Muay thai was something I wanted to learn but was lowkey a bit afraid. This gym is very beginner…read morefriendly and everyone here makes you feel welcomed immediately. People here are very respectful and mindful of others, which is really important. There are classes Monday-Saturday. Legit the best workout ever (I've done crossfit, powerlifting, hiit, yoga, etc). It works your core, your overall strength, upper body, lower body, and also your mind. The gym helped me make become better in other things too outside the gym (eating habits, running more, etc!!) They do other activities too - beach trips, conditioning in parks, etc!!

I'm beginning to find, as I get older, that experiences that have the ability to completely…read moretransform your life become more rare. When you are young, you are constantly trying and learning new things, figuring out for yourself what you love to do and eliminating those you don't. You start to find a passion for things like soccer or piano, and stick with them, loving to play. Then you grow up, responsibilities kick in, and time becomes more limited. Most of the time, I find myself trying to recreate the fun I had as a kid by re-experiencing situations with new people or joining an adult sports league with random people, which is not at all the same feeling you get from being on a real, dedicated team. The art of Muay Thai is one of the only sports or activities that has unexpectedly thrilled me in a way that is brand new, and leaves me craving more and more. The only other sport that does it for me is scuba diving. There are some similarities between the two: family, fear facing, fitness, and fun. 1. FAMILY: When you join 8 Venoms Muay Thai, you become a family. You are there to support and help each other. You may find that if you sign up for a free trial that you become addicted in more ways than one, to the class and to the people. Your new teammates will be the ones asking if they'll see you next class, and part of the reason you say yes is because you don't want to disappoint them, and it happens in that split second after they ask the question when their face is bright with pure joy from the class and the suspense for your answer. You can't make new friends like this in a typical gym atmosphere and you sure as hell will never find the strength of a family like 8 Venoms Muay Thai. 2. FEAR FACING: "Do one thing every day that scares you." - Eleanor Roosevelt Muay Thai is a fighting sport. You will hit and get hit. 8 Venoms gets its name because Muay Thai is known as the Art of 8 Limbs: 2 fists, 2 elbows, 2 knees, and 2 shins. You will learn to use all of them. I'm a fear facer and a big believer in it. Do I get nervous? Yes. But that's the only way to get stronger. 3. FITNESS: One aspect of Muay Thai among many that you can't get from a regular gym is that it's both a mental and physical exercise. I consider myself a forever student. If I'm not constantly learning something new, I start to get bored. I never would have dreamed that discovering Muay Thai would have been the absolute best gift I could have given myself for my recent birthday (Thanks Skylar B. who turned me onto it). I have been to many gyms: oldschool average joe's gyms, giant gym chains, boxing gyms, etc. Before this class, I considered myself to be healthy, very active, and pretty athletic, but damn, did I get a wake up call. The class starts with jump roping... Who knew that jump roping could be so hard?! I thought I was going to die the first few times. My legs were sore as hell. I guess lifting just can't get you there. Then there's cardio, core, and flexibility, which is awesome. I'm not too too bad on the cardio and core front, but I def. struggle and need improvement. I honestly thought I was a flexible human until now...wooweee, not so much. I think part of the reason I have trouble doing certain skills sometimes is because my hips are not at all used to turning over in such a way while the balls of my feet do something else and my arm is outstretched at the same time. I swear, at the least, Muay Thai will keep my body from getting old and decrepit. Then there's the lessons on different Muay Thai skills and techniques: boxing, kicks, defense, etc, which is really... 4. FUN: Omg it's so much fun. Instructor Gian is extremely knowledgeable and cares about his students. His analogies and descriptions make everything really easy to understand. I partner with my sister sometimes and we have laughing fits. It's just fun to learn something new, practice it, and eventually get it right. I guess I should say it's funnier when you get it wrong and more rewarding when you get it right. I find myself even daydreaming about it, replaying skills I've learned in my head, and hoping that by thinking about it my body will react how I want it to (so far it doesn't, but I'm trying!). All skill levels are welcome. I am a giant newb right now. I hate it lol, and I'm determined to get better. There was a little kid in the class too and he could really hang with the rest of us. Then, there are also those who are really advanced. 8 Venoms is located in the FMA Center and the storefront is really deceiving. If you enter in the front, you go down the stairs and the place is huge. There's the front desk area, and a large viewing room, for anyone there who needs to wait. If you park in the back lot, you can enter that way and walk past the koi fish tank. The actual training space is very large with ample space to move around, and the 7:30 pm class times are also really convenient for me to make after work w/the option of the 1 class on Sat. Try it!

The membership is $50 a month ($57 if you include all the fees) which is so outrageous to me and that doesn't even include classes? I don't know, I was very excited by Femme being a women-only space, but I feel like they're abusing that to up-charge women for a gym I wouldn't pay more than $30-35 with their offerings. I would definitely consider returning if they lowered their prices. But compared to other gyms in the area, this just doesn't make sense financially.

