A somewhat quiet day at Desert Ridge. I suspect Black Friday will be very different. We made a stop at AMC theater to purchase movie tickets, a quick stop at Joann's and Albertsons. We remarked with time to spare for the movie. We sat outside catching up on the internet. I ran over to It's Sugar to see about some treats. Desert Ridge is a gorgeous outdoor mall. Definitely not a place to stay outside during 120 degree weather, but it's the most shaded and misted mall I've been to in Arizona. Plenty of shops and restaurants, and just plain gorgeous aesthetics. Theres also concerts here that at night, it's great to sit back and relax and enjoy the concerts and cooler weather at night. read more

I'm not quite sure why anyone would rate Desert Ridge so low. It's conveniently located and central to just about everything. It's incredibly clean with tons and tons of ample parking. Lots of stores, lots of restaurants and if you can make it out here during the week - it's incredibly quiet and actually, quite nice. You can meander around the entire marketplace and there's plenty of seating areas if you want to grab a drink somewhere and do some people watching (in a non-creepy / un-stalker-ish kinda way). Desert Ridge has been our hang out since it was built. We used to live in the area 20 years ago when we had built our first home. I wish we would have stayed due to land and property values here soaring even before these past few years where property all over has increased so much, great investment. It was just a bit too fast paced for us. I like the area for it has that desert vibe you want to share with visitors when site seeing. The Sonoran classic feel I enjoy. Desert Ridge itself has done a great job renovating and is always surprising us with the latest trendy restaurants and shops They have some of my favorite stores and eateries! Not too bad of a drive for us being right off of the 101. It is always one of our go-to spots when on staycations! It covers food, shopping, necessities and entertainment for us. read more

Live and Local Event held at the Desert Ridge Marketplace. What a beautiful setting for an amazing soiree! The cool and comfortable fall evening welcomed guests to this Boys and Girls Club Benefit. The gorgeous, romantic lighting of the Desert Ridge Marketplace by dark drew guests from Greater Phoenix to sumptuous foods and delectable libations offered by food and beverage companies to the tunes of local bands. This outdoor mall is a perfect venue for this event. The flow was nice and easy. Vendors had enough space for the most part in between. From food trucks to vineyards, cocktails shaking, conversations exchanged. I left with a full heart and a tummy to match. read more

Even though Desert Ridge marketplace is a little bit of a drive for me because I do live out in Glendale. I don't even care lol. I love coming here because if they're super target and all the great restaurants. I really love the AMC that at the dine in and you can order food. My kids love coming to the splash pad and than going to Sugar for a sweet treat. This area is seriously just a one stop shop they have everything over here. Really love coming here. read more

I really enjoy the mix of stores at Desert Ridge. There is something for everyone at all price points. It makes shopping enjoyable for all that drop in. Justice for my daughter, Home Goods for those unique finds for the house, Target for the latest and greatest and of course food! I'm thrilled they added Flower Child, Barrio Queen and CB Live (can't wait to check this one out). Desert Ridge has done a great job getting involved with its community - they offer monthly giveaways (head to their website to enter), they're involved with Mountainside Fitness to offer Yoga + Beer in the month of April. Desert Ridge is a great spot in north Phoenix that has a variety of activities. I come here all the time for shopping, dining, movie watching, or all manner of "hang out" activities. It is conveniently located right along the 101, and aside from the large amount of traffic that such a location draws, I have almost no qualms with the place. It has such a large selection of places to grab a bite to eat, from BJ's to CPK to Yard House to Zupas to Nekter. I've been to almost all of them and keep coming back. It is one of the most happening spots in my area. Traffic is a lot less hectic on Deer Valley, so sometimes it can be worthwhile to enter/exit on that side of the shopping center. Tatum can get pretty crazy during rush hour times. I was there most recently near Christmas and it was gridlock trying to exit onto Tatum! read more

