My wife bought new boots, not at this store, and had problems with the fit. Brent bent over backwards to help her out and after several adjustments over multiple visits they now fit her perfectly. He is one of those boot fitting geniuses, that the Tahoe area needs. I have talked to him multiple times about skis and bindings and he really knows his stuff. If you need any help with ski equipment, or skiing, he is also a youth team coach, Brent is your man. Blue zone is lucky to have him.

After moving to Genoa in late 2020, it took awhile to direct my attention to skiing in general and Heavenly in particular. That happened through a combination of conversations with friends, a good deal on an EPIC Tahoe Value Pass, and realizing that it was about 20 minutes from the House to Heavenly's Boulder Lodge Parking. As far as the Skis, bindings, and boots went, I opted for a season-long rental package through BlueZone Sports in Carson City. I had to buy the poles separately and I already had Helmet, Goggles, and Ski Bib in hand. I ended up with Fischer RC Fire (165) skis with RS9 bindings, and Dalbello Vantage 4F Boots. Looking back on the season, I think that was a good combination, lacking any frame of reference to what might have been better. I went out to Heavenly 8 times during the season, which wasn't a lot, but was a good start, largely on groomed Blue slopes. I'll definitely be out next year and probably with purchased equipment. The BlueZone Sports shop at Lake Tahoe has a Labor Day sale for previous model skis and demos, so we'll see what happens. I was happy with the service that BlueZone provided at both the beginning and end of the ski season. I particularly appreciated the patience shown to this "old guy" as he initially ventured forth and then finished up with a great deal of Alpine satisfaction.

I lack a nose bridge and so sunglasses tend to rest on my cheeks. I decided that I spent too much to have a pair of sunglasses that I couldn't wear and stopped by the location at the Summit Mall on my way home from work. I went on a Wednesday afternoon and met Carson, the salesman on duty. Carson was not only helpful, but also called his boss to see what sunglasses fit her face, as she is Korean as well. I was there for over an hour and literally tried on every pair of sunglasses there. Once we found a pair that was cute and actually comfortable, there were a few tweaks that needed to be done. Since this pair was a wire frame avaitor style, by Tory Burch, Carson was able to adjust the nose piece, and heat up the temple tips to straighten them out. Carson refunded the difference between the two purchases, cleaned the new pair and reminded me of the warranty. While the new pair isn't as stylish as my beloved Burberry, they fit my face and are extremely comfortable. I commend Carson for his great customer service and his patience in working with an overly picky customer who lacks a nose bridge.

The office is excellently organized, and the staff is both attentive and highly qualified. Everything runs smoothly, everyone knows exactly what to do, and the entire operation is truly professional. Dr. Raymond Ruckman is absolutely amazing. He is highly knowledgeable, checked everything thoroughly, and took his time explaining the results. Even though I only came in for a routine prescription, Dr. Ruckman dedicated a significant amount of time to my care and caught an underlying issue that needed addressing. His assistants were also outstanding and incredibly supportive throughout the process. As a bonus, their frame selection is fantastic--they carry unique styles I couldn't find elsewhere (though, to be fair, Deputy Optic has a great selection too). Staff was very helpful and customer focused.. Prices are a lot less than going with a regular optometrist..

I was greeted by Tatiana at the reception desk with forms I needed to fill out. I was promptly taken to the exam room where a few preliminary exams were executed very professionally and with care for sanitation. I was then guided to another exam room where Dr. Lori Steyn conducted my eye exam. She and her assistant took such good care of me. Everything was thoroughly explained, and re-explained when I didn't understand what was being discussed. One of my initial exams came up a little funny, and was promptly done again to ensure there were indeed no issues. Completely thorough, fully profession, extremely personable.
