The billing people were a bit less than accurate about costs. They claimed to have checked my insurance and provided me with a document stating what my portion would be, which I paid, but then came to me later wanting more. Oddly the first time I was in there a woman shows up,agitates, complaining about billing amounts versus what she was told. The way the document is laid out they show various numbers in a format reminiscent of a used car lot finance plan - instead of just saying here's what it costs here's what insurance pays here's what you will pay. Professional, most courteous and pleasant experience. I had my appointment booked within a few weeks of my referral. As many people (I imagine), I was extra nervous but opted for anesthesia because who wants to hear all that's happening. I left with a swollen cheek and very mild pain. The entire team made everything easy and comfortable. I was in and out of the chair in less than an hour. Minimal bleeding and did not need to take more than the ibuprofen and the antibiotics. Don't ever use this office. Dr Garcia didn't only not finish my procedure he broke his contract with the office. So he broke the contract with me. It was an extremely ugly seen. I got there on time. Was told broken contract. Then told me wrong office. Showed 3 messages all confirming this office. Would not give me the address, Dr name or phone number of office I should call. Rudest receptionist I've ever dealt with in my life. Dr Garcia worst bed side manner. Talked so fast no clue what procedure he was going to do. Cost me $7000. I disputed the charge. Absolutely awful experience. We already knew my husband needed all 4 of his wisdom teeth removed, as they are coming in literally sideways and causing him a lot of pain per the x rays. The gal at the front desk did not give us a good faith estimate or tell us how much the 5 minute "consult" would be with the doctor until we were given a $130 bill for him telling us we need all 4 wisdom teeth removed. This office maybe should be more upfront about costs instead of wanting to get extra money from everybody who walks in the door. We walked in @ 9:40 for our 9:45 appt. It was a 45-60 min extraction of 4 wisdom teeth. I was trying to walk back with my son but I was told that I couldn't because they would be starting the procedure. I sat down and waited. After 60 minutes I asked for an update and was told he was still waiting to have the procedure done. You would think someone would say something. Completely inconsiderate. After the procedure is done I ask about the medication and how soon he needs to take it. I also double check they have the correct pharmacy and that the order has been placed. Janine ensures me that the order was placed when he was called back at 9:45 and confirms the correct pharmacy. I drop off my son and wait a bit to ensure he is well and I go get the medication only to find out the order was not placed . I finally get the notification that the medicine is ready 3 hours after I went to originally pick up the medication. More importantly, it was ready 30 minutes after the pain started! Completely unacceptable! Very frustrating and inconsiderate. read more

My husband scheduled an extraction with Jeffery Garcia. His office called at the last minute and asked if it would be possible for us to come in 45 minutes early, to help them with their scheduling. My husband cheerfully agreed. We rushed over and he then waited for 1 1/2 hours to be taken back! Schedules go awry, I get that. However asking a patient to come in early for YOUR convenience and not calling back to say that things had changed is not OK. So, that wasn't very impressive -- but it was nowhere near as bad as the "AFTER CARE" that followed. I was told to get him right home and to give him a pain pill as soon as I got him home, as the anesthesia would wear off in about an hour. Walgreens didn't have the script when we stopped to pick up the drugs on our way home. After an hour of waiting, I called Garcia's office to find out what happened and was told that they would take care of it right away. Yet another hour later the script still had not been received by the pharmacy. I had to call again. So, my husband left their office at 1:15 PM from a "one hour" 10:00 AM appointment. It is now 5:20 PM and, after seven phone calls (including the pharmacy) the prescription is finally available for pickup. MORE THAN FOUR HOURS WITH NO MEDICATION! This is not bad care, it is abysmal care! read more

We cannot say enough good things about Dr. Garcia. He is truly a shining star. My husband just had all 4 of his wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Garcia, and everything went so amazingly. The facility is very clean, and his office staff at the front desk are so sweet. I was immediately offered chilled water as we entered the office by Dr. Garcia's assistant. We had to wait a few minutes to be seen, but were quickly taken back into the consult room where Dr. Garcia answered all of our questions thoroughly. His bedside manner is absolutely excellent and put my husband at ease immediately. My husband was then taken back into the surgical suite while the assistant got him prepped, and they let me stay until the procedure started- which we were both very happy about. My poor husband was very anxious and the fact that they let me stay until the surgery really helped. The assistant was hilarious and talked to us both like we were old friends, putting us both at ease! I then had to go back to the waiting room, and it was only about 45 minutes until the assistant walked my husband back out to me. Dr. Garcia was quick and efficient! The assistant even walked him all the way to the car and made sure he got in ok. Once my husband was fully awake and the anesthesia had worn off, he told me that Dr. Garcia talked to him prior to giving him the medication to out him to sleep and once he woke back up, he told him what a good job he did and that everything went fantastically. That evening, Dr. Garcia even called my husband to check in on him and to see if he needed anything. It was truly an excellent experience and I would highly recommend Dr. Garcia to anyone who needs dental surgery. read more

Drove 2 hours for a consultation because of my insurance just to be told i need 3D imaging that my insurance doesn't cover costing $300. which would've been nice to know about before driving. then im told i have to pay 150 for canceling even though i wasn't aware of anything extra i was just going in for a consultation. I wont describe all that went on in my 'surgery' at the PD office. But the experience was terrrifying, traumatizing and extemely painful. After over 8 days I'm still in extreme pain. I was told that one of the Dr. in the practice would be 'available' on Monday 29. I was told he should be able to call me to advise me what I could do. I called 4 times during the day Monday and no one was 'available'....even tho I told them it was an emergency. Today Tuesday the office called and after making excuses for no one calling me on the holiday, she offered that I see the Dr. that performed the 'surgery' and I refused, crying. I cannot tolerate being in the same room with him, they refused to let me be seen by the other Doctor. That's not how they should operate. Don't they have details of the surgery and have eyes to see what was done to me??? read more

