This Dr. office. is 'most unprofessional office I have ever experienced . I have been having reoccurring issues regarding staff and office management being unprofessional. Today was another issue. First time I walk in with my sick child and was turned away due to Children's mother told staff and management not to care for my child and couldn't be seen. They stated mom said there was a court order that said only she can bring out children which there is no such order . My child had to be seen in ER I don't know any Dr office who turns a sick child away due to mothers false information without any proof of documentation. If you don't want to be lied to and be treated in a very unprofessional manner stay away from this place. read more

Dr Wu was recommended by a friend 5 years ago and my kids have gone here ever since. Dr Wu really listens to our concerns and needs. My kids don't always love going to the dr but they really enjoy seeing Dr. Wu. The front office staff is always helpful with appts and reminders. read more

I would like to share our experience, hoping other families will find it helpful. We have been treated unethically and unprofessionally by Wu Pediatrics. As clearly stated by our insurance PPO Silver plan; all preventative services should be covered in full by our family plan. Wu Pediatrics threatened to send our medical bills to collections and neglected to inform, that all charges were for preventative services. As per their demand, we have paid requested amounts in full. Only to find out later same day that we should not have been charged at all. When we requested for the refund to be issued they refused. Being fully aware they charged us unlawfully, they would not refund us before all claims would be reprocessed. Finally, 30+ days later when all claims got reprocessed and came with Zero Patient responsibility owed ... they still attempt to deny us our refund. After I pressed for it, insisting that they have no legal basis to deny us the refund, they agreed. In the same email, they have notified us that they will no longer service our family and we better look for another Pediatrician. (see copies) Parents, be aware of their practices. They are counting on you not being aware what your insurance plan cover, and often will charge you twice, asking you to pay deductible in the office and later also billing your insurance company. Note, 95% of all medical insurance plans do cover in full your kid's preventative services. If you are presented with the bill balance, before you pay be sure to call your insurance and confirm the amount owed. It is likely, you will not have to pay anything. Horrible front desk staff and not the best doctors. The customer service at the front desk is rude and unprofessional. Making an appointment with them is always like fighting. It's like they don't want you to come in. The doctors are mediocre. Derek Wu uses his name on the door but he is never there. The clinic focuses on volume and not service. The whole place feels like it only serves to make money for the doctors and not for the care of its patients. If you want genuine care for your baby, this is not the place. read more

I was referred to the Doctor by a friend of my sisters, my sister and I both take our children to Dr Wu he is a great doctor but his front staff is not very attentive and they are very rude over the phone. My son who has sever ADHD and is very forgetful needed his physical signed mind you he had his physical done a month prior but forgot to get his paper signed a staff member by the name of Jenny Mac was rude very sarcastic and when I expressed how important it was my son needed the document she said well I don't know what to tell u I asked for her superior and she refused to pass her superior on the phone. The staff is lazy and only treat their own kind with respect and understand. Not to sound like that person, but I work in healthcare, & when I changed jobs, my insurance changed and I was sad to switch pediatrician for my son. But to my surprise, Dr Wu and his medical staff were really great. Front desk was always friendly, scheduling appointments was easy and convenient, no wait time for appointments, office is clean, and the doctors/midlevel providers are very knowledgeable and answer questions. read more

My 2 kids had been patients of Dr Hamdan for many years. When his practice transition to Dr Wu we continued with Dr Wu as their primary pediatrician. When my insurance went through changes. The new changes required providers to sign up to be providers again through them. Dr Wu chose not to this. It would have been nice if I had been called or sent a short letter that stated that Dr Wu would not be seeing my children anymore. I only found out that they no longer had a pediatrician when I called to make an appointment for them. Very unprofessional on the office. First of all: the Office is clean, no wait time, plenty of parking! Dr Derek Wu and his staffs are very friendly, and informative. He has a Nurse Practitioner student see my little girl first, she is very nice and knowledgeable, then Dr Wu come in after and double checked her diagnosis. I should say it's the best experience for us to visit the pediatrician. Both Doctor and nurse are very nice and professional, they can speak Chinese as well, it makes us feel more comfortable. The environment is pretty good so the baby doesn't get nervous. I had transferred my daughter to Dr. Derek Wu after my son's first visit. Highly recommend to other parents! It's much better than going to Monterey Park for other pediatrician as it's always very crowded there. read more

