I am documenting my experience with Depot Auto Sound in White Plains, NY for anyone considering electrical or custom installation work. The job was clearly defined before the vehicle was dropped off. A written scope and a detailed technical specification package were provided, including step by step instructions, photos, and reference examples. The expectation was straightforward execution. That did not occur. The work that was performed was inconsistent, out of sequence, and in multiple areas incorrect. A primary example was the handling of the main power run, where 2/0 cable was specified but an improper step down to 4 AWG was used instead. The firewall penetration was also left undersized with sharp edges, creating a foreseeable risk of cable damage. Equally concerning was how the vehicle was handled during the process. The shop, under Harry's direction, was aware the vehicle was scheduled for a two day window, with a return visit planned after a bumper installation to complete the remaining scope. At the time of pickup, the vehicle was not road worthy. The horn system was disconnected, and the driver side fender and wheel well liner were left disassembled. The vehicle had to remain for a third day. On the third day, after confirming pickup in advance, the vehicle was found outside in the same condition with no meaningful progress made. At that point, I began reassembling the vehicle myself in order to make it safe to drive. Assistance was only provided after escalation. There were additional unnecessary disassemblies as well. A rear fender was removed without any work being performed in that area and had to be reinstalled. The front wheel well and fender components also required reinstallation after correcting the cable routing. The only work authorized outside the primary scope was a review of horn wiring, and that was clearly stated to be at the end of the project only if time and budget allowed. That sequencing was not followed. As a result, I had to: - Remove incorrectly installed wiring - Re terminate 2/0 cable - Source and install proper glands - Correct routing and protection methods - Reassemble vehicle components that were unnecessarily removed The billing totaled $3,080 based on a claim of 18 labor hours. Based on direct observation and documented activity, that billing does not align with the work performed. The vehicle is equipped with a 3 channel parking mode camera, which documents when work was and was not taking place. That record does not support continuous billable labor across the claimed duration. Harry has pointed to experience as a justification. Experience should translate into controlled execution, adherence to scope, and accurate billing. That standard was not met here. Attempts were made to resolve this directly with him. Those efforts were not productive. The outcome is that full payment was made, and additional cost will now be incurred to have the work corrected by another shop. This experience reflects issues with execution, oversight, and billing integrity at the management level. Anyone considering similar work should take that into account. read more

I had Harry install and manage my rear dash cam wiring, but the job was poorly done. He used zip ties to attach the rear dash cam cable to the gromet where the wiring harness is located for my back lights. The cable was getting pinched when closing the hatch and under where he left the exess. He claimed it's fine for the wire to get wet--which is not correct. The work didn't meet my standards, and the job wasn't worth the $150.00 I paid. When I asked him to fix or undo it, I was told it would cost an additional $75 to undo the work and he told me my employees don't work for free which I found very disrespectful. At the end I had to go to another shop to get the dash cam wiring redone. read more

Absolutely Horrible Experience -- BEWARE! I brought in my 2024 Mercedes-Benz to have the sound system enhanced, expecting a quality upgrade. Instead, I got back a terrible setup with awful sound quality -- When I asked them to reinstall the original factory parts, I was told they threw them away without my permission. Unbelievable! This shop doesn't know what they're doing, and clearly has no respect for customer property or high-end vehicles. Do NOT trust them with your car. I would never recommend this place to anyone. *BEWARE* I originally went to him because I wanted to support a local business. HUH! Was I wrong! Do not go to this business. Find someone else. I had to sue the owner in small claims and take him to court over a Maestro miscommunication causing "Cascading Failure" to my car's electrical function over a period of 6 months. In other words, my car would not work! First the back up camera stopped working, then the heater, then the radio wouldn't shut off even when the car was off, then none of the seat adjustments, etc. Finally, I had to take the entire $2000 system OUT in order to have my car function. And the owner would NOT take back the system and refund me after all the stress I was under. Instead of working with me. He gave me some bullshit offer which was offensive. Then he refused to take responsibility!!! I spent copious hours and time preparing for 2 court dates. This was a long and arduous process with the owner, it took a judge to demand him to refund me after 2 years of back and forth with him. He should not be doing business! I own a retail business myself, I would have NEVER treated a customer like he treated me. The crazy part is that after the second time in court with witnesses who testified against him, He truly still believed that he was the victim. I Traveled an hour for Chris and Harry to troubleshoot my wolf box dash cam. Harry didn't even turn the car on before recommending me a $1000 replacement (read the reviews on the product Harry, recommended and saw nothing but bad reviews). I found out that I just need to update my wolf box SD card for it to function properly, Harry denied further assistance. Seems like store is thirsty to make a sale than actually fixing the problem. read more

