so don't let the older reviews scare you. They are absolutely wonderful to rent from and we had a seamless experience even though it was our first time renting and driving an rv. About a week or so before our initial booking we had to cancel; they had no issues and honored a rebooking at no extra costs. Very easy to reschedule and a good group of people to work with. read more

Up until now I always loved this place. Jeff was always glad to see me and always hooked me up with little or no notice and made me feel appreciated. Even when I once damaged the RV he fixed it free of charge! Unfortunately, if you have grown used to Jeff's no hassle neighborly approach to business and customers, you might be disappointed as he is no longer running the shop. Based on years of past experiences I would rate five stars but this most recent experience was pretty difficult. read more

Just returned from a long weekend renting a trailer to take to a family reunion in Kansas. I rented the trailer on a Wed and returned to Austin very late Sunday. I was extremely happy. Everything on the trailer worked. The process of pick up / walk through etc was straightforward. They were extremely flexible with drop off which helped me with my late arrival back in Austin. Most importantly to a person, they were helpful and available with everything I asked for and needed.....even delivered a spare tire for the trailer to my home (before I left) since we couldn't locate the spare on the trailer. Bottom line.....American Adventure RV Rentals are excellent and I highly recommend them for RV / Trailer rentals. read more

My husband and I have rented from American Adventure for the past 3 years and we plan on renting from them for as long as they'll be around. Karen and her crew are wonderful people and super helpful. When a problem with our rental came up, not only did she handle it quickly, she made sure we avoided any inconvenience. Great customers service. They have a pretty good selection of travel trailers to choose from at reasonable prices. Some new and some not so new, but very clean very beautiful units. After all, they do rent back to back so expect a little wear. Karen will make sure you're completely comfortable with your selection and she'll make sure you're set for your trip before you even drive away. Guaranteed. My family and I had a wonderful experience with Jeff, Karen and American Adventure Rentals. We rented a 35', C class, bunkhouse coachman RV and had a wonderful trip to Arches National Park in Utah. We picked the RV up on a Friday and Jeff provided a thorough orientation. I was running late for the orientation and I felt horrible but he did not complain. The RV worked wonderfully. We had one hiccup with a battery that seemed to lose its charge quicker than it should but it was no big deal as I would just start the engine and it would charge up almost immediately. The customer service before picking up the RV was excellent and we experienced the same when dropping it off. We read a review on yelp which indicated a lack of customer service however our experience was terrific from start to finish. Thank you Jeff and Karen for a great experience. read more

Incredible customer service experience! Jeffrey always answered the phone when there were questions and had answers to keep our weekend moving along. The 28' Jay Flight travel trailer had a group of 8 sleeping well and staying cool. I highly recommend them and will be using them again next year. read more

We have rented several times from AARV (Jeffery) and keep coming back each time because they always take care of us and have great equipment compared to the other places in town. Also, they don't charge for generator time, which can save you much money when you camp off-grid ! read more

I don't know what to say. I rented an RV from American Adventure and the process was going smoothly until I had a few questions about the RV. Jeffrey went from polite and courteous, to defensive and verbally abusive. These were simple questions that every customer has the right to ask. I'm not a confrontational person and did nothing to provoke him. I have never ever been yelled at by a vendor in that way. The RV was great. Unfortunately, customer service is dismal. My advice, look elsewhere. It's not worth the risk. read more

Terrible, terrible, terrible experience using this "professional" RV company. Not only did we experience a propane leak, broken generator, and missing mattresses, but then we were COMPLETELY over charged. And to top it off, Karen was nothing but rude. Zero customer service. Luckily, I was in the best of company, and therefore, we were able to laugh about the entire excursion. read more

Great place and nice people. The showed up an hour before opening so we could pick up our RV. Had little issues with the generator but they drove our to our campsite and helped us sort out the issues. The RV was clean when we got it. We definitely would come back. read more

Wow, I wish I had found the previous review on smartpages.com before I made the mistake of renting an RV here. That review was dead on, this business is not up front. They seem very friendly and honest before they take your money for a rental but when you return beware! If you must rent with this place I suggest you use a video camera prior to leaving the lot, get the rental agreement ahead of time and ask your lawyer to look it over, and use a credit card that will allow you to dispute the inevitable bogus rental "fees". read more

We had a fabulous experience with American Adventures RV Rentals! They helped us every step of the way, and we had a fabulous trip! It cost exactly what we expected it to cost, and the RV was clean and ran great! Once or twice we had questions while we were on the road, and Jessica was quick to help us - she was so patient with all our neurotic questions! She even gave us her cell phone number so we could reach her anytime! We would absolutely use this company again - and have already recommended them to several friends. Awesome awesome awesome! We rented a RV from Jeff for $ 4000.00 for a 2 week trip to New York and Florida, and 2 hours into our trip the satellite dish fell off and hit a car. We stopped and called Jeff and he Blamed us. He did not say sorry or anything. After we started on the road, the generator went out. We called Jeff again and told him, but once again he said nothing. I contacted the man that works on the generators there and we tried to troubleshoot and it worked for 2 hours and stopped. Fred was great, but Jeff could care less. We went 4500 miles without AC or TV. We are disappointed in the customer service we had. I am in the roofing business and having good customer service is VERY important. When we dropped the RV off, Jeff was not there and the man just faked laughed at all the problems we had. We had 9 people in the RV ranging from 18 months to 66. I will never recommend them to anyone I had the WORST family vacation ever in my life. read more

We rented for a week this spring and experienced the exact same thing everyone else talks about - excellent customer service before the trip, and terrible customer service during and after the trip. We've rented RV's before and we weren't expecting luxury, but the list of things wrong with our RV goes on and on. Biggest issues were: empty propane, half-full gray water, toilet leak, sewage smell, hot water heater not hooked up properly (we had to coordinate with a mobile repair company to come fix it), half-broken slide-out, generator wouldn't start reliably, and at least ten other small issues. Our trip finished off with the slide-out breaking the rest of the way (just bad luck - not our fault at all), and that couldn't even be used the last three days of our trip. Jessica was very nice and tried to be helpful. But Jeffrey is the one calling the shots and he wouldn't even speak with us, would not refund money ($300) that we had to spend on two different mobile expenses that were NOT our fault at all (the propane refill and the slide-out repair), and he couldn't care less about you once he has your money. Would not recommend at all. Rent elsewhere. read more
