Complaint on staff that just stands there with his paper in hand && not intervene when a student is assaulting another student!! This situation of bullying is an ongoing situation && nothing seems to be resolving within the school principals, counselor, security, etc I'm a very concerned parent of a child that is being continued to being bully on your school campus With no follow ups or return of phone call/emails Investigations && follow ups are important && for days to pass with no communication is very disturbing My daughter has been attacked from behind 3 times in less than 2 months of school being in session && it seems the staff at Dessert Oasis HS has no control over their students Signing a no contact contract obviously means nothing to these kids && policies need to be taken differently It is ridiculous on how you talk to different principals && staff of the HS && they all have different ways of trying to solve or say to this situation I don't understand why? When a parent is dropping their child off to school for education && is getting texts && calls from their child that she wants to be picked up because she is being attacked, I feel the school apparently is unsafe && not doing their duty to have children in their hands What do you have to say? Apparently, this school does not find bullying a serious issue! I had to hear from my child that she was being bullied by a male student and I did not get a call from the school because she told me that they were going to call her into the deans office. I had to call the deans office myself regarding the issue. I left voicemails and called many times. I did not get a call back. My child told me that her and the bully had to sign a contract saying that they were not to get in contact with each other. Is that all the school is gonna do? I called again and spoke with the deans secretary and requested a meeting with the fellow student and his parents and was told they would not do because it would cause more drama! What do you think about this? This boy should not get away with bullying. He's gonna end up bullying others like he has been (so I've been told) I feel this school only takes serious precautions when it comes to dress code policies. They do a count day in the district and fired my kids science teacher because there supposedly wasn't funds for him. They moved all the kids to another class so that teacher had close to 50 kids. This is a great, new high school in the southwest serving Mountains Edge and surrounding areas. The campus itself is beautiful - the architecture is unique and it does not look like the other "standard brick" high schools elsewhere in Las Vegas. We get a New principle every year and every year the school gets more stupid bathrooms don't even have mirrors or trash cans in stalls for tampons and pads/ every elective has a fee for 45$ but the money u pay doesn't even go to that elective because the pricinciple splits it with classes without fees like PE so so dumb !!!! i am a student! the school is "cleaning up" by stealing class funds and putting it into beautification efforts. the arts have no bugdet meanwhile the sports teams are getting new feilds and jerseys. it looks beautiful but there is no advancement for our classes. we have 5 months left and my art teachers cannot let us paint because there is no money left to buy new paints and supplies. the desks are falling apart and our bathrooms don't have mirrors. the photo classes don't have enough cameras. our teachers are getting too stressed because of all the schedule mess. do not bring your kid here just because it looks presentable. it's a mess on the inside... read more

Desert Oasis High School is a sickening, terrible, and corrupt. This message is to all parents/guardians of children who currently attend or are planning to attend this high school. I had attended this school from 2014 to 2017. I would say we had a decent staff and administrative system. Yes we were one of the first classes that had the most fights in a week and were on the news for something the students called fight week. At that time we were struggling with cyber bullying and bullying but the staff actually tried to stop it. Yes it does sound bad but it wasn't as bad as now. The administration has either fired or let go of older experienced teachers who have been there for years, and hiring new inexperienced so called teachers and staff to sit around and do nothing. The "teachers" do not help with questions and situations that the students have. The students are told to figure it out themselves or to just read what something says. They also do not enforce what they say such as no bullying, ask questions, speak up let your voice be heard, etc. Very disappointing to know they are not helping our future generation to succeed but fail. They also state that their funds are low but yet spend thousands of dollars on making the school "look nice", hoping the school will receive good reviews and higher ratings. Yes, the teachers will tell you they love the kids but behind parents backs they will tell their students differently. hi im a student that's attending D.O im a freshmen here. the school isn't the best in my opinion. during my p.e class we are supposed to wear shorts and a short sleeve t-shirt. in the warm months i was fine with it. during December-February (current) we are still supposed to wear shorts and t-shirt while being outside. it's around 35-50 ish degrees and the schools pe teachers are still having us wear shorts and a t-shirt. and, when we don't because it's literally freezing outside where it gets us literally shivering and shaking, the teachers take off points from your grade. this is absurd. im literally failing p.e just because im refusing to wear shorts and a t-shirt in 35-50 degree weather where it snows on some days. i had a perfect grade during the warmer months because I wore the clothes. me and a lot of my friends are losing points and our grades are dropping over the most dumbest reason. my own mother disagrees with this schools behavior on this. also there's fights like every week that myself im worried to go to school. some of the teachers are so rude too. bullying is way too much here too. bathrooms are so nasty I can't even go in there. floors are really gross. have seen a lot of bugs around. so many nasty threats to the school. hope the school can do better.and care for their students at least a little.‍‍ read more

We've had a great experience with DOHS! We have a son who graduated from DO in 2017 and a daughter there now. I can't say enough good things about the staff - particularly the administration, counselors, honors and AP teachers, and the coaches. My only minor knock is the turnover in Spanish teachers. I see some negative reviews and I think it's all about the effort you put in. If you work to be part of the school community and encourage kids to participate in extracurricular activities, you'll get a lot out of Desert Oasis High School. read more

This school was fantastic. Loved attending and loved many of the teachers. Some of the teachers who stood out to me as outstanding teachers who went out of their way to make sure that my education was the best it could possible be were Mr. Streets and Mr. Keating. Both of them treated me like I was adult and both respected me like I was a friend. The only thing that soured my experience here was my second year Spanish teacher, Ms. Barbasso. She seemed to be working against me rather than for me and I felt like I had to work against her to receive a good grade. She was more of an obstacle to my education than she was a way for me to obtain it. Her teaching methods are crude and reflect that of an elementary level teacher. Presentations included memorized passages rather than learning to functionally use the language. While I would love to rate five starts, I cannot, simply because of her. read more
