This is one of the best Plato's closets that I've been to. I usually find something I like every time that I go in! It's super organized by brands, colors, and of course sizes. They also have a wind variety of clothes and a huge selection of really good active wear. The owner is super friendly & always ready to help out if you need! This store is amazing and we have a Plato's in our town that is great, but not as wonderful as this store. What makes this store so remarkable is the staff. This place is not honest in pricing items at all and will lie about how they price them as well. I was told they go based off of websites like Goat and StockX. I turned in 15+ shoes ranging from Nike (Camo - Foam Posites and other nike shoes), , Adidas (Yeezy Boost 750), Converse, Vanz, Pumas and Designer shoes (Balenciaga). Also, turned in clothes from shirts, pants, and a leather jacket. Lastly also a supreme backpack. With all of this being said they will also give you numerous prices by calling you and giving you a price then making you wait then will change the price next time they call so be careful. With all the items I turned in they first priced everything at $890 then gave me a final price of $600.30 only. I had just got out of the hospital I've been at, and was hoping to get some extra change by selling brand new clothes I had, which are all clothes I've always got paid out for. I came into the store because of an advertised sale price on the road of buy 1 get 1 50% off. the sign had no exclusions, no limitations listed. After I purchased 16 items and was only given a 25% discount on 2 of the items. I contacted the store owner and Him and his wife laughed at me on the phone and said they do not have to honor their sale prices. They have a way better selection than the Taylorsville store so I'll give them that. But their customer service is horrible. I came in to sell and I was in the store for over an hour and nobody called my name or texted me to let me know they were done with my clothes. I finally came to the counter and asked for my bag and one of the girls was trying not to laugh when they couldn't find my name in the system. The workers are just so unprofessional, what is funny about that? They finally found my bag and the girl that went through my bag had left so instead of reviewing my clothes again (I didn't bring that much) or calling the girl, they just assumed that she didn't take anything and I didn't get anything for my clothes. They were also selling a pair of bikini bottoms (no top) for $60. You read that right, SIXTY dollars. Just absurd for a secondhand clothing store. read more

I've been here 3 times over a 2 year span and I will not be returning. Every single time I've gone there have been mounds and mounds and more mounds of clothes all over. Completely covering the cash registers, floors, all over under the racks. They have a lot of junk and it shows because they obviously don't sell stuff very quickly- it's like an episode of hoarders in here. I drove from A pretty good distance to donate my clothes, I arrived at 7:55...they close at 9. So I walk in with my bag of clothes and the employee looks at me and says are you here to sell (as if it is not obvious...) I say yes and she was like oh sorry we stop doing buys around 8:00...well it's 7:55 so. I told her I drove kinda far and she had zero sympathy and was like well we have stores all over Utah. Very unprofessional, dishonest, and disorganized business. I had several bins of clothes I was donating but had a few items (Lululemon, Levi's, and a pair of designer shoes my sister gifted me) that were new, with tags, and/or in good condition. So I figured what the heck why not see if I can take those five items to Plato's Closet? I literally got $42 for 3 brand new Lululemon items with tags that were each priced between $110-$169 and new Levi's. Oh yes, and they resold each for $60+. I then got $40 for the pair of shoes. But I didn't care about the grossly overpriced items in store /underpaying people for items until I got some threatening voicemails from the owner two weeks later wanting $40 back... I was polite and just offered to venmo her the money because I honestly don't care. Interesting though that two full weeks after an employee who looked at the items for over an hour and offered me $40 is not in trouble but the customer who's trusting the business is? Word to the wise just take your stuff to Goodwill or Deseret Industries - this place isn't worth it. read more

This is by far the worst place I've ever been in. There were piles of clothes ALL OVER the store!! So many bags shoved under the racks they were overflowing. Shoes were stacked so high they were falling onto the floor. The counters were so full you couldn't even see them and the cashier was sitting on top of them to tag items. The entire back corner was mounds of clothes and it smelled worse than a thrift store. So many items that we walked in and almost immediately walked out. Well worth it to make the drive to the one in Layton, where it's clean, organized, and you're greeted by nice employees. read more

