My act tutor always asks me to meet him here for our sessions. It feels inappropriate but I just really want to get into a good college.

My son has been attending Greenspun Middle School for about one year and is currently in 6th grade…read more We moved here from California, and the difference in how schools are run is shocking, in the worst way. Clark County School District, and Greenspun specifically, handles student behavior very poorly. My son has witnessed more fights at this school in one year than he ever did in California. Bullying is a serious issue here, and the way staff, teachers, and administration respond to it is unacceptable. For example, an 8th grade student poured orange juice over my son's head. My son did exactly what he was taught, he reported it to staff instead of reacting. After speaking directly with the principal, Ms. Hermes, it sounded like this 8th grade student would face little to no consequences. However, it was made very clear that if my son had defended himself, he would be the one in trouble. This teaches kids to accept being mistreated while punishing them for standing up for themselves, which does not prepare them for the real world. This same pattern shows up in the classroom. My son recently got in trouble with Ms. Walsh, his math teacher, for raising his voice. My son admitted to me that he did raise his voice, and I appreciate his honesty. He explained that during free time another student was repeatedly giving him a hard time and even threw a backpack, yet that student was not disciplined. Ms. Walsh did not put a stop to the behavior immediately, allowing the situation to escalate. While my son should not have raised his voice, it is easy to understand his frustration when disruptive behavior is ignored and the child reacting is the only one punished. Students are either ignored when they report issues or immediately punished without any real accountability. Teachers frequently raise their voices when it isn't necessary, instead of stopping bad behavior the first time it happens. It feels more like a power struggle than effective classroom management. Academically, things are not much better. My son has struggled with his grades, and after meeting with all of his teachers, one teacher, Mr. Hoffman made the comment, "The dad's job is to work and the son's job is to do his own work." That statement alone showed a complete lack of support, accountability, or willingness to help a struggling student. I also personally sat in on one of Mr. Hoffman's classes. Before the classroom doors even opened, while waiting outside in the hallway, I overheard multiple students using the N word. This is especially concerning given that over 80% of the student population is Caucasian. There was no staff present to intervene out there , and it was clear this type of language is tolerated. From my own observation, Mr. Hoffman does the bare minimum, assigns work, sits at his desk, and provides little guidance or engagement. I witnessed this firsthand. Some classes don't even have assigned seating, which only adds to distractions and behavior problems. Most work is done on computers, yet there is no typing or basic computer skills class, setting students up to struggle even more. Overall, this school lacks structure, accountability, student support, and effective leadership. Bullying, racial language, and disruptive behavior are not addressed consistently, and administration, under the leadership of Ms. Hermes fails to protect students who follow the rules and report issues appropriately. I would not recommend Greenspun Middle School to any parent who cares about their child's safety, education, or emotional well being.

He was pushed into the stall and placed in a headlock in the bathroom by another child, he was kicked in his "private" parts during early childcare, he was punched in his "privates" during lunch, he had a basketball thrown at his head at recess, and had his chair pulled out from under him when standing to ask a question in his class. He's not perfect! They never notified us of any of the above incidents. Does he have aggression issues. Yes. At time. Because of the environment they allow on this campus. They can call him a liar, or note he has aggression issues, but if your child is younger and struggles with emotional control this is not the place to be. I should have noticed it earlier. Between the teacher turn over rate-suspicious-, the lack of discipline, lack of timely notification when your child does something wrong, and lack of notifying parents of trauma to the head and "private parts," I would not recommend. They have no real counselors. If you're not from money, all other parents and students treat you like dirt. My son was called trash and poor. Kind of hard for a second grader to process. Keep your kids away. It's just a bunch of drama.

