Do you appreciate being treated like a person from your medical professional and not a number? If you answered yes, DO NOT come here! I scheduled an appointment for a cancer screening on a growth I had found. Not only was I scheduled with a NP, and NOT with the doctor I was referred to. Without my knowledge. Not a big deal as I figured the doctor would be there for a consultation if needed. NOPE. When I inquired about that, I was advised the doctor wasn't even in that day. The sealer that they don't care about you as a person. I received a call at 10:23am day of my appointment (today) from the front desk telling me the NP I was scheduled with, Melissa Barrer WANTED TO LEAVE EARLY and if I could come in next Thursday. Not even next available, first thing Monday morning. But almost a week from my appointment because they wanted to leave early on a Friday. When I expressed that I have a previous, different diagnosis and this appointment was a cancer screening and not just a cosmetic inquiry. The person at the front desk was cold and advised they wouldn't be here for my scheduled appointment. Let's not mention that I would have to pay a fee if I canceled within 5 hours, while they do so with nonchalance and callous. Not the place to be treated for legit medical needs. Maybe a pimple or Botox, if you don't mind maaaaybbee seeing them the same month of your appointment. read more

I was generally happy with Dr. Brown but the cosmetic part of it was difficult. It was impossible for me to reach anyone there. I set up auto replenish and when they sent too many, I couldn't reach them to change it. I had too many and they wouldn't accept return. Said I waited too long. Dr. Brown was wrong about my first diagnoses and was not open to hear my opinion about the suggested treatment she prescribed, which I did not use, because I knew she was wrong! I felt she was very condescending when I explained what I was going through and what I thought it could be. I would give zero stars if possible. Dr. Brown actually rolled her eyes at me when I said I have been prescribed Doxycycline previously and it did not work. She then proceeded to prescribe me Doxycycline. I was upfront about my high deductible insurance plan and needing to be self pay. Front staff instructed me to provide insurance information anyway and of course I then begin receiving bills in the mail. When I inquired to the office about why I was ignored at every possible turn I was pushed off to the office manager. She talked in circles about contracted rate, again ignoring everything I said. When I said she was not listening and talking over me, she immediately outburst with "NOBODY IS TALKING OVER YOU SIR!" To which I replied, "You are doing it now".... I had a LARGE melanoma removed from my face by Dr. Brown. The incision was nearly 4 inches long, from just below my left eye down to my jaw. I was terrified that I would look like I was in a knife fight the rest of my life, because I was going to have a horrible scar. Dr. Brown did such a good job on the surgery and my recovery that today you cannot see the scar unless you look very closely. It was truly amazing. I do not know how she did it but she did. I am indebted to her for her incredible work. PS I am a grown man and don't have acne, so I cannot comment on that facet of her practice, but she did right by me, and I 'preciate her. read more

I don't get the negative Yelp reviews at all. I read them and expected a long wait time and an impersonal doctor. (Wrong!) After reading the reviews, I still kept my appointment because even the negative reviews say she's excellent at her craft. (Right!) So I went in with warm waiting room clothes and a couple of graduate school books. Figured I'd get some studying in while I waited. Y'all, I barely got 2 pages read before I was called back. And when I entered the room, I didn't wait long for the doctor either. She was focused on my explanation of my symptoms, asked follow up questions, made diagnoses, asked more questions, prescribed medication, provided instructions for the medications, and completed a painful procedure with care and several, "I'm sorry. I know this hurts." I'm not sure how more personable a doctor is supposed to be than that. I thought she was perfect. Her assistant was knowledgeable. And her staff was friendly. I will be back for all of my follow ups, and I recommend Dr. Brown highly. read more

