We had already started to modernize our plain brick home in Scottsdale by painting the brick to be grey, getting rid of the grass and putting in some concrete pavers.... From the beginning, Tom asked what my budget was, and stuck to it, offering me a bunch of different options on types of plant and rock to help with cost. Tom did an amazing job on a project for us last year. We wanted to revamp our outdoor fire pit and the stone path that led to it. We also wanted to add a separate stone/brick path elsewhere in our backyard. Tom designed a really beautiful setup for both and was very communicative and attentive. No, no, and no. The owner is a joke. A plan was drafted up where 20 potted shrubs/plants were to be planted around my property. This guy augers out the holes, drops the plants in, and covers them with the same desert soil he dug out; no soil amendment whatsoever. He buys his plants from Home Depot, as evidenced by the plastic pots he threw in MY recycling container and left dirt across my driveway and sidewalks. No reputable landscaper would do such shoddy work but it is the norm for this guy. Lots of competition out there...choose wisely. read more

I don't know where to start. Tom is very knowledgeable, timely and has gone above and beyond for me. (Back story before Tom) I have been working on re landscaping my backyard, I worked with a contractor that never would tell me what this redo would cost. Just kept saying, " this is a big project". Finally got a price and we continued with planning and buying of materials. Days before the project was to start. A 9K bid went up to 24K, this was impossible for me to do. My heart was broken as my daughter is using my back yard for her wedding. IN WALKS TOM FROM DESERT SHOWCASE LANDSCAPING!!! I was desperate and contacted a friend that has used TOM a few years back. I called TOM and he came over the next day. I told him, I have all the materials purchased but a severely limited budget. Has has worked so hard, to the tune of taking a $200 home depot credit and offering to pick up my second load of stone to save me delivery ($150). He has educated me on my plants and trees and even some other landscaping stones that I have in my yard. (one is a hard to find stone in AZ and the other is a rock used by the Indians. :) Tom has gone above and beyond to prepare my yard for this special occasion and enjoyment for years to come. He recommended adding lights to a tall tree to shine in my yard, and it wasn't an upsell, just a great idea and he gave me a great deal! He will be doing my electrical for a spa come spring and hopefully at the end of next year, redo my front yard. He and his team just started this week ,they are timely, considerate, hard working and very considerate of my animals and other property in my yard. I will post pictures, before and after. Reading the advertising for this weekend's Maricopa County Home and Garden Show reminded me this review is long overdue! We hired Tom to redo our backyard 2 years ago and are very thankful we picked him! He is an honest person and very capable in all aspects of designing and building a beautiful outdoor space--from the travertine pavers, to the lighting, to the type of plants and hard spaces. I originally wrote a 5-star review for this business, but soon took it down. In the beginning, I immediately liked Tom from Desert Showcase because he was eager to start the job, came with great qualifications, gave a great picture of his thoughts and was very knowledgeable. We decided to use his services. Unfortunately, we paid him in full back in late February/early March and the services were incomplete until early June after emails asking him to complete the job. I had been contacting him about this over the months to which he has always responded either with a phone call or a personal visit. He told me at the end of March that he was waiting on back ordered supplies and it would be a few days until he finished our project. Out of pure frustration, I emailed him one last time to tell he we would either like the landscaping to be finished or our money refunded by the end of that week. We have not heard from Tom. It took contacting his references and partner to get a response from him. The job is now complete and looks great. I wish the job would not have taken 4 months to complete. ** This company is doing the same thing to my neighbors, so this is not a one-off situation. Sad. I will continue to update. read more

Tom was recommended by a friend of ours for our new home's landscape. The work turned out nice, but getting there was difficult. It has been almost 9 months and we are still waiting for him, or someone from his crew, to come and correct a problem we have with our flagstone walkway. Tom and his crew applied a sealer on our travertine patio, and due to overspray, was tracked onto the flagstone walkway. We have discolored flagstone and footprints on some of the larger pieces. The size of the stones requires more than myself or my husband from flipping them over. My husband has contacted Tom more than once to come and fix the walkway along with another additional repair. Tom says he will be over and doesn't show. read more

Tom was one of 5 companies that I had come out and to give us a bid/proposal for converting a dirt/rock yard into a grassy yard with 2 patios last spring. He definitely left the best 1st impression during his visit. When searching for a reputable landscape contractor for our large project, several "must have" criteria were to be meet before signing a major contract. I'm pleased to report, Desert Showcase Landscaping met all requirements! First - must be Owner Operated with personal full-time daily supervision of construction - no hand offs to others. Secondly - licensed, bonded and insured Third - Certified installer of the Belgrade pavers and blocks products which was a huge content of the project. Fourth - Our project was a large backyard landscape effort requiring removal of old and removal of a lot of dirt to obtain the grade needed to ensure the water runoff would work with the new hard-scape. Tom's crew did outstanding. Fifth - Price had to be competitive. Lowest price is hardly ever indicative of a good project results. You get what you pay for. Desert Showcase was middle priced compared to competition. DSL's price stayed firm throughout the project which is very important. DSL did not nickle-dime the cost for changed. A give -n -take relationship makes for a good project for changes are going to happen. DSL (Tom) was very thorough in design, focused on the little details and huge on quality. The project involved hardscaping, large three stone water feature, large paver block areas, Celtic block walls and planters, plants and trees, irrigation system, digit lighting, timers, and electrical. What an amazing transformation and a hugely successful result. Tom has featured our project in his website and now that the plants and shrubbery have matured, the yard is gorgeous. I am theFacility Manager for our church. Our property is on a hill and had some drainage problems. I contacted Tom from a reference from a neighbor. He corrected the flooding problem we were having with the neighbors at a cost far below other estimates. He is knowledgeable in grading and drainage issues. We have also used his service for major tree trimming and he has saved some of our trees we had some concern with. The last project was replacing gravel in our parking lot islands and frontage.
