I was looking at a little car for my daughter and I asked the worker standing there if I could see it she said oh they're coming with the keys. So waited and another worker came by and helped the other worker and she went to the car I wanted for my daughter and took it. It looked like she was on the clock and she didn't even want a toy car she was looking at the purses she just went to it because I asked for it. I was upset so I didn't bother to ask for her name I just left it was for my 3 year old standing next to me. Terrible service read more

One manager at the Houston location named Tyrone is so rude. lf you speak to him he just looks down his nose at you like you're less human than him. Dale the other manager told customers he didn't want us standing around the store.. I was made to feel very unwelcome and unwanted maybe because I'm not a Mormon perhaps. This thrift store is big, with 2 levels -- the top is clothes and the bottom is furniture/others. The aisles are huge, too! We ended up getting a cute puzzle bookcase and a beautiful piano bench piece! They also have a huge selection of photo frames; we ended up getting quite a few of those and some miscellaneous tchotchkes/knick knacks. All in total, we spent a bit over $45; the bookcase was $10, the bench was $30, and ~$7 for everything else. We were helped by Austin, who was very friendly! He let us take our furniture items through the staff elevator, and helped us cart them out to the car. Parking was easy, they have a pretty sizable lot out front. Overall, shopping at Deseret was a really great experience! read more

So I been going to this thrift store for YEARS. I grew up with this thrift store :3! My mom would take me here when I was little and I saw how much it's changed over the years!!! Now that I'm 18 years old. I love this thrift store very much! The prices are affordable!! The employees are soo nice and helpful!! This thrift store is by far the most cleanest and organized thrift stores in LA!! It has 2 floors, upstairs is the clothing section and downstairs is the toys/electronics/furniture/home decor section!! This thrift store is literally 5 minutes away from my home :3. Not one who frequents thrift/vintage stores but sure was curious about friends and coworkers raving about great finds. So off we go exploring and trying to find the thrill of finding a killer wardrobe item of household find. Didn't find anything on my visit- but will say this place is well organized. This place is much larger than what I was expecting--2 floors. Top floor is apparel and bottom floor is household, Knick knacks, furniture, books. Good prices, place looks clean, plenty of parking, and workers were friendly and helpful. I didn't find anything...selection is ok but not great. Don't expect high end designer finds here...but there are plenty of racks to browse. Definitely worth checking out. read more

I used to enjoy going here better, but the last few times haven't seen a lot of treasures. My favorite area is the housewares section that is downstairs, but the inventory seemed low today, not much furniture. There were a lot of items in the clothing section upstairs, but nothing that I couldn't live without. Opened Monday -Friday these days, but not on Saturday like the used to be pre-Covid. They have a large parking lot which is a bonus when you're downtown. read more

been coming here since approx 2003, it used to be bigger however they closed down the outside part of the store. as re sellers mostly come here people were fighting perhaps that was why. I really love this store i havent been here in over 15 years or more, however prices haven't really changed that much. compared to Goodwill this is a true Thrift store. problem is no matter how cheap items are priced many people are changing prices still. i see it all the time. it sad. i suggest pricing items with a sharpie. after all these proceeding are going to pay employees, bills and help those in their church and or communities. The staff is wonderful always very helpful. I just stated going again and it hasnt changed much. read more

Calling all budget thrifters! This is your place. Desert Industries is a large, 2 floor thrift store with clothes, books, accessories, furniture and more. The main level is mostly clothes and some shoes. There are A LOT of clothes. Be prepared to sort through many racks. Most of the clothes here are well-worn and out-dated (read: lots of long flared jeans, grandma sweaters -- not the cute ones). Finding a trendy or cute piece is like looking for a needle in a haystack... But hey, clothes are still clothes, and the prices here are super-affordable! The bottom level is furniture, home goods, and books. There's a lot of variety in the books, and there are even some fairly recent ones. The only downside is that there is no rhyme, no reason to the way they are arranged. If you are looking for a specific author or title, good luck to ya... I wouldn't go out of my way to visit Deseret Industries, but it's worth a try if you're nearby. read more

