What a gem! Sacred sands is a beautiful and relaxing boutique hotel near Joshua Tree National Park…read more My boyfriend and I came here for a weekend trip a couple of weeks ago. We only stayed for one night but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Check-in instructions were sent via email and there's a code to unlock the room. The grounds are very pretty, perfect for a desert wedding or party. There are great views all around and there aren't any neighbors nearby. It looks like they own a lot of acreage nearby. The room we stayed in was the Onyx room. It was beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. There are lots of nice additions in the room to ensure you enjoy staying in from wine glasses, a wine fridge, record player with a record collection, bath salts, star gazing area outside with a mattress, and comfy robes and slippers to use during your stay. If it were warmer, I definitely would've tried out the outdoor tub and shower but it was too cold at night to even think about it. There's also a large community pool in the works. As mentioned earlier, this hotel is about a mile from the NP so it's an excellent choice for anyone going there. It's also not too far from town so you're not too far from stores and cafes. I am definitely planning on staying here again!

AMAZING RENTAL!! Definitely the best place to stay while visiting Joshua Tree National Park!…read moreLocated only one mile from the West Entrance. We stayed in the Onyx room. There's only two rooms but each are beautifully decorated w so much attention to detail! Both have their own private outdoor area that is huge. The outdoor area have their own shower and tub which has a window that you can open to view the sunset. There's also a queen size bed outside for stargazing or tanning. Don't worry there is an indoor bathroom as well with an amazing shower. Everything was so well thought out! Each room has a fridge that is stocked up with large bottles of water, k cups, teas, creamers and sugar. They give you plenty of towels. There's also bath salts to use for when you enjoy the outdoor tub. They make sure the check in process is smooth and easy. There's also housekeeping available (free only if you stay 3 nights or more). There is a beautiful common outdoor area with a fire pit, swings and seating. There is also a common area with a large living room that has a microwave. I can't stop singing praises about this place! Sacred Sands absolutely rocked it!

There was a visible to me roach problem on property. I counted at least 20 of these little critters by the walkways in front of the doors, in the rocks, by the cars etc.. I had gone to Pappy and Harriets for dinner and upon arriving back to call it a night (around 10:15pm) is when they were all out. Since it was dark I was using my phone's flashlight to to walk towards my unit. That's when I started to notice them. They were in the dirt, in the walkway and on the doormat. There was even one in the crevice of my unit trying to sneak in. When I flashed the light, I saw several of them scurry into the building crevices and being a prior Floridian of over 20 years, this gave me the major ick bc that means there is probably a huge infestation beneath the walls. They were nice and tried to move me rooms and on my way there I also saw a huge palmetto roach so I was like nope I'm done and loaded the car and did the 2 hour drive at 11pm. Staff was nice but seemingly they know this is a problem that comes up every so often. As staff admitted to me that the rooms closest to P&H and the parking lot have a bigger problem. They need to nip it so that people can stay comfortably at their motel. The weekend before, the motel was charging like 400-550 a night and honestly having that many roaches around property is unacceptable. Sadly after this, I can't come back. Would like to acknowledge that my 2 night reservation was refunded with no hesitation. Props to the owners for that.

The A/C unit in the room worked very well and quickly warmed the space on a cold desert night (it dipped below 50*). The room was a bit run down but very clean when I arrived. Location is very far from Joshua Tree, but less than a 2 minute walk away from a local movie theater (it is literally the next building over) and close to a handful of nice cafes and restaurants in Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms. Only 40 minutes away from Palm Springs as well if you'd like to visit the larger/more touristy desert cities. I booked my room over the phone, which I would recommend that you do as well. It would have been nice to receive an email confirmation of my reservation (which I asked for twice and was told 'not to worry about it') but my room was ready and available when I arrived and they had record of my reservation when I called to follow up. Overall, I was very happy with my stay and absolutely plan on returning for another one-night get away in a different themed room. It was quiet, peaceful, and safe, with lots of parking and accessible local amenities. This is a small independently owned motel, so I would note that the accommodations do match that description. The room was small (as I expected), the furniture was old and not in the greatest state, the wi-fi was slow, and as I mentioned I was denied an email confirmation when I booked my room which I really would have preferred. But I am very comfortable giving my five-star review as the Cave Room exceeded my expectations and I had a great time. I would recommend this place very highly if your goal is to experience a fun novelty motel room. : )