This place only deserves one star because Dr Brown's PA, Hilary, is fantastic. She is very thorough in explaining things and is a great listener. I came here under the impression that Dr. Brown would be a great dermatologist, don't get me wrong, maybe she is, but I only met her for 30 seconds on my first visit and she never really cared after that. The PA was doing everything. Every now and then she will pop her head inside the room just to ask the PA a question. She wanted to do better things rather than deal with patients with acne. She makes you feel not important and that you are just interrupting her day. They only want to sell her line of products which will cost you an arm and a leg. And they are nothing special...the same medication in other over the counter medications. Her front office staff has got to be the worst I've ever dealt with. They are cranky and abrupt and don't acknowledge you when you walk in, maybe 10 minutes later. Why did Christine Brown win an award for best dermatologist in 2015?on D magazine?! Worst Visit Ever! She doesn't even deserve 1 star! The office staff were nice but Dr. Brown has the worst bedside manner I was a new patient no "welcome or Hi" I had 3 concerns and she barely wanted to discuss any She kept trying to leave she was in the room for maybe 5min! when the MA was like she has another question. The MA was better at explaining things to me then the DR! Then they must get kickbacks to send your RX to some pharmacy i never even heard of which wanted to charge me over$200 Crazy!! I paid $115 for this visit plus what my insurance will pay her! I will dispute this visit with my insurance! She didn't introduce herself or anything I guess it bc she has her 20yr plus clientele and doesn't need anymore. Here is an idea maybe she should stop taking new patients. I also wish I had read some reviews on here before booking an appointment. I was looking for a dermatologist fairly close to my home in Dallas, and Christine Brown was one of the first names to pop up in my search. The office called me the next morning to book my appointment, and it was easy to get an appointment in the same week (but now I know why!). First off, her office seems to specialize more so in COSMETIC Dermatology. As a fellow educated professional, I did some research as far as her board certification goes and other reviews and specialties. I did not think to look on Yelp however. I honestly had high hopes and was expecting more than a 3 minute exam and diagnosis. She looked at my skin, asked the nurse "let's see what samples we have to give her to knock this out". After reading reviews about wrong diagnoses and medicine, I am hesitant to use what they prescribed me! While Dr. Brown seemed pleasant, it was more obvious that she was more interested in selling her products and cosmetic dermatology than in her normal, everyday patients who are suffering from everyday skin issues. At least she was friendly, as well as her nurse. I did not mind the staff, they seemed friendly as well. Sadly, I have been super dissappointed :( and will not be returning. Maybe Dr. Brown is good for anything cosmetic dermatology related, but I would NOT recommend going to her for any other dermatology issues. read more

OK, the poor Irish nose took another hit, and I'm back again for Mohs surgery after another BCC is discovered. I did NOT return to Dr. Brown, but instead went to another physician who I'll review elsewhere. What I learned fro him, however, was that the skin graft on my nose that Christine Brown did was not the best repair available. Cancer gone from the site, yes - but not an aesthetically pleasing repair. The skin which was taken from my temple for the graft was not the same color or texture, and it looks like a pale erasure head right onthe tip of my nose. It always needs makeup. If you have the misfortune to need Mohs surgery, put yourself in the hands of a competant plastic surgeon to do the repair. One who knows what he's doing! Better yet, find a Mohs surgeon who is also a plastic surgeon for better results and peace of mind across the board. read more

I had a terrible experience with Dr. Christine Brown. Although her office may appear to be uber-professional with spiffy marketing materials and shiny plaques lining the walls, Dr. Brown runs her office much more like a saleswoman than an actual doctor. I came to her with a mild case of acne and expected to leave with a prescription or two; but after she left the room, her nurse returned only with a long list of "products" that I was supposed to buy...from her *directly*. Bear in mind that most of these products were from her own special skincare line. They were quite expensive ($150 total), but since she was my doctor, I trusted her and bought the products. After one use of each of the products, my skin reacted violently to the strong chemicals in the products and I proceeded to peel (quite painfully) for about four days until I was able to see her again. Upon our next discussion, she tried once again to "sell" her products to me and even attempted to blame me for misuse...but when I told her I simply wanted my money back, she wouldn't even recommend another medication or engage in a discussion with me. All she said was, "Well, that's your choice" - and left the room. Not even a "good-bye" or "All the best"....I mean, yikes! Can you even call her a doctor? read more