THE Worst experience ever at a thrift store, SO I went today and wanted to try on a pair of pants I found, I'm there with my mom and I'm looking for a fitting room to try the pants on, my mom tells me just go into that one "door is open just go in quick" as soon as I go inside, barely close the door I heard a rude older worker lady asking my mom "did a man just went in there to change!?" (Mind you I'm a very gay man... and the fitting rooms were all empty ) I open the door and she says "this is the WOMENs department area you can't go in there" I was like mmmm "there's only two fitting rooms in the men's area and there are occupied" she goes very rudely "well men have to go to men's fitting rooms and females to the female area" and I told her " if you're gonna say that ok fine go tell the lesbian couple changing in the men's department dressing room they can't be there cuz they are women, so go ahead!!" She didn't say anything, never felt so discriminated at a store before, I mean if you're pretty much kicking me out of a dressing room cuz I'm a gay guy, why aren't you saying anything to the lesbian couple who's try on dozens of items for the past hr with the door wide open IN THE MENS AREA!!!??? And she didn't tell them anything, idk why, I was irritated and angry in a way, I literally just wanted some pants, I had to leave them and just walked out, what year are we in? Ms. Yvonne was the only nice lady at the door greeting customers with a smile. There are two stores in one. Let me explain, the top floor is just clothes and shoes. Bottom floor is furniture, movies, books, holiday decorations, antiques, mattresses, bicycles and a whole lot of empty open space. If you buy something from upstairs you cannot take it downstairs, which you have to leave at the door with a key that belongs to your locker cabinet. I personally did not find anything worth my liking but it was a good spot to check out. read more

The store looked large and well organized but I have not had a chance to check it out. I have so much stuff in my car waiting to be dropped off there but it's still covid. Shoppers are rude and aggressive. When the clerk rolls a cart out, the customers are extremely pushy, even to the elderly. Sad! I hope the store figures out how to control the rudeness. The grabby hoarders are bad here. Most of the clerks at very nice even though they have to deal with crazy people. A couple are gruff, but can you blame them? Like all thrift stores, items are hit or miss. Since it's Mormon, clothes tend run on the cheap, boring and conservative side. Men's apparel is very limited. read more

This store has tons clothing & home items. Not too far from Downtown. Lots of parking. Clothes are mostly all used, few new w/tags & some designer-but a needle in a haystack. Yes mostly all old vintage & middle age to Sr. Citizens clothing (I'm a old fart) but disagree w/older reviews stating they're not cute, maybe back then, but now they seem to be getting a bit more vintage & cute granny & grandad tops the hipsters can pull off wearing just because their young & everything including poo poo looks great on them. It's a great organization better than Goodwill. They repurpose lives by training, giving opportunities/jobs to those in need, give clothes that don't sell to those less fortunate and in dire need. What makes them different than Goodwill is the low thrifty prices that people today can afford. It's run by the LDS Org-Latter Day Saints, Mormons & employees are very polite & professional (unlike certain Goodwills like Winnetka who are completely rude jerks ALSO, FYI, they have a sign at front & only entrance stating they must check in ALL backpacks & large bags in and have a employee there manning the post & watching your personal items - Clearly stated in a Notice posted for all to see, Common Sense-all other stores should use this as a guide to business practice & not erroneously policing based on race or appearance) Its very clean, very well organized easy to find size by plastic sizing dividers & doesn't look messy nor smells like " sobaccos" (Lol armpits) Why didn't I give it 5 Stars you say? Like the bins of Goodwill, same holds true here it's not for the faint of heart- some very Rude customers there be like "COMO PULGAS EN UN PERRO" (like fleas on a dog)- just chaos when new items come out unto the floor. And lots of older ladies some with babies & others just hovering over my shoulder to see what I'm looking at, no manners but then again they're just old folks rumbling through- no rhyme or reason - Just be patient. read more