As much as I would've liked to cling to my (new) pre-owned 2020 Subaru's tinted windows, I realized they were just way too dark for me. Depot Auto Sound has everything you need to pimp your ride with a car stereo, speakers and sound on N. Central Ave in White Plains. Whether you're looking for more bass with a subwoofer or you want to power up your system with an amplifier, Depot Auto Sound has you. But when hubs found out Depot Auto removes window tint, we scheduled for a Friday morning a week prior with a $100 deposit to lock in our time slot. I picked up my car and was excited to see the window tint was really gone. These folks strive to deliver good service and their yearssss of experience speaks- despite their low, low reviews. The owner was pleasant and so was the guy who finalized the payment and got the work done. Overall job was $250+, service was timely and $25 discount was applied to the remaining balance. But my only issue was that windows were left streaky with soap residue (or whatever solution they used) and weren't cleaned completely after the tint was removed. read more

I went in for a simple quote on a remote starter for my Honda CRV and if I could be completely honest it was one of the most unwelcoming experiences I've had in my life. I never get on here to make reviews but it's worth it to warn others to NOT give the store any of their business. The guy had an immense attitude and as a customer who was ready to spend their money. I was completely thrown off. Not sure if they do an actual good job with the labor (so I won't speak on that, let other reviews lead you) but there's a 0% chance I come back to find out. read more

Avoid. Strongly. Looked online for Aftermarket Parking Sensors and landed on EchoMaster.com which led me to this Shop as nearest dealer / installer. Over a phone call, referred the website where I got their contact and what I wanted - an EchoMaster System, just audible, no fancy lights in dashboard - as I had done my research and new exactly what I wanted. Took the car in to check paint reference color and pay upfront $200 ( of +-$600) for system because parts had to be ordered and painted beforehand. No issues up to here. Installation was scheduled and operated on agreed upon date. Avoid. Strongly. Why? Sensors were installed at different heights distances. ( a toddler could align these things better) when asked where the sensors from the brand I bought were, I was told I paid for a parking system not a specific brand. MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR BRAND AND REFERENCES on the deposit sheet. Curiosity , looked up these sensors installed and the retailed less than $200 delivered. Again. Avoid. Had to wait for the store owner for 1+ hour outside of the store... Didn't call me as he was supposed to, didn't pick up my calls, and didn't call me back. No courtesy to let me know when he'd come back and let me pick up my car. He just left a note on the door saying coming back at 4, but he came back at 5. One of the technicians was kind enough to call his mobile, and the owner said he'd be right back, but I still had to wait more than 30 mins outside. My car radio stopped working and I had no idea why. I went to this vendor to ask for a diagnosis. He charged me $75.00 and refused to provide a written diagnosis. Then, he told me he could fix the radio for $500. Using my gut, I walked away. He removed the radio from the dashboard and let it on the back seat of my car! I found another auto electronic business which diagnosed the problem as a problem with the antenna. It was fixed for $160. Don't go to this guy who will cheat you. read more

Had them install my front retractable license plate. Should have known to run when the younger one insinuated that I wanted that type of license plate to evade the tolls. Against my better judgment, I went ahead with the service. I paid $200 for the license plate cover. They charged me $650 (not a typo) to install the lp cover claiming they had to call the company. if you want to get scammed this is the place. last year i went in to get a simple installment of a Bluetooth screen for my car, i even bought the screen at autozone & brought it to them that day of, they said no problem 3/4 hours later they call me telling me the screen doesn't work , but they will fix it if i buy a screen from their place & i refused. and let me make this CLEAR the picture taken WASN'T while being worked on , it was after the payment and the owner telling me it was done & given to me in that way , it was my mistake by not calling the police on them right there and then, i then went to two different places after to get the wires looked at and both told me that the place i went to cut and messed with the inside of the wires , it is very unbelievable how low they would go and i still paid them the 400$ they wanted because technically they installed it even though they never put the things back where they were, i regret not calling the police. so please i beg anyone who thinks of going here to not go because it will be money wasted. read more