Very disappointed! I had a 5 minute visual appointment with no extra testing and was charged on the high end for my visit. When you make an appointment without insurance they give you 150-250 range, so it's just a surprise when you check out. I would hope that for such a simple I wouldn't be charged on the high end knowing that I was paying out of pocket. I will never refer or visit again. read more

I waited over 30 minutes for her not to even touch me and walk out after I'm not kidding 40 seconds. Terrible doctor and personality. I will never recommend this person ever. Dr Brown cares more about selling her own products than the safety of her patients. I came to her for the first time back in October 2015, when I had an unusual breakout. While her bedside manner was definitely lacking, I liked her staff and how thorough she was inspecting my moles. At the end of the appointment I was given a list of recommended products that came out to over $400 (for mild acne, mind you). I bought about half these products and they did nothing to help. Then, in April 2016, with the acne exacerbated by pregnancy, I made an appointment. I never saw Dr Brown, only a well meaning nurse and pushy but nice PA. The PA claimed the Dr recommended a Benzoyl Peroxide treatment (wash and lotion), that (surprise, surprise) she sold in her office. When I mentioned that I was pretty sure BP was unsafe for pregnant women, she PA pushed on, citing the Dr's years of experience. When I said I would prefer a topical antibiotic ointment, the PA said it was considered category C (unsafe for pregnant women). Not wanting to argue (hey, I get it, I didn't go to med school), I reluctantly bought $50 of Benzoyl Peroxide products. Well, minus one of the recommended products, that when I pressed on about discovered it contained Salicylic Acid, a super no-no when pregnant. I should have seen that as a sign and left empty handed. Well, I called my OB/GYN before using the products, and she confirmed what I already suspected: Benzoyl Peroxide is Category C, unsafe for pregnant women, and strongly recommended I not use it. She recommended I request Dr Brown to instead prescribe me an antibiotic treatment since its category B (which the PA lied and said was category C, unsafe). Looking it up on the American Dermatology Association's website confirms what my OB/GYN said. When I called the Dr's office the next day, the nurse curtly said that the Dr stood by her recommendation, and that if I wanted an antibiotic cream rX, "maybe I should ask my OB/GYN for it". Why on earth would a pregnant lady take the time to go to dermatologist for an RX if her OB would have prescribed it?!? And of course when I returned it, it took a good 15 minutes to get Dr Brown's approval for the return. I'll be finding a real dermatologist, not a glorified skin spa trying to make a buck (at the expense of her patients' safety). read more

