Very nice place! I go whenever I can, since I'm still furnishing my apartment after moving in not long ago. I also am getting some clothing, especially for Church right now. Plus I always check out the books, and they have a nice selection. I usually pick up any Foreign Language Book of Mormons I can find, and sometimes an English one too. They are centrally located and the staff is very kind and helpful. I do recommend it, and I also recommend it on my job to our guests. read more

I would give this place 5 stars but the attitude of the cashier makes me feel so uncomfortable. I get it, it's part of the church and yes I have tattoos, piercings and BLACK/HISPANIC but that doesn't give you ANY right to talk to me the way you did sir. You know the tone you used and you were just curious to why I wanted to ruin my body. How about you mind your own business sir and maybe you'll live a fuller and happier life. BUT! The older man in the collectibles and book area is an extremely nice man and is the only reason I will ever be back in that store. I AM NO ONE TO YOU SIR. I love "DI," you simply can't keep me away. This is the thrift store of thrift stores. Run by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, you know, the Mormons, Deseret Industries supplies it's stores by tax-deductible donations. Growing up, when we were pretty dirt poor and could have really used their services, there was a stigma about shopping here, embarrassment, perhaps. Only the poor people shopped here (so I thought,) so it was social suicide if you were caught stepping foot in here. Stigmas be damned, pride swallowed, economy tanked. Now shopping on the cheap is oh-so-chic. When the automatic doors open, my heart sings! The world seems right again! There are deals to be had! Deals! I have been shopping here so many times, that now I have a system of working my way through the aisles. Start at collectibles, onto books, over to dishes and kitchenware, toys for the ankle biters, the "yard" for outdoor and over-sized items, then hit up the toddler clothes and maybe over to women's jeans. I've saved oodles on baby and boys clothes alone. My kitchen is eclectic and unique, the vintage items I now have are one-of-a-kind. Do yourself a favor and run, don't walk, to the Centerville Deseret Industries. Rarely have I been disappointed or walked away empty handed, which could be a bad thing in that it's contributing to my hoarding habits. On the bright side, when I do a big spring cleaning or wardrobe cleanse, everything gets sent back to the DI and I get a nice little tax-deductible receipt. read more

This is a GREAT thrift store. Very clean, almost feels as though you're shopping at a Ross Dress for Less than a Thrift Store. While I am not a member of the church, I admire and respect the community involvement found with Deseret industries, and the job training that is offered. The selection in this store is HUGE. I was there for 90 minutes with my husband and I only got through looking at the women's clothes! I had to return to look at the kids clothes and housewares and such. My husband, who is typically the one who purchases less, found a LOT of things he liked. I would like to see a larger Plus Size selection, should they receive those donations, expanding that would be delightful. They also offer new furniture that I believe is made especially for them. It is high quality! This location is very convenient too; it is near a Target and a Wal-Mart, and there is food nearby as well. I will definitely come back any time I am visiting family here! read more

I came expecting this location to be a little better than Layton but was letdown by the limited selection here and marked up prices. I was able to find a few things (frames & a few Halloween decor pieces) but other than that nothing spectacular abt this store. Cashier named Maria may need some more formal training. I noticed she greeted another man who walked in before me then doesn't even say hello or bat an eyelash my way. She also happened to be the only cashier who was available by the time I was ready to check out. She then asked how I wanted my items bagged to which I requested to have the frames wrapped so they don't break. She asked me again while I was paying and I noticed my items were still not bagged so I ended up bagging my own stuff so she could help the next customer...which I didn't mind but she was super slow. read more

The fact that you have to wait in long lines to DONATE your stuff so this corporation can SELL your stuff blows me away. They're a $100 billion corporation and they can add a few more days and more people to take your stuff? read more

I'm a firm believer of stopping by DI first to see if they have similar items that you were going to go shopping at a regular store. I donated all my stuff and then I recycle by buying other merchandise at DI. I go here every Friday after work and I call it my therapy! read more

Waste not want not. I've been both a DI donor as well as customer in the past. We were in town and needed some warmer inexpensive gear at the last minute. Inside things were super organized, clean. Not quite the DI I remember when I was a kid. My husband was able to buy a North Face hoodie that was in pretty good condition for $4 and I bought a Wildcats tracksuit for $6. I also couldn't resist a Denny's polo shirt uniform. We left happy customers. So whether you're donating or buying, check out what the DI has to offer. For what it is, it's a five star place. I've never seen a Goodwill is quite such nice condition. read more

I parked and walked an item over to hand to an employee. He took it and said thanks. A store manager came out and yelled at me for not driving through. I walked toward the store and he stopped me and told me I had to move my car that I didn't park right. I had parked a little crooked but I was ON the line, not over it. It was 10:00am and most of the parking lot was empty. Not real good PR for the store. Time to donate to Big Brother. read more

I go to and work at DI. The people that say they are expensive really don't really understand what is going on. Although some people refuse to buy a t-shirt at 4.00, keep in mind that is very inexpensive and that the money you spend on that shirt will be donated to humanitarian programs and job finding programs so that people will not be a drain on society but instead be productive, serving individuals. The profit that is made is put directly back into the community that way and by paying the employees of DI their paychecks. I love the DI book selection and buy miscellaneous gadgets there. Sometimes I am able to resell what I buy for a profit. That is a plus. read more