I hired them to re-wire my system and put in some new alpine component speakers that I bought. They managed to hook up my new component speakers with in-line crossovers to the existing old crossovers. So now I have two crossovers per side hooked up. They also wired each side differently. The passenger side has the tweeters sound passing through the woofer, instead of coming directly off the crossover. Honestly I don't know how this is supposed to be wired, but they should at least be the same. At least one of them has to be wired incorrectly since they aren't the same. I have a feeling both are wired incorrectly. When they finished the job i asked them where the old crossovers were, and Harry the owner told me that they got rid of them because I have the new alpine ones. He must not be watching his employees or he would have known that they re-used the old ones AND the new ones. They also soldered the tweeter wires and left them EXPOSED so that when the two wires touch it cancels out the signal and shuts the sound off. They also managed to KILL the power to my fog lights while rewiring the stereo. Now I have to figure out what they did so I can get the lights fixed. They also left one of the old tweeters STUCK inside the dash, and its now hanging around in my glove box because its still hooked up to one of the OLD components crossovers. Which means the tweeter output from the component is hooked up to a dead tweeter, and my new tweeter is not wired correctly. When I asked Harry about it, he said "well you only paid me to install the new stuff, not take out the old stuff". What a wonderful experience. And it only cost me $600. This place is awful Harry the owner is an absolute crook. If you call on the phone he will not give you a price on anything but instead say come on in we can talk about it. Once he has you on the store he will put on this whole good guy act " o im an honest guy im here to help you im a family man ". As soon as i left i got this weird feeling and said to myself i need to go get my car back before he does something wrong. OK so we went here for a pre insurance inspection. This whole process for those that don't know is a person takes a few digital photos of the car and the car owner fills out a questionnaire asking about the features of the automobile. The place then emails all this to the insurance company and is paid by said insurance company. The process literally takes 10 minutes maximum. So we call and ask if we need an appointment. We are told not at all, just come in and it will be done anytime. We run over to get this process taken care of and are told its a 90 minute wait. Really? Why wasn't I told that on the phone? Or even allowed to make an appointment? In my opinion that is awful customer service. I may not be paying you, but my insurance is. 90 minutes is a long time to wait, we had a ton of stuff to do. We ended up leaving and finding a Getty station that does the same thing. Result: in and out in 10 minutes. read more