This location has quick service and I feel like they purchase a lot more items and styles from people which in turn works out for everyone because there is a better selection of items to choose from! I brought 3 full bags of items in, of which had already been through and another Plato's didn't want any of it, however this Plato's took a few things which made it worth while! Took in well over $600 worth of brand new, name brand clothing (lululemon, anthropologie, free people) in pristine condition; they offered me $14 in cash after looking at only TWO items in the bag. The entire store was cluttered, dirty, and smelled of animal urine. I wouldn't recommend going here to my worst enemy. Disgusting store, and even more disgusting staff and management. read more

Drove pretty far to come donate my clothes here and when I got there (10:15) the store wasn't even open. The lights were out, clothes were all over the store and nobody was there. Assuming one of the workers didn't show up for their morning shift but still... bad service and the store has wayy too much going on. Clothes all over the place and there is no order to any of it. As someone who loves shopping second hand, I go here quite often and mostly enjoy it a lot. There's always cool oversized t shirts, some jeans and cool shoes for cheap, everyone is relatively nice and friendly but a couple major points I have to bring up that constantly bothers me about this location is their general lack of size diversity. Their brandy Melville, John Galt, urban outfitters and their other trendy brand selections lacks ANY sizes above XS-S with the rarity being a medium.. my example being their size 0 section has an entire aisle while a size 12-14 has maybe a quarter of an aisle if not less some days.. And the other minor concern is how little I get even in store credit when I bring in items.. There's a lot of room for improvement here but it's still fun to look. read more

This store is exceptionally cluttered, dirty, and the smell reflects it. I'd stopped here with two huge bins of clothing (American Eagle, zara, asos, express, Nike, etc) so, average trendy mall brand clothing. I don't often expect platos to take much, but I've been here twice now and the first time the girl was very sweet but very much lowballed me on offers. The second time the employee was rude, abrupt, and didn't even look at my bins of clothing. I was there for maybe five minutes and she had informed me that nothing I had was what they were looking for. I consign for a living, so I'm used to shopping around for clothing items for my employer and I was extremely disappointed both times I stopped in to find bins or bags of clothing shoved under the racks, strewn over the counters or the FLOOR (which I found quite disturbing), stained or torn clothing being sold, or clothing marked much higher than an average second hand sale should be. Just because an item is new with tag or considered "desirable" doesn't mean it should be marked at that retail price, especially if you're going to only be giving the people who sell it to you a few dollars for the product. It should be a fair price both to the seller and to the buyer. I would very much recommend the drive to the Plato's closet in Layton, or checking out uptown cheapskate in either Layton or salt lake city. Staff at these locations are professional and nice, they give fair prices on clothing, and these stores are clean and organized (even when plato's in Layton is PACKED full of clothing, the floors are swept and clean, everything is organized, and they sort through clothing quickly). read more

This store is diiiiiirty! All the stuff is in very used condition. I didn't want to buy any of it. I walked in to the empty store. The teenage girls working the store didn't have great customer service AT ALL. Before I even looked around or they started my buy, they asked me if I wanted in-store credit or cash-- this seems weird to ask at first and like it would bias their buying. I wanted cash! I waited an hour (no one was in line in front of me) and they only gave me $17 for a huge bin of on-trend and nicely taken care of clothing. In the end, one of the workers said in an unpleasant tone, "uhhhm we are going to need for you to take those clothes as we don't donate anymore." So strange since I wasn't planning on leaving my bin there or donating it through the store. Go to the Plato's closet near Draper instead. They are clean, chipper, and buy a lot! read more

This store is always so much fun! They have different clothes, boots, jewelry, and sunglasses every time I go in. I needed summer clothes for a cruise in the middle of the winter, and Plato's had plenty of shorts and tank tops to choose from. Every other store had only winter clothes out. It's clean, and the staff are friendly. Can't wait to go back again another day and check out the bargains!! read more

I went in with a huge bag of winter clothes that didn't fit me anymore. I had a BURTON coat and snow pants, some gloves and some shoes. They took only my burton coat because everything else was "not in style" OUCH! And gave me $10 for a BURTON coat. Honestly, I don't like this place at all. Granted, sometimes their product is good, but I have to sift through A LOT to find something. Their staff is friendly, but seems to be a little inexperienced. It's also not that organized, & a lot of their product is outdated and ragged, something you would use to wipe your bathroom floor with... Plus, I've heard bad rumors about the way they buy their clothes... Maybe I'm a little biased, but I just don't have good experience with this store. The layout itself makes me reluctant to even bother looking through the racks. I recommend Uptown Cheapskate! So much better, and more organized!