For example, when I moved away, they were trying to charge me however, I had to point out to them a couple times that do the distance I was moving away as per my contract I shouldn't owe anything else. Now it would have been ideal if these were things that they were aware of and not things that I had to remind them of. But overall, I had a very positive experience here. I think if they had increased their hours or offered a more varied selection of gym classes, they could really open up anew Market here.

After a decade of being overweight since college and having tried numerous times myself, I decided to get serious and get a trainer. Within 5 months of working with Gil, I reached my goal weight and dropped 45 lbs! On top of that, strength grew tremendously. Went from getting exhausted at the thought of a pull up to doing 10 pull ups in a row with ease. Muscle definition and size has grown quite a bit and clothes fit much better now. Dropped 5 waist sizes on my pants and when from a size L/XL to a S/M. It feels good trying on slim fit clothes and they fit well. All my friend and family has been commenting on how much weight I lost and how much better I look. Highly recommend Gil and have been recommending him to everyone.

While I enjoy the gym, I needed to work with a trainer to establish routines that were effective and that would help me to meet my goals. From the time I reached out to get more information, I was extremely pleased with Gilbert's immediate response and in his attention to detail when working through my regimen with me. He is a professional who obviously cares a lot about the work he does and about his clients. I have the pleasure of working out with Trinnie. She is fantastic! I learn something from her during every single workout. She is extremely knowledgeable and shares a lot of information on nutrition and fitness. She makes excellent recommendations and has given me so many new ideas on how to frame nutrition/workouts, etc. What I first considered to be an indulgence (I've been a gym member and I've worked with trainers - I could have tried on my own) turned out to be the best investment I could have made in my health and fitness.

He gives daily 1-1 feedback on food choices that you've made throughout the day and will also help you reach your weight goal without having it feel like torture. The daily feedback is a unique system that I haven't really heard of with any other trainer. I was never able to lose weight on my own...from so many failed diets and exercise routines, it felt impossible. I was really in a slump and was not happy with my health or my eating habits. But luckily, after finding Gilbert and this gym, I've been able to lose 7 pounds so far and it's only been a little over a month! (This might not seem like a big deal but is a great feat for me as I do love my cheat meals here and there :) ) I feel a difference in my body, my fitness level, and my overall approach to eating and exercising. Not to mention, their private gym is really nice and follows great COVID measures (temperature taken at door, masks required and sanitizers available throughout) and there are never that many people. I've learned a lot of different exercises (including kickboxing even!) and feel a lot more confident at the gym and in myself. I'm so glad I made this investment for my health. Thanks for everything Gilbert and Trinny!

You need to get the facts straight first before you jump the gun on how friendly Frank was to me because that's simply NOT the case... My ID is 100% valid. Im retired like I told him several times This is what I clearly told Frank a year ago and he said that it was" no issue at all" ..So I ended up coming back to the club a year later to finally join up. He asked me for ID which I showed him, then he started to say oh didn't you come in here a year ago etc, so I said yes I did. He then tells me "oh your ID says retired you can join at the full rate" and "I told you last time that im not giving you the discount we offer ...(that's not true at all ), What he said was that it was NO ISSUE".. He started to examine my ID, hold it up to the light literally about 5 different times ,,,Not sure what that was about...I said Frank, " WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH MY ID- YOURE EXAMINING IT LIKE ITS A FAKE $100 BILL OR SOMETHING, I said is there an issue?????..and he says " OH NOTHING I WAS JUST LOOKING AT IT. He then continues to say he's not giving me the discount and he told me this last year. I said NO PROBLEM...I was leaving, asked him for my ID back, and he started taking pictures of my ID with his phone... Maybe you can clear that up for me Andrew..what was that about after I said no problem and was clearly leaving the club with my coat on. Why did he start taking pictures of My ID? I mean I could care less that you or him think my ID is not valid, I could care less about any discount, or joining your club..Thats not the point at all.. I just didn't appreciate the way I was treated..PERIOD. Its really as Simple as that..I hope this clears it up for you. My experience was not good.

Before CrossFit I did everything from a regular gym to kick boxing to spinning to a having personal trainer and I either didn't see results, got bored, or didn't develop a connection with the activity or the people. Maxability was different. On day one you are greeted with smiling faces and members going out of their way to introduce themselves and make you feel welcome. I can't stress the community enough. You will make lifelong friends and build lasting relationships that will continue outside of the gym. The coaches are incredibly well trained in every aspect of what they do and whether it's before, during, or after class they are always around helping and developing members. They will push you, but they know how to push you to your personal best, rather than holding you to a standard that doesn't make sense for you. They work with every age group, all levels of fitness, and will tailor any workout to work around an injury, condition, or limitation. The programming is so well thought out and is never monotonous. The facility is spacious, adorned with equipment, and always well maintained. I could go on forever but the point is, this box is like no other. Once you join, you will never want to leave. I don't remember ever feeling excited to workout, until I joined Maxability. I have completely transformed my thoughts and my body and I'm currently in the best shape of my life and every day I look forward to going to the gym. Maxability is unlike any other CrossFit box and I am so grateful to have found a home here.