I'm sure their line of work can be frustrating, but for someone who has been going to Depot for almost three years, I can attest to their commitment to customer service. I was required to go to Harry on a monthly basis because I had made a terrible choice and drive drunk. Harry installed my interlock device and contracted with the company to service it for me on a monthly basis. Is technician cracked the front of my dashboard and I didn't notice it until months later when I was scraping off my old registration. I didn't even address this with Harry because I was already embroiled with another issue involving one of his employees damaging my truck. His employee locked himself out of my truck and without my permission proceeded to use a coat hanger to try to unlock the door and in the process ripped the weather stripping shipped the paint all the way up and down the door scratched the outside and the inside of the door and caused hundreds of dollars worth of damage. Not only did the employee not apologize oh, but the office manager actually had the audacity to attack me after it happened because I was complaining to a friend on the phone about the kid who damaged my car. It turns out the "kid" was her son and she went ballistic and I was absolutely appalled at the way these people handled the situation. But wait it gets better! Harry look at the damage and assured me that his body guy could make it right which put me at ease immediately. I mentioned to Harry that I also had some Rust on my rear quarter panels and he said this guy is great maybe he could take care of that at the same time. I foolishly agreed, not knowing that these two guys obviously we're pretty tight and had probably pulled stuff like this before anyway this will take forever let me speed it up the body shop ripped me off had my truck for 10 days and never even properly repaired the door let alone the quarter panels. I brought the body shop to small claims court and won the decision. I then went back to Harry and demanded he fix the door properly. And he said will bring it back to his pal at The Body Shop. I said absolutely not and proceeded to get a couple of estimates for the repairs and actually presented Harry with the lower one. He didn't respond for a week or two and then finally said in no way was he going to pay for that. Harry then proceeded to tell me that he was going to counter sue me, for what I have absolutely no idea. But continued to make hollow threats about frivolous lawsuits. He made some ridiculous Claim about me double-dipping because I had gotten a judgement for being ripped off for the body work of my suit with the body shop had nothing to do with the work that Harry was responsible for but I suspect they rolled his work into the cost of my work. That's where I feel like a dope for trusting him. Anyway, I filed a small claim against and at my own expense had the device removed from my car and went to another provider to get away from Harry because I have three more years left on my contract. Total cost me 250 just to get away from him and I probably never will recover the money from the damage he did to my truck. Harry lies, he is unscrupulous and not to be trusted. Run as far and as fast as you can from this man. I can't wait to see what he is going to say in his reply but I can assure you it's all BS. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would out of disappointment and the owner's being a dishonest, complete rip off. I visited this storefront for an alarm system on my truck. Harry appeared to be a nice, honest and knowledgeable guy upon meeting him. I couldn't have been more WRONG about him. I say that because I came to find out shortly after he completed the job that the alarm system he sold me and installed should have been HALF the price of what he charged $3-400 as opposed to the $1000 he charged me. I wanted an estimate to install something so I made an appointment over the phone (person was very brusque over the phone but I figured as long as they can get the job done, who cares) Walked in the store at the appointed time and just ended up waiting with another customer. We were both ignored while the girl behind the counter who looked like snooki was servicing another customer. The entire time while the other person and I were waiting - we had to inhale the nasty fumes in the store (the entire store reeked of strong exhaust fumes because their garage is right behind the counter door). Anyway, the estimate he gave me was ludicrous - He claimed it would take him 2 hours of labor. What a waste of my time. One star because "Tint Master" gave me the wrong information, denied he made a mistake - and correcting his mistake was not an option because he already completed the work. I will need to take car to someone else to remove and replace tint. Moral: Don't trust this company to be SME (subject matter experts). I wanted to have my new DashCam(Thinkware F800 Pro 2CH both rear and front) hardwired to my 2015 Durango. I called around and as soon as Harry answered the phone i just knew Depot Audio was the place for me....All the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I brought the car/camera by and Harry looked it all over and gave me an estimate and i brought the car in the next morning@9a and within a few hrs and at a very reasonable price both the front/rear camera was in with all the wires completely concealed and my car was left clean and no evidence at all anything was done. I have used them several times over the last 20 years and their work is always first class. The big chain stores might have cheaper products but they are not close to the quality you get at Depot. Trusted the reviews and decided to take my vehicle in for a "free" inspection of the alarm. Wasn't even there for 2 minutes and they removed a broken hood pin and told me it would be $50.00 plus tax. had a great experience with the owner as well as the coworkers who installed an auto start for my mother in law and some PIAA lights in my jeep. They were patient with my mother in law, took the time to walk her through all the features and then set me up with my lights. All in took two hours, ahead of schedule. Only complaint and it has nothing to do with this shop is that the PIAA light bulbs are not worth it. I see no difference at all between the stock Jeep lights... I bought an auto start system about a year ago. one of the fobs stopped working so I brought it in to get it fixed, thinking it was just a battery. turns out it was something else, but instead of try to figure out a solution or offer suggestions the owner of the place just said "this company is out of business and it's really hard to get this fixed. It's going to take a long time". I looked the company myself and found out they are doing quite well and got the number of their distribution center. When I went back to the store and gave the guy this information he was clearly pissed off and started talking very condescendingly towards me. When I told him an attitude was not necessary and that I just wanted him to fix the product I paid $500 for he said he didn't want my business and kicked me out of his store. One of his employees installed for me (all he had to do was peel off the sticker and place it in my car which I could have done). Well I checked the prices on Amazon and at Best Buy which are across the street they cost $15 maximum. So I was ripped off big time. Shame on the owner. read more

This place screwed up my radio. I went in because I bought a new car and wanted to get my stereo right. They had a couple of young guys do a patchwork job on the install by taking every shortcut to put it together. On top of that, the owner was rushing them and other customers because of a family gathering. Are you for real?? Do not go here unless you have no other choice.