Dr WU is the best!!! We bring our 2 kids to for their physical. About 1.5 years ago, we transferred from a Pasadena pediatrician because the long travel was getting hard with the school schedule. The office is on temple city and easily accessible the office hours is good and it is never hard to get an appointment. Dr wu has always been efficient straight to the point with us. I think it is mainly because i like to keep it short and sweet. But i so have another set of friends who are first time parents, from what i gather from them, he does the TLC type of visit well too. Hahahah I think he had issues with Cigna insurance which is what i started out with him. My daughter's routine preventative visit was $200+ . I happily paid it as it is still my responsibility to verify he was in-network. But i moved to blue cross and there has not been an issue. read more

The clinic looks fine. The staffs are okay. But the doctor is lack of empathy!!! I brought my newborn daughter to the clinic for a vaccine shot. Unfortunately, doctor Wu was not there. The substitute doctor was very rude and careless. First, when he was checking her reflexes, he directly put her face down onto the examine bed. Then, while he was examining my daughter, she peed on the examine bed (which is common since she is an infant.) and got wet all over her body and clothes. My daughter was shaking because she was naked and wet! As my husband and I were busy in changing her diaper and clothes, the doctor said, "Who cares? Pay attention!" I don't understand how can a doctor say something like that in this situation. I know the doctor is a substitute, (I'm not sure if he substitutes regularly.) and what happened to me may not happen to other people. But considering how the doctor treated my daughter, I would not recommend Dr. Wu's clinic. read more

This office needs to get a new medical biller and/or scheduler. I'll preface this review with a note that I have 3 kids and I recently moved to the area. For my second kid I took him to 3 other doctors in the San Gabriel Valley area, none of which I was happy with. For my 3rd kid I tried out another Dr (I wasn't impressed with his office staff either, so I asked for more recommendations). So I have experience with 4 other pediatricians in the SGV. This office is my 5th trial in the SGV. I have Anthem PPO. When I first called this office, the receptionist refused to give me an appointment because their office has had medical billing issues with Anthem in the past so they do not want Anthem patients. Dr Wu is IN-NETWORK (I verified on the website AND called Anthem). When I told the receptionist there shouldn't be a problem since he's in-network--she said it doesn't matter and it's just their policy to not accept patients with Anthem (HMO or PPO) insurance. The next day I called again. Fortunately, someone else answered the phone and asked the doctor if he would be willing to see my kid. The dr agreed. But the day of our appointment--Dr Wu wasn't there. It was his backup dr. He was fine. Pretty old school and handled our kid pretty roughly (but I guess it helped show us kids are pretty resilient???). If this dr handled my first child this way--I wouldve freaked out! But alas, this is my 3rd kid so it was interesting to see the doctor put him through such rigorous reflex testing. However, I brought my kid to this practice to see Dr. Wu. I think it was unprofessional that the office staff didn't call me ahead of time to confirm that I would want my son to see the backup doctor (my other doctors offices always call me ahead of time in case I want to reschedule or if I'm fine seeing the backup). The backup dr was fine, but I would have appreciated a heads up. When I called to schedule my son's 2 month old well visit-- the lady told me that my son was there last month and insurance wouldn't cover another well visit. So I told her that 1) I have always had PPO 2) Insurance completely covered the 2 month check ups for my other 2 kids when I took them to our other pediatrician so this shouldn't be a problem and 3) I want my baby to get his 2 month vaccinations (to stay on schedule). She said she'd schedule us when he turns 3 months and he can get the shots then. I again requested an appointment for a 2 month well visit and she said she can't, she'd only schedule me for the next month. WTF???? So I called my insurance company and they confirmed that all well visits are covered (a copay shouldn't be charged) as long as the dr office is billing correctly. The csr also pointed out that Dr Wu's medical biller completed the forms a bit unconventionally because they used extremely specific codes (maybe that's why this office has had issues in the past?). On a side note: insurance doesn't limit well visits--they do care about the kids and don't want cost to be the main reason for not taking your kids in to see the dr to verify they are growing and developing well. So I called Dr Wu's Office again. Same person denying my request and I asked why my insurance is a problem. Shouldn't the child's health be the concern? She transferred me to someone else and they finally gave me an appointment for the following week. I recommend this office send their medical billing department through a new training course or fire them for not knowing how to do their job. It's not as if this is the best dr in LA County... but the hoops I've had to jump through to take my kid here has been ridiculous. I understand that they might be trying to protect their patients from insane medical bills... but if Anthem PPO 100% covers well visits--then what's the problem? This doctor isn't worth the headache of dealing with their medical biller or scheduler. read more

