Ive never heard anything "bad" about this hospital, only good things. My entire life I've know this…read moreto be a great hospital since one of my friends mom works here and was promoted and she told me they are great and workers. I went here MANY times to see his mom and also had came to see people. It wasn't until it personally effected me until my father recently was told me has AFIB and his heart is a bit weak and needs a procedure to check his heart and see if there's anything that needs to be done. Ended up he had an 80% blockage on one of his left heart artery and needed a stent. I know people who have 4-6, he just needed one thank god but they were AMAZING. The cardiologist explained everything simply and what he would be doing and he promised he would come afterwards to talk to us. Doctors get busy so I wasn't really betting on that I figured we would just get the information from the nurses and 20 mins tops after his procedure he came in, he waited until my dad was fully awake to hear what he did. Everything went great and he had a follow up that went well and now we are going back actually today for his other issue he's been having. The heart came out of no where he's never had any issues, but lucky the doctor and all the other doctors, the nurses, ALL the staff, I did like how they had security since it's not far from some bad areas, even checking in was fun and we were laughing with the woman. I wished I remembered her name! Even though it's early I'm not dreading going back today, though today we are going to the Mary V. Black building, so it's a completely different building but I'm sure it will be..atleast I hope...will be just as great. Also, it was very very clean. I was truly impressed, so was my mom when she went there and she's an RN as well in PA and she was really impressed with the nurses and how clean it was! I know this is long but if you are ever in the area and need medical assistance, this is where I would go and recommend!!

On Approximately Jan 28 2026, my husband was admitted to this hospital with a red tongue. He had…read morebeen fighting & winning his battle with prostate cancer for 7 years & this hospital does a new treatment called Histotripsy for cancers metastasized into the liver. So long story short, he spent 2 weeks in this hospital and they gave a sepsis did Not properly diagnose it and admitted they were giving him the wrong antibiotic then killed him. Plus as it was spreading the nurses kept saying it was not (see pics) so I had to make noise and immediately the doctors all came in & sent him to intensive care this was his 71st birthday. The next day the in charge nurses from the oncology floor he was on, came to intensive care in tears apologizing. Once they figured out it the correct bacteria they starting treating him on Feb 12 & he was improving, watching Nascar Friday Feb 13 & looking forward to the 500 on Sunday but they insisted on a DNR and a port in his neck. They then overloaded him & gave him a heart attack. Which killed him. I was running to take a shower & they called & said he had a heart attack so I asked to reverse the DNR - They said they had gotten a pulse but broke his ribs so they gave him morphine & killed him again. They even brought in an allergist who said the red tongue was an allergic reaction when it was Not!!!! Odd thing is I tried to get a lawyer so his death would not go unnoticed records but the lawyers say he was old . 2 weeks before this he was going to PT 3 times a week for his back & looking forward to riding his motorcycle once the weather got warmer. We had gone to Florida in December. So not the youngest person but definitely not Old. Now that very unfortunately Kyle Busch died over 10 days from the sepsis (as my husband did) maybe some attention will come to the poor diagnosis of sepsis. So the only way I can warn people is to start posting it with pictures (on the top part of the page) . I hope this saves someone's life. Miss you every day my dear husband. He was my life and they took him!!!!

I was guided every step of the way and made to feel very comfortable. Everyone was very patient with me and kept answering my questions until I understood what was going to happen. Everything explained was exactly what happened. Very minimal scarring - If you ever need thyroid surgery, Dr. Shifrin is the surgeon you want to do it!

After my needle biopsy showed a positive reading naturally I was very nervous. I got in to see Dr. Shifrin within a week of the biopsy results to come up with a game plan. I'm on blood thinners so it makes for a complicated case. He did another ultrasound on it to confirm the size and he thought its in my best interest to remove the whole thing instead of half bc if the surgical biopsy came back positive then I would have to go back in and remove the other side. With me being on blood thinners for life it would be dangerous to stop again so that's what we did. Leading up to the day of surgery I kept in contact with Amy C who coordinated all my visits and paperwork. She was awesome! She took all my nervous calls and calmed me down every time. Post surgery I was swelling up pretty good so I reached out to Amy who then connected my with Tara the PA. She got right back to me in between their scheduled surgeries and saw me to look at the swelling. She and Dr. Shifrin both met up with me and did another ultrasound to make sure there was no fluid build up in my neck. After they saw me they went back to their next scheduled surgery. Tara followed up with me for the next couple of days to see how I was doing. The pathology report came in within a week and it was positive for papillary cancer. Tara called me again to go over it and was very compassionate and calmed me down. I just had my 2 week follow up with both Dr. Shifrin and PA Tara Corrigan and they were pleased to tell me that all the cancer was removed and I'm free of it now. My family and I thank everyone there for walking with us through this tough scary journey. If you're shopping around for a thyroid surgeon and happened on this review please take my word and come see them. You wont regret it!

I have been going to Hackensack Meridian Urgent Care in Piscataway. I've come across a few good…read morephysicians there. However, within the past year, I have noticed a decline in care. I DO NOT recommend attending this urgent care facility if Dr. V. Witt is the only doctor on staff. Unfortunately, my two interactions with her were not welcoming or professional. She saw my father and myself. She interrupted me when speaking; when she asked a medical question, she did not wait for my response but cut me off, started to walk to the door, and placed herself in the door frame. She was informed of my typical treatment for sinus issues along with my asthma. She agreed, and then, to my surprise, she did not disclose she was prescribing medication I never had before. On the second visit, about 2.5 weeks later, I went again for my daughter. She did not address the 4-year-old in the room; she did not look in her ears, mouth, or nose; she listened to her chest but did not ask her to take deep breaths. She stated, "Nothing's wrong with her." I asked her to be swabbed. Dr. Witt strongly resisted my request, saying, "It could be a million things." She was informed I would like to have the swab to confirm any illness no matter what since it is annoying that it seems no confirmation tests are ever done, and I tend to have to come back to urgent care or make a sick appointment with her primary. She said, "I'll test for all, but can't guarantee your insurance will cover it." This felt like manipulation and a fear tactic. This was all while she had her hands folded across her chest, not to mention some eye rolls. When I spoke to her about my continued sinus issues, she stated, "Well, what's wrong with you now?" I described the same things, and she followed that up with the comment, "Well, you didn't do anything I said last time. What do you want me to do." I corrected her and said that's not true. I took the antibiotic but not the steroid she prescribed because I did not feel comfortable with something I'd never taken. With the side effects that were listed and acknowledged, she prescribed something more substantial than what I usually take that helps. With that, she did not listen to my chest again or do any interventions and told me to take what she prescribed. It turns out my daughter has RSV and the rhinovirus. Dr.Witt called to inform me of the results, which I asked about further, but she gave none. Note as an LSW professional working in a clinical setting and hospitals, her demeanor and overall practice did not meet the standards of Hackensack Meridian's mission. She rushes patients, has poor listening skills, is abrupt and dismissive, has horrible body language that is closed, does not provide informed care, and seems to lead with ego. I told the manager, who noted that this was not the first complaint. In a field where people are coming to a professional in a vulnerable state, she needs to improve her bedside manner, or maybe it's just time to hang up her white coat. This has been the worst Doctor-patient interaction I have had in many years.