RUDE and UNACCEPTABLE - My visit to Dr. Christine Brown's office on 12/08/22 is one I will never forget. I have visited my share of physician offices but have never visited one with whom I was in and out within 15 minutes or less. I should've turned around and went out the door when I first encountered the check in receptionist. Her facial expression was very unwelcoming in her demeanor was one I won't even bother to write down. She looked at me as if I did not belong in that establishment. After getting my name and asking for my insurance I was informed there would be a co-pay. My response was I'm aware; her response was "it will be $40 can you pay that". I did not respond; I slid my credit card and paid my co-pay. Before I could get situated to wait to be called back to a room to see the physician a young lady came to the door and called my name. I was taken to a room and asked the reason for my visit. I was then told the doctor would be in to see me shortly. About 2-3 minutes later Dr. Brown entered the room and looked at me, then looked at my caregiver and asked which one of us was the patient. I informed her that I was the patient. Her facial expression was the same as the receptionist's - unwelcoming and as if I didn't belong there. Her demeanor was very guarded; she never uncrossed her arms from in front of her and she stepped to the side of me which led me to maneuver my wheelchair to turn to face her. I was asked once again a reason for visiting and she was informed. I gave her a previous diagnosis from years ago. She agreed with my statements; however, she never washed her hands, put on gloves, touched my face, hair or looked behind my ears based on the statement of my visit. She asked, "how often do you wash your hair". I responded and was asked if I could do it more often and stated it would help with my scalp and face. She then communicated some prescriptions to her assistant for me to use and nothing else was said to me. As a woman of color and disabled person this is the second time in my life that I have encountered this type of behavior regarding who THEY THINK I am without a person verbally speaking it. I know I will never visit that office again nor refer anyone. It's unfortunate that in 2022 going into 2023 people still feel like they can still subtly display their disregard of who they think you are based on the color your skin and/or disability, and you do not say anything about it as though it is acceptable. My Mom and Grandmother did not die from Melanoma on their face, they died of old age, thanks to Christine. She cut chunks out of their faces and with amazing technology and genius abilities, they were beautiful! I have been with Dr. Brown for over 40 years. From pimples to skin cancers, we have experienced life's ups and downs. Births, deaths of my spouse, sister, Mother, etc. major stress, and are survivors. I had an appointment the day Dr. Browns divorce papers were served, in the 90's, I believe, imagine going in for a procedure following that situation. lol I never wanted to be her friend, I just wanted the most intelligent, experienced person cutting and burning on me. When I have my car detailed, hair cut, house cleaned, I don't I want niceties, I want expertise! It's great fun now, thank God, to go to Christine, for beauty treatments. Do I look 60? Photo facial, Blue Light, all of her products, you name it, I have done it, since age 35. Today, as my birthday gift, $3,5,00, I am going to get the FX Laser on my face neck and arm age spots removed. One more thing I call Dr. Brown, Dr. Frankenstein, for obvious reasons, she always smiles and understands. Here's a tip of the day, record! My sister would always record Dr. Brown and arrive with a list of questions. She will answer everything you ask, try it you might be surprised. I tried scheduling an appointment through the phone and "Brandy" answered and she was extremely rude and gave me an attitude over everything. I saw that google had great reviews for this clinic so I came to yelp to see if it also had great reviews and all i saw were negative reviews. Now I'm glad I read the reviews here before I actually scheduled an appointment there. Now I understand why all the reviews say that Doctor Brown is unprofessional. Omg!!! I do not recommend this woman to ANYONE!! You're merely a number. She doesn't give a shit about the person. I waited over 1/2 hour. Tgats ok though right? My time isn't important (being sarcastic!!) I sat in the examine room for a while. I'm a new patient, so when Doc Brown came in, sure would have been nice to have her introduce herself!!! Is that asking to much for a $300 office visit? I told her what I was there for. She made me feel like a fat, old lady who's skin wasn't worth saving!! She spent 45 SECONDS with me before leaving the room and having her PA take over. I'm like....what the HELL!!!! PA proceeds to tell me for each keratosis I needed frozen, it would be approx $20 each and I had 14 that were itching like crazy. Anyone ever have this done? Frozen medicated liquid in a can? The PA told me it would be $240 on top of the $103 I paid for copay and the approx $296.00 Dr Brown was getting from my Ins Co for the 45 sec visit. I call that "highway robbery ". Complete money hungry B.S." I've been asking for my copay back for over a week. They said "no way". So I'm about to go to every authority I can think of. What is this world coming to?? I went in to remove a mole I was worried could be melanoma, meanwhile the only time Dr. Brown really spoke with me during my appointment was to try and sell laser hair removal- like most reviewers stated, Dr. Brown doesn't have the best bedside manner. Then, I was called a week later to go back because she didn't remove enough for the lab. Okay, fine. I was assured I would not have an out of pocket expense this time. Didn't happen. As I left I was told it would be $200 (what!?) even though I paid $300 for the original visit. Come to find out, insurance covered it all so I shouldn't have paid anything but the $25 office visit. I couldn't help but feel like a dollar sign they wanted to suck dry and push out the door. Once I can finally get my money back (only send out refunds twice a month AFTER it goes through a line of people for approval) I will never associate with this office. read more

