My nurse practitioner, Felicia, must have come straight from Heaven, such a caring and compassionate person is few and far between. We spent 2 hours together for our first meeting, and the care she coordinated for me is just AWESOME! I really never expected such caring people to be in my life. Even Rose, who answers the phone and coordinates service is a wonderful human being. You don't have to have imminent death to qualify for palliative care and I wish more people would take advantage of this. The relief I felt, knowing that Felicia was fighting for me was just plain wonderful. I would give them 100 stars if I could and I don't think I have said that about any business I have reviewed on Yelp!

There were many things I liked about this place. First of all, it's right next to Rillito river…read morepark where you can simply walk to. There is a trail and bike paths. Walking distance to Basha's too. Secondly, the room she was in was pretty sizeable, comfortable, felt like home to her, and had a separate living room. All of the RNs and caretakers were very friendly and educated us in the process, the different meds, and what to expect. Very accomodating. We wanted to limit visitors, and they had an easy solution to that as well! Of course, it's very hard to see my loved one go but they did their very best to make her and us to feel as comfortable as possible. This hospice also is one of the few hospices in Tucson to accommodate someone that needs to remain on a drip. Lucky for her. I highly recommend this place. When you go outside, it does not feel like a medical facility. The beautiful grass and landscaping, people biking and running nearby. The fresh air. She really loved it. And we were able to stay with her comfortably. Much more comfortable than the hospital. Thank you, staff, for doing all that you did for her! Forever grateful for her and our experience there.

She has suffered a terrible fall that resulted in an internal carnial bleed. The TMC ER/ICU could not save her but the Peppi's House was able to provide her some comfort. They were respectful of her and us. The staff talked to her as they performed their caring tasks of comfort. We, her family, were also provide compassion and empathy for our pending loss of a such wonderful wife, parent and friend. The anguish of our moment was made more bearable by the great staff and chaplain pesent. The loss of my wife was terrible but the Peppi's House hospice provided needed comfort to all.

Be advised that when a representative of Peppi's House tells you and your loved one that their goal…read moreis to make them comfortable, their definition of comfortable is being drugged to the point of being comatose. No matter if your loved one is writhing in agony from pain, pleading for the pain to end and/or is barely coherent, or your loved one is very much alert and coherent and is not in agonizing pain, the staff at Peppi's House will drug your loved one to the point of being completely unresponsive. My mom was one such person. She was absolutely 100% alert and as soon as she was transferred from the hospital to this hospice house and I went to visit her, she was comatose. Despite my multiple requests for them to not give her any narcotic, or even a quarter of what they were giving her, they persisted. Multiple employees stated that they were there to keep patients comfortable for as long as it takes, whether it takes two days to two weeks. I found that time line very odd and rather specific. So, there you have it folks, at Peppi's House, expect your loved one to be drugged into a coma (even if that's not what they wanted) and then with no food, or water, or any IV drip, their heart will cease to beat within 2 days to 2 weeks. I find this practice to be despicable and unethical.

Before Amedisys hospice arrived, my friend would get shipped to the hospital every time he fell,…read morewhere he was stuck while their doctors tried to convince him to accept treatment that he did not want. Amedisys had nurses on call 24/7 who could assess the situation and keep him home when it was prudent (and persuade him to get in the ambulance when that was needed). As the end approached, the nursing team visited often and helped assess his additional care requirements. The other team members--HHA, chaplain, social worker--also provided excellent care that made my friend feel comfortable and listened to. When I had a problem with communicating with the home office, it got fixed as soon as I brought it to their attention. I'd definitely recommend Amedisys Hospice Tucson for hospice care at home.