This was one of the worst stays especially for the price we paid!…read more The king "suite" looks like it's straight out of the 60's maybe, with a few newer pieces of furniture thrown in. While the size of the room was nice, the layout left a lot to be desired. The only TV was so far away from the bedroom area that it could barely be seen, not to mention that it was set to face the kitchen area, not the couch or bedroom The couch felt like sitting on a stone bench and the bed was almost as bad! The mattress was covered with some weird, hard mattress cover. After the first night, we tried putting an extra blanket between the sheet and that mattress cover which helped but not much. The pillows were small and thin. We spent two nights trying to get a few minutes of sleep; didn't work out well. The water coming from the sinks was milky-- not sure if it was the hotel or the town, but didn't see it anywhere outside of the hotel. The shower head sucked as well as the water pressure from it. The bath towels were inconsistent-- one was a decent size and thickness, the other was so small and thin it barely dried me off We didn't need to use the kitchen which I'm glad about! The cabinets held dishes, pots and pans, etc but everything was stored haphazardly, most of it looked older than me and one of the drawers even held leftover onion garbage from someone else. This stay was so disappointing. We have stayed in Yucca Valley quite often over the last 30 years and I have always wanted to stay at this location. Previously it was called Oasis of Eden and seemed so nice! This stay was far from nice!! We don't plan to ever stay there again!!

Mojave Sands was perfect for our stay. Only a few rooms on site, pretty secure to get in, easy to get to our room, and large enough to be comfortable for our little family. We were able to set up our Pack and Play in our room and then layout a play area in the living room by the kitchen. I really enjoyed our stay and what I mention next is not bad just tips that I would have liked to have known: We stayed in Suite 1 which was closest to the road and it was tough for baby to take his naps. The rooms have lots of windows but none of the shades fully block the window, again making it hard for him to take naps and, for adults, hard to sleep in when the sun is blistering through the windows at 7am haha (it doesn't matter we're up at 7 anyways), the kitchen was very small, I so wish it had a microwave or an oven. Lastly, the floors are concrete, which I'm sure is appreciated during the summer, but in the winter, even with the heaters on at almost 80 F, I was absolutely freezing when sleeping, i had to wear my slippers and a turtle neck to stop shivering. My husband was fine, but I'm a cold person and I wished I had an extra blanket. Location was great and close to the West entrance and super close to the visitor center and Road Runner cafe (side note, just go to Walmart a little further and get food for the park, Road Runner was expensive and the sandwiches were ok at best). Overall, loved our stay and so glad I booked it!

I and friends from Canada stayed here after a day in Joshua Tree National Park. This place is in a great location with lots of places to enjoy local color within walking distance. Assuredly the perfect spot to decompress. We found this place online and the owner was wonderful, over the phone, to book our stay. Everything went exactly as she'd said it would regarding receiving necessary gate codes, etc. We were not disappointed on arrival; this place is spectacularly special. Literally, a hidden oasis that has been thoughtfully, artistically created to provide a very unique zen experience. We loved the secluded, quiet vibe and it was so beautiful. We used the suite and one of the regular rooms. The suite was a two level masterpiece with plenty of seating, a small kitchen and carefully chosen art pieces that elevate the ambiance. It has picture windows that provide a dynamite view and you've got the option to draw blinds for privacy. The beds and linens were so comfortable that my Canadian friend said her husband got the best night sleep here; out of their entire trip to California. My room was perfect. Warm, so comfortable, and with a thoughtful artistic touch. The architectural details of modern, mixing hard and soft with an Asian zen/Americana 50' vibe. The icing on the cake was my golden retriever was also welcome. He thoroughly enjoyed having a safe, enclosed area to chill with his humans. For sure, the next trip to the 29 Palms side of Joshua Tree will include another stay here. Highly recommend here for a very unique, relaxed, pet friendly respite!