A cute outdoor mall with a great selection of eateries, shops, and entertainment. There is a main island that you can walk around, which has shops, restaurants, etc., then there are rows of stores on the outskirts of "the island." So if you're on the island looking for a store or restaurant & you don't see it on the main island, check the directory. You will likely want to drive to stores outside of the main island. (Was that confusing?) The island mostly hosts clothing stores for tween - 20s (think Hollister, Xi, & Hot Topic). The AMC movie theatre used to be my main reason for coming, but there's also Yard House, which is one of my favorite restaurants in that area. They have a nice Barnes & Noble, and D&B is in that main part as well. In the summers that have rows of misters lined up along the storefronts to keep (try to) you cool. That water center (a small area where small doses of water spout up from the ground) is popular amongst the tykes. During the cooler months, near that same center, is a huge enclosed fire-pit. I love that thing! The have another area with a stage and a large screen, which is usually playing a music video of some sort. They have events throughout the year, which are advertised in the Scottsdale mailers, so I assume they are advertised in N. Phoenix and other bordering areas as well. Otherwise, if you're at the mall, they have a calendar if events posted. (I'm sure it's probably on their website as well.) Ample parking. Well lit at night. Nice place for parents to let their teens hang out during the day. After a certain time (I think it's 6pm), minors must be accompanied by a parent or adult, which I think is awesome! read more

From the first time I came to Phoenix nearly 10 years ago, Desert Ridge is always a place I've come to shop, eat, drink and be entertained. The outdoor areas are great for hanging out in and there are so many cool events that happen here weekly from live music in the plaza center to guest book events at the Barnes and Noble. My favs are the AMC theater, Yardhouse and the Keg and I also frequent Barnes and Noble and Dave and Busters. All in all the is a great fun place to come and bring the whole family! read more

Love Desert Ridge! They have different events all the time. Also they have live music playing on certain days. They have a splash pad for the kiddos. They have different stores & restaurants to eat and you can just hangout. There's an AMC theater. They even have a fire place! Love hanging out by the fireplace during the winter. During Christmas season they decorate with lights & giant wreaths & they have a Christmas tree. It's absolutely beautiful! read more

Desert Ridge has turned into such a fab spot! I love their newly renovated grounds, in addition to tasty restaurants, great shops, and more. It is a one-stop shop for all things food, shopping, and family! They have fun events in the evenings and on weekends, in addition to a splash pad and activities to keep the kiddos entertained. It is just what this part of town needed. I love that I can shop for cute clothes and gifts, hit up target for household needs, and eat a healthy lunch at Flower Child, all in one stop! I can't wait until our baby boy is old enough to enjoy the splash pad and kiddo amenities. Although we don't live in the area, we have friends that do so find ourselves here often! I like this mall. It reminds me of the Spectrum in Irvine. Some of my favorite places to shop & eat are: Fatburger Yard House Dave and Buster's I really want to like this place more than 3 stars, but it just seems to lack that vibe that the Irvine Spectrum has. The parking here is awful....very difficult to get in/out, especially when it's busy. It's also has very poor signage in the parking lot, so you have to know where the stores are before you head over to this mall. Overall, the shopping experience is not bad, but I've had better. There are lot of up sides to the Marketplace. There are a ton of restaurants and shops to spend time at, especially if you are looking to kill time before / after a movie or want a date night! The shops offer a variety of options from clothing to home decor to craft supplies. Same goes for restaurants. You can easily get some cheap eats here at Panda or drop a little more money and eat at Nori or Wolfleys (which are still not pricey options). Live music is offered every Friday in the main portion and the artists are always different and you can easily find out who is playing on their website. Seasonal offerings can also be found, such as Easter Bunny photos and the like. The negative here can be the parking lot and busy nature of the plaza. Since they are one of the only major plazas in the area, they are usually really busy and the parking lot can prove difficult to navigate and you may have to park and walk a bit. Overall: A Great variety of shops and dining. See a movie and make a date night out of it! Leave yourself time for parking if need to be at something at a certain time! read more