To sum up my experience: Dr. Brown has an impressive display of degrees with ZERO bedside manner. If you're looking to be talked at and not to, then this is your doctor. I have no reason to doubt her abilities but left incredibly disturbed by her obvious lack of interest to interact with a first time patient. She basically walked in, assessed my situation, spoke to her assistant about me as if I was not in front of her and then told her what I needed to do. I had to pinch myself to make sure I hadn't somehow become invisible during the appointment. Before she could walk out, I asked her to break things down and explain to me what she had just evaluated. At what seemed to be an inconvenience, she gave me a summary of what she'd just told her assistant nurse and left. No handshake, no introduction, not even a smile. Not a pleasant experience and I won't be back. Waited 30 minutes after my appointment time before I even saw the doctor and no one apologized or even acknowledged it. Dr. Brown was rude and condescending... I came in complaining of acne and requesting a specific medication which I'd used successfully in the past but instead she suggested I switch my makeup (and purchase one sold in house) and also purchase an array of her in house products. She was very snappy and asked me a lot of detailed questions about my specific makeup products, and gave me a dirty look when I didn't know the answer. I came here because I was experiencing side effects from one of my medications. Christine's nurse was very sweet and treated me like a person and asked all sorts of questions. Her nurse acted more like a doctor than Christine Brown. When Christine walked in she was very rude to me, did not ask any questions, and just grabbed my head and pushed it down to look at my scalp without saying anything. I have never had such a horrible experience during a doctor's visit in my entire life. After moving to Dallas, and based on the stellar zocdoc online reviews of Dr. Brown as a dermatologist, I chose her. I must say that I am hugely disappointed, and I believe she lacks glaringly when compared to several dermatologists I've used in the past. Also, somewhat separately, I found their seeming focus on finance above all else discomforting and galling. Of course, when I saw the outrageous prices she passed along to the insurance company for the services performed, I understood why. As for patient care, I was not impressed........and will not return. I used her three times - no more! Full body exam - Dr. Brown seems to take an arms length approach, conducting what I considered a cursory exam, rather than a full, detailed, and comprehensive search for any worrying signs on the skin. She literally conducted her exam at arms length. The exam was far less detailed than other annual (now bi-annual) exams performed by other dermatologists. Her exam did not cover my entire body, which one would think, would do just that. Again, an example of a cursory exam and her disinterest. Compounding the issue with the exam was that she first sent in her nurse practicioner to conduct the exam. My response to the nurse's polite query was an emphatic NO. I was paying for an experienced Medical Doctor to conduct the exam, not a nurse. Imagine, Dr. Brown tried to delegate the full body scan to her nurse!! Come to think of it, maybe I would have been better off with the nurse! Overall, she is cold and lacks compassion, and I sensed a lack of enthusiasm by Dr. Brown to engage with me, the patient, about my skin. Given that I've had 3 areas of squamous cell carcinoma, numerous basil cell, and many, many areas of keratosis over the past 4 years - all of them removed, I found her lack of engagement and disinterest incredibly egregious. Don't waste your time, and potentially save your life --- go elsewhere!! read more

I spent an hour and twenty minutes in this office this morning. About 5 were spent with Dr. Brown's PA and about 3 were spent with the Dr. herself. The rest was me waiting. She didnt greet me and said something about being in surgery - clearly I wasnt a priority. That's fine, I have mild (but annoying) acne that had recurred after 10 years of acne free living! She prescribed 5 things, one was a prescription and 4 were from her skin care line. She listed off the 4 from her line by name, but gave no explanation of their benefits, etc. I was handed a card with the schedule to follow and a brochure about the products and told that the total for the products was $185.00. It was up to the front desk to try and answer the questions I still had! I did not purchase any of the products at all and left empty handed. The PA was VERY nice, but I feel like I wasted my $30 copay and 2 hours of my day and now I have to find another dermatologist and take time off work, etc. I dont have terrible acne, but I would have still appreciated my time being valued and feeling like a patient. Gave the benefit of the doubt the first time I went, as sometimes doctors fall behind schedule, so I went back a second time and after sitting in the waiting area 1 hour and 15 minutes after my appointment time without being called I decided to walk out. Went in, I looked her up to see the reviews hoping it wasn't going to turn out as they say, surprisingly they're very true. When I walked in she didn't give me time to think about what she was going to do she was mostly giving me the vibes she wanted to get out of there & when i asked her what I can use for medications she told me & I asked if she could help me out & write them down & she said sure. When she walked out the room she never came back with a paper I was hoping & when she did she just took me out the room as soon as possible.
