The guard wasn't sure we could stay there because my husband isn't retired military so our adventure began. Found the park. It is nice and someplace we would stay. Caution! After getting lost on the base and our encounter with a different guard station we finally found where to go to get a base permit. So, unless you are active military or retired you can't stay here.

They have paddle boards and kayaks to borrow, and a suspension bridge you can go across (nope) and probably jump off of (that would be my grandson). The tennis court looks good enough, with a basket ball hoop at one end. They have lovely pavillion type structures at the side of the lake with a lovely view of the mountains. We could have stayed anywhere at any cost in the fascinating and beautiful Owens Valley but chose Ignacio and Irene's place and its excellent value. . Even after decades of traveling the West, the East Sierra region escaped our notice until recently. US 395 is one of the nation's best drives, the history of the Owens Valley is fascinating, Whitney Portal is stunning to the point of near-disbelief, Owens "Lake" is INCREDIBLY photogenic (see photo), Sonora Pass (CA 108) north of Yosemite is excellent, and Yosemite is...well, uh...Yosemite. Lake Olancha is a perfect base camp and stopping point for exploration of the area. . Our cabin was spotless. Scenery was superior. Ignacio and Irene are very friendly, prompt, articulate, and ethical - the kind of people you want do business with. Other guests at the park spoke very well of them. Amazing views, a short walk to some waterfalls and streams, full hook ups on both sides (EG: you can pull in on either direction). The only 2 knocks I have; the sites seem like they could be a little tight if you don't camp with a friend (and have 2 spots together) to get 1 combined campsite. And the terrain isn't really level so there is some adjusting and leveling to be done on your rig. But either way 5 out of 5. We will 100% be back on a later date.

They are friendly, funny, witty, and genuinely enjoy making every camper feel like family. You can tell they love what they do, and it shows in every detail. They go above and beyond to keep everyone entertained with rock painting for the kids, pool activities, ice cream socials, music, pizza nights, chicken wings, and so much more. There is always something fun happening, and it's easy to see why families love coming back. The shower facilities deserve a special mention--they are absolutely beautiful and exceptionally clean. Honestly, they are some of the cleanest campground showers I've ever seen! The fish-cleaning station was another pleasant surprise. It was well-maintained, convenient, and spotless. One of the things we appreciated most was how safe and peaceful the campground felt. Walking around at any time was comfortable, and when quiet hours began, they truly were quiet. Had not stopped for about ten years but this time I again found the park a nice stop. Roadways are dirt, the pool is not heated, but the staff are very helpful and friendly. Most of the back in spots are 30 amp as they are part of the original park. They have added 7 new drive thru sites with 50 amp and water. No sewer hookup but there is a dump station. The restrooms and showers are old but spotlessly maintained and very clean! Lots of hot water for your shower. This park accepts Passport America so it makes a great discount on the already very fair rates. Easy access to either SR 58 or SR 14. The property looked in better shape than it did the last visit. Grass around a number of sites and the sites clean and level.

I would highly recommend you have a self contained rig as they do close their bathrooms at 1030p which is a bit odd. We were here rail failing the "hill," so it was a perfect spot for us.