This is a lovely outdoor mall. I came here to hang out prior to a yelp event so I didn't have a ton of time to explore. I did go to the Target and Barnes and Noble (which are my favorite shops to browse). The mall's outdoor area is extremely clean. The outdoor area outside Barnes and Noble appears to be a fun place to sit back and relax after doing some shopping. I would definitely return to see what other stores are in the vicinity! read more

Eat, shop, play...all at Desert Ridge. You cannot go wrong here. With AMC movie theater, Dave & Buster's, water fountains for the kids, live entertainiment, many restaurants/bars, ice cream palors, and shopping stores, you can easily spend an entire day at Desert Ridge. The parking lot is always crowded so be prepared to keep circling or walk a little. If you are unfamiliar with Desert Ridge, it can feel like you're in a maze trying to find where you are going. Desert Ridge Marketplace is a great place for shopping. There are plenty of large shops (Target, Kohls, Petsmart, Old Navy, Ross) and plenty of small shops (Game Daze, Hot Topic, As You Wish Pottery) for everyone to enjoy. There are plenty of places to grab a bit to eat or take in a show at the AMC. I normally come early on the weekends for a show at the AMC and then do some light shopping afterwards. The parking lot is huge, but it needs to be for this type of outdoor mall. The only downside is how crowded it can get and how unfriendly folks can be while driving in a cramped parking lot. During the holidays, they have cones and whatnot out to direct traffic, but I think they should keep them year round because some drivers are out of control! Other than that, it's a great place for any time of day since they've got you covered for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I particularly enjoy The Keg for dinner, but there are plenty of other eateries (burgers, burritos, pizza, etc) if you are in the mood for something different. Either way, check it out! read more

Shop, dine and play. This outdoor mall has over a million square feet of shopping, dining and fun. I say this is a place to take the family. The vibrant outdoor fun in the sun that includes a fire place at night and a splish splash water fountain for the kids. AMC Theater is located there along with an arcade, pottery paining, bookstore and play factory. Parents can sit and watch the kids as they run through the water. Bring the Ipad as the whole mall is fully equipped with free wifi. Be sure to bring Fido. That's right you can bring your friendly companions too. The mall is dog friendly. Date night? There is live music after 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Many tasty restaurants in the area to choose from. Casual dining to more formal dining from a wide range of different choices. Besides shopping at the cool trendy stores there is always something going on at Desert Ridge. They have events taking place all the time. It is not your typical shopping center. It is a place for entertainment that the whole family can enjoy. read more

Absolutely wonderful place for our FOE (Eagles) International Convention. We had no problem getting from A-Z. The only thing I could offer as improvement is another Restaurant within the property. People working there, were all happy to be there & help you. Only other thing, that I did, a big no-no. I left my shoes in the wrong place (the sun ) tried to burn my feet even more than the concrete around the pool. I suggest you wear water shoes in the pool. Don't take them off. Plenty of great shopping and a good variety. The only reason I'm taking Leah start is because of the simple fact that there is actually an outdoor shopping center in Phoenix Arizona. I don't know how on earth any of the businesses think it would be a smart idea to put third store and then out for shopping market where the weather in the summer is insanely hot and nobody wants to be outside! However, during the other seasons this is a great place to come with your family or friends for a variety of things; including catch a movie, go shopping, play arcade games at Dave & Busters, bowling also at Dave & Busters, grocery shopping, etc. read more