Visited with a family member who was having a surgery performed. Dr. Garcia was great, a vision in professionalism and bed side manner. Eddie who assisted made the process as painless as anything dental can be. Truly a great experience. I will continue to highly recommend this practice as my family have been patients since the 80's. However, spending a great deal of time in the waiting area....an older blonde woman(Connie?)who sat in the chair at reception, was oversharing, loudly, about her entire life to a coworker who was clearly embarrassed by this woman's incessant inappropriate sharing. After hearing about her horrible apartment, how much she wants to work in the palm desert office, her entire July 4th day off being stung by a bee....and the worst....how "disgusting" the desk area is that she has to work on for software changes, I literally ran outside to wait in the heat to escape her and was soon joined by others waiting for their loved ones. I truly hope future and returning patients do not have the displeasure of experiencing this, I know this is not the standard this practice holds. read more

I JUST was referred to Dr. Bass who extracted tooth #19...which was an old crown and now "will be"...a new implant next year. I was happily surprised on how funny, nice and thorough he was during the whole process. I do not think ANY doctor or dentist I ever had made me feel more secure during a procedure. He told me he also is working today..which is Christmas Eve. Dr. Bass even gave me my injection (even with three nurses in the room)-he was so smooth, I barely felt anything and my arm shows it too...no Mark at all!...Plus Dr. Bass even called me HIMSELF last night to make sure I was ok....I've never experienced such amazing customer service from a doctor or dentist EVER...Thank you Dr. Bass!!! read more

I was referred here by my dentist and I will never return. I was scheduled to get my wisdom teeth removed and followed all the protocols I had to before hand so I went all day fasting with nothing to eat or drink in preparation for my surgery. I arrived and they had copies of my paperwork and asked for my ID. After she gives me my ID back she decides to let me know that she can't get in touch with my insurance. I know I have coverage for this surgery so I found that odd. I was wondering what my options were at that point and she said I'd have to pay in full without insurance coverage if I wanted to proceed with my surgery. I told her that I didn't have the money for that out of pocket and it's presumptuous to assume that I would. I realized I've wasted my whole day in preparation for a surgery that wasn't going to happen. I asked her why she didn't call me and tell me over the phone about this issue with my insurance and she said she called me the day before. When she called the day before I told her all of my insurance information and told her to call my dentist that referred me because they have my insurance on file. She said she would get it taken care of and after that I got a text about what to do before surgery then had to fill out paperwork online so I thought I'd be good to go. When I was in the office I reiterated this and then told her that she should have called me the day of my surgery and informed me that my insurance was still an issue before I wasted all my time and gas to be there. Not once did I get an apology or any acknowledgment that she made a mistake. Instead I was met with defensiveness and incompetence. I returned home and called my primary dentist and told them what happened. Sure enough she told me I had 85% coverage for my surgery and she faxed it over to desert oral. Whoever you have working the front should be fired immediately for this transgression. They had terrible customer service and are the reason I am finding a different orthodontist. read more

Dishonest!!! Dishonest!! That is the best way to describe the office. My husband needed multiple dental implants. I checked with our insurance and was told that the procedure would be covered at 80% as long as the dental office obtained prior authorization. I explained this to the billing lady and was assured that it would be obtained. We paid our estimated portion of $2400 and had the procedure done. I reiteratedit more than once that she needed to get prior auth and the billing person told me that she would. Well, a year later, we got a bill for $9672!!!! Prior auth was never obtained and now we are on the hook for the money. In fact, they have sent us to collections!! I made multiple attempts to clear this up, but was told that we are just out of luck. In fact, the billing person lied and told me that she had told me they did not get prior auth!!! WHO WOULD AGREE TO THAT?? We never would have come here if we knew it was going to ruin our credit. Rude staff and bad bedside manner make this slap in the face even worse. I had to get my wisdom teeth pulled, and the anxiety leading up to it got me pretty nervous. It wasn't until the morning of, when I was sitting in the office that I really felt it. Once I got in the chair, the doctors that were there to care for me really helped make me feel comfortable. We just talked about life, and I was able to ask any questions about the procedure. Knowing what was going to happen helped ease my tensions, but the causal conversations is what really made me feel comfortable. Once I got my medication through the IV, I have no recollection of anything until I was walking out of the place. I'm so glad I had a good experience, because I've heard many horror stories. Had a surgery done last year with the understanding that my insurance would cover a part of the procedures. just received a bill for the remaining balance due. they never informed me that my insurance was "out of network" at the time of the surgery. now I owe the entire amount. About 10 days ago I snapped a molar in half (don't ask) and was referred to Dr. Garcia at Desert Oral Surgery. (A different surgeon at the same office had done an implant for me a number of years ago and I was very happy with them at that time.) Although I was honest that I wasn't actually in pain, Nancy, at the front desk, got me in to see Dr. Garcia and his team within 36 hours. And they performed the surgery, removing the remaining pieces of tooth below the gum-line and installing a bone graft because removing the tooth left a hole into my sinuses, the same day. Garcia, "Eddie" and the rest of the team were kind, empathetic and professional--and even put up with my rather morbid sense of humor! Late the following day, I discovered that I was losing stitches (entirely my fault, I am sure) and called Nancy again. She had me back in the office first thing the next morning and Dr. Garcia confirmed that I hadn't done any real damage. I am recovered nicely now and a big fan of everybody at the Palm Springs' office of Desert Oral Surgery. read more
