Desert Hills Coffee coffee shop located in Chandler. It is a little hidden and easy to miss, but I recommend going out of your way to find it. The service was great, there was one person working the morning I went in and she was fast with making drinks!!! When ordering you can either order with the barista or through a tablet. I ordered with the tablet, which was cool because it really helped show the options available and any alterations that could be made on your drink. I ordered a Red Rock Chai with Oatmilk (half sweet and extra hot). The chai spicing was phenomenal and extremely balanced. If you arent the biggest fan of super sweet drinks, I would definitely recommend that you order it half sweet or even less sweet. The half sweet was still a little too sweet for me. The shop was setup in a way that could host book clubs or large group gatherings, and the shop promotes that it is book club friendly. Bought the coffee flight (you could also do matcha or both) and was not disappointed. The flight had 3 coffees you can choose and it was 12 or 14 ounces of coffee which is more than other flights I have had. The lattes are very sweet and milky. If you like less sweet just ask her to cut back. Thus is a Black owned business and it is very comfortable to work at bit. In the back there are 5 or so small businessses including nail salon so you can get great coffee and cute nails. read more

My friend and I are always on the hunt for another coffee shop to try, and this one did not disappoint! We were torn between coffee and matcha so I was super excited they offer a mix and match flight. It was delicious! The matcha tasted high quality and the coffees weren't too sweet. The Berry Zen matcha was delicious, the flavor reminded me of Nesquick's Strawberry milk in the best way possible. The Coconut Breeze matcha was perfectly coconut-y but not artificial tasting. The Caramel Cloud coffee was buttery and has just the right sweetness. And finally the Pumpkin Spice coffee was perfectly spiced, not too sweet and very creamy. The gal working was super sweet, greeted us right away, and despite being the only barista, got through a bunch of orders super quick and really made our flight look great! It's a co-work style space with some meeting rooms and tiny office spaces in the back. I had the match unsweetened and it was good. The little turkey wrap was good enough to fill my hunger. One of my new favorite cafes! This is a Black-owned coffee shop that opened just three months ago, and I love supporting small businesses like this. They truly deserve it. The space is perfect for students: plenty of tables, lots of outlets, and I had no trouble finding a spot to work on a Sunday afternoon. The baristas were so sweet and chatty, even recommending their most popular drinks. I tried their flight ($16), which lets you mix and match any four drinks from the menu. I went with two matchas and two coffees. The standouts for me were the Berry Zen matcha and the Caramel Cloud coffee. The Berry Zen, a strawberry-infused matcha, was refreshing and not too sweet, definitely my favorite. The Caramel Cloud was just as good with the perfect touch of sweetness. My friend ordered the cookie crumble bagel, which comes covered in cookie butter with bananas, and they really enjoyed it. This cafe is an ideal spot to socialize or get some work done. I was excited to try this cafe when I first saw it, and I'm glad I did! There is plenty of seating available, making this a great place to get some work done. One thing I always check for when going to a cafe is how many outlets they have available, and this cafe is not lacking in that department! There's lots of outlets so your laptops and iPads can stay charged during your stay. Their menu consists of a good amount of coffees and matchas all with unique flavors. I found out about Nu Café through their TikToks promoting the grand opening and had to stop by since I work nearby. The space is beautiful, the vibe is warm and welcoming, and the staff was super kind. When I asked for a recommendation, the barista suggested exactly what I was already eyeing--so we were clearly on the same page! OMG! You guys need to come and try this charming coffee shop that opened only a few months ago. I got the sweet dreams lattee which was incredibly smooth and flavorful. I had a hard time not drinking it in one sip it was so good. Despite having a large crowd they sevred us our drinks in just a few minutes. The shop itself was also really large with lots of places to sit. This is an AMAZING coffee shop to work remotely from!! It's very spacious with large tables, tons of outlets, and there's even a conference room. I reserved the conference room (seats 6) to make a lil space for my friends and I to do some spooky crafts and have tasty bevs. The Nu-Tela was excellent. Generally, the drinks were sweet but not overwhelmingly so. You could still actually taste the espresso, which I appreciate. The shop itself has such an immaculate vibe, very chill, more modern but still inviting. The staff was absolutely amazing and patient. I love that the menu for food and drinks is diverse but not huge and overwhelming. They also apparently host community events sometimes because there was a sketch sort of gathering in the main cafe area when I came in. It looked so cute. I will 1000% be visiting again. Some accessibility notes: The cafe itself is well spaced out. I'm a big girl, 3x/4x and had no issues getting around. There's bench seating available, which is nice to see. The seats in the conference room itself were big booty friendly, sturdy and comfortable and they swirl! The bathroom was spacious and had handlebars, from what I recall. Ya love to see it. Nu Cafe is fabulous. I visit often from CA and always looking for good coffee spots as alternatives to the endless chains in AZ. I found Nu Cafe on Yelp and was drawn in by the reviews. They did not disappoint. The coffee was excellent quality. The drinks were made perfectly. In two visits I was served by 5 different people and they were all helpful, informed and welcoming. And the environment is amazing a perfect blend of clean, crisp, bright, great layout, and easy to work in. I want to be fair here because I love small businesses and want me criticism to be constructive. I'm also aware I am very much a coffee snob. I'd go 3.5/5 if I could but we'll round up for the benefit of the doubt as this is still an up and coming business. Upon walking in, we were greeted with a very warm welcome and given ample time to review the menu before being asked what we'd like to order. The barista on register was very sweet- she complimented me on my pregnancy and immediately mentioned that they offer decaf if I wanted it (courteous, but your girl needed caffeine that day). The conversation, thoughtfulness, and intentionality was great, so customer service-wise, our experience was 10/10. My friend is a Dutch girly through an through and loves her scorched beans and dessert drinks, so her iced sf vanilla latte met every need she had. I had the pregnancy coffee ick so although I'd typically prefer black drip or a simple latte, I went with an iced oat milk dirty vanilla chai to hit a chai craving that day. After asking about the chai mix they use and being a barista myself, I knew the portions it calls for are too sweet for my liking, so I asked the barista to make the drink half sweet (the drink on the menu also comes standard with vanilla added, so I REALLY wanted it half sweet knowing that they would be adding vanilla syrup to the already sweetened chai and sweetened oat milk). The drinks came out a few minutes later and, like I said, my friend loved hers so if you're into Dutch/SBucks, you'll be just dandy. But mine, unfortunately, was way too sweet for me to drink. I'm hoping they just forgot to make it half sweet, so that the standard isn't actually double the amount of sugar that was in mine, but regardless, it was overwhelmingly sugary. I had about 4 sips to try to adapt and grow a liking for it, but just couldn't get there. It was the kind of sweet that tingles the back of your gums. I could taste that espresso had been added, but it was so faint that either the shot was way over extracted and watered down that it was overpowered, or the flavor and chai added just masked it almost entirely. Due to this, I can't provide much commentary on the espresso itself. The machine on bar was a brand I was unfamiliar with, and I couldn't gauge where they source their beans from solely based off the menu and what I could see of the bar. This shop aesthetic is cute and chic, and it appears as though it wants to be regarded as specialty coffee over something similar to Dutch/sbucks, so if ownership is willing, I'd highly recommend brewing and barista classes through IBCA/Patrick O'Malley over at Infusion Coffee & Tea in Tempe. The training is well worth the price and reward. Best of luck to this business! Hoping to come back at a later date to see improvement and growth because I want to see this black, female owned business thrive. read more