This place is a dump, like shopping in an alley. They specialize in crap. Plain and simple. The people that shop here are wacky. I got ran over by a lady with her stroller with no baby in it, but filled with fruit. Unless the baby was under the fruit which was definitely a possibility. She got both my feet with no looking back. Then there was this dude that walked like a crab. He traveled sideways forward in an angle. Very confusing. He was trying to get past me and just pushed me out of the way. Normally i would have not even been in his way, but his odd direction of travel was hard to anticipate thus putting me in his impact zone. Again, no excuse me or sorry. Damn these people ! ! ! Ahh yes, Deseret Industries. A wonderful thrift store operated by the the good old LDS church. The store is kind of middle of nowhere and it's suspiciously clean but this if you ever find yourself driving through the industrial hood of LA, I wouldn't advise against taking a quick detour here. Deseret offers pretty much everything: huge selection of clothing, shoes, books, dvds, videotapes, some electronics, furniture, housewares, toys, board games, seasonal decorations, records, tapes and the kitchen sink. The first floor is completely dedicated to their clothing and the second everything else ( yes, the kitchen sink) Since the store is pretty big and it could take you a while to go through everything, I would suggest heading either downstairs or upstairs. Although I didn't end up buying anything I was pretty impressed with the videotape section as well as the entire clothing department. Deseret industries is a LDS operation and although they did have a lot of books, a good chunk of them were religious so if that's not your thing I might not waste your time looking there. There is also a combination of both new and old stuff here. I saw a lot of stuff that was hardly used and a lot of older things downstairs that must have leaked from some time capsule from old Sears across the street. If you're looking for something newer, there is something for you or if you're like me and like that older jazz, you'll find something ( though probably downstairs). This place is freaky organized. I can say with confidence that I've never seen a thrift store as we'll organized as this particular Deseret Industries. If you were to stroll up the top floor of this store you probably wouldn't even know it was a thrift store! The bottom floor that houses everything that isn't clothing doesn't have the same charm as the clothing section but it's still really impressive. If you're going into the store in a rush and want to find something in your size, you'll be in and out very quickly. Also, all of the clothing seemed really clean. I'm for serious! oh, and there are dressing rooms The prices are also excellent. Most of the clothing is no more than a few dollars and from my observations, nothing was overpriced. Some of the items like videotapes have flat prices but for the most part, everything is individually and clearly labeled. Everyone at the store seemed friendly and there were also a lot of people working there and so while it was busy on Saturday, I didn't observe any long lines or angry bargain hunters. For me, this is a three star joint that I'm probably not going to frequent but this place really does it up for a thrift store and it would be unfair to give it anything less than a four star review. Great thrift shop. Everything is well organized and clean, and all of the products are in good condition. If you're looking for unique, vintage type clothing finds, you won't really find that here (in the men's section anyway, I can't speak for the woman's). Most of the clothing is fairly mainstream clothing that seems in better condition and less used than other thrift stores. What really makes Deseret Stand out is that they have an ENTIRE lower level dedicated to furniture, glassware, electronics, hats and misc items. There's some really nice pieces of furniture there for great prices. For example, there was a multi-leveled coffee table for 15 bucks. The two times I've been here the upper floor always seemed fairly mellow and calm, but the downstairs was always bustling. I think they do these weekly specials or bring out new items at specific times because the second time I was there everyone was sitting around waiting for something. Then at some point someone pushed a cart out from the back and everyone swarmed it. It looked like it was just random accessories to me so I'm not sure what the buzz was about but maybe they had a special on the price. read more

Not much to find in the way of furnishings and household items but prices are pretty reasonable

Very inexpensive, very busy. The first level features home goods and some of the best deals were the games -- $1. I have a set of mismatched China and I got A beautiful, single vintage Noritake plate for $1. I collect Edward Gorey book covers and I found one I did not have for .50 cents. I got a brand new roll of Holiday ribbon for $1 with the original $9.99 price tag -- I believe it is from Joanne's which would prolly sell it for half off so I still got a great deal.  If you're expecting, there's a ton of maternity clothes. Cons -- I would estimate that 90% of clothes and shoes were very well worn and from Target and similar stores. Very poor selection of purses. There is no jewelry case. The staff is super nice. It is a Mormon based store so there are a ton of LDS books and games. read more

This is my first time here after an appointment in Los Angeles. It is at a decent location next to an old Sears building. Great parking, nice taco truck at the curb to grab lunch if you need a bite to eat before you go in. They have two different levels, I only went to the top level because I was on a time crunch. Their clothes are a well organized, sorted, and they offered quality goods. They didn't have a lot of shoes, but again with they did have were in fashion, great prices and nice styles. All of the associates and the manager was super friendly and helpful. He pointed me in the right direction and even gave me some advice on a coupon.