I Love Dr. Wu! He is very straight forward to the point but I like that. He is always very thorough when it comes to preventive care and ruling out possibilities that progress quickly to avoid later saying "Wish we would have tested for that first". He gives his cell number out and answers texts immediately- its like having a doctor on call. He really cares about his patients and I changed insurances so I could keep him in our family. We've moved 25 minutes away and have stayed with him. Staff is very friendly and helpful as well. read more

I took my son for his 2 month physical exam and when doctor Dr.Hamdan examined my son he peed in the examining bed as he was naked, the bed got all wet and then Dr.Hamdan put him facing down on his own pee. He was all wet and crying, I told the doctor that what he was doing was not good and he just said that it was his own pee and nothing would happen. This was the first and only time I will take my son here. It was a horrible experience seeing my baby crying while he was bathed in his own pee. I know nothing will happen to him, but this was really unprofessional and unsanitary. They should know better!! read more

I highly recommend Dr. Wu to all parents!! Both of my daughters has been with Dr. Wu since born. Before he starteded his office, I used to drive 45 mins to Los Alamitos to see him and he is worth the drive! He is super nice and patient with every client. He will Never Ever rush you out of the office (even if I was asking repetitive questions that starts to annoy my husband!!). The wait time is less than 20 mins, even with Walk-Ins!! If your kids have fever, the office will Always squeeze you in! The nurses are really nice and helpful too, always put smiles on their faces. Your kids will love the fire truck bed in the office which allows the child to climb up on the own. read more

Before few days, he has a nurse practitioner to care my son, and so details to check and explain what happen about my son got ill. I never see doctor and the staffs so heart to care the kids. OK, so my 5yo daughter has been here about two years, and she was here most recently a couple weeks ago. We were told to get a doctor's note and we wanted to make sure it wasn't anything serious, as the school nurse had called a couple times and seemed really concerned. We brought her in for an appt later that afternoon and never even saw Dr. Wu. He was there but was too busy with other patients apparently, and had one of his assistants see my daughter. I just feel that he should have at least taken a look at her; after all he is the M.D. at this location, and thus he's the qualified professional we come here to see. Not that we have anything against nurses or assistants at all, we just feel uncomfortable that he never bothered coming to the appt. It turned out that my daughter was fine, and her symptoms went away, but that's beside the point. The point is we had scheduled to see Dr. Wu and never did at the appointment. read more

We're to start with this Not sure? My son went in to see Dr. Wu for a cold I mentioned my son had been sick for almost two weeks, he had a fever on/off he was vomiting. All I was told was it was a "common cold" he didn't go further to investigate as to why he had been sick so long. He didn't offer more to me as a parent. Sent us on our way saying; to just give him over the counter medicine. Well that didn't work we ended up in the ER a few days later. My son had a virus, he was dehydrated, his sugar level was below what it should have been, along with numerous other issues. I felt my son was misdiagnosed and didn't get the proper care at the time he went in to see him. With that said; I unfortunately decided to move my son to a different pediatricians office. I would NEVER recommend him to anyone I know. I hope no one else will have this experience wit him like I did. **He doesn't even deserve a one stat from me** but I have to give a rating to post this. read more