I think Desert Ridge is a nice and decent place, I in fact don't do much shopping here, but I enjoy going to the movies on occasion, and the restaurants as well. It is a good place for a long walk when the weather is nice. So generally, I would give it 4 stars. However, my rate goes to 3 because last time I was there, they had ads at several places advertising promotions for the businesses there, it had a URL and when I went to check it out... they expect you to print the coupons! really? in this day and age? This place has everything you might need and more! There's a bunch of big box stores surrounding the central Marketplace in the middle. Everything on the outside is more big box Americana with Jo-Ann's, Target, Ross, and other similar things. In the middle you'll find more Boutique kind of things that are geared more towards Urban Folk. Lots of fountains, Flora, screens, and good music. It's very constrained in the middle so you feel like you were in a big city. Not bad! read more

This place has really grown and improved! Was the splash pad always here? I could have sworn we stopped coming because they didn't have one. They have great family events and with Copper Blues Live here it's even good for a date night. There are some empty spots but these days that's pretty common for shopping centers. Overall Desert Ridge appears to be more successful than when I worked here 10 years ago and gives a feeling of being in a more upscale area than it's counterpart in Tempe. read more

Awful, just awful is the best way to describe this mall. The architect that designed this mall and planners that approved it should be forced to drive through this area every day at rush hour, morning noon and night. It stinks. - Horrible traffic patterns that causes traffic to backup forever. Last summer I made the mistake of going in the mall and then discovering they had the east entrances closed for asphalt sealing. It took almost an hour to get out - Insufficient parking. There are way too many businesses packed into a tight space to accommodate the number of cars the mall generates. And that's now when we're in a recession. If they ever fill up all the vacant storefronts again they're in trouble - It's convenient in that it's RIGHT off the 101, but that also causes traffic problems. It adds to an already overcrowded Tatum Blvd north of the 101. - It's missing some stores that a mall of this type should have. Sporting Goods is one I can think of. - Very few locally owned businesses. All corporate chains - stuff you can find anywhere and everywhere. Too bad it's the closest and only thing close to the house. It means I'm banished to going here over and over and over again for the last minute items. Otherwise, I make the trip to similar stores elsewhere just so I don't have to fight the traffic in this awful place. read more

Desert Ridge... why do you have a less-than-stellar reputation? I can't figure it out! I mean, you're modern, clean, and you have most of the same shops and amenities as your typical indoor mall, but with the added benefit of being surrounded by great dining and several big-box type stores. Only in America will you hear people complain that a shopping center is "too big". If that doesn't scream "First World Problems", then I don't know what does. And to top it all off, the actual mall portion of the shopping center really isn't that big. The main mall area is laid out in such a way that you can pretty much remain under the cover of the provided shade umbrellas or the natural shadows created by the buildings on either side throughout your entire shopping experience. Depending on which end you begin your journey, you end up at a fantastic outdoor lounge that is perfect for both seasons we enjoy here in Phoenix: Summer, and Not Summer. During the summer months, the seating area surrounds a miniature splash pad that is guaranteed to be THE place to be. All throughout the day, you'll find children frolicking in the water, which means they're NOT in the stores you'll be patronizing. During Not Summer, the same splash pad area turns into a fireside lounge. There is a beautiful fireplace, with seating on both sides for maximum enjoyment for those sitting around it. It makes for a very nice place to take a break from the shopping. Right in the heart of the actual mall , there's a stage right outside of the Dave and Busters. Here, there is a giant television screen that constantly airs different music videos, and it's surrounded by more covered seating. This area is also where they have performances at different times throughout the year. Now, the rest of the shopping area, I'm guessing, is what bothers certain people. The big-box stores (Target, PetSmart, JoAnn's, Old Navy, etc.) are all spread out on the outer circle of the mall area. For shopping in places like this, a little planning might help you avoid too much walking. I get it...Summer is incredibly hot out in Phoenix. But if you're from here, you should know that, and should never be caught complaining that you decided to do something outside of your own accord...especially if what you decided to do was come and part ways with some expendable income. Desert Ridge could seriously be a place where you could spend an entire day, and still not visit each and every thing they have to offer. If you live in North Phoenix and you have shopping to do, you're almost certain to find what you need somewhere in this commerce mecca.
