That was a few years ago and while my over all skin is much more supple something terrible was happening to my hands. Most likely a combination of caustic hand soaps and inefficient lotions, and with the addition of using much more sanitizer than ever before, my hands were desperately dry, swollen, cracked and itched like you wouldn't believe. I was truly suffering. I decided to see Dr. Nikbaht at Jefferson Dermatology a few weeks ago. She immediately put me on a steroid and also added light therapy which is something I'd never heard of. I go in now three days a week and spend just a few seconds with my hands in the light box. They increase my exposure to the light more each time. I've had three treatments so far and with the cream my hands are dramatically better. Best of all they no longer itch. I am a very happy patient.

I asked her if it'd be okay if I went to the bathroom really quick first; she looked a bit irritated but let me go. When I came back after two minutes, she was gone, so I just kept on waiting until she came out again. Finally I saw her and she said to follow up after two months if the condition persisted. After two and a half month I messaged her to tell her my condition was still present. It took her 8 days to finally get back to my question. During that time, there was no reply from any nurse, no nothing. She told me to follow up in another month if the condition still had not disappeared. Another month had passed and it has not, so I messaged her again about the follow up. It's been over 3 days and now it's Friday night, meaning I won't hear anything until next week maybe. In my own experience, Dr. Neda Nikbakht is uncaring and can't be bothered and will just leave you in the dark.

When you ask a question, whether in person or over the phone, they just ask you a bunch of irrelevant questions instead of answering your question. For example, I called on Thursday and asked if they have any male doctors or nurses there, because I needed something looked at in my private area and I would prefer to be seen by a male medical provider. Instead of answering my simple question, the person who answered the phone put me on hold to speak to a second person. I had to ask the second person the same question, "Do you have a male doctor or nurse there?" to which she responded, "Yes, we have a nurse here," which is of course not what I asked. Instead of answering my simple question, she also put me on hold to speak to a third person! The third person I spoke to on the phone seemed to be an office manager there and seemed more competent and finally answered my question. She told me that it's a small place and it's all women who work there. I asked her where I could go to see a male medical provider. She referred me to the Health Center on S. Broad St. I drove half an hour away to get to the Health Center on Broad St. only to find out that they don't have any male doctors or nurses there either! The staff there said that the staff at AHF should have known better than to give me incorrect information as there is no way they could have known who works at the other health center. I drove halfway across town for nothing! I'll just go to my PCP for all my health needs from now on.

This 19 story steel & glass edifice is totally state of the art, particularly in terms of security and patient privacy. Kiosk check in required to reach the elevator launches, and video monitor interface when completing your doctor visit. Really quite remarkable. I met my cardiologist in a private room shortly after the physician's assistant completed the EKG, and had asked me all the standard questions to prepare me for the doctor who was there to review those results, ask follow up questions from our prior visit together and remind me to exercise regularly (I do) and add more potassium to my diet regimen. It was all very efficient and reassuring. We bumped fists as he left the room, and said he would see me next year (God willing). Although just around the corner from the old Jefferson Medical Center on 11th, this new 21st Century facility goes way beyond what the former place was capable of doing. The 9th floor of Honickman felt like the cockpit of a future rocket ship to the outer reaches of scientific medicine, rather than the farthest point the old technology could take us. I was ready for the new ride. 5 Stars for Jeff's vision of the future of medicine.
