I meet Gabe when I took My 2002 Yamaha Vino scooter ( Which I was told to bring to a junk yard by another repair shop ) in to Desert Touring Specialties. He had me at Hello, this dudes voice..think when your at the movies and they are showing a preview and a voice says " In a World where"... Anyways...My Lol Vino , Which I have a sentimental attachment to was not running at all.. In a day he was able to diagnose the problem ( a lot of them ) He ordered the parts he needed, some from Japan ! To the rescue! I have been riding for a bit over a year and put a LOT of miles on my bike doing different things, most recently was at a Motorcycle Rally in Joshua Tree that ended in Palm Springs. After a fantastic weekend of riding, and a relaxing day in a Palm Springs Pool I was finally ready to head back to L.A. when I felt my back tire go *flub flub flub* I do not live in Palm Springs, I rarely go to Palm Springs, but I do know that most shops are closed on Mondays and I got nervous. Luckily I called around until someone referred me to DTS and with a little fix-a-flat in my tire I was on my way. I'm sure that they had plenty of other things to do that day as they generally work on appointments but they were happy to help out. If I lived closer, this would be my normal shop. They're pretty darn fantastic! Very friendly, and obviously just love keeping people on two wheels safely. They didn't have my tube in stock as they'd just run out but I was lucky enough to get a used one he had in the back, he tested it to make sure it was safe before putting it in and an hour and a half or so later, I was back on the road. He didn't just stop at helping get me back to L.A., he did a once 'round on the bike to make sure everything was safe. I had a missing bolt in my suspension that I hadn't realized I lost, he replaced it. He tightened anything that seemed loose, checked my fluids, and told me about a noise he heard in my steering and suggested what I should have looked at later. Once on the road I also noticed he tightened my brakes for me and even lubed up my slightly sticky kickstand that now pops up easily. All of this while working around two full saddlebags and 4 days of camping gear on my backseat. Quality motorcycle repair and service is really limited here in the valley. I recently discovered this shop. Dave has moved his shop over to Williams street, just south of the airport in PS. This was a great find. He only works on Metric. Harley people can go over to The Garage in Cat City. Dave's shop is small, but he can and will accomodate all your service needs at probably 1/3 of the cost you'd pay at a dealership. He's been in the motorcyle for over 17 years and can handle everything. If your looking for compenent service at fair prices, this is the place to come. He does warrenty his work. My scooter had been sitting in the garage all summer, so when I fired it up a couple of weeks ago (which took quite an effort), it kept wanting to cut out when I slowed down for stop signs and lights. Took it in to DTS (who let me borrow their ramp to load the scooter into the back of my truck), where Gabe found that the carb had gotten gunked up. He fixed the problem, and got me back on the road. He also found that my brake light switch was stuck in the on position, which is obviously not too safe. When I got my scooter back, everything ran better than when it was new, and they had even washed it for me! Gabe (and his wife, too) seem like really good, honest people. No reason to take your bike or scooter anywhere else. read more

I took my 2015 Suzuki Dual Sport in for Gabe to work on as it just didn't have the Brrraaappp factor I was looking for in the dirt. My boyfriend had already done some alterations on it but it was still short on power and the clutch was a bit too soft. Gabe put a new clutch with stiffer springs, re-jetted the carb and gave it a complete power makeover! What a difference! It starts up cold even better than after I brought it home from the dealer! DTS was suggested to me a while back...when I rode Vespas. Fortunately, I didn't need a mechanic at the time. But not quite a year ago, I bought a 2005 Kawasaki Vulcan 2000 A from a co-worker, who was selling it as part of her late husband's estate. The bike had been in storage at a bike shop in North Carolina, but it had not been serviced since I had it shipped to Palm Springs, CA. When the time came, I decided to call DTS for a nose-to-tail service. What a smart move on my part!!! Gabe and Liz are, quite simply, the best. Gabe is one helluva mechanic. He took care of everything and explained it all to me in language that even I could understand. Liz does a fantastic job in "the front of the house", too, by making courtesy calls with service updates, the time the bike would be ready, and what it was going to set me back...which was less than I had budgeted for the project! They both seemed to take a personal interest in me and in my bike, Mo'Dean. I feel as though I have found a motorcycle family, a second home. I would not hesitate to send anyone to DTS with metric motorcycle or scooter repairs of any type. I could not be happier! WOW!! Gabe and Elizabeth are AMAZING!! My partner and I have had Gabe work on several of our bikes. He is friendly, focused, competent, honest and VERY reasonably priced. Then we saw a bike that he was trying to sell for another client. We bought it - HASSLE FREE!! and he then did some modifications on it - another great job. Finally we decided to sell one of our other bikes and Elizabeth and Gabe did EVERYTHING - getting it sold in good time and for a good price - again HASSLE FREE! More businesses should operate this way! My ONLY SUGGESTION is to make a business email address more widely known. read more
