It makes me sad to share this, as I wanted Project After Six to succeed, given their mission. But I…read moreworked with this firm last year and experienced mistakes in my tax preparation that led to an IRS penalty. I had never had issues with the IRS or mistakes on my taxes before working with them. While they apologized and did some work to try and fix it (though the late penalty is still a bit unresolved), the level of support from Project After Six remained reactive rather than proactive, with hands-on attention only when issues arose. I also experienced missed or hard-to-schedule appointments (not showing up for, or delaying, a couple of scheduled calls) and slow communication, which added stress and frustration. I tried to provide feedback privately, give them the benefit of the doubt because they were a lean team and kept prices manageable (so they said), and provide them an opportunity to improve, but my concerns were dismissed. And instead of assuring me that next year would be different, they just increased their pricing significantly without any assurance that service quality or responsiveness would improve. Despite a history of errors (some before we even filed -- conversations with them often felt rushed, and they often asked me to remind them of my tax situation), the firm treated the higher fee as justified without addressing the underlying gaps in support or communication. Doubling down on "well you just don't understand complexity", rather than engaging a prospective client thoughtfully, is not what anyone deserves -- especially a small business owner like myself just trying to find my way. And I was even going to recommend them to other small business owners, but I can't anymore -- including a friend who was considering using their services this year. I felt more like a number than a person to them. For clients seeking reliable, attentive service -- especially those with LLCs or Schedule C income -- I would caution that their pricing does not currently align with the service provided. They mentioned feedback is welcome, but based on my experience, accountability is limited, and trust is fragile.