You may be wondering why I gave this school such a low rating. I don't go to this school now since…read moreI left after two months being there. (I left in October 2025). Here's why, for context before I went to Tarkanian I was actually in a small private school with amazing kids and teachers loved that school. However, my parents needed me to find a new school to go to. The two school's we applied for were this one and another. I got into this school first. Before I started Tarkanian I thought this was actually going to be a good school, but holy shit god had other plans. When I first entered and observed the school for the first week. I immediately noticed some huge red flags. First of all, the student's behavior was absolutely terrible although there were some who were actually pretty nice, but most of their behavior was absolute dogshit. They would talk during class, eat gum also in class, and not listen to the teachers. Also, if you are trying to use the bathroom during passing period it is absolute chaos in their whole bunch of students doing whatever in there. Also, there is some shady stuff going on with the students. For example, I have a friend that I have been friends for a long time with before Tarkanian and we still hang out but anyways. My friend told me that another kid from my school (his name is Tristan) who was friends with this dude was that when my friend passed by one of Tristans friend's locker it smelt like weed. He legit told me that. Another thing I saw with one of the students in this school was that when I was waiting for the staff to let us into our classes inside a specific building. I saw a dude in a corner looking around like nobody was noticing him and he casually started counting money like my guess was like it was 200 dollars he was counting. I don't know how he got the money but he definitely 99.9% did something shady. Also, the school lunches are terrible except the teriyaki. Like the food they serve us I am questioning if that's actually food or if it's made from something entirely different like I don't want to know. Also, you can't get through a lesson in class without someone getting in trouble or doing something stupid. In my math class the students are absolute shit in there so much that the teacher has to yell at them every day and chew them out. I like the math teacher she's pretty nice but man those students are absolute assholes to her. Like she deserves better. Also, one time a student literally sprayed perfume in class which she is allergic to in another class my friend was in and had a severe allergic reaction. Like there is a whole ass sign giving warnings about her allergies on the door like can you not read. That was the day she almost died but luckily the hospital managed to save her. Man, those students need to have better respect and manners. The only thing I really liked about the school was the teachers and the staff. They were so kind and amazing. They definitely helped me out when I went there. In conclusion we need to have some students background and mental health checked.

Bringing this to light will make Mrs. Rose hostile and abrasive if not agreeing to their unethical practices.

We enrolled our 8 year old son to help him gain a better understanding of math concepts and give him more confidence and Mathnasium has delivered! This program is exceptional, the math classes are individualized and structured and engaging providing a perfect balance between learning and enjoyment. Our son LOVES going and is excited to go to each session and the fun math game hour. I like how they emphasize not just rote learning but a deeper understanding and appreciation for the subject. One of the standout features of Mathnasium is its incredible staff, especially the manager Kenny. They go above and beyond to ensure every child feels supported, motivated, and most importantly, excited about math. Their interactive and positive approach keeps our son fully engaged throughout his sessions. We have already seen a significant growth in our son's math skills, but what I love even more is his smile when he goes in, and when he comes out of each math lesson. We couldn't be happier with our experience, and we wholeheartedly recommend Mathnasium to any parent looking to empower their child's mathematical journey.

In addition, I think when selecting a school for your…read morechild, you need to have a good barometer of what kind of student they are and what kind of environment they will do well in. Academics - I found Coral Academy to be a good fit for my youngest daughter. They offer advanced science and math courses which are so vital in today's workforce. In addition, I find that many of the students at Coral truly like studying science and math ~ whereas elsewhere some students love to hate math and science. Having a daughter, it was important to me that she be encouraged in STEM courses and I find that the environment here is conducive to that. They offer many academic related clubs in addition to the advanced courses too. I appreciated the fact that they have their students take the PSAT as 8th graders. It gives you their scores early so that you may fill in any gaps prior to taking the real SAT as a junior. Location - Coral Sandy Ridge is in a nice Henderson neighborhood directly across from a park. Size - Coral Academy Sandy Ridge is much smaller than the local public schools, but not so small that the kids don't have a good selection of peers to socialize with. I was happy with the size of the overall school and individual classes. Sports - Some people complain at the lack of athletic activities at Coral. I agree that Coral doesn't have the current State Championship baseball or wrestling team -- or even many athletic teams at all. However, I found that to be the beauty of Coral. Academics is truly the focus here ~ which is what school is actually for! You can play sports on travel teams throughout the valley - so I don't see that as being an issue. However, some students may be a better fit at a school with more athletics. I think as a parent, you just need to know your child and find the best environment for them socially, academically and athletically. In a nutshell - I would recommend this school if your child has an aptitude in STEM courses, doesn't really care about sports and you want them academically challenged. However, if your child truly loves athletics and participating in school sports ~ then I believe there are better options for your child. Hope that helps! :)

The principal contributes to absolutely nothing and they'll cut funds to clubs and sports when it's most important. The uniform policy is highly reinforced for no particular reason, making parents deliver students' uniforms when they are caught not following the dress code. Overall, if you want safer school to put your child in...sure, Coral might be fit for you. But I do not recommend this place as a first choice.
